We decided relatively last minute that our son was going to take the entrance exam to the local Grammar School. Choice Home Tutoring matched us up with a Tutor based on our requirements and provided us with Jane, a wonderful lady who my Son really liked. They had a great rapport and they worked together in a very relaxed and informal way. I could hear them laughing and having fun while they worked and my son really enjoyed their sessions. Jane assessed his strengths and weaknesses and targeted his tutoring where it was needed. She knew exactly what the school was looking for in their candidates and coached him accordingly. My daughter needed to have a fresh tutor to prepare her for her GCSEs and I contacted Choice Home Tutoring. I explained her personality, her specific needs and the tutor they recommended has been absolutely fantastic. Unflappable, calm, funny, engaging, on my daughter's level - but MOST IMPORTANTLY my daughter has come on leaps and bounds. When we decided we needed a tutor, to help our daughter sit the entrance exams, we didn't know where to start. Luckily we were recommended Choice Home Tutoring. From the start the contact and conversation centered around what was best for our daughter. We explained the criteria and were provided with a list of tutors to review. Our tutor Caroline was amazing. She reviewed quickly where help was needed. She had a clear understanding of our daughter's character and how to get the best out of her. Caroline's feedback to us was extremely comprehensive. She gave our daughter both the confidence and the push she needed to work. I would definitely recommend Choice, we have had a very positive experience using them. Jo was very helpful and easy to chat to, she really listened to what we wanted to get out of the sessions for our Daughter. We were placed with Jane and it’s been great, she is lovely. Jane has been very intuitive with our child’s needs and adaptable with what she does with her week to week. Suzie enjoys her hour each week, it’s challenging but not so tricky she is put off. Would highly recommend Choice Home Tutoring. I decided to look for a tutor when I realised my daughter was struggling in Year 1 with spelling and writing. She started initially with Lizzie who really helped her reading comprehension skills. After Lizzie went on maternity leave my daughter started with Jane. Jane has helped my daughter gain confidence in her writing and support her with strategies to help with her spelling. My daughter now really loves writing stories and has come on so much. I just wanted to leave a review for Claire Nelson and Jo Boon at Choice Home Tutoring. They have both been tutoring my son Nicholas during the school closures via remote learning. Using an online platform where Nicholas can see and hear Jo and Claire and complete work via a white board. He absolutely loves it and it is working so well because he is on our laptop completing activities one to one with them. It is all tailored to him specifically and Claire and Jo have worked together to split their time and different activities. Nicholas is Dyslexic and has some visual and language processing difficulties so needs to learn at a different pace and has SEN support at school. Using initial guidance from the SEN teacher they are working to support Nicholas in the areas he requires. Claire used to come to our house to tutor Nicholas once a week, but we have found that the remote learning is also working just as well. It seems that working on the computer is helping Nicholas to retain information more readily. Jo and Claire are so positive and make the activities interesting. It takes all the stress out of home learning. 5 stars is definately deserved. I'd recommend them and Choice Home Tutoring to anyone who requires tutoring for their child. This has been so positive for my son and we look forward to continuing sessions even when he goes back to school.

We contacted Choice Home Tutoring just a few months before the Trafford Grammar School exams. We'd been managing our son's preparation ourselves up to that point, but were concerned that there were some gaps in his knowledge (as quite a lot of the content in the 11+ exams is not taught in Y5 at school). I called Jo, and explained the problem, and she immediately found us a great tutor who could cover those areas in weekly sessions. Everything was set up quickly and efficiently, and Jo was careful to ensure we were really happy with the match, following up after the first few sessions for feedback. Then in the summer holidays, Choice run week-long tutor courses, one of which our son attended -- and LOVED. The mornings were spent taking mock tests and working on exam technique with some expert teachers, but then the afternoon was gloriously full of sport and games. The balance was perfect -- our son was pleased to be getting up to speed for the exams with other kids rather than swotting away at home, and really looked forward to his hours of running about afterwards. It was honestly the best preparation we could have given him. So yes, we do recommend Choice Home Tutoring. They are responsive, well-run, professional, and most importantly they get how kids work best.

We've actually had 2 tutors from them & both were highly experienced, punctual, personable, organised, genuinely interested in my son & seemed to thoroughly enjoy tutoring. We have had great experiences using CHT with our 5/6 yo daughter. Starting with a summer refresher camp we have progressed to using a home tutor to keep her up to speed with her class. Being a summer born and a little shy the pace of the classroom often moves faster than our daughter can absorb so we have used two tutors place by CHT (one for yr1 and one for yr 2) who have both been excellent. Jo who runs CHT has always been very thoughtful with our needs and has considerately chosen tutors she knows will be a match for us. The proof is that our usually shy daughter has found both tutors to be a lot of fun and welcomes the sessions with them. During the COVID-19 CHT were quick to adapt to online learning and group lessons and we have increased our usage of CHT to help support us with home-based learning.

My son needed to re-take a couple of A level modules in order to get in to the university of his choice. He needed an A grade, which was a rather daunting task. From our first contact with Choice Home Tutoring, he (and I!) felt completely supported. Jo was very careful to find as much information as she could about my son and his needs in order to identify an appropriate tutor and the tutor she assigned to him (Josephine) could not have been more helpful. When my son found it hard to get back into the routine of studying, Josephine responded by giving him structured tasks and clear guidance. She worked at his pace, supporting and challenging as needed, and giving him very clear feedback, enabling him to progress. She coped with various (fairly numerous!) crises of confidence, always calmly and constructively. Meanwhile, in the background, Jo also continued to monitor his progress and check that all was well and I am confident she would have dealt with problems promptly and effectively (had there been any!) The upshot of all this is that the A grade was indeed achieved (quite comfortably) and my son is now happily enjoying Freshers' Week at the University of Sheffield! He worked hard and deserved his success, but he couldn't have done it without the highly individualised, targeted and caring support provided by Jo and Josephine. We are both very grateful!

Gemma is great and has made a real impact on our daughters learning. She quickly understood the level of ability and areas of challenge. Gemma brought her own curriculum based work and use some of the work currently being learned by our child. Dear Jo and the CHT team, Am sure Minelia will already have been in touch with you, but I wanted to confirm that we ve sadly agreed to stop our sessions with her now that GCSEs are cancelled. I just wanted to say, in the short time we had the pleasure of Minelia working for us, how impressed we were with her. She immediately engaged Angus with sessions that were ‘pacy’ varied and kept him constantly ‘on task’ - Hard work for Angus, but in a good way! Minelia always produced a detailed report for me with Angus’s ‘homework’ tasks for the week ahead and would follow this up each week. She was very generous with her time, invariably going over time in order to finish a task. Moreover, she was a delight to meet, so warm, friendly and always cheerful and positive.
