Highly recommend the Wharf Academy. I've been part of the Choir for 3 years now and I love it. Sam is a great teacher and a supportive and fun choir mistress. My once poor voice has definitely improved and singing has become so much fun. I've also recently started having piano lessons with Sam and her excellent skill and teaching style accompanied by her warm encouraging personality make it such a pleasure to learn.

As a student and employee at the Wharf I can definitely say it is a great place to learn (and to work). The teachers enable the students to find confidence, treat the students as individuals and tailor their teaching to fit what is best for the students. The atmosphere is so friendly and I have been made to feel welcome and comfortable throughout the 3 years I have been a student. My confidence has built up so much, I turned up incredibly shy but have been able to come into my own here. I am also part of the choir which is a great way for people to come and sing together, regardless of their technical musical experience. The Wharf provides a chance to just come and enhance what you love; be it singing, piano, guitar, songwriting or music theory. I love it here, and it's the teachers who make it the great place that it is.

I have just started lessons with Sam for guitar/piano and singing. I loved playing on the baby grand piano it has a fantastic sound - and the acoustics in the place are amazing! As I have such a busy lifestyle with a full time job, working freelance in spare time and dog walking / gym etc it is great to be able to have ad hoc lessons every other week or so - makes it so much easier! Fantastic location, brilliant building and great teaching :)

I'll be the first to hold my hands up and say I'm neither a confident singer nor a great one, but thanks to The Wharf I am more confident than I was and also a better singer. For various reasons I haven't taken lessons recently. However I plan to start again at some point and I'm still a member of the Wharf's Choir and thoroughly enjoy being involved. Any organisation that can get me singing solo in front of over a hundred people must be doing something right!

Good place to learn how to play the drums taught by Cath Evans :)
