Having last ridden a bike regularly about 35 years - yes years ago I decided to scratch the itch I've had for years and get back in the saddle. I've decided on the bike I want but what about having a refresher course - after that period it's only sensible. I contacted Roadcraft Nottingham and arranged a lesson which was overseen by Richard and I had a great hour which zipped by. Got my confidence back and good advice given. I arrange my second lesson for a few days later but out on the open road and that was overseen by Leanna. For a couple of minutes I wondered if I would be OK but Leanna was watching my rear and in contact via intercom to give soothing advice. Another great hour. Best decision I could have made, both Rich and Leanna have been very helpful and gave sound advice. They put you on the right bike and can loan you all the safety equipment if you (like me) haven't got it. All the staff are friendly, helpful and calm whilst making sure the trainees are safe. I would recommend that anyone who hasn't ridden for a while and intends to, they should contact Roadcraft Nottingham and book some refresher lessons, it makes sense. I'm going back in a few days for a 2 hour session - I'll be ordering that bike before long.

Recently completed training with Roadcraft Nottingham, culminating in passing both my Mod 1 & Mod 2. Both first time, both with zero faults/minors. -- While my ego won't ever get tired of mentioning the faultless scores, it's absolutely a testament to the instruction these guys deliver. They're a friendly bunch, and if you go in willing to learn, then you'll do just that. == Personal experience below == I had a couple of lessons with Russ. The guy has the spatial awareness of a Motorcycle Jedi. If you make a mistake, he'll see it. He'll also see the mistakes (and potential mistakes) of all the cars and pedestrians, all around you. Consummate professional. Calm, pleasant and knowledgeable. Most of my training was completed with Leanna. Short and wise, she imparted sage wisdom through the radio like Yoda on wheels. Absolute star instructor who I'd recommend to any prospective rider in a heartbeat.

A friend recommended Roadcraft to do my CBT. As I had never ridden a bike before, the guys at Roadcraft suggested I do a taster session (I ended up doing more than 1) I did my CBT and got my certificate. Paul was an amazing instructor, very patient and friendly, he went above and beyond to get me up to standard. Absolutely fantastic. I took Mod 1 & Mod 2 lessons with Roadcraft Nottingham at the end of 2019, passing my Mod 2 just before Christmas. The entire team are great - every single person I met was really friendly, made me feel really at ease, but also completely professional at all times. Russ, Leanna & John are experts at what they do - the feedback you receive, both at the time whilst riding, and afterwards in a debrief, is clear, concise, and focused on firstly your safety, making you a better rider, and then getting you through your tests. I was (pleasantly!) surprised at how quickly they wanted to book me in for both sets of tests, there was no attempt to drag the training out for any longer than necessary, and they were clearly spot on - I passed both without any riding faults! The bikes are modern, in great condition, and the addition of heated grips and gloves made keeping warm during some particularly cold lessons a breeze. I had so much fun learning, it's not quite the same out on the bike without them! I am planning on returning for some advanced rider training soon - I can't wait!

So i have wanted to do my Bike test for years, i finally chose Roadcraft and i am so glad i did, they have excellent instructors and system in place and from the moment you call to enquire to the moment you finally pass, they help you and encourage you all the way, I have had ups and downs with the Covid restrictions but Russ and Leanna kept in contact with updates as soon as was physically possible with reference to new test dates and lessons. I am a reasonably experienced rider with some advanced riding qualifications and I decided to use Roadcraft Nottingham as the training provider for a refresher course. I chose the Enhanced Rider Scheme (ERS) which was delivered by Leanna over 2 days, a few weeks apart. The instruction was professionally delivered, catered specifically for my weaker areas and with plenty of opportunity to practice those weak points on a variety of roads. Feedback was delivered both verbally and written, with excellent instructional techniques which sponsor self-motivation for futher improvement. I can recommend this training organsation and specifically Leanna for training at any level. I will be using them again when I need another refresher course.

My very first Google review ever, and what a way to start. Started in September and within 8 weeks completed my theory, MOD1 and MOD2. Excellent bunch of instructors, very friendly and helpful. Enjoyed each and every lesson with them, was always made fun and enjoyable especially with the Banter. Did my A2 license with these guys at the tail end of last year and couldn’t have asked for better service. They recognised that I had a decent amount of motorcycling experience and didn’t mess me about with loads of lessons. I couldn't of asked for better instructors. They have taken me from having never touched a bike in my life, through my CBT, I then had a year of riding a 125 for experience and came back to pass my mod 1 and 2 after only a handful of lessons. After my evaluation ride, they actually advised me to follow the pay as you go route to save money! Instructors are friendly, patient and full of solid advice. They don't just teach you to pass a test but also give valuable advice that has already saved my skin a few times. I'll definitely be seeing them again for further training. I have always wanted to be on the road riding and starting as a complete novice i was worried this was going to be a long journey. But after careful research in finding the right place to do this i decided to go with Roadcraft. With the great reviews i had read i knew it was the go to place, (nervous) i will never forget my first time in the shop and the first thing Russ said to me "kettles still warm mate", brew in hand i immediately felt welcome as he talked me through the process from doing my CBT right through to the Mod2. So i got the ball rolling and was introduced to Leanna, this lady is amazing everything i know about riding and road safety is all because of the lessons I've had with Leanna absolutely brilliant, sometimes i dont know how she noticed my minor mistakes but she did always 100% accurate. Leanna fine tuned me into being a great and confident rider and because of this i now hold a full uk licence and after writing this i will be taking my bike out for the first time and it is all thanks to Roadcraft nottingham. If you want to learn to ride a motorbike, learn how to do it properly, defensively and properly then Roadcraft have you covered. I was personally on a tight learning time frame and a full licence was needed quickly. Everything was spot on, from initial direct access assessment, to CBT, road learning and MOD 1 & MOD 2 practice to passing both test first time (MOD 1 without minors!) these guys are fantastic. Russ, Jon, Richard, Paul and Bob all looked after me. Jon was my primary instructor and he was brilliant, taught me well, gave me the confidence to ride properly and ultimately helped me pass! All the guys here are more than capable of giving every learner the best experience possible. You won’t regret learning with Roadcraft, I guarantee it.

the training and the feed back you get from the instructors is absolutely fantastic. they do not push you beyond your limit but do get the best out of your ride. i passed my test with them just over a year ago. and to improve my riding skills i have been on the ERS which i would encourage every one to do after a year of riding. i had a great ride out and the feed back was really constructive. thank you all at road craft and a thank you leanne.

Absolutely fantastic training school. Russ and the guys are really laid back and a really good laugh which really elevates any tension. You're trained in manageable sessions so you aren't overwhelmed. I can see why they have such a high pass rate. Can't praise them enough. Quite simply the best bunch of experience motorcyclists I've ever met. I did my CBT with them back in October 2018 and went straight on to do my full bike licence with them because of the positive experienced had. There friendly but fair approach to training is fantastic, measured and monitored performance by each instructor led to tailored lesson making my whole journey from CBT to passing my MOD2 today as simple as it could be. well 3 lessons in total so a huge thank you to Russ and the team for getting me over the line. First class training not only to get you up to test standard but also some really helpful and useful hints and tips for riding safely once you're on your own. With the help of Roadcraft I managed to pass both Mod 1 and 2 (had to do mod 2 in Chesterfield due to timetabling/availability on my part) without any faults, special thanks to Leanna, with whom I had most of my lessons! Seldom do I post reviews on Google (in fact this might be my first!) I wish to extend my deepest gratitude to Roadcraft Nottingham. I can’t recommend this school enough. It is clear that Russ and the other folk here know their stuff. If you are thinking of starting to ride go here. I started with zero experience or knowledge of bikes and not once did they make me feel uncomfortable. I knew I was dealing with honest individuals when I asked Russ whether I’d require any further lessons before sitting my Mod 2 test. His response was that he didn’t think I needed it. He could of easily ripped me off but his response truly reflected the schools honest integrity. Learning to ride had its ups and downs (no pun intended) but man I enjoyed it! All the best guys. Took my CBT today with Bill in the first step toward my full motorcycle licence, I’d ridden before a few years ago and was very rusty, but Bill was very patient and encouraging. Great motorcycling school. They took me from someone who hadn't ridden for quiet a few years (if you can call fizzing round Asia on mopeds and Soviet bikes 20 years ago riding) and within a handful of months got me through my CBT, MOD 1 and 2, all passed first time! Great work guys and thank you. First and foremost they'll get you to ride a bike right; and then from this will flow the skills needed to pass your tests . Natalie Hodges was Adam - Absolutely A* training. Staff are patient, professional, and approachable. Being a female taking up biking I was initially anxious thinking that taking on the predominant male hobby I would have been ridiculed. Could not have been more wrong. They even cater for the dwarfs like me with lowered bikes. I felt like giving up a few times when training got hard, but the staff kept me going and did not let me give up. Huge thanks to all involved in my training, esp the wonderful john and lovely Lianna. Russ your expert feedback and banter kept me going on the cold wet rides out. Start to finish a great experience. Very polite and useful on the phone booked CBT very quickly and was very useful giving more information. CBT itself was great. Came away not with just the bare minimum to be on the road but also lots of great general advice about motorbikes and tips beyond the bare minimum. Couldn't ask for more service wise. Great place. Went here today for a refresher/confidence booster 1 hour lesson with Russ. Nice easy style and very confidence inspiring. Just what you need when returning to riding after too many years away. Hope to do an all day advanced with them later in the year. By the way, having a lesson on wet/damp roads is actually a really good idea. Less good getting soaked on the way home !!! Thanks Russ. UPDATE ! Went back and booked a FULL DAY ADVANCED training day. Me and my brother had an entire day in July being tutored by Russ. He will look at you riding and give you hints and tips. The day is very much tailored to areas of your riding that you want to work on. You get to try out techniques on appropriate stretches of road so that you feel challenged but still in control. Great for people recently returned to riding like us or for the more experienced who maybe want to get quicker by getting smoother. You can only come away from one of these sessions riding quicker and safer. I was amazed how much the bike could actually do! All this, plus a copy of the day's on bike video which Russ will edit down with the commentary for you. Add in the roads in Derbyshire and the sunshine ( I don't think they can promise that ) and it makes a great day out. Thanks again Roadcraft. *****

I had an advanced riding 1-on-1 day with Russ who was accompanied by his partner (i'm SO sorry, I've forgotten your name; Leona?) who was observing in preparation of qualification as an advanced instructor. We spent the entire day riding in the absolutely stunning Peak District, with Russ following and, after making an initial assessment of my riding ability, providing tailored instruction focused on addressing the issues that i had picked up in the relatively short 3000 miles since getting my license. Russ' style of teaching was super calm and absolutely pragmatic. I was given plenty of opportunity to ask questions about some of the concerns that i had since passing my test. Much of the tuition felt far more practical when applied to the everyday riding that we all do. Both Russ and his partner (again, i'm so sorry!) were fantastic people to spend a day with, with both the riding and time off the bike being an absolute blast. It felt like paying a reasonable amount for a day-long guided tour of the Peak District with some expert riding tuition thrown in for free. I would absolutely recommend Roadcraft Nottingham for anyone in the area (and beyond, I traveled from Portsmouth) seeking some advanced tuition. Thanks so much!

Amazing experience from start to finish. From the introductory lesson up at the Gurkha Kitchen all the way through to my Mod 2 test everyone has been professional, friendly and really genuine. Even at the expense of making more money out of me than they could have done, everyone at Roadcraft has given me great service and advice on the best way to proceed through my training. I've been meaning to post this review for the last month as credit where credit due this business and team are amazing. After years of contemplating taking the plunge in to the world of motorcycling I finally decided and picked Roadcraft based on reviews I had read. My journey started on the 7th October completing my CBT and I genuinely didn't know how long it would take or how much it would cost, should I pay for the full course or the pay as you go option. After my first lesson there was complete honesty from the team where they advised me to just go PAYG option as it would be much cheaper for me, they could have easily taken the full cost of the set course. The end result was a quick pass through my Mod 1 and a week later through my Mod 2, all done in 3 weeks. Thank you to all of the team for the great fun and amazing training I will be back for some advanced riding. Passed my test with these two years ago! I could ride bikes but not road worthy. And decieded at 43 to pass my test and whent to roadcraft nottingham. Russ the instructor took me through the procedure and made lessons very easy and within a few lessons had me booked in for test and passed with ease as Russ said i would. There is no draging lessons out when you are ready for test they will yell you. If thats 1 lesson or ten. Today after 2 years i whent out on a advanced lesson with Russ and was amazed at how the change in my riding came along over the hours we spent out. Learnt alot Was realy impressed. Overall the shop as a great atmosphere and banter, the instructors are all great and helpfull and with Russ running the show. its a place i recommend to any friends who are looking to pass test. My brother did his there and he had same experience as me. So highly recomend for anyone wanting to pass bike test. I have also found the sales shop and garage great to, having used that for mot and repairs. Yet again great staff and very noligable on bikes great sevice thanks guys keep it up.

Cbt, mod1, and mod2 (das) completed here. Bikes are modern. Used mt07 throughout. Had option to try others. Training completed mostly with Leanna. 2 hour lesson costs £60. Equipment was provided free. All tests passed first time. To top it off people at Colwick test centre are nicer than other test centres have been to. Cheers guys!

With bike and clothing hire an ideal place to have a taster session if your thinking if learning to ride. The Best Intructers and totaly sincere towards their pupils. I did my CBT with them back in 2017. I went straight to roadcraft for my Full licence with them because of the positive experience i had. I had less than 20 days to pass my mod1 and mod2 tests as my theory and CBT was about to expire. But Russ went out of his way to find some space in their busy schedule to train me for Unristricted license in such short notice. He booked the tests for me and the dates were hard to find. They took my training like a project. Russ runs a terrific operation. I'm an experienced (old) rider from the USA, and I came to Roadcraft Nottingham to pick up a few lessons from a new perspective. Mission was most definitely accomplished as I've already started applying some of the techniques and concepts used at Roadcraft in my own riding back home. First time reviewing a place. But I would definitely recommend going here. They give you "taster tests" to get you used to the bike so you are more confident on the bike for your CBT. On the CBT they will decide if they think you'll be safe on the road or not. If not they'll explain why and give you advice to improve next time. Spent the day on an advanced course with Russ - I have been riding for three years and just needed what I thought were a few pointers. I had spent some time watching the you tube videos and liked his style of teaching. Russ was fantastic, very patient and explained what we were doing in detail but at a level that I could understand. Everything was at my pace and although I was pushed to explore new techniques, I was given the encouragement and confidence to attempt them. We concentrated on what I was concerned about (cornering) but many other topics were covered which showed some of the bad habits I had picked up and tips to put in place to remedy these. I have come away from the course feeling safer, more confident and with plenty to practise and his voice in my head asking why I'm positioned where I am on the road! 5 Stars all round and highly recommended. Worth every penny and considering I made the trip from Aberdeenshire for the course, definitely worth the trip.

Amazing bunch of guys. I never rode a bike and in september thisI year 2017 I did my cbt and learned how to ride a geared bike. I had bill who took me for the rode test taught me a massive amount even in one day. Then russ took me out for lessons right through the mod 1 and mod 2 right to passing and getting my full A bike licence in december 2017. I was was aware that I was fundamentally getting advanced tuition because of the pure detail/passion for safety he goes into over the bluetooth and bollocking me. Watching the Positioning/turning of drivers car tyres turning as you approach and watching events unfold and describing them to you etc amazing danger awareness like a sodding jedi he can see it happening before it does. It makes you feel in control enough to enjoy the power of a bike and to use it for what its designed for.

I searched for all the schools in the midlands and decided upon Roadcraft on Beechdale road due to their length of operation, customer care, relaxed environment and positive comments by other pupils and customers. I originally passed in 2001 or so and rode until around 2010. I am now looking to get another motorcycle but will be revisiting Roadcraft for some lessons to get back into the swing of riding. The mechanic is also very good and helpful so its nice to be able to have all motorcycle related services under one roof to ensure a good service whether you are learning or using the workshop. The videos are excellent and lots of common sense honest reviews.FIrst road a bike (in a field) over 40 years ago and have been riding on and off road ever since , but still willing to learn.
