Everyone is incredibly welcoming, friendly and supportive and Tim is a great teacher who encourages, guides and helps you develop with confidence. The weekly classes are brilliant and there’s always something to take part in like Screen School, showreel, writing classes and voice over workshops. I had never done any acting but always wanted to and The Actors Workshop couldn’t of been a better place to start! I’ve fallen in love with acting and I’m enjoying being me. Definitely 5 stars ⭐️

Being able to go to class and create, play and explore with friends who are skilled in a multitude of areas (not just acting) is fantastic. Tim has noticed my strengths, as well as the areas I need to improve, and pushed me to realise my true potential. This, combined with the constant support and generosity of my friends at the workshop, I feel capable of far more than I did 3 years ago. I can't recommend the workshop enough.

G. B.I've been with AW for a few years now and I'm extremely glad I found it as there was/is a lack of classes out there for adults wanting to train regularly. It's helped me realise that drama school is not the only route into the acting industry and opportunities will come if you're willing to put the graft in! There is an excellent variety of practical + theory work and Screen School was a huge highlight of my 2020. I had my first experience of corporate filming a few weeks ago thanks to the casting opportunities which become available to those in the workshop. What I found was an incredible group of supportive and creative people and a completely safe environment in which to learn. I'm just starting to get to know the guys and to feel confident in my ability. I feel like I can now openly share ideas with the group when doing sessions and the sessions help in my confidence generally which i did not expect. I try to take in all hints and tips, and this is a great place to learn and harness the craft.
Its a great starting base for actors new to the acting role, and the additional workshops, where there are guest speakers present like casting directors ect really helps and inspires you.
I've always wanted to get into acting, and although I've only done stage work with a community theatre group, I quickly felt comfortable.

V. B.I have absolutely loved attending the actors workshop on a Wednesday evening. I had been drama school trained but out of circulation for many years bringing up my children alone. Tim helped me regain my confidence, think on my feet, disperse anxiety and perform with subtlety and believability. With lots of amazing theatre games, improv and scene work, the actors workshop really gives you the tools you need to be a great actor. I highly recommend attending the classes.. And the many workshops Tim provides outside of normal classes, such as meditation for actors and PEM technique.

I've been a member since September 2014 and have found it essential to the development of my skills. Now that we meet weekly it really has become a really solid course. The workshop leaders are all working actors and directors, the students are a great bunch too. Such a variety of ages, backgrounds and styles but all working together well. There's links to the film industry and casting opportunities too. Brilliant.

Coming away from it I actually know what I'm doing and as drama school auditions are all self tapes I don't think I could do as well as I I'm without the workshop. Couldn't recommend enough.

Workshops are all industry relevant and give practical advice and usable content (already I have a pair of voice over samples and a short scene for a show reel and I have only been a member for a month!).
Tim makes the sessions fun and challenging and has a wealth of knowledge about the industry that he is more than willing to impart.
Regardless of wether you are an amateur, novice, just out of drama school or seasoned professional (like me) these workshops will keep you on your game.
The group is wonderful too. Friendly, willing to work and from a diverse array of backgrounds and experiences there is always something to learn or try out.
Tim provides such a wonderful service to the actors of this area and for the price of membership you get so much more than the other workshops that I have been part of whilst based in London.

Tim and his team work really hard each week to deliver a fresh,fun class that you leave feeling like you've made real development. The class attracts such a diverse group of people from all ages and walks of life, but it works so well and everyone is so supportive of each other that it makes for a safe environment to push your self past your comfort zone and become a little better every week.

A. D.I recently attended Tim Bryn Smith's specialist workshop 'Acting Industry 101'. It was informative and inspiring and gave me some solid practical ideas on how to progress within the acting industry. It was also an enjoyable and entertaining 3 hours!
The Actors Workshop: Acting classes for adults without selling your home, kidney, mother to attend drama school. I’ve been going to classes regularly for over a year and a half. For adults, like me, with jobs and responsibilities, it’s perfect! I can undergo great training weekly without risking my home and general security. You get the best of both worlds. Or you could give up your job and go to drama school for £9000 a year! Having had a taste of a full-time drama education I believe the training at the actors workshop is better. It’s aimed at screen acting and feels… relevant. This is how actors train in the US and it’s happening right here, in Nottingham. I can’t believe my luck. For the first time in my life I feel like I’m in the right place at the right time!
I like the egalitarian nature of the Actors Workshop. It gives everyone a chance. You don’t need a certain background. Everyone from seasoned theatre veteran to absolute beginner gets an opportunity. It makes it much more exciting. It’s a vibrant melting pot of ideas and talent. All ages from 18 to retired attend.
It also suits different aims and ambitions: I know someone who attends purely for confidence-building but many others star in short films regularly via contacts made through the Actors Workshop.
Oh, and perhaps I should mention that it’s fun and I have a blast!

The Wednesday night classes are a highlight of each week, and have even helped preserve sanity during both lockdowns. I am still buzzing after attending yesterday's Acting Industry 101 with Tim Smith - this invaluable workshop was absolutely fascinating, and vital for those of us trying to navigate the industry from the ground up. Tim's material was incredibly well organised and structured, and he managed to strike a tone that was upbeat and positive, but also truthful and realistic. T.Have been going to workshop for a year now and what started as a bit of fun has recently lead to my first paid acting job ☺ The classes are varied and go into detail in a variety of techniques and styles. Being quite new to acting, the pace of the class matached where we were as a group and we were allowed time to feel comfortable working together before we were pushed to do anything too nerve wracking. Having said that, the atmosphere is one of great support and you are very much encouraged to step out of your comfort zone in a non judgemental space. We spent time looking at screen acting and even going through the process of a casting, reading a part to camera and watching it back for feedback. N. A.I joined The Actors Workshop November 2015. I am a professional Opera singer and have spent hundreds of hours singing and acting on stage but had always wanted to try my hand at straight acting. The only way I could have done this would have been by joining an amateur dramatic society or trying to sign up to a pro acting course. Neither of which I had the time for because of my work. S. B.Just participated in a PEM (Perdekamp Emotional Method) workshop organised by the Actors' Workshop Nottingham. What an interesting, informative and amazing experience. I learned so much about accessing emotions without having to have a strong memory trigger for that emotion. It is a truly powerful tool, so useful for all actors, but I would imagine especially useful for younger actors with less life experience to draw upon. This was really just an introduction, I hope I will be able to explore this method more in the future. Roll on the next workshop!
N. B.I attended the 101 workshop yesterday (20/8/16) hosted by Tim Bryn Smith.
It was most definitely the most informative 3 hours I've spent sat down in a long time!!
I'm learnt so much about how to make use of googling producers, directors, actors etc so when you do get chance to be on a set you will have the knowledge to make that very important first impression and with regard to actors who you identify with who their agents are etc
I also learnt a lot more about Tim which I can only say is a good thing - he's a great presenter and madelete the workshop fun, so much fun the time just flew but I left feeling so much better about myself and equipped with knowledge that I know will help me to work towards my dreams.

Topics including understanding Shakespeare, the Meissner approach to understanding acting script writing explored within a safety net of the workshop group members. The. Modules continue throughout the year, enhancing individual group members skills and understanding of the acting industry..
