My brothers and I all attended Leighton Park. It was not a wholly wonderful experience, and I was a lazy student, preferring to enjoy the park land the school was in, the sport and the friendships. But I met some incredible teachers, was touched by the Quaker ethic, and believe that the school gave me an important foundation on which my life has grown and developed. What I am particularly amazed by is the close friendships that formed at the school and which I still enjoy and value to this day.

My daughter attended Leighton Park From Year 8 to Year 11. She had an absolutely fantastic experience, and they gave her the most fantastic support with her dyslexia. She came as a young person with incredibly low self esteem due to her additional needs but left with enormous confidence, pride and 7 level 9 GCSEs, 2 level 8s an A* and a distinction* in a BTEC. She is now studying 4 A levels at college and is on a program to apply for Oxbridge and is seriously considering a career in politics. None of this would have been possible without the care and attention She received at LP.
Their Individual Learning Centre where help is given to students with specific learning difficulties is top notch.
Even more important than the qualifications is the sense of community and responsibility that my daughter learnt whilst there.
All of the teachers genuinely care.
We were so grateful when Covid hit, with how swiftly they put in to action on the line learning . She was Year 10 and taught every day.
The pastoral care shines at this place.
If you are considering Leighton Park for your son or daughter, I cannot recommend it highly enough.

The main benefit of Leighton Park is the smaller class sizes. Some of the teachers really do care about the kids but I don't get the sense it's radically different to any state school. When it comes down to it, Leighton Park is a business and all pastoral care is trumped by the accounts department who will quote the notice period in the contract at you if you decide things aren't working for you and insist you pay the existing term and for an extra term, even if you cancel near the start of a term. My son was previously at sixth form at Maiden Erlegh, but switched to Leighton Park due to COVID, and in his experience the quality of the Maths department was higher there. The downside, in his opinion, was the number of students. If you remember the Friends episode where they tried to quit the gym, that's what enrolling in Leighton Park is like. Unfortunately we enrolled so we have to see it through now but it was probably a mistake. Money doesn't guarantee you'll get the best education.

Leighton Park School is an amazing senior school in the heart of Reading. Respect between staff and students is key to the positive, supportive atmosphere where individuals can flourish. If you're looking for a thriving co-ed school with strong academic results and a vast co-curricular programme then make sure you sign up for an open day and take a look!

Great Values, Great Teachers & Great Facilities
The broad, multi-cultural and inclusive character of the school gives each pupil the opportunity to make choices and to participate, and to develop as a unique individual: to “let their lives speak”.

I attended Leighton Park from about 1966-71. I had a happy and fulfilling time here, and left with fond memories. I was in Reckitt House which I'm sad to see has gone.
