I joined Swindon Young Actors when I was about 6 or 7 and stayed till I was 20! Going to SYA was genuinely one of the best decisions I've made (well my mum made it initially) in my life.
As a young boy and awkward teenager, SYA built up my confidence and gave my a lifelong group of friends. Who still meet up now, even though we've all gone our separate ways. I'm currently in my last year at Drama school and I would not have got here without Marks superb teaching. Mark was teaching me acting techniques when I was 8 years old, that my drama school teachers are teaching me now!
I can't recommend Swindon Young Actors enough, it's by far the best drama group in Swindon. And possibly the country.

Swindon Young Actors has been a part of my life for many years now. I started at the age of 5 and Mark and his team have not only provided me with an incredible training, but with skills and a friendship group that will last a life time.
I will never stop recommending this group to people. Whether you want to be an actor, build up your confidence, or just enjoy the arts; SYA is the place to be. I would not be who/where I am today without it.

Swindon Young Actors have been around for many years now. And I can say I had the pleasure of being with them right at the start.
After 10+ years the teachings of Mark and his team are fantastic.
Prossional and personal, the training not only gave me confidence but I also made life long friends.
SYA aren't just classes for acting but classes for life, you are not just a student you become part of the SYA family.
5 stars just arent enough for these guys.

SYA was an enormous part of my development as a kid, teenager and adult. The friendships and skills I picked up as a result of going to Mark's classes every week will stay with me forever. (I had beers with some friends from SYA over the weekend, we're now all in our 30's..!)
The classes and group atmosphere influenced me way beyond pursuing my passion interest in drama.
To this day, every job interview, presentation and public speaking engagement I have has been better because of my time at SYA; I am a more confident and sociable person because of the supportive and inspiring atmosphere at SYA.
I couldn't recommend them highly enough.

Swindon Young Actors was a major part of my life and one I miss to this day! The level of discipline learned not just applies to acting but also helps development into adulthood, can say without a doubt that this group had a fantastic influence on my own development.
I remember doing straight acting plays, full blown musicals and everything in between and of course the annual trip to the Edinburgh Fringe is a great experience which helps young adults learn about independence as well as just enjoying a different city and the arts.
Can't recommend enough.

Professionally and personally speaking, SYA played a huge part in my childhood/teenage years, and Mark's training is with me everyday in my professional life. I am now a lecturer at a university, and in every class, or lecture, or paper I deliver I use the techniques I learnt at SYA. I 'stand in neutral' at the beginning of a talk, I know how to use my diaphragm to project my voice across a room. I can speak clearly, confidently, and with energy when I am engaging with the public. This all came from weekly drama lessons and Mark's constant encouragement.
Mark also helped me become who I am today. He is, without a doubt, one of the best teachers I have ever had. My times with SYA - on trips to Edinburgh or Epping Forest, or else taking part in productions, or, when we got older, going to the pub - were the best part of growing up in Swindon for me. I cannot recommend SYA highly enough!

SYA brought me so many incredible experiences and the chance to explore my ideas and perspectives on a whole range of different issues. Mark also worked a lot with the physical aspect of theatre, teaching us how to carry ourselves and move with confidence. This has helped me hugely as I've grown older and - I like to think - gives me a bit of an edge when it comes to things like job interviews. Basically, I think I'm a more interesting and confident person because of SYA. Three cheers for me (I mean SYA)!

SYA was my life until my early 20's. The family, the community, the support given to each other both in the classroom and out I have never been able to fully comprehend. SYA gave all of us such a positive way to express ourselves in a secure environment, we were encouraged to push boundaries, explore further and work harder! The discipline and skill taught by Mark made us shine when we performed to friends, family, at festivals etc. We were all so proud to be a part of SYA and wear our colours with pride!
SYA gives me the fondest memories of Swindon, in summer on weekends we would socialise together, in the snow we would meet on the weekends for giant snowball fights & sledging, as we got older our Christmas eve meet up became a very happy tradition that i miss so much these days!
I would love for every child in Swindon to be lucky enough to get a place in Marks classes, it will be hard work, you will have fun and above all you will have an extended family forever!
Big up SYA!

Was taught at Swindon Young Actors for nearly 18 years. Exceptional teaching, and good moral code for committing to classes and your peers here; great teaching provided often off the cuff as well as straight from the studies of well-known drama pioneers.
Good for:
- Confidence building
- Those who want to pursue the industry before actively paying for drama schools after college
- Making friends out of school/education
