Found Hutton’s online because I was coming to Edinburgh for a wedding and need to get a pair of brogues repaired - new soles and heels. The team there have done an incredible job. The built up the worn-down leather and added rubber soles and heels. Even gave the shoes a polish. They’re as good - if not better - than new. And the price was really reasonable. Cannot recommend Hutton’s highly enough.

I have just picked up my Chelsea boots, one of which was chewed by our puppy. Hutton’s have carried out a fabulous repair. I am struggling to see which boot was repaired. Repair was done very quickly and for extremely reasonable price. This is a business to be cherished.

I have a pair black cowboy boots, about 20 years old, which I hadn't worn in years, because they had worn down around the toe and heel, but I didn't want to part with them. So I found Hutton shoe repair, took them in, and within the week, they had a new sole and heel! I was taken back at how good they were, I was gob-smacked! - they even buffed up the scuffed toe! I've attached a picture of them(I've worn them since repair.) So, I handed over a pair of dress shoes I had in WORSE condition, the toe was almost kicked out to the leather, the heels worn to an angle. And within the week, they had done the same great job! I even took in a pair of walking boots that are my favourites - almost moulded to my feet, the toe was kicked out again, heel almost worn down, and Hutton Shoe repair came through yet again! They even repaired my wifes shoes that she's had for 5 years, they are her winter boots. She didn't want to wear them because they were so worn, yet didn't want to throw them out because they were so good - and Hutton repaired them easily, in time for winter! I can't recommend Hutton shoe repair enough. Easy to travel to, easy to park if you bring the car. Great service, friendly people, and a bargain price for repairing your favourite shoes!!!

I'm so very very happy right now. I put my cowboy boots in here to get re-soled and heeled last week. I just picked them up today and these guys have done a fantastic job fixing them (they were in a bit of a state 😅). Soles and heels like new and all for a very reasonable price (actually a lot cheaper than I thought it would be). They also stretched out a pair of boots I've had for a few years and been unable to wear as they were 1/2 size too small. They are now super comfortable. Both boots cost me a grand total of £38 to get sorted and (considering what I originally paid for them in Texas) I really can't grumble at this to give them a new lease of life. Would very highly recommend and will definitely be back. 🤠

I took my favourite Scarpa walking boots to Huttons having consulted specialist repairers who said they were not repairable! Although I live on the other side of Edinburgh it was worth it. They did an excellent repair job.

I cannot rate highly enough for high end shoes. Brought in a pair of redwings which had been previously resoled and damaged by another repairer. On visiting staff game me options of what i could do with the shoes as well as suggestions of what to do and also informed me that what i was expecting might not be achievable. Finally collected my boots which I had fallen out of love with to be handed back what looked like a brand new pair of redwings with new leather insole, mid sole ,cork and sole. slipping them back on felt like brand new boots. Cannot recommend highly enough for quality of craftsmanship and customer service!!

Fantastic quality of work and customer service. I went here after contacting numerous other cobblers and being told repeatedly that my boots were unrepairable due to the thickness of the sole. I was really surprised when Huttons said that my boots could be fixed no problem and they could even replicate some specific detailing on the side of the sole (which every other place had told me was impossible). When I picked up my boots, I was amazed! They look exactly the same as the original but with a much better quality sole, and they were £5 cheaper than I was initially quoted! Additionally, the turnaround time was very quick, only a few days (I had expected much later due to Christmas/New Year). Would absolutely recommend, especially to those with chunky soled/Doc Marten style boots which can be hard to repair!

Took in a pair of leather upper golf shoes where the soles and grips were completely shot. He resoled and heeled them, inserted new receptacles for the grippers and the finish is as good as new. Completed delighted with the end result. No hesitation in recommending this place. Far better than buying a new pair of shoes when the uppers were still in good condition.

Old fashioned shoe repair They do a really good job at a reasonable price, and give you an accurate quote beforehand. Had a new zip put in a pair of boots, you couldn't tell them from new when they were finished. Can't recommend them highly enough.

Great wee shop. They did an amazing job of fixing up my boots which were well past their best. I've also had keys cut here. Two sets cut in 10mins before 9am on a Saturday all at a very reasonable price. Can't ask for better than that!

Took in a pair of boots to get a hole in one stitched up. Not only was the damaged boot repaired, but the other boot had it's stitching strengthened and the boots were polished as well. All for such a great price. Very happy with the excellent service.

I did a fair bit of research before taking my boots to Huttons and I can confidently say that they are worth every penny. Really great service. I had Goodyear Welt leather soles converted to a dainite sole and heel and am delighted with the results. The craftsmanship at Huttons is second to none. Staff were very helpful and polite. I'll definitely be back!

I'm pretty fussy about my shoes and haven't found a good cobbler in a very long time. Well, not one that i think has a good grasp of the trade, is personable and has a high quality finish. I'd seen this shop a couple of times as I passed through Leith and thought I'd pop in to give them a chance. 3 pairs of shoes later I couldn't be happier. Ian has taken two pairs of shoes that i was loathed to give up on, but had been worried that one of your 'standard' high street shoe repair places would ruin and made them as good as new. Neither pair was straight forward and the service that i received was first rate. You don't find 'old fashioned' customer care and pride in their work every day, but you find it in bucket loads here. Looks like a cobblers, smells like a cobblers and cobbles shoes. Can't ask for more, happy not to ever expect less ever again. Two massive thumbs up!!

Totally recommend! My boyfriend took in his cowboy boots, as the soles and heels started to be really worn out and made it impossible for him to wear them anymore. For what I thought was a very decent price, they replaced the soles, re-built the heel (most cobblers we've been to before refused to deal with cuban heels or asked for ridiculous prices) and tidied up the entire look of the boot. Overall, the boots look like new!

I'd held off taking a pair of Premiata Chelsea Boots to high street cobblers to be re-soled and re-heeled because of my concern that the job wouldn't be up to scratch and would ruin the boots. I couldn't send the boots back to Premiata, that would have been super expensive as they are based in Italy. After some internet research I came across Hutton's and given the great reviews decided to take the boots there. I was also attracted to the store after finding it is a traditional, local, family business which has been running for many years from Elgin Terrace. I'm really glad I took the boots into this cobbler. The job really surpassed my expectations and far from ruined boots, when i collected them they were like New! Fantastic local service and highly recommended.

I was looking to have my Red Wing boots resoled and after trying three other cobblers in Edinburgh who said they couldn’t do it I went down to Huttons who said it was no problem. The work was first class and very reasonably priced and Ian had even gently aged the white crepe soles to blend in with the age of the boots having remembered a comment I’d made about it when I dropped them off. In a time when overpriced high street chains like Timpsons are forcing small family businesses out, this kind of craftsmanship, value and friendly, individual service deserves every success. If you need shoe/boot repairs I highly recommend you take it to Ian and Cameron at Huttons.

I live in Linlithgow and I wanted my Loakes brogues resoled in Dainite. Took them to Hutton's and I must say I'm extremely pleased with the quality of the job. It's a bit of a trek if you walk from Princes Street, but you can get a 34 bus along London Road and get off just before the Easter Road junction. Buses back to Princes Street are numerous. These guys are craftsmen, so the journey is well worth the effort. For shoe repairs I now won't go anywhere else. Thanks Ian and co.

I had taken two new pairs of cowboy boots to Timpsons for alterations that they assured me could be done and back inside a week. Six weeks later they came back-only ready for the bin ( at a loss of £200 +) Having searched on Google,I took them to Huttons to see if they could be salvaged and I an felt that they could be. Not only were they salvaged but in five days they were ready to wear including the alterations messed up by Timpsons ! I was also charged a third of what Timpsons had wanted. It was a lesson that the local artisan is often a far better choice than the multi and I am extremely grateful to Ian and all at Huttons

This is a brilliant coblers family run great service nothing to much for them they repaired my rucksack and it was very reasonable also made a name plaque for my door anything needing mended only takes a day or so good service and not as expensive as some of their competitors they have a charity basket for unwanted footwear which they repair and send it to poorer countries at their expense great wee shop
