Went in there yesterday and brought a great product , a leather balm which does a brilliant job of hydrating leather . The assistant was really helpful and took his time explaining how the balm was to be applied. First class service.

I told myself I didn't need any new shoes and I was on holiday, but who can walk past a Loake shop without at least taking a look inside?! The store is fairly new in Edinburgh having arrived (I believe) at the beginning of 2017, and whilst the branding is Loake, it does not belong to the Northampton company but rather a small but growing shoe business called The Brogue Trader. When I walked in, there was only one member of staff there (Rob?) who was serving another customer who told me that a colleague would be back soon to assist me. There was a good selection from the Loake range on display, and my eyes were drawn to a pair of Loake Chesters in mahogany. Before I went any further, I asked if it would be possible for any shoes I purchased to be sent to my home address as I had flown to Edinburgh and would have limited luggage space - there was no problem with this, and they would be courier free of charge! A short time later, the other member of staff returned and I was introduced to James. I told him what I was looking at and he took me through the fitting, including measuring my feet for the first time in about 25 years! Although I'm usually a size 10G, James felt that the Chester with its narrower F fitting would be okay and I tried on a 10 and a 9.5. The 10 was too large, and the 9.5 was almost perfect - a little tight in some places, but to be expected with a brand new shoe. I tried the 10 again but with an insole, but the 9.5 was the better fit. So, the shoes I didn't need were duly purchased! James took all of my details and explained their loyalty card - buy 6 pairs from a Brogue Trader store, and get the 7th free (based on average cost of the previous 6 pairs)! Absolutely stellar service, which was even more evident on my return home: a few days later my shoes were delivered, and once I removed the delivery box, the shoe box was perfectly wrapped in brown paper and tied up with string - proper old-fashioned customer service!

I now better understand why my husband is well on his way to having a collection of Loake shoes. We were in Edinburgh for his birthday and he wanted to get another pair of shoes (which turned into two pairs). He had previously said how much he enjoyed shopping at your store and asked me to join him; I said yes of course to spending his birthday as he pleased. The shoes are indeed well made but like all other reviews state, it's the service that makes buying and owning the shoes an exceptional experience. So much so that I tried on pairs of the women's shoes and boots. After much back and forth I decided on the boots but needed to try a size smaller to make a final decision. Unfortunately the smaller size was out of stock but they swiftly worked as a team to source another pair. Many thanks to Alex, Ryan and Robert for enjoying what they do and providing excellent customer service. I will definitely be back so please encourage the powers-that-be to expand the women's line. I'm confident in saying that your customer base would increase dramatically!

'Feel the love' - that's what we say in our family for any emotionally invested purchase. After a tough year and to mark a significant event I considered investing in a quality pair of shoes. Online research complete, I intended only to drop in & have a look. My partners sole came away on his boot and I thought when we came for our annual visit to Edinburgh they'd just glue it back. However today we're in receipt of a beautifully freshly soled pair of boots. They've been polished expertly and new laces too.What fantastic care your guys give. So glad i bought quality boots. As ever it was an absolute pleasure to visit the store. Every time I'm in a town which has a Loake store, I have to visit. Every time I'm greeted as a member of the family. Robert, Bryan and Rhonan were the perfect hosts, giving fabulous service, polishing up boots that weren't even their product and giving great advice on how to keep my shoes in tip-top condition. On top of that we had a dram, chocolates, and even a sip of 25-year old rum from a fellow customer. When my family arrived to chivvy me along, they were greeted with just as much enthusiasm and given a warm good bye when I was finally dragged out of the shop. This is why I will only ever buy Loake shoes for business, formal and casual wear.

Very good shoes. After I bought them I found out that there are some tiny flaws on the shoes. The staff explained to me that it's very normal because it's handmade. I accepted it at the end. However, there is only one thing that makes me feel not very happy. The staff said that no one has ever reported the same problem on the shoes like me. To me it seems that he thinks me a picky costumer, which I certainly don't agree with. Overall they are patient and polite, and I am happy with the purchase. Maybe next time I have to check thoroughly on the shoes before I buy them.

The Loake shop in Edinburgh is Many great reviews have been written about The Loake Shoemakers shop and The Brogue Traders, with which I wish to add another. My wife and I recently entered this cube of different life, and were reminded of how service, care and attention to detail should be. All your senses are fulfilled, from the sight of the shoes, the smell of the shoe cream, the touch of the leather, not hearing the chaotic noise from nearby Princess Street, and not forgetting, the taste of excellent complimentary refreshments offered by the staff. A special mention must go to Robert (Head of Business). He is one of those rare people who never leaves you wondering what another person might have been like in that role, in that shop. His generosity and service to his customers, whether new or regular, is lavish to the point of impoverishing himself. A real credit to any staff who learn from him, and to Loake. Oh, and let us not forget the Loake Chelsea boots we purchased. My wife now wears them with comfort, and with pride.

Loake shoes, specially those in the 1880 series, are already good in and of themselves. Add the impeccable service from this store into the mix and you have the perfect shoe shopping experience. The staff serving me was attentive, accommodating and insightful. The attention to detail in ensuring your walking out with the correct shoes is incredible. For me this is a shop that I will be returning to over and over again. Five minutes prior to my walking in. I had walked out of Church’s on George Street. Overlooked on walking In by an assistant who, was far to busy chatting up two girls who walked in and left without purchasing. £550 mistake that one. One of the best shopping experiences I've ever had. Truly. Ryan is one of the nicest, friendliest, charming, sincere, and knowledgeable sales people with whom I've ever had the pleasure to work. Stopped in a week ago to check out their gorgeous suede Chelsea boots and he was on it from the get go. Offered me a beer - a lovely IPA - and my wife wine, coffee, or tea -- she had the coffee. Sat me down, took my measurements, fitted me, and I was very happy. But that's not all: He also let me try on their top of the line shoe so I'd know my size for future purchases. We then proceeded to chat for the next 10-15 minutes about, well, life, the universe, and everything (apologies to Douglas Adams). I wanted to go have a pint with him. Seriously. Story doesn't end there. I forgot to get the VAT forms so had to run back on Saturday to collect them and he proceeded to give me a bunch of discount coupons for various attractions 'round Edinburgh. My point is: He didn't have to do that. At all. He went out of his way. I left feeling as if I'd made a new friend. If I lived in Edingburgh, not Chicago, I'd be in that store every other month, at least. If you're looking for new shoes whilst in Edinburgh, PLEASE, go to Loake's and ask for Ryan.

Excellent shop went in today. As bought pair shoes 2 weeks ago .and asked i there's anyway that shoes can be stretched a bit . The staff said no problem just bring them in and they have it done. .been in many shops and don't get service like this most of the shops in town take your cash and don't care about aftercare.

The staff is efficient and pleasant, coffee or tea is offered. The prices are about the same as in France or on the Internet, but the icing is free. The plus of Loake: the possibility of refurbishing or almost a pair of shoes for only 90 euros. (inner and outer sole, insole, and full cleaning-waxing). (Original) Un excellent accueil et une patience infinie. Parti pour acheter des monk strap, je suis finalement reparti avec des boots fourrées... C'est un lieu de tentation ! Le personnel est efficace et agréable, le café ou le thé sont proposés. Les prix sont sensiblement les mêmes qu'en France ou sur Internet, mais le glaçage est offert. Le plus de Loake : la possibilité de remettre à neuf ou quasiment une paire de chaussures pour seulement 90 euros. (semelle intérieure et extérieure, première, et nettoyage-cirage intégral).
