Really good customer service. But It’s interesting that if the shoes are handmade in Northampton, the price has gone up £200 over last year. In the sale (30% off) a pair of shoes was £500. The same pair 2 years ago in a half-price sale was £250.

Tiziano is such an incredible professional. He truly helped me understand the different characteristics of different shoes. He took the time to explain and led me to an informed decision. If you want to learn, before buying, then ask to speak to him.

Church's in Regent Street. This shoe shop is upmarket, with a capital 'u'! The shoes are all hand-made in Northampton and I believe that each pair is made from a single piece of leather by a single cobbler. They can hold their own, comfortably, with any high quality shoes in the world. They barely bother to hold sales and aim to be exclusive. Unless you really love your shoes, or you are well-heeled (in more ways than one), this place is probably not for you. Keep in mind, also, that, as the shoes are leather-soled, they'll need to be re-soled every 2 years or so. This can be done with Church's, or externally. As you can imagine, the service is impeccable and they will do their best to see that you get exactly the right size. You can get standard, wide and extra-wide fits. (The pair that I got most recently was Size 10 - wide fit. This was at the insistence of the assistant, who has since been proven to have been correct). As the prices are eye-wateringly high, by the standards of most of us, the VAT is a serious consideration and if you live abroad, you will be able to claim that back, I believe, which will help a lot. Everyone has their little luxuries; their indulgences and if, like me, shoes are yours, then go in and spoil yourself with understated excellence! They do have women's shoes and slip-ons, but men's lace-ups are their stock-in-trade. They sell wax polish, shoe cream and shoe horns and each shoe comes with its own 'Church's' cloth bag, naturally!😉

My dh loves their shoes. Bought a couple of pairs of loafers in the sale. Their sandals were one of only 13 pairs unsold worldwide, which meant they would not be going in the sale. He snapped them up anyway - and is in love with them!

Beautifully made shoes and attentive service. This store is fairly large and has both men's and women's styles. Because of its location it gets a lot of foot traffic, but there is a large staff here.

Excellent shoes, quite pricy full price, but sales often offer 30%. Ian, the store manager is probably one of the most friendliest sales assistants I've met. All in all, a very nice shopping experience.

It is late November and they seem to mostly stock summer type shoes. Had a poor selection of the Grafton shoe, aka all polished binder, and the price was a joke at over £500 for a polished binder.
