Reviews of Cobblers Nest
C. L.
Cobblers Nest is a quaint traditional Shoe Making and repair shop. It is owned and run by a real Cobbler called Henry. He has made shoes for the rich and famous and has the certificates and pictures to prove he is the genuine article.
If you need that attention to detail or want your own unique shoes he has the skill and tools to produce top quality shoes or other leather goods.
The owner Henry actually listens to what you want and makes you feel like you are a VIP because he devoted his time and attention to your needs.
I really enjoyed my experience in this shop that I found myself smilling and feeling that there are still gems like this (if you know where to look).
I will definitely be visiting this Cobblers Nest again and recommend it to those who care about there shoes and leather goods upkeep.

Bust the zip on my canvas holdall. Eric replaced the zip with a much heavier duty one and stitched the leather back again. Excellent service - above and beyond the usual!
E. P.
Wonderful experience. Stumbled upon Cobblers Nest when I needed a last minute key cut. Eric was incredibly friendly and quick - I will definitely be back again for key cutting or when I need a shoe re-soled or repaired. Highly recommend!
M. K.
Highly recommended - my shoes were repaired beautifully and more work than I paid for was done.
J. K.
I had my shoes re-heeled and re-soled for a good price, especially so given the quality of the finish. But the best bit about the experience was dropping off and collecting my shoes -- Cobblers Nest is run by an avuncular, hard-working man, who expressed his passion for his job and duly proved his talents with his work on my favourite pair of shoes. I couldn't recommend CN highly enough.
T. D.
Lovely man! Needed to get a key cut, it was a very quick process and great customer service, had a lovely conversation! Highly Recommend!
A.
I didn't know getting keys cut could be such a nice experience! Warmly welcomed, this place has good vibes, and excellent services - the keys were perfectly cut in a matter of moments. I'd definitely recommend coming here if need your keys cut, and it's a great to support an independent business. I'm really glad to have this place in my local area, and looking forward to the next visit!

Fantastic service and great job. Eric did a beautiful job on an old pair of Paul Smith patent brogues. Stripped and re-dyed like a new pair of shoes. I’m really delighted with them. Would highly recommend Cobblers Nest

Popped in to get some keys cut and was pleasantly surprised. What a great shop its an absolute gem, full of character. Eric who runs it is a genuinely nice gentleman who knows his trade.

I cannot recommend Cobblers Nest highly enough! I bought in a pair of 25 year-old RM Williams boots that I thought were beyond repair. They were masterfully restored to look as if they were brand new. He is a true artist and certainly the best cobbler in London.
A. S. J.
Excellent service. Pure art. I was referred here by two other cobblers, separately, who both said to 'ask for Eric'. Eric, a true artist, was able to alter my grandmothers leather boots, and the result is functional, long lasting, and beautiful. I can highly recommend this fine establishment, and can without a doubt say that this is THE BEST COBBLERS IN LONDON.
C. M.
Don't look any further if you want your keys cut accurately within a matter of minutes and for a reasonable price - all while supporting an independent shop that's crucial for your local community. Eric is an absolute gent and I couldn't recommend his services any more highly.
R. H. J.
Wow! What a fantastic experience I had visiting the Cobblers Nest today. Henry is a class act - he greeted me warmly as soon as I walked in and was professional, charming, and thorough throughout. I needed a key cut and the job was done to an exceptional standard with real flair - it’s these types of old fashioned, traditional, and classic stores that epitomise the best that London’s hospitality industry has to offer. If you’re looking for a real cobblers then look no further - this is the place to go! Henry is an absolute gentleman and I will definitely be back.

Henry fixed my army boots, top job! He rebuilt a new sole, basically redesigning the base to make the soles last a life time! Anyone who uses army boots will know the Vibram sole design flaw, where the sponge disintegrates, making the sole come off needing re-gluing again and again. However, Cobler's nest built a new tough sole. My boots are now serviceable, I'm super happy! They will now last a life time.
He nourished the leather too, they look almost like new. Ready for the next adventure! SN.

It's a small shop with jobs on the go, so don't expect 48 hour turnaround, but he's a chill guy and he does great work. Gave him an essentially destroyed pair of desert boots I picked up off Ebay and he gave them back to me in perfect nick. Felt like super reasonable pricing as well. Recommend.
P. S.
Before I took my boots to Cobblers, I was 0.01 decision away from throwing my old favourite boots away as the soles were half way gone and worn out.
Loving them so much, I decided to give my old friends a chance to maybe live again and took them to this place.
When I picked my boots up today I was stunned by the work he had done on them. They were so worn out but now are looking newer than ever with soles that say "we're good to go for another 10 years!"
I'm so happy and overwhelmed!!!
This place is shoes gem and the man is shoes god!!!! Thank you for your work, sir!
R. C.
This is the kind of local business we should cherish. A proper old-fashioned cobbler - not many of them left in a world of Timpsons. Henry who runs the place does excellent work. He left my leather-soled shoes looking as good as new. Maybe the most important thing is that this shop has personality. These are the sort of places we'll miss when they're gone.
A. R.
Eric has been helpful the two times I've visited - once to get additional holes punched on a few belts and another to get a heel repaired on a work shoe.
He's definitely a colorful character and seems like the person who says what he thinks rather than being overly polite. He thought my shoes were cheap ;) But hey, he's an artisan and he commented on something where he knows what he's saying, so that's fair. He's definitely commercially minded, but then again he does run his own business and has to be! The one implication (and therefore advice from me) for customers would be to politely ask if there's any leeway in his price estimate :)
J. F.
Lots of 1 star reviews for this place so thought I'd add my opinion. I've brought several pairs of shoes here over the years to be repaired or simply to have rubber soles added before wearing, and I have always been impressed with his work. Erick is very friendly and accommodating with a straightforward attitude. Recommend.
I. L.
Eric is the nicest man in the neighborhood!! I was in a rush and he closed the shop later than he should have because of me. Finished my shoes and boots nicely and I laughed my head off with his jokes meanwhile! Super skilled and nice, amazing family business. His son is just as nice and sweet! Recommended 100%. Cheap price for such good service.

Exceptional shoe repairs.
I have recently had three pairs of shoes repaired by Eric and can clearly see the expert level of craftsmanship that has been performed. When you first walk into the shop it is clear the pride taken in the work performed and the fact that the shop is a real, authentic cobblers.
The three pairs in question were in a pretty bad shape (3-6 months of solid use on each). Eric personally talked through the best repair options for each pair of shoes and made sure I was happy with the repair and the price when I dropped the shoes off. I called a few days after dropping the shoes and the shoes were ready to collect, upon collecting Eric again explained the repairs performed on each pair of shoes and they all looked as good as new!
I have worn each of the shoes since collection and they are all extremely comfortable and I can tell that a quality job has been done. Very happy and highly recommended.
N. T.
Eric told me that it was not only heels that needed to be changed but also the front sole as it was almost having a hole there of which I'd never suspect!! Another shoe maker never mentioned that and wanted £25 for changing only heels!! So happy with the done job. And also happy to see his kids working there, a true family business. Absolutely recommending!!!
A. B.
Eric doesn't only do a brilliant job of repairing shoes, he makes fabulous pairs as well. He is a true craftsman. Worth ringing to check as some reviewers have said, but that is because he takes his time to do the best job. If you state an urgency, Eric responds!
L. D.
This little repair workshop (proper equipment) is run by a very experienced shoe repairer and shoe maker with 40yr+ experiience. Workmanship superb. Rebuilt heels and sole reinforcements on a pair of Jones all leather shoes. Due to the thinness of the soles, the reinforcement layer was dunlop plastic. A new pair of all leather shoes would be £150 but £40 of repairs means my shoes are good for another 10 years - and they are worn in already. Very satisfied. Leave your number - he will call when they are ready.
E. H.
Took a patent leather doc marten in to be fixed, Eric for an excellent job of blind patching it from the inside. He doesn't always meet his deadlines but the quality of fix is worth the wait. Very reasonably priced, make sure to phone before hand to check whether it is ready for collection
C. H.
I was initially taken aback by the mixed reviews for Cobblers Nest, but now understand them. Eric is friendly, chatty and did a great job on the soles of my worn-out boots. Unfortunately, he doesn't stick to his own deadlines. Twice he gave me a date when my boots would be ready, twice I went to pick them up, only to be told he needed more time. Eric said he's thinking of introducing a system where he rings people when their shoes are ready - sounds like a good idea.
a. r.
Good service by a friendly chap who is keen to do a good job. Interesting little shop with a range of handmade shoes, warch batteries, straps, belts, bags, laces and socks! Recommend calling before you go to pickup as doesn’t always have worked done by initial deadline, but if you can deal with that this is a gem of a place.
R. T.
A lovely little shop ran by someone genuine. Wanted two keys cut, reviews around London Bridge weren't great but cobblers nest seemed like a safe bet.
I'm so glad I decided to walk the additional distance as I got to experience a lovely shop ran by a lovely gentleman. It felt like this was my local key cutters that I had be going to for years.
I could have easily have gone to a chain to get my key cut but I would have missed the experience of going to what felt like my local cutters. The cost of getting two keys cut was extremely reasonable.
I would definitely go here again to support local trade rather than chains, we such friendly service they deserve it!
D. G.
Dream find for any leather-loving officiandos or old schoolers who's favourite boots are in acheing need of a reheel. Exactly the kind of ye olde den you might dream up to help heal your worn out wear.
Eric did true tradesman jobs of replacing and restiching the zipper on my leather jacket, when many others had bulked at the idea. A fantastic find, and even more important institution in an age where mantras like reuse, recycle and refurbishment are more vital than ever.
Worth the tread on your boots, even if you don't have any needly old items. You can find some new ones to fall head over heel for, or just watch Eric work with enough love for all of it: handmade bags, shoes, belts, balms you name it.
C.
Total Professional and very friendly . Absolutely recommend for shoe craftsmanship and repairs and Keys cutting in the London bridge / Bermondsey Area 👌
J. R.
Friendly, helpful and professional. I was recommended to the Cobblers Nest by my regular conker. I required some major alterations to a pair of boots, the work included: reducing the upper part of the boot to fit the leg tighter, fitting a zip down the back of each boot to ease putting the boot on, changing the colour from tan to black.
I was more than happy with how the boots turned out. The modified boot could have been bestoke made.
Big thank you to Erick
J. K.
Quite simply Eric is a perfectionist - you know there is something different about this place when you walk in as the shop is well cared for and literally like a cobblers nest. I had a pair of Oliver Sweeneys and Loakes repaired here and the work was perfect and to drill down on this I mean the shoes were rebuilt and the result was symmetrical and if you cover leather soles the result is normally chunky and unappealing but Eric stated he used a unique bonding process which gives a slimmer result - needless to say I was very impressed as I've used other cobblers in London who could not do anything close to this.
I wholeheartedly recommend this place.
W.
This is a brilliant shop! I was looking for a decent cobbler around where I live in Bromley and then at London Bridge where I work. I phoned up in advance they fixed my heel whilst I waited and got to see how they work. Its a lovely genuine shop run by really nice guys that are true leather-craftsmen with a handshake goodbye when you leave. Lovely to find shops like this still exist.
L. R.
I got the zip repaired on my leather boots here. The service was efficient and personable. I would highly recommend.
A. G. U.
After a year of wear and tear, I had worn holes in both leather soles of a pair of Oliver Sweeneys and the heel edges were totally worn down
Having had some real cowboy work done on numerous occasions with the high street “shoe repair” shops, and also having been disappointed with the Oliver Sweeney factory repair on a previous pair (2 months to repair, worn for 6 months then good for the bin), I wanted a skilled cobbler to repair my shoes as the Boxcalf leather uppers were still in very good condition.
After much googling I read through the long list of reviews here, and made the trip from North London to Borough to the Cobblers Nest, and wasn’t disappointed.
Eric was very friendly and took the time to show me his fantastic workshop – think piles of leather hides and stacks of shoe lasts!
My shoes were done on time, a week later as promised, totally rebuilt with a new leather sole and heel, and looking brand new. As Eric explained he had used a much better quality thicker leather hide on the sole, and they are unbelievably comfortable to walk in – better than the original shoe! This is not the last time I will be taking my shoes to be repaired at the Cobblers Nest and I can highly recommend Erics workmanship and professionalism
C. Y.
This man is a genius!! Charges fairly and produces exceptional work. He has honestly repaired my shoes so that they are better than new. I keep going back and have been doing so for more than a year. Never been disappointed.
A. P.
A little gem of a cobblers! I had the heels of my boots replaced here and the lovely friendly chap got them sorted really quickly and at a good price too. I'd always prefer to support a small business over the giants of timpsons and the owner clearly has his heart in this place. Will recommend to all my friends!
M. K.
The work is very good and reasonably priced. One of the few cobblers who will stitch the uppers of a pair of shoes. Always best to call before you go and pick up to make sure the work has been completed.
L. H.
Knight to the rescue! I had the misfortune to loose the heel of my boots whilst at the Globe theatre, I goggled a Cobbler (thank god for iPhones!) and called ahead to see if they were open and able to fix my boots quickly - he promised to stay open as it was nearing 5pm when they close. The service was exceptional, quick, polite, great finish and a good price - thank you! Old fashioned service - with lively music and good conversation! I highly recommend. If only I lived in London this would be my cobbler of choice!
M. G.
I had keys cut here recently - the chap behind the counter is extremely friendly, and very nice. He cut me four keys - one didn't quite fit (a common problem), and he replaced it immediately, no quibbling at all, which I've had elsewhere. It's great to see a small business like this still running, and providing a quality service.
E. S.
Eric is my favourite cobbler. I didn't realise that it was difficult to find a good cobbler till 2 out of the 3 cobblers i went to in a month, screwed up my shoes. I can count on Eric to do the stick on soles and heels right, without it being misaligned or too close to the logos. Just remember to call him before you head to his shop, makes your life (and his) easier. I sent my Repetto and Chanel ballet flats to him and he did them right. Eric (and only Eric's) workmanship is reliable and the best!
S. R.
Absolutely perfect job. I brought in two beloved, worn out pairs of shoes, both very high Italian quality.
In less than a week he perfectly resoled and made my 8-years old Fratelli Rossetti brogues shiny and new. They were looking battered and opaque, now I can easily go on for another 8 with people stopping me in the street saying they love my shoes.
Also the other pair, leather from Marche, Italy, were perfectly resoled.
I would recommend Cobbler's Nest to everyone. Fine work.
r.
Very skilled cobbler! Rescued beloved old soft leather shoes and sandals to last a few more summers! Highly recommend!
D. L.
Caveat before I start: I haven't had any repair jobs done here so far. HOWEVER I am somebody who appreciates good old fashioned service and Eric is just the most charming bloke. I always end up leaving there with what I need (shoelaces, polish etc.) and having had a good chat with one of life's optimists.
I don't often post reviews of places that I have used but there should be more like Eric around to brighten everyone's days. Today for example he asked me how my day was going (this is someone I have spoken to about 3 times over the last 2 years) and i told him I thought I'd got a cold coming. Without blinking he advised me to administer myself some white rum, fresh lime and salt. He paused and then, with a glint in his eye he said "And if that doesn't work...have another one or two."
Legend.
L. M.
Eric settles for no less than excellence at his craftsmanship. This is a rare place where work is either perfectly done or turned down. A good reminder for all of us professionals
F.
The cutest old fashioned cobbler shop with the sweetest and friendliest owner. Cut a couple copies of keys for me in minutes for 5£ each. Great service :)
R. N.
Fantastic skilled repairs, far better than I though would be possible with the shoes I was asking to be mended, which are better than new note, and for a very reasonable price. I'll be sending all my shoes here in future, and recommending to all my friends! Thank you!!
A. A. M.
Very professional the man of the store, old style tailored service, i would reccomend him! I drive across london just to bring him my items to be fixed
P. R.
Great service provided by Cobbler's Nest. Really nice guy and did a great job re-heeling my Chelsea boots, and they were ready less than a day after I dropped them in. Would recommend to anyone.

Cracking job by a true gent. It is rare to find such a passionate artisan thriving in today's London. Eric loves his job and it shows in his work. Timpsons are dead to me.

There are not many independent shops like this left in London. The service is personal, the choices are bespoke and the attitude is refreshingly friendly. Nice work Eric!
