If you are ever in London treat yourself to a pair of the most incredible well made shoes in the friendliest and most accommodating environment I have ever experienced. I bought a great pair of shoes and when I got back to the states they didn't fit quite right. Foster and Sons has now sent me two pairs to make sure the fit is perfect without any qualms. Great shoes-great service!!

My bespoke shoes were frustratingly late on delivery, but they have been fantastic. The breaking-in period was only a day or two, and the shoes immediately felt soft and comfortable. After several months the callouses on my feet have all gone because the fit is so good, and I have no soreness from long walks. The excellent shoes have changed my attitude towards walking, and now I can't seem to walk enough.
Also, the shoes wear much better than other shoes, in part because of the quality of the leather. With time they end up developing some creases in the leather as expected, but without cracking. Another feature that contributes to the longevity is the metal tip that Foster & Son has placed on the sole by the toe, which helps avoid damaging the tip of the sole. Even the shoe polish that has been provided with the shoes is much better than ordinary polish, and the shoes acquire a very nice shine quite easily.
The Foster & Sons bespoke shoes have another nice feature-- the sole of a normal shoe has a rather wide ridge that receives the stitching, which juts out horizontally beyond the uppers in order to facilitate restitching by machines. In contrast, on my bespoke shoes the ridge is so narrow that the uppers largely conceal it, because the replacement of the sole will involve hand-stitching in any event, so access to the machine is not necessary. Many people have noticed that the largely concealed thin ridge gives the shoe a very elegant appearance.

I have bought 3 pair of Foster shoes over the past 30 years. I wear them twice a month and treat them well. They will last another 30 years, alas I am almost 80. They are always admired by my peers, all 3 pairs have been allocated in my will to discerning friends, who do not wish me a long life ! Used in conjunction with 3 pair of Trickers, I have been well served.

Not sure what’s happened to this once fantastic store? The shoes are now not affordable for me sadly so I need to look elsewhere

One of the best customer service I have received in the shoe shops on Jermyn Street and the shoes are top notch. Kudos to Scott for doing a great job.
