Went to the store yesterday to do a return. Lovely bright shop with Excellent service. Thank you to John for dealing with my request promptly and efficiently and friendly.

The shop was lovely and quiet, so I got helped and served straight away. There was no pressure on me to hurry up, answer questions or buy, I could just take my time. I am a repeat customer - I know that the shoes I bought today will be comfortable and last a long time. I can recommend this shop, ideally situated near the bus station too.

I booked an appointment to get school shoes fitted, though they are also using the walk-in and grab a ticket system so it was a lot busier than last time we were there. Staff were friendly and helpful, no complaints there. I just advise going for opening time if you can.

Went to get my 1 year old girls feet measured. Lovely experience and can’t fault that. However, when it came to paying, the lady went straight to the leather balm cabinet and grabbed a bottle for me. The way she was talking was like it was a free gift but then when it came to the checkout, she added it to the cost without even asking me if I wanted it? I just that was really shocking and a sneaky way to get more money out of me. The fact she didn’t even ask me if I wanted to purchase this wasn’t good customer service experience. Not the way to go about this when you’re trying to get more money out of customers. You are meant to ask them if they would be interested before assuming and adding it to the cost!

Good shoe shop with fair prices. It's not a big one but an okay selection for both women and men. The shoes I bought there was really comfy and I've used them a lot. I still use them now and then because it's good quality and they last for years.

Peter measured my 1 year olds feet and he was brilliant with her, patient and relaxed and kept her attention (not always easy). The children's section was very busy but he made us feel important and brought out a great selection of shoes. His expertise and advice about how her shoes should fit was great and he was able to order a pair of shoes from the website as they didn't have the size in store. Nothing was too much trouble and it made a tedious task feel like a special treat - not easy when dealing with a headstrong toddler! I'm actually looking forward to going back. And we got a little record card - nothing very special but as a mum it really made my experience that little bit more enjoyable.

Fantastic service and the only place I was able to find a reasonably priced comfortable shoe that would be suitable for wearing in a ward setting (wipe clean as a high priority). The staff were friendly and helpful and were able to understand my requirements and find me something that will hopefully work for a long time.

Wait was not too bad which was good seeing as how it was a bit of a cramped space for the kids shoe fitting area. The girl who served us could not have been more helpful and was very pleasant. Was not at all impressed with their children's trainers selection this season. Yuk is what my girls said to most of them and in the end they only had one pair in stock in both their sizes and it was the same pair. Very disappointing. We ended up having to choose some from the adults section which resulted in things costing a whole lot more than it should have. Dread to think what their stock selection will be like nearer the end of the summer holidays.

Great, quick service in this store with a decent range of shoes. Please note that not all shoes are out on display but are in stock and can be brought out to view/try. For any shoes in the Clark's range not in stock, they can be quickly ordered in. Shoes can be returned to another high street store e.g. Whitley Bay but not to an outlet shop e.g. Royal Quays.

Continuing my shopping expedition in Eldon Square (which I usually avoid as it's too busy and the usual high street identikit stores) I went into Clark's and was 'captured' by a male assistant who enthusiastically 'sold' me a pair of boots. He knew what he was selling, highlighted the current deals and even got an old skinflint like me to put his hand in his pocket with his cheerful empathetic manner. I bet he beats the younger assistants in the sales stakes!

Clarks along with Charles Clinkard are the two main quality mens footwear stores in Eldon Square, they've been there for decades trading! What I like about Clarks is that they are quality British, and it shows in the overall craftmanship and reflected accordingly in the price. Leagues better than the cheap clothing retailers, and better than the large department store own brand offerings.
