I've traveled to over 20+ countries and this was by far the best shopping experience I've had at a shoe store. I bought the Adders suede shoes and they were supremely comfortable and handsome. But it was the customer service experience that really set this store apart; Will truly went above and beyond with his service (even giving a complimentary polishing service). Needless to say, you have got yourself a new loyal customer!

Customer service at its very best right here in the heart of Oxford. A gentleman named Will was super friendly and helpful and advised me that my beloved shoes were not passed their best (as i had feared) and offered to try to bring them back from a certain demise. I returned a few days later with my sad looking shoes and met with another really nice guy called Marcus who took them in for me. Well i collected them today and what a transformation, Will has restored them to a nearly new condition. Brilliant work guys I'll be back for more shoes soon.

Purchased a lovely pair of shoes there in January 2022. Delighted with the very knowledgeable, professional and non-pushy service. In particular, a charming, interesting and passionate chap there called Will not only convinced me that the shoes were a great purchase - wife delighted as (therefore) am I - but also restored two 'tired' pairs of 'old' Loake shoes with amazing skill and dexterity. One pair is arguably better than when new. His friendly and conscientious manner has earned Loake a customer for life. A very happy and likely returning customer. Highly recommended.

Amazing experience in an amazing store. Went in for a quick bit of advice and was met with the most helpful team. After suffering a stain to my Loakes I was given a variety of options to attempt to restore to original look and feel. Will was super knowledgeable, very genuine and a credit to the brand. Literally the best shoe buying experience of life. Extremely knowledgeable and professional bloke in Loakes today made spending £300 an excellent experience. Measured my feet and recommended a slightly different size from my normal Size 9. Discussed width and lacing, told me the price of every additional item I bought as we went along. If you want great boots fitted by a real professional try Loakes in Oxford. Better service than Church's!

He is absolutely fantastic and an asset to the store. There are shoe stores, Loake’s stores, and then there is Loake’s in Oxford. The customer service here is in a league of its own. I came in browsing for a pair of black leather chelsea boots but walked out with a brand new pair of dark suede ones. I hadn’t even entertained the idea of buying suede shoes as I never understood how to maintain suede. Thanks to Will, who took the time to give me a live demonstration with his own suede boots, I walked away with the confidence to properly care for my new purchase. Come in, ask for Will, and tell him what you’re looking for. You won’t be disappointed.

5 Star as always. I popped in to Loake Oxford Westgate to see whether they still offered their polishing services. They do, and it’s a superb service. I had 2x pairs of black Loakes - 1x brogue and 1x Oxford. I was greeted by Bob, who was more than happy to offer the service FoC. He contacted me once they were done and Marcus was there when I collected. The service these chaps offer is exemplary. I bought my second Loake belt on collection as well. Couldn’t be happier. Superb quality gear.

My husband was served by Marcus who was fantastic! He measured my husbands feet and knew exactly what to bring out for him. The service he provided was absolutely outstanding. My husband says he will never buy shoes from anywhere else! So refreshing to receive this level of service where so many others shops fail! Highly recommended!

I have visited them many times and got multiple pair of shoes. I am a frequent shopper of gentlemen clothing, and most of the up-scale shops are often very bad at service (despite the price you pay for). The people at Loake are, however, amazingly friendly and helpful. Every time I visit their store they offer drinks, take my measurements (in case the sizes might have changed due to temporal/seasonal reasons) and give fantastic advise on how to keep your shoes clean and durable. I must give special kudos to Bob, who is the manager of Oxford branch -- he has been an excellent friend and hero who helped me on many things regarding my shoe purchases and post-purchase adjustments/maintenance. I will soon visit them again to acquire a new pair of slip-ons and can't wait to return to their shop!

I visited Loake Oxford (Westgate) yesterday and was helped by Marcus. I wanted to exchange, for a smaller size, a pair of shoes I bought during lockdown. Marcus could not have have done anything more for me in agreeing the change and organising the return and arranging the posting of the shoes from another store. He was polite, efficient, helpful and very professional and represented Loake to the highest standard...He is an asset to the Company. Their shoes are of superb quality and their customer service is second to none...a proper Company who deserves all the business they can get...you will not be disapointed...I would leave 6 stars if I could. Thanks Marcus... UPDATE...replacement shoes arrived yesterday..fast and efficient service....Blue Mohave Suede shoes are now a perfect fit...thank you 10/10

My favourite pair of Loake brogues needed a spruce up as they got discoloured through heavy use. Marcus and the team did a fabulous job cleaning the shoes and putting the colour back in, giving the shoes second life. A very happy customer! Will no doubt be back - would highly recommend both the product and the excellent service in the Oxford shop which is consistently meeting and exceeding high expectations.

Bought my first pair of Loake Reading boots last year. The service from the guys down there is excellent. As it's the most I've ever spent on a pair of shoes I wanted to learn how to take care of them. So I signed up for there 1st "Shoe polishing tutorial'. Bob and the guys were great at showing you how to look after your investment. I'll definitely be signing up for the next one, even if it's for the free coffee and pastries. ;-) Thanks again guys.

I visited this Loake shop and was greeted by Marcus. I asked to try a pair of shoes on in my usual size and he politely said that it would be best to measure my feet first. I haven’t had that done since having Clarke’s as a kid, but it immediately made me feel like I was in a shop that was away from the ordinary high street chains and department stores. Marcus was very friendly and a credit to the company. A bit childish, I know, but I did feel special being in the shop and being treated in such a professional way. The new Loakes looked and felt perfect. The shoes will last for a very long time and the detailed English quality is evident when you look at every aspect of them. Marcus used his experience to explain how I could care for the shoes to keep them looking good for years to come. I walked away feeling very happy and a big smile...........(under my Covid mask!🙂)

I have no idea where to start. I have been a customer of this shop since it opened and never in all of my days of shopping have I ever been made feel So comfortable, relaxed and welcomed. The guys who work here are attentive but not over bearing. They are precise but flexible to your requirements. Whenever I shop here ( and I have several times) I always enjoy the easy nature and ready friendship offered. The experience has not changed from my first purchase to my latest such is the quality of the guys at the front line. I was made feel welcome on my first visit and the same on my latest and not because I have purchased several times but because the staff go the extra mile. Having said all of the above, I may be confusing my experience with the fact there’s always a comfy seat and a cold beer on offer.... Five stars. I will not buy shoes anywhere else and to be honest, it’s the only shop that makes shopping bearable. Well done The Brogue Trader. Hats off.

January 2nd 2020 My wife and I Decided to visit your Westgate Oxford shop today with a view to purchasing a new pair of Loake shoes. I still own and wear the last pair that I purchased 28 years ago, which still look as good as new and even today fit so well. After spending quite a time in your shop being assisted by Marcus, we left with 2 pairs of shoes and a stunning Loake belt. Marcus served us throughout and his knowledge in his products were second to none. We were given coffee and as much time as we needed, nothing was to much trouble. It was service from a bygone age. It is so refreshing to find such a retail gem, and to walk out with English produced footwear. It will not be another 28 years until my next visit, and I feel a visit to the factory if ever there is an open day. Keep up the good work. Mark J Smith

The best shoe shop in Oxford bar none. The shop sells an extensive range of Loake's shoes, leather goods and accessories, backed by fantastically knowledgeable and helpful staff. The service is second-to-none. You can enjoy a cup of tea or coffee (or something a little stronger) whilst you undertake a fitting. I was recently looking for a new pair of shoes for a wedding. The staff took their time and were able to help me find a style and colour to match my suit. I cannot recommend the store or the staff highly enough.

Went here to find shoes for my party of groomsmen. Immediately was offered a drink (beer, water etc.) and proceeded into discussion about the ideas for our outfit. Over the subsequent weeks, must have spent about 7 hours in store, trying on different combinations of shoes with ties, suits and waistcoats purchased from other stores (one of the guys even nipped to another local store for us to borrow a few additional ties! We hadn't even asked!). When it came to the final purchase they posted each pair of shoes, individually to my groomsmen and gave us a fair few added extras. I couldn't have hoped for better service. The variety and quality of the shoes on offer is stunning and the experience that we had with them has gained them a lifelong customer.

The Brogue Trader in Oxford as headed up by Bob Douglas, is quite simply second to none. Let alone being the best place to purchase and be advised as to the care of shoes in Oxford, it would give many an establishment in St James's a run for their money. The incredibly welcoming and knowledgeable staff go well above and beyond what would normally be regarded as excellent customer service. It is a tremendous boon to have them in Oxford and I cannot recommend them highly enough.
