Reviews of The Eagle Bookshop

Really friendly and knowledgeable service from owner and staff. Books are well arranged with plenty of space to browse and areas to sit down. Excellent stock and very competitively priced. My favourite 2nd hand bookshop.

An amazing selection of secondhand books, with many priced at only a few pounds. The layout of the shop means you are constantly discovering new treasures (plus they have lots of comfortable seats so you can take your time looking through your finds).

Lovely cool, calm location with very helpful and informative staff member.
The many books are well worth a look and very reasonably priced.
In need of a Pianola restorer if anyone knows of one...

Fabulous book shop, I was particularly impressed that the member of staff I had previously spoken to on the phone went out of his way to find a couple of books for me which I picked up soon after. Highly recommended.

Bedford's largest bookshop, mostly secondhand books with a Local Authors section of new volumes. Prices from 50p. Open seven days. Helpful staff. Separate rooms for different subjects, with large bargain area, £1-2.

An amazing find for bookworms all over the shire. I'm a very big fan of 1980s horror literature and was able to pick up a Graham Masterton double bill for only a few quid in their bargain section outside. All staff appeared chipper and eager to help all patrons, even advising where sections have moved to in the store. They even have an extensive "Bedford" section, where you can pick up all manner of local literature - some of it even in it's 1st and 2nd editions.
A plea to staff: please let me know if any more books from Graham Masterton, Shaun Hutson, James Herbert, Richard Laymon, Bentley Little, Brian Keene or Jack Ketchum land in The Eagle Bookstore, and I guarantee I'll be right over within the hour!

Went to a wonderful book launch for a book called Coalbrookdale by Marilyn Freeman. Great reading, with local accents too, interesting historical family content. The owners of the book shop were very helpful. A fantastic range of books.

This place is a gem. Am glued to the books I bought ♥️ highly recommend to visit, second hand books, paid £7 for 5 books. Enormous space inside, could spend a whole day inside 👌

A bookshop with an art gallery together. If you are looking for rare books this is your place. Helpful staff.

Amazing if you love old books.
Well organised selves and there's also some old science equipment on show.
