Reviews of Main Library, University Of Birmingham

This is the main Library of University of Birmingham. It’s very big and has enough space to accommodate students in peak hours. The book collection is marvellous , and I could almost find all technical books I needed. Food and drinks are available at the ground floor. It could have been better if there was a coffee outlet that worked 24x7 since the library is in use throughout the night as well.

Its pretty nice, just wish it were a little warmer sometimes, I'm often wearing my coat indoors. Cafe is really nice though!

The Main Library of the University of Birmingham was quite exquisite. A three storey building with several desktops and printers on each floor, the library of the University aids both physical and electronic learning, helping students with various learning preferences.

This new library is a nice addition to the university. It was sad to see the old library go but this new library is a significant upgrade. There are plenty of computers, study spaces and group study rooms. The design is aesthetically pleasing both from the exterior and interior. Also, the cafe is a nice place to relax and take a break.

The new library is truly astounding, with a great low-priced cafe, and comfortable study areas throughout the levels, including several on the ground floor. University swipe card needed for entry. Loaning and returning books is all done electronically. I would like to see all study tables however have dividers for privacy. These tables are already in 'quiet zones' and I believe they will help independent study. Other than this, it's very good, open and spacious, and the lifts are a good addition.

From a law student: love 24h library during term and exams, but the place is so busy at peak hours it's often not worth even checking for a desk. But! At least they're aware and making an effort: they started tracking and posting occupancy on the uni website, and leaving tickets on disused materials in a study spot so you to clear them away and sit if the owner has been gone for over an hour.

Update-- honestly, its winter, you guys can turn off the AC anyday now... Beautiful library so far.. Can't enjoy it fully because of the covid restrictions but, it's a great study space

Nice layout - feels spacious. There's a dedicated room for postgrads, great cafe and friendly staff. There's also a good amount of computers and work space.

Very busy at most times, but also very large, so finding a quiet place to study shouldn't be a problem. Plenty of quiet study areas and a cafe to keep you going.
