The library has a large collection of books, including ones in urdu, hindi and gujarati as well! The children's section is fun too. It is in dire need of some repairs, however, the ambience is not as good as I'd hoped. The architecture seems to be crumbling. But that doesn't take away from the library experience, which was lovely. Staff is friendly and helpful, and there are two machines to borrow books which makes the process smooth. Will be visiting again and again.

been going here since i was a child and i actually like the retro-esque look. my only complaints would be with the city council rather than the library itself: longer book loaning times and longer/ better opening times (especially on days off from work or holidays when i can actually take my kids!☹️🙁) and, as someone else has said, more kids creative etc. classes would encourage us to come a lot more often. also, i've noticed that this library doesn't get new books as often as acocks green etc., as i find myself looking at the exact same variety i do every time i come, which again i understand is probably not the librarians faults. the introduction of the new scanning machines has greatly improved our experiences as it makes checkout times a lot faster, but sometimes there can be a queue for these as there are only 2. hopefully post-covid we can visit the library again :-)

Rude staff, always watching and judging you. Choose not to come to this library anymore.

As much as I love this library and i cherish my 17 years of memories at this building i must say that the government and the council do not care for the people in sparkhill. There is no development, the park looks dead and full of junkies and this amazing building looks old and outdated, there used to be all kinds of activities at this library when I was growing up but as I go to this library with my kids now it feels like that this building is open just for the sake of it being open. Please fund this amazing historical building and preserve it for the next generation.

Sincerely hope that helps the team... they need change the kids area wall it's with Winter season and we already enter in Spring. Maybe have some workshops for toddlers and kids will be fun. Also will be so nice if the space looks more clean, fresh and organised.

I’ve read some reviews and didn’t feel like going to the library but when I went today I’ve got to say that the staff were amazing and so friendly , well dressed and well spoken I did tell them what I’ve read about the premises they were also shocked about the fact how people chat so much breeze. 5 stars just for the staff.

On a walking distance from my place .Quite good range of books. But i didn't see much change in kids section .Nearly same books every time .And we normally visit after 2-3 months.

Nice local library, friendly staff and good selection of books. Would be nice if they can arrange childrens evening events to keep the local children and adults involved.
