Sal and his mum gave us a great service. Honest, experienced advice, with a lovely helpful, friendly manner. Great selection of upholstery fabrics (we were spoilt for choice) at a decent price. My first visit to Butterfly Fabrics today and I’m so delighted I felt I had to share my experience. Although they sell fabrics for everything from dress to home furnishing or even bridal fabrics our visit was for new pairs of curtains for two of our rooms. The range and quality of fabrics were great, the prices even better - compared to what I had seen and researched beforehand. The gentleman serving us was so helpful and patient. We picked two gorgeous fabrics which Butterfly are going to make up for us. Can’t wait to see them finished and hung up in our house. Thanks again and see you soon!

Butterfly fabrics restored my 2nd hand 1960s sofa. It was very worn and needed a complete overhaul! They were recommended by my mother as they'd done an amazing job on her vintage Ercol sofa. I'd also got a number of quotes and they were the best. My experience was equally as brilliant! I appreciated the help choosing suitable fabric. Their customer service really impressed - even remembering I'd talked about my DIY and asking how it was going! Sal emailed regular updates throughout the process. My wife and I regularly visit Butterfly Fabrics as they have a wonderful selection of material and accessories. The reason you should pay attention to this review though is that we live 70 miles away, which should tell you how highly we regard them, in addition you couldn't find more courteous and helpful owners, nothing is too much trouble.

I took delivery of my Janome Coverstitch Machine last week and can’t praise the staff at Butterfly Fabrics enough!! I pre- ordered at a fantastic price and got it delivered straight to my door. I set it up and it was ready to go straight away. After a few YouTube tutorials, I feel like a professional already. Without the help and encouragement of Butterfly Fabrics , I might not got this machine, but I’m so happy I did. If anyone is feeling a little hesitant , go to the guys at Butterfly’s and have a chat. Oh.. and their range of fabrics will make your head spin.!!

In this tricky times of not being able to go and feel and pick fabric i was able to get something i am very happy with. i sent the pattern required and in return got pictures of suitable fabrics. the selection was lovely and it was really hard to pick. I have my eye on others when I have finished my current projects. everything I needed was posted out, threads and trimmings as well as the main fabric. I have just received this morning my parcel of wedding fabrics from 'Butterfly Fabrics'. This proved a challenge during a pandemic and lockdown, but after many conversations with the helpful owner, samples being sent to Hertfordshire, more phone calls to suppliers, Sal eventually managed to select and purchase the desired fabric for me to make my daughter's wedding dress. She is at uni in Cardiff and last summer we started our journey at Sal's shop. The wedding is this July, and as I am a teacher, the Easter holidays is a 2 week window where I can move this project on. And so now the sewing can begin! Thank you for your support and assistance to make this happen.

So happy these guys are open after lockdown to renew my fabric stash! Wonderdul choice of fabrics in every kind and shade, a wall of ribbons and accessories to choose from. The guys here are friendly and knowledgeable, always happy to offer advice if you're a bit unsure on fabric uses:)

Great service, excellent selection especially in the upholstery section in the back of the shop. First time you visit you may have to ask as it is behind the counter. I wanted a material which I'd previously seen in the shop but was cheaper online. I spoke with Sal and he agreed to price beat the online shop. My advice is if you want it ask them, they are always happy to help 👏.

I have recently started sewing and visited Butterfly fabrics today for the first time. On arrival we were greeted very warmly. The gentleman who served us couldn't have been more helpful. They have a very wide range of fabrics at affordable prices. and also well priced sewing machines. I even took along some old sewing machine needles for their advice, which they willingly looked at. I have been dealing with Sal of Buttery for a couple of months now. I came across it on Facebook. Decided to take up dressmaking after 38 yrs. Sal helped me buy a machine and though photos on messenger he was able to let me some his fabulous rangfebeautiful quality fabrics chose a baby pattern and 2 gorgeous pieces of material.. He also helped to to choose fabric for kimono top . His service was first class and his knowledge is immense. Nothing was too much trouble. He spent a lot of time helping me .I Al's bought all my accessories. I would not hesitate that you visit the shop I'm in Aberdeen but that is not a problem. Sal lifted down.lots if materials a n matching colours for tops.. I have received e erything now . Great quick service and first class throughout . Thanks for a great shopping e experience. I went in here yesterday to get an idea of what fabric I want to use to recover a chair and stool, the young lady in there that helped me was spot on for her customer service, even showing me some examples of the work that had been done to some chairs from fabric on sale in their shop which to be fair, didn't have much wow factor for me on the roll but when you see it on a piece of furniture done well, it's something else. I found the staff pleasant to talk to and knowledgeable and after seeing their handy work on their chairs, I'm happy for someone else to do a professional job on the chair rather than attempting it myself (never done one before) and I will stick to covering the stool. I did go to other shops to look what fabric was on offer and found this shop was better priced for exactly the same fabric. Pain to park there as it's such a busy street in Cardiff but I will definitely be using them.

The best fabric shop in Cardiff if not South Wales. Amazing quality fabrics for the price, and they price beat everyone, from Cardiff indoor market, to Bridgend, to Bristol. Exceptional customer service! Even though it's a smaller shop than the other shop next door (calico), Butterfly Fabrics have a lot more variety and better quality fabrics for not only furnishing but for dressmaking and craft aswell, the shop even has a section of top quality haberdashery. The service they provide is so welcoming and helpful that I wish all the staff there also worked on the University of South Wales Fashion Design course because it's approachable and knowlageable people like them that give young creatives confidence to go forward.

Fantastic fabric, wonderful choice and very very very poor service. The shop owner is rude and aggressive, his wife surly and only his son seems to have any sense of what is required. If the choice of fabric was not so good I would NEVER go in again. They do not deserve any customers.

I love this place. By far the best quality and choice of fabric for miles around. You have to compare like for like and the fabric quality is second to none. If you compare it to John Lewis / House of Fraser, that would be the nearest competitor and both of those shops are far more expensive and have nothing like the range. As for the customer service, again I think that Mojhi, Shaheen and Sal (gentleman, wife and son in that order and spelt phonetically) are lovely, you just have to get to know them. I have been using this shop for over 20 years and long may they continue.

Butterfly fabrics is my wife's favourite dressmaking fabric shop and we regularly make a 200 mile round trip to buy quality material. They recently lost 80% of thier stock in the larger shop due to a fire in a neighbouring take-away. As a result they have condensed thier current stock into the smaller store and are buying in new stock all the time. The store owners, Sal and Shahin, are some of the nicest people I've met in a long time and they are good business people. I can't recommend this business highly enough.
