A good FLGS. We popped in on a Sunday morning for a game and there were plenty of spare tables despite there being a regular event on. Lots of terrain suitable for various systems, friendly staff with a selection of drinks and doughnuts on offer. Will definitely be coming back in future.

Went for an X Wing tournament. Great space, well-run event. Coffee and lunch thrown in was a good perk. Players there were welcoming and friendly, which was a relief as I turned up on my own.

It’s my go to games shop. Wide range of events for all tabletop games and trading card games. Absolutely amazing staff and customer service and a great atmosphere and guaranteed good time is to be have on every visit.

Absolutely fantastic! Cannot recommend highly enough! I literally don't have a bad thing to say. I have met both of the guys that run the shop and literally everything and everyone is amazing. I have been in twice now, once to snoop and once for a whole night of games. The table are awesome, some really unique and beautiful tables, huge variety and tables available for all game types. The shopfront although small is very extensive and the guys are happy to order for you. Amazing, I have a new local and I couldn't be happier! Thanks guys!

Awesome place. A really large area to play, with some lovely tables, and a very wide range of games stocked and played there. As someone new to Derby and totally unfamiliar with the area, the atmosphere and sense of community is really nice. You always feel extremely welcome. I really can't recommend it highly enough.

Great new local friendly gaming shop, with a good range of products. The shop has a selection of gaming areas which you can play miniature, card or board games on without any hassle. The staff are interested in helping and knowledgeable about the games they sell and ready to offer useful advice and often will be able to offer demo games. Overall a nice new addition to the Derby area and I wish them all the luck to succeed in the future.

I have only visited a couple of times on a Tuesday evening for Dungeons & Dragons, but they make you feel welcome the minute you step in the door. The shop is clean and spacious, and full of some very impressive models. The D&D is ran by Tom, who is a fantastic DM and always willing to help whenever he can. This was my very first experience of the game and I've loved it since. I can't recommend this place high enough for those even remotely interested in these types of games.

Little bit of everything but no comprehensive stock of the things I was hoping for. Odd boxes of Games Workshop stuff for each faction but no real range. Poor stock of Vallejo paints which was reason for visit. For other brands of minis it's better stocked than most. Seemed like a good place to game, if your prepared to wait for it I'm sure they will order you just about anything.

It's obvious this is a new venture, yet it already has that welcoming vibe that a good gaming venue often takes years to acquire. The location may be off the beaten path for a gaming venue, being based on a light commercial estate, but it has enabled them to aquire a much larger venue then most similar stores. The staff are friendly and seem to genuinely enjoy interacting with customers, and the prices for table renting for the larger wargames is very reasonable. Refreshments are on offer and also a fair price. The store selection is limited but relevant with a good choice of extras for popular games and any expansion on it will just be an improvement to an already solid core. There is a large selection of tables, either plain ones for board/card games and a suprisingly diverse amount of large terrain tables with a variety of themes. I am very excited to see how the store grows and business progresses, but I am already confident that Board's and Swords will have no trouble charming a loyal and hopefully large customer base. Look forward to my next visit!

A friendly, welcoming new hobby store that has exploded onto the Derby Gaming scene. With different themed nights it’s good to know I can rock up on a Tuesday to play Bolt Action or Malifaux on a Wednesday. A growing XWing crowd on a Thursday keeps my daughter amused too. If I want to try a new game the owners are more than happy to set things up and walk me through it. It’s also handy that each owner has his own ‘thing’- hit up Ian for all thing tabletop and historical and if TCGs are your thing then Rob’s your guy. They’re also starting to run tournaments for all the ‘big name’ games, often with decent prize support from both manufacturer and by way of store credit; haven’t won a tourney yet, but I’m still going to keep trying :) On a personal level, I have social anxiety issues, have done for years- full blown panic attacks in Asda and the local shopping centre. This place, my FLGS, makes me feel... safe; has done from opening night. Put it this way, I would rather play here than Warhammer World.

Boards & Swords is a great little warehouse full of all the stuff a serious wargamer might want. The tables are huge and there's a liberal selection of terrain, from war-torn WW2 villages to intergalactic battlefields and everything in-between. Snacks are available if you get peckish and the staff are really friendly and welcoming. If you need to get your wargaming fix but don't fancy going all the way to Nottingham, you can do a lot worse than Boards & Swords.
