A super useful cavernous shop, selling pretty much everything you might need for a house and day to day life. Prices are reasonable (as opposed to "bargain"). It also has a fancy dress and party shop attached to it.

She went beyond the expected and has been really helpful in picking something for me, despite having loads to do (she kept telling me there's a lot that the shop is handling and it has been difficult to run both the costume section and the main section). It's a fascinating store with everything for the household. It is difficult to find stuff and it seems to be stocked in quite a random fashion. Best for kitchen ware and storage items. Not great quality for electrical goods.

The staff here are always kind and helpful. I was going to order some tops for plastic storage containers I bought here (forgot to grab the lids the first time around, and lost the receipt) but after stopping in store to buy the right lids they gave them to me at no cost. Just warm, lovely people. This place beats Amazon any day!

This place is amazing for students, or anyone really! They have everything you could possibly need - cutlery, crockery, tools, cleaning supplies, stationary, paint, containers, electrical goods.. and so on. The prices are not exactly bargain, but they're usually okay, and the conveniance factor really wins out here. The only other option for buying all this stuff would be a trip to a big supermarket, or ikea, all a ~30 minute bus ride away. So generally great for emergencies!

Shop here every now and again for odds and ends: light bulbs, kitchenware, bike pumps... You name it. The range of items is huge, the prices are reasonable and the staff are friendly and very helpful. Would recommend to anyone!

Appropriately festive and selling good Christmas products for wrapping and gifting. Store has all the oddities that you may need, as well as many that you would never need but are fun/interesting enough to buy. However certain things if bought, the buyer should be aware due to what type of store it is, some products are cheap as they are made cheaply and will not always work for long.

Bargain items at bargain prices. Staff was reasonably friendly. Perfect for some things, others you are better off spending a bit more for better quality. Has a good selection of all kinds of general housewares. Some of the other shops nearby have cheaper prices, but also limited selection. Not a bad stop, but make sure you take the time to do your homework if you're shopping here to save a few pounds. If you're not trying to save, go spend it on better quality elsewhere.

Love going in there! The store has literally everything you could think of! Great selection of household goods. I love going in for a wander even when I don’t need anything! Always my go-to shop. The store has been serving my family for years. It might not always be as cheap as the pound shop but that’s because they stock high quality products and brands which last you a long time.

Really grateful for their drinks selection. I pop in for Root Beer all the time. Staff makes jokes about it sometimes, which is understandable when I walk out with like 4 cans every other day. Also weird detail to note but the fridge is really nice?? the drinks are always cold. Also they have, like, everything there. Recently needed a cocktail shaker and a jigger and me and my girlfriend didn't even hesitate to assume they had it at the Bargain Store (and they did!) I live like 5 minutes away from here and I'm glad!

I live very near to this shop and it is fantastic. I moved into an unfurnished flat, and didn't have any tools for DIY, cooking equipment, kitchen utensils, or anything like that. EBS had pretty much everything I needed, and at very reasonable prices. It's still my go-to shop for small tools, stationary, cleaning supplies, storage boxes, light bulbs, kitchen equipment and other stuff like that. I can highly recommend this shop to anyone living in Edinburgh, particularly if you are in the central area.

Seems to have everything and anything you could need for home + student life! Prices are decent and a huge selection of kitchen, bathroom, cleaning, office, greeting cards, and storage products. Staff are nice and they take card for any size transaction.

Good place for most things you would need as a student: adapters, washing bowls, electronics, kitchen stuff, bathroom accessories, mirrors, sponges, blow dryers, etc. The prices are good and relatively cheap. I would say however that it lacks staff to help you around and the staff at the cashier isn’t very polite. I had a lady nag for university students coming to the store, which is pretty ironic, considering students are their main form of income. Even when said in a joking manner, it can be pretty unprofessional, especially when said to someone who obviously is a university student themselves...

Generally a great place to find items that you'd need around the house. Find everything from Tupperware, towels and lunch boxes to tools, stationary or fidget spinners. Staff are friendly and helpful when you're looking for items that might be hidden away.

It's a helpful store really close to the university and had really great prices on items from time to time. You can find almost anything you're looking for from here. Only drawback is that things are sometimes difficult to find as there is no system of isles or signs to show you what your can find where.
