Reviews of Topping & Company Booksellers of Edinburgh

I loved coming here. The selection is super varied. It was even better as my partner doesn’t like to read and could enjoy a coffee as I browsed the shelves.
They are super friendly and helpful. I visited multiple book locations in Edinburgh. This was by far the best.

Perfect place to spend a rainy Sunday afternoon. Surrounded by a large selection of books, lulled by easy listening music, and helped by discrete book people. Conveniently located in Blenheim Square, this bookstore was established in Edinburgh only in 2019, but feels perfectly integrated in the city.

Occupying the ground and first floor of a listed building in Edinburgh, a good variety of books is available in this great book store full of handcrafted bookshelves and rolling library ladders. Complimentary tea or coffee could be offered for readers, with seating area adjacent to windows which is a thoughtful utilization of space in the historic building.

This bookshop has such a wide collection to choose from! I specifically enjoy their popular science collection as it is by far the largest I have seen in a non-chain bookshop.
Everything is clearly organised in the sections, although you might get lost in between the shelves if you are visiting for the first time as it is almost like a maze of books, which only adds to its charm! If you manage to visit on a sunny day, the sunshine lights coming through the large windows will make this place even more magical! :) There are chairs here and there for you to relax. The staff are very helpful and attentive, too.

An overwhelmingly huge bookshop. Could easily spend a few hours exploring. Wasnt the easiest to actually find the part of the shop you wanted but if you go in with a sense of curiosity and exploration, you'll be delighted.

What a beautiful bookstore. Not just a bookstore, nothing short of a book lovers paradise. Set up over two floors, they have a jaw dropping collection of books that covers almost all genres, topics and subjects.
Very welcoming atmosphere, with plenty of places to sit and read as well. They also have a regular array of events. An absolute must visit for any body in search of a literary refuge.

Beautiful bookstore in a beautiful building.
A wide selection of books and categories.
Found some signed first editions here, well worth it.

Amazing selection of books, pretty much every subject and genre is covered. I'd like to see more graphic novels, but other than that it has everything you could wish for. Although you do have to crawl over hipsters to reach them. If you are feeling rich they have loads of signed copies and some amazing editions. Love that it is open until 9pm.

I will always make visiting Toppings a priority when I come to Edinburgh as any bookworm must. Visiting is a visual experience in itself with all the different rooms, genres and of course the ladders that are so functional and helpful. I love that they have such a huge selection of signed first editions, the problem is deciding what to buy.
