Visited this library for the first time today and it was fab. Great things in place for covid protection such as track and trace, book quarantine and lots of sanitiser around. I needed to register myself and my daughter and the lady who did it for us was great and really helpful. Can't wait for out next visit.

I love the library, l use to use it all the while, but then l became housebound, just phoned and asked if my son could pick some books for me, .They said yes, how good is that for service. ItsI a good place for peace and quite while you work on computers as well. If you need help they are there for you. Brilliant!

The staff and facilities are superb but myself and 2 other users bemoan the depressing atmosphere as a result of there being so much empty space and not enough books. The librarians should have classical music playing in the background to provide a semblance of ambience!

I was in this library in the year of2014looking for somewhere to live From a car it is difficult to have internet access to find anywhere to live alone the worst part was having a person at the back of ma staring at my computer screen so nosey that it was difficult to have any form of privacy at all so I decided to go elsewhere The library however is quite a nice one and quite large hence the three stars instead of less than this I want to bounce off this review however to a nursery that was situated in a bungalow opposite here at the top of glen hills boulevard when that was up and running this however was many years ago and I went there for a work experience job as part of my 800 hours Btec diploma in nursery nursing where I have two years qualified by certificate modules included In this building the children as probably 9 month olds and a bit older were strapped in high chairs with the plastic aprons and an employee was eating out there food tins the tomato’s with her fingers I thought it was disgusting and not very hygienic at all I went to quite a few places for work experience and this was one of them and the year was 1998-2000 I had to give up this course that I did off my own back because I became pregnant with my youngest included I worked in a playgroup for a period of 5-6 months as well The worse part was that when I was at the jobcentre after this date they never ever got me work working with children but were quite snappy for me to stick to sales assistant that I am qualified to do factory work which I have done and am qualified to do and any jobs outside of this they said quite abruptly “are you qualified to do that “ I replied “yes I am “ I have also done whatever I can when my eldest was young and I took her to the playgroup to where I worked I see my jobs are not metal working jobs like the other people Leslie crooks= bolt maker in metal for aeroplanes Glenn priestley = a machine minder and qualified in mig and tig welding that he did at Gec that he did in the same building as Jason Martin It is really weird to that Jason Martin and Glenn priestley both have curly hair and poured over books to do the gec work exactly alike If I was anyone I would look at who has worked in this building now shut down in whetstone you never know the kind of people on cocaine that you will find such as these people Please find out where the workers of this nursery went because I do not want 9month olds and very young babies and children being harmed even by the cross contamination of bacteria by what they eat if they have taken on jobs elsewhere Sarita karwal is also a national nanny education board nneb qualified and she said to myself “dr bolarum her doctor gives her any medication she wants “she doses her eldest Ellis up on nurofen as well a bit to much and her dad is dead even someone called ravinder kaur who she knows put iron filings on peoples drinks and she said directed at me “she had an important job and if anything it’s probably harm “ Sarita s cars always have bashes on them as well where she goes for people and Glenn priestley seemed to back her saying “she just wanted to be my friend”another person who drives at Asian people so his brother told me Steve priestley of what he does to people in which you must of told him your activity’s to people of dangerous driving to harm others with your car I was out one night and sarita karwal got me to meet an insurance guy in the Manhattan bar he had a dark coloured car the insurance building was on the welford road past the old jokers nightclub which was full of mirrored glass a bad road in the city at1point that area when I was 18 had a housing shop with property’s they showed me around one with all sleeping bags on the floor up the humberstone lane I’m not sure where they went neither in this letting agency shop of properties at a time when I was finding my own accomodation to live in because I wasn’t helped at all sleeping on the sofa in my so called fathers home and kept there by the employees in the oadby and wigston council year 1988-1989 age 17-18

The Pork Pie library was built in 1939. It is a Grade II listed building, which was originally designed by local architects Symington Prince and Pyke, it bears a striking resemblance to the St Barnabas Road library in Leicester. Both buildings were thought to have been influenced by the Central Library in Stockholm and Arnos Green Tube Station in London. My memories of it stem from living nearby, down the Wigston Lane and walking up the hill to borrow and return books in the 1950’s.
