D. C.A big public library. Lots of space, some nice light areas to sit and study. Split across two floors; the bottom floor dedicated just to music. When I went someone was playing piano (with headphones on so you couldn't hear her).
They've got a record player and a small selection of vinyl to listen to.
They had an exhibition about Tangerine Dream, including old letters from John Peel and Richard Branson, gold discs, etc. And the whole back catalogue to listen to on the record player.
P. K.Superb library with superb stock. It has a first class music library and room to read and study. This is a 'Rolls Royce' of libraries.

D. B.The staff at Barbican library are very accommodating. You can book the piano with no qualms. They will extend your session if there is nobody in the queue saving you to start the booking process from scratch again.

R. K.The Barbican Library is a great place to work, their are a few secluded desks and free WiFi to help you along. The section on arts is extensive, with a great children's section (in a separate part, no shouting or anything like that). The only thing is, due to the size and amount on offer in the Barbican, it's not quite as peaceful as most libraries. The sounds from the Theatre, Restaurant and Arts Gallery filter up, even at the back of the library. Overall, though, it's a great place to work.
D. D. D.It's a very good library because you don't even need to sign up to use a computer. They just ask your name that's it.
S. R. S.I like everything about the Barbican Library from its surroundings to its ease of access. I visited the Barbican Library a few times in the exam season (May/ June). The library is not as quite as some other libraries, but it has a section at the back which is relatively quite. Though there are limited desks for studying, finding a desk in a corner was not very difficult. The complex also has a few places to grab something to eat.
R. d. C.I usually go there to study because it s open until late at night (11pm). You have nice music in the background and the library is quiet, studying in is pleasant. You can eat or just seat outside next to the water... GOOD PLACE

D. L.I'd been mourning the closure of my local library when I came across the lovely, huge Barbican library. This place is incredible. There's a large selection of books, free wifi (which works intermittently), comfortable armchairs scattered throughout, and a wide variety of CDs and DVDs, as befits the library's location within a performing arts venue. I can't quite put my finger on it but this place feels less sterile than other libraries. Maybe it's because it's more open? Membership is open to anyone living or working in the City of London.
J. H.This is a great place to read and work. There aren't many desks available in the library, but you can sit in the Barbican center itself if it's busy. Wifi is ok, but some desks seem to be out of coverage.
