Reviews of Brick Lane Bookshop
M. A.
friendly staff and the shop itself looks nice and has plenty of books. their stock can be searched on their website too :)
M. F.
Very friendly staff and great book selection. It’s a pretty small book shop but you can put in orders if you’re looking for a book they don’t have in stock.
A. M.
Nice selection of books that you don't see every day, including a well-stocked, albeit tiny children's section. Lovely staff as well.
L. T.
Beautiful selection of books (special mention to the fascinating whole section dedicated to East London itself !) and the staff is very kind and helpful :)
J. S.
Delightful bookshop. Loads of cool books on the history of East London.
A. V.
A beautiful and well-curated selection of all kinds of books. I appreciated the “Feminism & LGBTQIA+” section a lot!
m.
This is a cute little book shops in the heart of Brick Lane. Not really much different from standard high street book shops, but is a good place to pick up some books on local history. They even have copies of Monica Ali's Brick Lane.
E. I.
Cute, small and super cozy. Good selection.
M. A.
Small Independent bookshop + competitive prices + Friendly staff
J. J. S.
Very well-curated bookstore. Especially, if you are traveler and interested in London content, should be there.
A. T.
A nice and warm local bookstore where you can find books tell the history of London and some lovely post cards to keep as souvenirs.
C. Y.
Lovely bookshop with a lot of branded products! I like their cards and postcards collections and of course their cute bags!
H. M.
Wow! I went to browse the books that they have and I loved it. The owner was there and was helping customers which is something I love about independent bookshops. They also have an entire section on East London history, which was so interesting! I will definitely be coming back to buy some East London history books.
j. b.
Despite space constraints find here a representative stock selection touching base with established genres and disciplines.
An especially noteworthy niche selection explores facets of London’s “East End” in an impressive scope and depth.
Prices are industry average with REAL bargains in the ‘classics’ section.
Certainly worth a visit.
K.
Perfect little bookshop in the heart of brick lane. I can never get bored of going here. They have all the key recent books you’d want to see; classics; ideological left wing publications; London guides…..
Staff are lovely and knowledgeable
You can even get some bargains it’s not at all overpriced! Very competitive prices!
S. T. O.
Many thanks for agreeing to stock Abul Lais Shyamal's book Bangladesh 50, photography during the war of independence in Sylhet Bangladesh
B. R. W.
Great book shop, very traditional. Check out the Philosophy section right by the entrance
C. P.
Lovely place, great selection of titles, sweet oasis amidst the Brick Lane craziness
S. G.
It’s small, but has a nice selection of books.
A.
Loved this bookstore.
M. H.
Great bookshop with a wide selection of books, especially LGBT and feminist books. I have gone here now and again for 4 years and always enjoy my time at the shop and totally recommend.
T. S.
A small but wonderfully stocked bookshop, the sort of place where time stands still, as you're drawn into the delights waiting on it's shelves. It's these types of beautifully intimate shops we need to rush back to at the first opportunity, to feed us after lockdown. In the meantime, we can't still pick up orders and get Brick Lane book tokens for gifts. Sometimes something's real value is only appreciated when it's denied us, and I think this book shop is a good example of that.
M. J.
A brilliant bookshop in Brick Lane. They have a brilliant collection of books focused local history, particularly the diverse communities that have shaped the vibrancy of the East End over the last 100 years or more.
P. G.
One of the best independent bookshops around with a true community heritage going back 40+ years from Tower Hamlets Arts Project and continuing with a great ethos and still run by Denise Jones and a great team. Look out for their annual short story competition!
R. K.
I would definitely recommend shopping with the Brick Lane Bookshop. I had never shopped with them previously, but I called up the shop late on Friday afternoon (1st May) and asked for two different books, both of which they had in stock and they processed my ordered there and then over the phone. I received my books the following Monday morning in excellent condition and with a lovely bookmark included for free. Excellent and quick service. Will be using them again in the future.
E. L. C.
One of my favourite book stores, always such a great selection. Has some good sales from time to time.
S. B.
A great indie bookshop with a lot crammed into a small but perfectly amazing space! You will not only find recent books, the classics and books focussing on London and the East End you will also find a range of gifts and interesting items. A great bookshop in a great location!
F.
Exceptional customer service, quick replies, really friendly and efficient staff. Can not recommend them enough and will use them again. Thanks so much to Kalina, Polly and the team for helping me with my order.
J. B.
Great for local history of East End of London.
M. l.
Always visit as an excellent local bookshop with well informed staff who are happy to see you. May not be amazon prices but a better experience.
S. H.
Classic independent bookshop with helpful and knowledgeable staff. A well curated collection crammed onto limited shelf space. Includes a good selection of local interest publications and a small corner of nice kids books (plus all the usual travel, fiction, non-fiction etc). Happy browsing.
T. L.
Lot of books, good prices and kind staff.
B. N. D.
Lovely bookstore! One of my favorites
I. L.
Google info leads you to believe it's a 2nd hand book shop. It isn't , but it's still great to kill some time poking around and buying books, albeit new.
S.
not bad has all type of books
O. B.
Nice little bookshop with good selection of books
N. P.
Really lovely book store. A lot of popular smash hit books but also a few unexpected gems. Nice staff. Lovingly adorned shop. Cash-register area was traipsed with nick-nacks available for purchase.
T. H.
Good selection of books.
Not many of these independent book shops
left which is a big shame.
D. D.
A firm personal favourite of bookshops.
Carters well for the adventurous tourist and local city dweller alike. Has a great selection of local books, art and hobby craft, poetry and a fiction secfion which leans away from the traditional and more toward the Sci-fi / fantasy and cult literature.
Although a small shop in size, it packs everything in well without feeling overcrowded.
Tucked away at the back, lined up neatly upon the foot on the shelves, is their 'sale' section of up to half price book, and although they do alternate them often, they are always a great selection of must own cult classics and hidden gems of pop literature.
D. L.
When I used to live in East London, this shop was one of my favourites to visit. Although small, it has a great selection of books and was for a long time my go-to place for greeting cards. A hidden gem on Brick Lane.
S. M.
Nice little bookshop with more than just the touristy "London" books. Will order books for you as well
M. B.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Independent book store with lots of great choices. Great location too!
M. P.
very nice bookshop. it is cozy and there are many interesting books you may have never heard about. the right place you want to go if you need some relax from the chaotic Brick Lane Market
N. K.
Brick Lane Bookshop boasts not only a wide variety of books, but also an exceptional staff: patient, helpful and charming & encouraging new writers and welcoming all readers.
P. H.
Lovely little indie bookshop. In case there's another lockdown (fingers crossed there isn't), check their website as they also deliver books directly to you.
V. R.
Not the worlds biggest book shop, but an ever pleasant, friendly and helpful team of staff who are always more than willing to order in or advice on any book purchases. I always try to make this my first port of call when I want to buy a book or two.
Y. C.
Nice place to pick up books!! The prices are really nice! I wonder if you guys can put up a little sitting area for us to read a little for picking up unexplored titles.
M. L.
Super helpful staff, the book I wanted was out of print though, but they found where out where I could buy one secondhand. Long live this shop.
L. K.
It's a cool place for book readers. And, well, I'm one, and I loved it! Only -1 star, because there was a problem with finding books
S. H. (. w.

(Translated) Unusually in Korea, eco bags are more famous bookstores. But it is a good bookstore with the role of independent bookstore and book curation in the neighborhood. Stay longer:)
(Original)
