Reviews of Corbett Community Library

This library is conveniently position along Torridon Road where there is a good range of buses. It is well used and over the years has really taken off as a resourceful place for local people. Its well stocked with books for adults and children theres a community room hired by local groups. With the exception of 2 staff members it is run by volunteers.
There is a chldren section where mothers often meet.
Various groups meet here such as slimming world, seniors, advice sessions and a Childrens Health Clinic. If you have extra shopping theres a box you can leave food for a local food bank.

I teach English at the Library, Mondays beginners 1-3.Thurs E2/3. 9.30 - 11.30
Friday conversation E2-3. 10-12
The library is also a community arts centre, with activities & classes, giving local people ( of all ages) an opportunity to meet each other and learn together!

This is not the library you would want to go to if you are a college/university student as the times of closing are not conducive for extensive studying and neither are the resources.
I remember when the library used to close for lunch. They would tell everyone to come out for an hour. Hopefully they no longer do that as it was, in my eyes, the most careless and ignorant move they could have made as people, like myself and many others, would find other reliable libraries and move within that hour given to stand outside.
I can't help but think the library could have done more to influence young people to come and study there, such as extending its closing time and hosting academic events, which would probably result in more young people wanting to volunteer at the library based on the library's service to them.
Moving on, if you are looking to find room to study, you will need to ensure you hurry up as spaces are few, since the closing of the computer room.
If you need to get your work done, it is best you check for the "popular times" graphs to see when the library is less packed.
The library, however, is well lit and the staff very helpful.
When you do get a seat, you can study without the noise. However, I do advise that you check the timetable of the library to ensure you are not clashing with the children's reading time, if you want to avoid the noise.
The library is taken care of by lovely volunteers who ensure that the library serves the community and that in itself shows the compassion for the community.

Friendly, helpful and supporting the community to promote and house groups of individuals to continue classes for young children among others in appreciation of the French language and in music, and more. The library section is not huge but comprehensive in it’s reading matter and the service is endorsed by a helpful group of willing and enthusiastic group of volunteers. More communities in the Greater London area could take notice of this initiative in view of the growing threat from local authorities to close their libraries and sell the land or turn them into money making gymnasiums.
