Reviews of Forbidden Planet London Megastore
P.
The shop It's a heaven of comic books very big variety of books available. I'm looking forward to seeing the shop again. You can spend there 2 or 3 hours immediately.
M. H.
Great selection of manga and other general nerdy products. May be a little expensive compared to some other places but considering London location and a good student discount it can be worth it. Great display of items and friendly staff too. Something to consider is that you might not have phone signal in here. If you’re into geek culture you may want to visit even if you don’t buy anything.
M. B.
Loved it. Bought some stuff had a great time. Staff very knowledgeable. Very clean and well laid out. Was a comic book, scifi persons dream
F. P.
I've visited this store many many times. Great as an adult or for your kids. Lots of action figures, board games, books and comics, and other collectibles, shirts and posters. A must visit if you have never been. Highly recommend.
A. W.
Very very crowded but for good reason. There's just so much great stuff to see in here, I had to leave before sensory overload! Models, figures, and am awesome library of anime and graphic novels downstairs made this a wonderful birthday destination for me and my friends!
D. A.
Been to several forbidden planet’s and size and stock wise this one isn’t too different, it shouldn’t be considered a “Megastore”. The manga/comic section downstairs is very organised and pleasant, however, the 3 for 2 deal should be presented better, for some reason this forbidden planet does not apply the offer to every manga but only selected few unlike other branches.
F. K. I.
Its nice little place for shope manga, anime and tv shows related items.
They got funko-pops, manged, figurines and other wearables and posters, they got a wide range variety of genres.
The ground floor level are mainly for figurines, and other collectibles, but the main manage and books are on the lower level.
Although it may seem nice, thinking back I kinda feel it's slightly underwhelming as there aren't enough variety of items for bigger more mainstream anime and manages. (E.g. lets say you like One Piece, they only have a handful of manages and a couple of figurines and that's it, felt underwhelming)
F.
Extremely crowded but nice but expensive figures. Lots of mangas, comics and books downstairs! Would recommend!
D. J.
Always love visiting Forbidden Planet! They don't try to be competitive on price however it's awesome seeing so much good stuff, I rarely leave here or the Manchester store without making a purchase!
N. P.
Great selection of manga; they have all the best titles. Come here regularly with my daughter and she can always get what she wants. They also do e- vouchers which are great gifts.
r. e.
soooo many people inside, so i definitely recommend people to visit on a weekday. but it’s a fan paradise! i wanted to buy the whole store because they had the best licensed stuff. shirts, figurines, accessories - amazing.
X.
it's not bad, although recently the store has a problem with arranging comics on the shelves, there is a bit of chaos but I still like it and recommend this store.
A. M.
awesome store. books, comics, manga, illustrations, souvenirs ... so much more. I disappeared here for 2 hours. My favorite store.
R. S.
First ever weekend spent in London (I'm from the South West) and honestly, even though we waddled everywhere to try to find some Pokémon plushies and they ended up being sold out, this store was the highlight of our trip! Friendly staff, incredible selection of all things nerdy/geeky and I honestly think I was better than Hambleys for my taste 🤷♀️ there were pins, dice, books, Manga, merchandise and statues!! Honestly the most money I've ever spent
..
But when given the opportunity to buy a cute lil backpack with Appa from Avatar... I wasn't going to say no...
100% recommend, but if you want all things Pokémon, maybe don't go last minute on a Sunday 😅
P. d. M.
Incredible place. Plenty of interesting things like comics, movie action figures, RPG stuff, clothing and much mote.
Y. k.

I will however endlessly drop my tenners on manga and comics 🥴

Wow! Just wow!
If you are a geek (like me), you are gonna love this place so much you should put a lock in your wallet. It is a very big store with lots of objects, figures, toys, shirts, posters, whatever you may imagine for anything related to scienci fiction, fantasy, animation, and any other geeky thing.
On the lower floor there are the books, comics, movies, music, and other related things that you surelly will also love.
As if this were not enough, the people working there is quite nice, always trying to help and willing to have a nice chat if possible. And if they don't have any thing you are looking for, and they cannot provide it in time, they will suggest you other places where you may look for it.
H.
Huge range of products over two floors. We went in for a board game and didn't know where to start! Staff are super helpful and knowledgeable and can point you in the right direction
T. N.
Amazing place for all your comic/manga/funko pop needs. Was lacking in Pokémon cards which is obviously in high demand but would have been nice to see more of a selection.
M. G.
Amazing place to find unique toys cards anything film tv series as well as loads of comics. We were so glad to find transformers figures that my son wanted. Their is so much stuff to see here you could spend hours just looking. Great place with great pieces to look at. Highly recommend.
t. f.
Best place to buy pop culture.
Wanted a poster but they had none in store.
They did have 3 on display in window that were just paper copies, 1 on staircase but they would not allow me to buy 1 of those as they were for the display. Shame, as they lose a star for a bit of a poor service.
k. k.
The best comics shop I visited in London for years
P. G.
Speaking as a 51 year old child, it is a fantastic store! So much to see and buy. A huge range of goods that will cater for most tastes in comic and movie/tv memorabilia and collectibles.
Staff were brilliant and helpful too. Definitely go!
J. C.
Love this place full of film and comic memorabilia.
E. N.
Great place. But it was really busy and did not really care about social distancing, other than that was great my wallet is dying know but that's what geeks like me do.
L. H.
Rather busy and not too many staff around to help, but had a great selection and some brilliant offers. Managed to buy an Assassin's creed film artwork book for 99p!
m. f.
This is the place to buy your manga collections. The range is massive and the colleagues are fans aswell so can help you out. You never feel judged. Also has lots of comics, models and other bits of merch.
R. A.
Great place to buy the coolest of things. Be warned can get very busy, but probably being the biggest comic book/nerd loving store in London, is no surprise. Love getting my manga from here as well with their 3 for 2 deals and whenever I need to buy gifts for friends and family.
J. B.
With so many generic shops..coffee shops, clothes, etc. This is a great place for something a little different.
D. D. R.
Stunning collection of anything comics, movies, tv shows, video games etc. Sadly it is missing any sort of soundtracks on vinyl which should be standard these days.
F. C.
Probably the best verison of Forbidden Planet, has a lot of geeky stuff, basically something for everyone. However I wish they did more game merch like they used to. However it's the best place to my knowledge to buy manga.
s. r.
Been to the store for the first time today was great had some good selection of manga and comics but staff are somewhat rude and down stairs just smelled like BO maybe get some ventilation down stairs
N. F.
Great selection of comic books, graphic novels, board games and memorabilia but unfortunately, due to an issue with their card machine, they were accepting cash only and so we left empty-handed
J.
Took my kids here they loved it i did too. Bought lots of comics and books amazing place be ready to spend a fortune 🤣🤣🤣🤣 nice toys there to. I love this place been visiting for years
Μ.
Forbidden Planet is my favorite comic book so far with a huge selection in the underground floor. The staff is always positive and nice considering how much busy they are daily. The only improvement I would recommend is the service of the online store, last year I ordered 2 comics and they came after 15 days.
C. C.
My favourite place in London to buy manga! I've been going here for years and they always have the latest volumes, plus their non-expiring 3 for 2 offer on certain series is really great.
D. S.
What a selection of amazing stuff pretty much had everything any geek or need could want i loved it and bought some great books for really good price!
A. C.
The store is any geeks dream! Love buying marvel staff from there, and great for funko pops. Sometimes can get a bit packed and busy but that ain’t the stores fault and would totally go and check it out!
M. P.
I went here last summer when I went to London and it has everything you would need.Because I collect adventure time merchandise I was really surprised how much there were and the staff were really helpful ane they knew where it was in the store.
A. R.
Great shop, I have frequented this place for years and have noticed the diminished Lord of The Rings stock unfortunately. Great for all your Marvel, DC and anything else us nerds enjoy though x
B. E.
A fabulous, huge shop that should provide joy for anyone who likes pop cultures, comics, genre books, film, board games, art, figurines. Incredibly helpful and knowledgeable staff.
B.
Seems to have a good range of everything apart from Funko Pops which I went for. Also very overcrowded and not a good layout. The other location are far better.
A. R.
Probably the best comic, manga/anime, cartoon store in London. Steep prices but they have a really good variety of items. Definitely worth a visit.
R. H.
Kind staff generous with their time to talk to you about your child's manga needs.
Super busy on a Saturday.....but worth the queues around the aisles in my opinion!
P. N.
My kids have a Pokémon problem… for real we were looking for the best store in london to buy a real Pokémon battle set and this place is awesome. Great service and we felt like entering a different world… thank you.
A. W.
Great shop. Full of plenty different geeks gadgets and toys. There is a huge library downstairs. So every fun from Star Wars to manga will find something interesting
T. G.
Amazing store, you will find whatever you want related to pop culture. The comic and manga selection is huge and they always have many things on sale, if you come to London and are into these type of things then this is a must.
Easy 5 stars
T. P.
Great geek culture store. Has some lovely collectibles at reasonable prices. Can recommend a visit.
S. J.
Staff were very helpful letting me sit down while my daughter shopped i am disabled. She loved it and will go back when we are in London again.
A. P.
So many different things to look at and see. Comic books selection had plenty of variety.
P. A.
Very cool place it has an entire floor just for comic books and graphic novels with the other floor being filled with merchandise, the prices are good too
V. A.
Nice shop, well stocked. Not enough Dr who stuff for me. Or toys for us old timers like Indiana Jones or Rocketeer.
Just my preference.
A. T.
Love the place, great variety - a lot of franchises and a decent amount of memorabilia from each.
L. G.
Very busy....sadly customers not observing social distancing - no fault of the store, just people not caring. Staff very helpful with my purchases.
K. M.
Fantastic place for fans of action figures of all types as well as any props related to superhero movies. Has also a whole lower level for comic books of all kinds. Gets pretty crowded quite often, so my recommendation is if able to, visit early upon opening hours.
D. C.
What a fun comic book store. They have so many pop figures as well as HP, comics/marvel/DC, and the list goes on. The staff are extremely nice and they have some rare figurines on display. Definitely worth a stop by if your in London.
P. S.
Nowadays is just a geek superstore and tourist trap, but is one of the few places in central London where you can find merchandising, comic books and other geek culture stuff, but they went just to famous and to big.
Just pay attention to the prices in some of the items, and don't expect the friendly warmth of a local store but more like what Waterstones is to your local bookshop. Still worth to visit time to time.
C. B.
Fantastic place for collectibles and figures not to mention the extensive range of comics and books on basement floor.
N. B.
Absolutely the best place for all comic, film & pop culture stuff with loads of merch. You could spend whole day in here if you are nerd 🤣!
B. O.
When I was an avid comic reader in the late 1980s the name Forbidden Planet was a Mecca of comics and science fiction. It was with some amusement then that I was recently asked by my daughter if we could visit the store in search of a Marvel Toy figure. The superstore has a wide range of toys and other merchandise so is a haven for fans and enthusiasts. Luckily we found the item requested, which was not available at the Disney Store.
J. S.
My kids and I love this store. My boys have a keen interest in some quite off track comics and TV programmes and they are never left wanting after a visit to this store. We will often make the 100 mile round journey just to visit here.
If you like sci-fi, movies, memorabilia and something a little alternative you will probably find it here
R. S.
Really fun store. People ages 0-99+ are there. It's not a typical "American comic book store" . On the first floor they have gifts, figurines, t-shirts and all kinds of collectibles. On the basement it's a.huge selection of comics, fiction novels, paranormal novels, they have an amazing new kind of categories like "paranormal romance".
It's an interesting trip and a fun store.
R. F.
A great store with lots around to see, wish there were more as I'm a fan of some series that weren't on display this time.
ש. ב.
I love this place! Whether I pop in for a quick browse, or get lost for hours in sections of comic books, novels, games, and toys (that send me back years) - it's always a fantastic time.
The staff is nice and knowledgeable.
J. M.
Great selection of geeky Sci fi stuff. Always enjoy coming here. Lots of collectibles, books, cds, dvds, comics etc to choose from. If you like sci-fi then you'll love FP.
H. M.
Cheapest place to get manga and have wide variety of comics, actioon figures . I would really recommend the place for anyone who's in search for a place that is for nerds
R. C.
A store worthy of its title. This store has a lot of variety for those looking for comics, board games, figurines, models and more. All clearly priced with no surprises. The display unit when you step in of all the models is impressive. Everything is laid out very smart and informatively and easy to navigate. There are little sections for certain fandoms so you can find everything they have in that group. Every time I come to London, this place is always in my list.
M. D.
Quite packed. Had a nice collection of collectables. Will definitely revisit once summer rush has finished. I really want this pokemon cap.
A. C.
The best stocked comic shop in London, but a bit on the pricey side. They probably have every single new issue you are looking for but unfortunately the staff(if you can find one) doesn't always know where to look for so you could end up spending a lot of time finding what you want.
The upper floor is full of collectibles and fun stuff, while downstairs you will find the graphic novels, books, comics and dvd's. An amazing experience to satisfy your inner geek :)
V. H.
Your one stop for action figures, sci fi books, comics from various universe. One can easily spends 1-2 hrs In the store.
There are different toys along with figurines.
B. R.
A great shop for comic/manga/anime/movie geeks like me. Great range of products from tons of different genres and subjects. My only tip would be to get there early, when we went the shop was really busy and the shelves weren't very full.
D. L.
It was okay, it’s good if you’re into books and novels. However comic readers are better off in other comic shops in the area. Comics here are a bit scarce.
J. E. C. (.
Wasn't what I expected to be honest. Has lots of comics downstairs but was hoping they would have more pokemon / yu-gi-oh products such as mats, sleeves etc. Unfortunately I didn't see any at all. Nice to see the sale of Gundam and things you don't see in normal shops though but not that impressed.
R. I.
Last time I came here I was solely on the lookout for pop vinyls, that selection was still somewhat limited but I'll but that down to funko being increasingly lazy now days. The comics and books section downstairs was phenomenal and well worth a visit for that alone.
R. L.
Great shop for all your plastic tat and graphic novels. It's a bit more anime and Japanese cartoons than it used to be and less film stuff
R. G.
Awesome place. Shelves a bit battered during our visit and no such a good array of stuff as on previous visits. Some staff could do with cheering up as my cashier looked like she had a personality bypass. 😂
E. T.
Always a great visit. The downstairs labyrinth of comic books, manga and board games is always worth a visit.
J. M.
Great selection for marvel lovers, I bought myself a (Sam Wilson) Captain America Special Edition Funko Pop. On the ground floor you can buy action figures, funko pops and other toys from all of your favourite fandoms, including: Marvel, DC, Harry Potter, Fantastic Beasts and more. However, Downstairs you can buy and catch up on the best comics or find yourself an interesting book:)
l. m. M.
Amazing shop. Full of fantastic stuff. The staff were really helpful and sweet.
This shop can become an addiction.
Q. I. P.
Mega it was! My friend found here the special edition he was looking for, for quite a long time! Definitely recommend
O. S. (.
Best place in London if you want something related to games/ movie or comics. Nice staff too. Peek your time wisely as it can be very crowded.
A.
Amazing! Had to give my partner my wallet so I wouldn't spend on such fantastic figures and merch. Basement is stunning if you're a reader of any manga series!
S. A.
If you like comics/mangas this place will be very interesting. I love the vibe here and they have a very big selection of comics and mangas etc. There’s usually some event happening here and it’s always very full. Got free comics. They also have a buy 3 for 2 very often. I find the prices kinda high but I guess that’s normal. I’d recommend to check this out.
N. S.
The word mediocre seems just about right for the store been here before and nothing really changes and the store seems to not have a-lot than what I expected was going to be in store. Would love a good remodel sometime.
A. A.
Always one of my favourite places to visit.
I'm not to into the figure side of things, it always seems to be empty.
But there manga selection is huge and the 3 for 2 deal that's always on makes it the only place I'll buy manga from.
A. A.
Fantastic selection of items for sale beautifully presented and reasonably priced.
The comic and sci-fi memorabilia they have on sale is second to none.
The staff is friendly and really knowledgeable on the various items on sale.
E. A.
Great to be back after 3 a months break... very happy to find it well stocked and organized for safe shopping. Friendly and helpful staff, as always. And still plenty of comics on the shelves which are otherwise sold out everywhere, if you want to avoid the scalpers on Ebay... this visit made my day! - Update as per 16/2/22 - FP is still a recommended morning visit on new comic book day (Wednesday) with good selection of comics on the shelves, many often sold out online these days before even hitting the shops, which seems to be the 'new normal' post covid times...
D. B.
Brilliant store for comic, super hero fans. Excellent range of memorabilia such as statues of comic and film characters.
B. R.
Loved this store. Had almost everything a person could want that collects graphic novels. The staff were very polite and helpful.
H.
Great place to spend a few hours. My teens love going there and browsing the Harry Potter merchandise and all the other TV programs’ merchandise as well. You can find almost anything there! The basement is full of books. The store is near soho and is a few minutes walk from Tottenham Court Road station.
S. C.
I love this place. Has so much geeky stuff.
J. W.
Loved this place, a goldmine of all things Sci-fi and Fantasy. Couldn't get round it all so I'm booking another trip in the not too distant future. Very helpful and curtious staff.
G. G.
Mecca. The best comic book shop in London. Has a wealth of merch and memerobilia for geeks and people who just love mainstream stuff like Marvel movies and Rick and Morty. What a world we live in where those two things are mainstream.
R. G.
The selection of books was large, I was very impressed, however, the pop vinyl selection was disappointing compared to other FP stores. A good selection of board games and other collectables.
B. P.
Definitely a place for geeks, a heaven I would say. Just go with a lot of money, but everything you can imagine you'll probably find it here!
F.
A large Comic book and Merchandise Store which is probably The largest in London citY. There arentow levels. In The lower Level There are books and The Comic books with The largest issues of US Comics and so in. In The ground Level There are a Lot of Merchandise articles Ranginger from Comic characters, movies/TV and gaming. The staff ist very knowledgeable and eager to Help. There are designated Service Points where you can also Staffel members questions.
M.
Most of the products are of western comics and movies. A few figures, light novels from Japanese anime.
Supprised that there is no product on models and figure on any Japanese robot anime, e.g Gundam, etc
S. B.
Sadly it's gone downhill since I visited pre-pandemic. There was a much wider range of themes for the products back then, but this time about half the main floor was taken up by Anime stuff. There was a disappointing Sci-fi variety which made the trip kind of a disappointment. Oh and at the time of writing this that big playmobile original Enterprise is about £200 cheaper at Hamleys of all places!
R. J.
Such a great variety of books and merchandise. My boy loved it and spent so long looking at things. Helpful friendly staff .
B. J.
Had a great time last week wandering around and looking at the comics and merchandise, bought some stuff as well.
A. Y.
Best place to find every comic book, every action figure, every poster, every single book related to movies and comic books! Just the experience of getting to visit this place is just amazing!
P. W.
Best place in the world that doesn't have food. I could spend hours upon days upon weeks upon months in this shop trawling through and discovering the vast amount of comics and graphic novels. Only gripe is......come with a fat wallet.
S. “. L.
It's always nice to visit Forbidden Planet, but during covid times, the only precaution taken was an (empty) container of hand wash. Otherwise, it was a crush of people, many of whom wore no masks, we didn't feel very comfortable. Additionally, the stock was out / low (numerous empty shelves) in many places and the checkout guy I got was unusually surly (I had dared to ask for a bag for a huge book I'd bought, he obliged reluctantly). Not it's finest hour! Maybe give it a miss until covid has blown over :P
m.
I used to love coming into Forbidden Planet as a kid and I still read comics occasionally. Now I have more money to buy some of the more expensive items like action figures, sculptures etc.
This is a great place for fans of comics, manga, animation, sci-fi films and tv etc. The place is packed with so much stuff it's easily possible to spend 2 hours in the store just to get through all the memorabilia and that not even including downstairs where they have the comics, books, games etc.
Fantastic.
M. V.
This place is incredible. They have everything and made me wish I had infinite time and money. I found books I haven't seen in ages, manga from every genre, and every one of my favorite comics.
T. D.
This is my favourite shop, many years ago I used to work at one of the branches in a small town...anyway staff here are knowledgeable and helpful, but its usually quite crowded. I could honestly spend all the money I have here on my favourite fandoms, they always have amazing figures and books and comics. Upstairs are statues, figures, merchandise. Downstairs they have comics, graphic novels, manga, RPGs, artbooks, novels. They can order things and are great with comic back orders and standing orders but I've always preferred to make special orders and exclusives from smaller retailers who I've found a bit more reliable with special orders like statues. Worth having a look no matter what you're into.
P. H.
wow 🤯 mind blowing store with all collectables and memorabilia from films, games and TV shows, you can spend a long time just browsing and taking in what they have.
L. (.
Ah well... Chaos.
Sorry to say guys, please come and visit Edinburgh Forbidden Planet...
Its like half of the size of your "megastore" (I can't stop sarcastic smile when I say this), yet fits it all. Beautifully organised, excellently displayed and very well supplied.
N. M.
We love Forbidden Planet, always end up in here when we visit London, they have a huge selection of Manga.
J. S.
Friendly staff, lots of cool merch, and a lot of art books/ comics/ manga!
H. R.
Absolutely LOVE coming here!!! Such a special treat to browse all the comic books and new merch! Always such friendly staff too!!
l. l.
Really good models in here such as starwars and marvel. If you consider yourself as a starwars fan like me I'd recommend its worth a visit!
J. F.
THE nerd Mecca for London!
I have been coming to FP since it opened in Denmark Street, before moving to New Oxford St and then to its current location. In days gone by, you could always find something left field, either a "garage" resin kit of a space craft, or other unusual memorabilia. Now days the stock is still diverse, but sadly far more commercial.
Why are all the tee-shirts only in "XXXL" sizes? I am aware that many nerdy people are a little on the hefty side, bit how about catering for the non-beardy normal sized frame? My teenage son would love some of the tee-shirts, but as he's built like flag pole with acne he would be swamped.
C. R.
Most expansive store for gaming, manga, anime, comics, collectables and the like!
y. p.
All way crowded excellent coice of toys staff are helpful and friendly
A. F.
Was a bit busy when I was there but the staff were friendly and efficient. I thought I would be there for ages but the queue was dealt with extremely quick. Maybe avoid if you are not good with crowds but apart from that two thumbs up from this guy!
I. O.
I remember the site in Denark St when I was 12. This is soulless. I imagine if you want stuff it's there. It caters for the fanboy. It's okay. Maybe I'm lamenting the fact that comics don't matter.
H. S.
This place is just sooooo COOOL, check it out it has a range of products, booked, comics, merchandise etc . I went to get manga for my little brother . But seriously go
A. A.
Always great. Full of desirable objects. Current 3 for 2 on manga books is a great deal
B. S.
Great store. Over 2 floors. Bottom floor is magazine and comic area. Highly recommend
G. S.
Packed full of fun things for geeks and film memorabilia. Downstairs has some great book sales.
V.
Brilliant selection of Manga, comics and merchandise, along with some little known series that were worth the visit to see. Staff are friendly and helpful and has a wide range of tastes for anyone into Manga, comics or books. Would recommend visiting at least once if you are into anything Sci-Fi or comic/manga related!
M. E.
Geek heaven. Excellent selection of books, comics, figurines and all things fandom related. Could have spent hours browsing
A. C.
The place has a big collection. I would've expected more shirts and a better design for the place. It seems more like a warehouse than an actual welcoming and interesting store. Also it could be organized better to be more spacious.
O. M.
A great place to go for anime and Sci-fi merchandise, very crowded but everyone wore masks and used hand sanitiser, and the staff were very friendly and helpful.
D. H.
Wide selection of goods for all ages. My only issue is that this store is always extremely packed, which means sometimes it's an issue to navigate to certain shelves such as their grab boxes. These boxes are located near the register, so when busy they are inaccessible.
K. M.
I am not a fan of comics or figurines but my daughter is and followed her there. I was really impressed at the collections they had.
B.
Great selection of Pop Vinyls and Comics. Whole of lower level is just comics! The shop was busy at the time I visited which is always a good sign. As a fussy 'mint in box' collector I found products on the shelf to all be in very nice condition. They hadn't been bumped about :)
A. F.
I love this shop when it comes to comic books, movies and action figures.
The staff are very friendly and know how to give you a piece of advice and are also very helpful and considerate with disabled costumers.
Overall, an amazing place to go.
T. B.
I had an AMAZING time at Forbidden Planet! I loved the Doctor Who and Star Wars sections, I just wish anyone in London carried Red Dwarf paraphernalia! I also suggest their satchel bags they sell at the front. I got one, and it has actually become one of my favorite bags. I'll have to get 2 next time! It's bigger on the inside.
M. L.
They have such a huge amount of awesome comic books, board games, figures merch & other things.
Name anything nerdy or geeky and they will probably have it.
I personally looked at the Adventure time, Avatar the Last Airbender and Avatar the legend of Korra comics as you can see in my pictures.
P. G.
It's a great place, but we couldn't find American office funko pops because they weren't licensed to sell them in the UK. Unlike practically every other store and online store. But if you aren't after those, this place has a lot of great features and some quality discounted movie art books downstairs. It felt hot in the store so possibly no air con, and their mask policy was unclear.
L.
Majority of their stock was Pop figures with the odd statue and clothing item. Prices seemed quite steep compared to online stores. Air-conditioning only worked on one half of the store. Customers queuing to buy items were in the same place as the entrance, making it quite hard to keep socially distanced when entering or exiting the store.
N. S. (.
Anime, star wars, marvel, comics, manga, merch wear they got it all, if u don't find it in store check their website they got it
L. T.
Wide selection of manga, table game, fantasy collectables, books and much more, awesome place for the one who likes the gender
T. E.
A must-go place for any fan of pop culture. This store has two floors and a huge selection of products from t-shirts to card games, books or figurines. Comic books are restocked weekly and often include variant covers.
S. M.
Great selection but was MEGA busy. Bit disorganised with the queue for the tills stopping people coming in. A bit chaotic to be honest
H. G.
Wonderful place with plenty of Nerdy tid-bits! Definitely recommend for anyone looking for comics or memorabilia
C. K.
It's forbidden planet! What more can you want! Manga, comics and even some board games. Amazing deals and sales. Picked up some bargains too
C. J. G.
The best place for comic memorabilia. Can get very crowded.
A. D.
Great visit with loads of Sci-Fi stuff and more, was hoping to see and buy some model kits but seems they don't sell them there Still worth a visit though
A. R.
Great store for your comic books pop culture memorabilia etc
R. S.
Was recommended this as a place to visit by some friends who love the store and I could see why from the moment I stepped in.
A true megastore for fans of all things science fiction, anime, cartoon or comic book. They even sell board games related to the genres too. Really great place to go to, one day I hope I'll be able to afford that star lord helmet!
J. M.
This is a nice big collection of all things nerdy! Worth a visit around if your in the area. Not the best comic store near by but definitely the best place for all things pop culture.
Lovey big collection of anime and manga aswell
M. S.
I am very impressed by this shop. I didn't expected there to have so many cool stuff! I will definetly buy something from there once again! Cheers.
A.
Always had a great time, great layout and a lot of fun for anime fans!
D. T.
Really cool place. Loads of everything. Not rip off prices as well which was good to see.
t. k.
Very nice and big store with a ton of comics and some nice merch. Just a bit expensive.
N. S.
Came here for the overwatch stuff and that was ok. Wish there was more overwatch related stuff like that official tracer and widow statue (which i would have paid good money for). Good selection of manga as well. I’m not much a comic fan but if you are, this place has you covered.
P. M.
Great place and every geek thing imaginable is under this roof. It's a tradition whenever we come to London.
N. C.
I was already impressed by the store and the number of merchandise they got until I went downstairs. What a mindblowing basement they got, the store got a huge amount of book, manga, games, comics book alongside other things. I saw myself going back 3 times during my vacation in london.
S. J.
Went on a Saturday so mega busy! Great range of stuff from most genre favourites. So hot downstairs though!
All in all a great shop with cool stuff.
B. K. P.
Its a paradise for fiction lovers. Anyone who even have a slightest inclination towards superheroes will love this place to visit.
Not a so avid reader of comics, I still find this place as a treasure as has all the souvenirs related any fictional characters you can think of.
I was not even thinking of buying anything but ended up buying these amazing keychains!
E. P.
I was looking for some manga novels and posters. Huge selection and everything well laid out. Geeks heaven.
R.
Plenty of merch, comics and manga. I would have liked to see more artbooks though
N.
Nerds man cave collections, there are superheroes marvel and DC, games overwatch fortnite etc, doctor who, harry potter. (besides Noble Collection option)
M. C.
Excellent selection of Anime and Manga toys and collectables. Will definitely visit again.
D. D.
The perfect spot for a geek like me to check out all my fav sci-fi, fantasy etc tv and movie memorabilia. The icing on the cake however, is the fairly large and very well stocked book shop carrying a wide variety of books and manga from both well-known and not so well-known authors.
T. H.
I was here with my boyfried as a part off trip on one day off. It was a great experience. This magical place has from figures, posters, stickers, mugs.... to an incredible amount of comics.
Staff were more than willing and advised us about the selection. 🧚🏼♀️
J. J. (. J.
Went there to do some much needed christmas shopping, and was not disappointed :) a lot of nerdy books and merchandise sure to please the geeks in your life. The staff was extremely helpful and chipper, which I didn't expect considering how packed with customers the store was and how busy they seemed. Still they took the time to find me the products I was looking for and seemed very knowledgeable!
They've got a wide variety of figurines t shirt western and eastern geek merch galore. A huge amount of manga too :)
N. C.
A great store for pop culture fans, where you can buy books that ate signed by their authors. Many universes are available. It's a pity we don't have anything like it in France
M. A.
Treasure trove of gifts and treats. We could have spent hours looking around. Friendly, approachable staff.
L.
Geek heaven!
Great staff who are helpful and don't hassle you when you're browsing.
A great selection of figures and merch, and the downstairs area of books, comics and boardgames is fantstic. Good range of D&D guides and more.
F. B.
Great place but I'd have expected there to be more stock available with it been a major store
R. L.
Staff are great, very welcoming and helpful. Good covid security, limitations on number of people in the store, be prepared to wait if you don't come early. Great selection of graphic novels downstairs, good gifts and figurines upstairs, games downstairs also.
T. S. (.
A big store with lots of variety of stuff from comics, manga, light novels, books, figures and merch. I was a little disappointed when looking for manga as they went on shelf. Bit surprising since I found what I wanted in the Nottingham branch.
C. B.
Great shop it is always a but crowded so would not be suitable for wheelchair users even though there is wheelchair access. So much geek items could spend hour and too much money there
D. G.
A Nerds paradise- I go here every time I'm around London, It's definitely my favourite shop to look around. Whether you're looking for memorabilia, comics, books or clothes from all the biggest (and the smallest) fandoms, Forbidden Planet has everything.
A. M.
What an absolute incredible place just so much stuff to look at its awesome only tiny disappointment for me was a lack of walking dead bits but still awesome 👌
F. B.
Super cool store, there is a basement section with mostly books and comics, don't forget to check this out! An amazing variety of merchandise, I loved the cult movies section with merch from the movie Labyrinth.
S. P.
Must visit for anyone in London, there’s something for everyone.
Pros: Great variety of memorabilia, comics, graphic novels and easily accessible.
Cons: Upper market prices, but its to be expected with many of the collectibles.
Overall: 4/5
- July 2018

This place was really awesome! I love the people who are working in there, they were so nice and I want to go back again! As a weeb, I love the mangas and figures. I strongly recommend that you visit there. Best place ever!
E. G.
Very nice shop! Very well equipped! And surprisingly the prices are very reasonable. I just had one question about some "Anthem" Merchandise and the staff member said he had never heard of "Anthem". But I'm pretty sure they'll have some soon, and I was very pleased, so I'll be coming back.
C. s.
Lots of stuff related to comics, tv series and movies.
Prices are normal, nice staff.
A bit crowded.
M. R.
From Dr Who to Freddy Krugar huge selection of books, models, t-shirt and comics
H. T.
Great store but didnt have as much range of stock as I thought it would.
Prices fairly reasonable.
H. S.
They have everything you ever wanted and ever more. I was trying to leave this place after an hour, but failed. Very interesting place, you could not leave it without smth.
C. J. C.
Best place ever for film buffs, collectors, geeks, nerds and everybody in between
H. P.
The shop was quite busy, a lack of t-shirts and they were missing some book episodes so wasn't able to purchase what we wanted. Staff friendly and helpful.
C. B.
Nerd heaven. I'll always go in here if I'm passing by in the hope that I spend money on some extravagant gift (for myself) even though I shouldn't. Great selection of all merchandise and fantastic vibes from the store music from movie and video game soundtracks. Staff are always friendly and helpful. I hope this place stays open for eternity.
c. K.
Toys, lots of toys! Comics, more comics! Starwars! All kind of Starwars! Fantasy art books!! EPIC!!
A. R.
Still a really lovely place, it has definitely change with time and I have been coming here for very long time. Now there are loads of Pops everywhere, and if you don't care for them, it can he annoying to see them everywhere.
Boardgame section has increased nicely! Really good selection!
J. S.
A must for any superhero, comic, anime, manga, cult TV fan! They also have great selection of film/tv collectibles and merchandise. They hold regular events where you can meet authors or even film stars!
h. m.
Shop was great, products were great, prices were amazing and as a wheelchair user was also able to view all of the shop thanks to the lift and ramps however was difficult as was very busy will definitely will go again
K. W.
If someone is a fan of Harry Poter, this is the place for him... Lots of gadgets..
D. J.
Do you like the comics, manga, the merchandising and the action toys?
This is your place.
One of my favourite place to take all the geek material that I need in my life.
One floor just with action toys, funkos and a lot of collectible action figures.
And also a second floor when you can find all the manga, American comics and a lot of books about art in the video games.
I recommend go to this shop if you really liked all the geek culture.
S. S.
Always love coming to Forbidden Planet over and over again! Interesting window displays with tonnes of figures and replicas. Top floor for film/TV gifts and action figures, downstairs for comic books/books and games. Huge variety, but always popular and very busy.
T. L.
Absolutely brilliant place, been going there for years! Went today but couldn't find what I wanted, asked when it might be in and was advised not sure but they'd check and to call back when I got home as it'd take them a bit if time to find out. I called about 3.15pm and spoke to a lovely guy in the comic department who advised that they were having issues getting deliveries fro Japan on some of the Manga stuff and unfortunately not sure when it would be in store! I'm really impressed with the helpfulness and how polite and helpful the staff were! Very rate to get that sortbof service! Keep up the good work!
K. R.
Book and comics department downstairs is good. Collectibles section upstairs is a bit disappointing, although sometimes good buys can be found, or the occasional rare resin kit turns up.
H. S.
The best place to go if you like sci fi
L. H.
Visted a few times over the past year and it seems like they stock less and less items relating to shows I'm watching. A great place for comic book and manga fans, but outside of the books, the merchandise they stock seems to be more related to Harry Potter or Marvel.
T. O.
I had never been but it has a truly fantastic collection of manga, books, anime, collectables, comic books etc. Will highly recommend.
L. F.
Lots of products from all genres of nerdy goodness from comics to figures to cinema memorabilia
J. O.
Nerds galore! A superstore for nerds. Comics, graphic novels, books, collectibles, memorabilia, rarities, manga, rpg's and everything nerd! A shame there's not more rpg's :(
L. A.
A must visit for every geek, nerd or person who has watched TV or films, or played a game or read a comic or book! We visit every time we come to London which is a few times a year and we always leave with something. Mine is often a book and my partner usually buys a collectable edition of something (mostly the legend of Zelda orientated). My advice is go on your last day so you don't have to lug heavy purchases around.
Because its very popular, upstairs is a bit narrow but downstairs is much bigger so you can dodge people and peruse more leisurely. The only downside is there is no toilet which is a problem as we could easily spend a long time in there.
T.
The Best Store of Toys and stuffs Themes, just Perfect fo Star Wars Lovers,And Star Trek and General article's
M. W.
Love this place but is looking slightly depleted at the moment of stock. Great book/comic area downstairs as well...
H. A.
This store brings the 70s, 80s and 90s feeling of Comic Book Stores (in London)!
P. W.
Got location with a great selection of graphic novels etc etc. Shop looks tired could do with an update basement floor layout is a disappointment. Smelled like being in a sweaty gym.
S. K.
Huge. Very well payed out. Had everything you could imagine a pop culture store to have
N. P.
Great selection of comics que graphic novels. Always go for the sales section, there are some pretty nice.things there
O. S.
It's a very nice place. Compared to my first visit a few years ago, some items aren't there anymore but still got an amazing vibe. The queue wasn't too bad with social distancing and all. Highly recommended place to visit for manga, books, comics, toys, collectibles, etc.
A. A.
Great place equally for all ages who show their utmost love for anime, superheroes, comics and tv trivia.contain a great collection of collectibles that would catch your eye and leave you awestruck. To be honest i spend hours here.

M. K. J.
Fantastic place, very crowded but it's OK.
A lot of selection. Very nice place for all geek people or any other interested in it.
L. R.
Shop was a tad messy, but the selection was pretty good! Was looking for Avatar, Demon Slayer or Persona collectables and was very disappointed, but for Star Wars, Harry Potter, Marvel and Studio Ghibli fans it would be great!
F. A. Q.
Great place if you are a comics lover. There you will find an extensive variety of merchandise related with the comics world with great prices.

Really great place to find comics of all kinds also geeky merchandise and what your heart desires. They have a nice little curated board game shelve with some licensed geek games too.
f. j.
Two floor comic store ranging from small merch to books, comics and movies. Enjoyed Christmas sale, and prices were reasonable.
A.
It was huge absolutely massive but it was boiling! There couldn't have been air-conditioning it was way too hot
D. J.
We went in at 5.35pm so only had less than 30 minutes to get stuff as closes at 6pm. But to be fair if I had stayed any longer, I would have been bankrupt as there is so much cool stuff to buy here!! It's honestly any film/game geeks dream.
K. C.
Large comic and merchandise store. The basement was boiling which made it slightly uncomfortable and didn't want to stay too long but other than that it was great. Good selection of stuff with huge variety.
A.
I always love to go here when I visit London, just missing a tiny sitting area perhaps!
M. G.
Huge selection of sci-fi, fantasy, anime and manga books/films/gadgets and probably one of my favourite shops in London.

Great selection of movie, comics, books toys etc
G. D.

S. T.
Love this place, brings back so much childhood memories and of course current up to date Manga, DC, Marvel, Pop!, Anime etc...
Never get bored of this place. If you are a fan of comics, DC, Marvel etc... Really should visit
J. M.
Amazing selection of figures and comics, at extremely fair prices (imo), my only tiny nit pick is that its a bit hard to squeeze through the people, as the spaces between stalls are a bit small. :)
L. B.
It's the no1 place for anything geek and nerd related nearby coffee shops are filled with everyone excitedly chatting about their latest acquisition!
S.
If you like comics, superheroes, collectors item and Sc-fi stuffs, this is the best place to go in London!
D. h.
Quite good but customer service is low
What I mean is when you ask for something in the store they would not say directly where it is or ignore you other then that it is quite good
T. M.
A fantastic shop needs .ore space gets realy busy and people a bit to close for comfort viewing
J. F.
THE nerd Mecca for London!
I have been coming to FP since it opened in Denmark Street, before moving to New Oxford St and then to its current location. In days gone by, you could always …
K. M.
Loads of comics and collectable items

Good Store For Manga & Comics. Very Busy In There. Waited A While To Be Served. Definitely Get Here Before Midday
E. H.
Fabulouse place. All the quirky stuff my nerds love. The place to find what you cant find elsewhere. Staff are great and will help you find what you need. Reasonably priced.
P. D.
The most famous place in London for all of your anime merch.
N. S.
Lovely store with lots of comic, collectible and board game choice.
M. M.
My teenage children loved this shop. The highlight of their trip
D. W.
Loved it. Very busy but lots to see from comics/graphic novels to statues and other things! A must for any comic fan!
L.
It was a great experience visiting the store since it has one of the largest manga sections and pretty good sales for other merch. The queue outside wasn't too bad and moved quickly but if you want to explore the manga section in peace definitely don't go on the weekend 😂 it was really full (although the rest of the store was ok) and some of the shelves were completely empty since it had all sold out. Either way, it's really fun going there and taking advantage of all the great sales they have :) hopefully it's less busy on a Monday morning 🤞
M.
This store has it all. Comics, videogames, films, series, card games, anime, manga, fiction literature, posters. Anything geek related, you'll probably find here. There is a lot of figurines and merchandise on the ground floor and there is a massive basement filled with comics and books. I wandered around here for nearly an hour and still felt like I didn't see everything. It can be a bit on the pricy side unfortunately.
M. 1.
Great shop for collectors.plenty of stuff to buy but can get very busy. There is2 floors of collectable comics and figures
J. O.
so many people here bc everyone knows how good it is
3 for 2 deal on alot of books

R. C.
This is such an awesome shop. It has loads of fun things. A great place to geek out but a bit expensive
R. D. M.
A really good place to go if you are into Manga, board games, graphic novels, etc.
Friendly staff.
S. W.
Great selection of stuff, no better place to go for a selection of gaming/comic/TV related merch. Top floor is lots of merch and all downstairs is books and comics of every type.
S. N.
Excellent range of stock and you can find some real bargains. Sometimes a bit too busy, preventing you to get to the sections you want to.
y. G.
I really like it, you will find everything in one store, such as books, figures, comics, board games, etc.
V. F.
The mecca for geek in London. Whenever I go, I make sure I pop in. Bit messy downstairs but some nice bargains to be had. Wonderful array of figures, fair pricing.
C. D.
Lovely store but the most recent one way system doesn't work! Lots of pop vinyl at good prices
k. k.
This is a collector's dream shop.
The first floor is mainly for figurines and merch from different tv shows/anime/games, the bottom floor is filled with books, from mangas to graphic novels and more classical genres such as horror or science fiction.
I could easily lose myself for hours in there, however, keep note there is no internet reception ( it can be a bummer if you are looking up for a narrative or sequels of books)
S. B.
The place for every niche obsession. Only drawback is the space given to Pop Vinyl is enormous.
B. F.
It's a must visit place for any of you anime and comics lovers, this kind of place is hard to come by in my country so i envy you london people
R. M.
Fantastic store full of so much merchandise, models and books ranging across a wide variety of genres and films/TV. Definitely worth a visit!
b. g.
Was good but unfortunately out off the reach of kids and there pocket money it's great if you want statues but lacked on the toy front
J. P.
Excellent place to go if your a weeb and love manga, it's like a literal manga/anime heaven
M. S.
Into all things pop culture and retro so love this shop. Could spend a fortune in here.
K. M.
Toy selection upstairs seems to have gone down hill a bit, there isn't as much Japanese stuff anymore. The manga section downstairs still very strong though!
S. R.
For every nerd/geek, for a comic starter or a long collecter, this shop is 10 out of 10. A must see
J. S.
Wide range of great stuff! I always love a visit here!
C. B.
A lot of cool stuff to see if you are a Star Wars / Mandalorian fan!
D. H.

Z. S.
Staff always super helpful and always have everything I want in stock
L. B.
Amazing. All my comics and books in one place and the staff are really knowledgeable. Love the mail order service. Only wish they didn't put the signed sticker on the limited editions
L. B.
Nice place. for fans of manga and others, a lot of choice, although not all parts of some books were available.
p. w.
Great shop to visit especially if your into Sci fi, films etc. And a large store
B. F.
Nice store with good selection of books and community events!
K. F.
Awesome. Everyone was super nice. Could have hidden in stock to live there forever, jkjkjk. Lol.
R. T.
If you’re willing to spend a little bit extra on excellent nerd stuff, then this is the place for you. Can feel a little bit stuffy at times when it’s busy but that’s ok with me. Overall a great store.
P. M.
If this is your sort of thing/hobby this shop has everything you could possibly need, and if they havent got it the staff will do all they can to help you with everything.
A. S.
Manchester store is better - thought the capital would of been bigger, better and more organised
J. B.
So many items, from so many genres/franchises, I couldn't believe it. Something here for everyone. Don't forget to also check out their huge comic and board games section in the basement. A gem of a store.
S. C.
Nice store with good selection of different stuff from toys to manga, however, it is normally very crowded,
E. M. (.
Good organized and clean shop for nerds and booklovers. You can find alot of merch and books here. The prices are okay and they got sometimes really good deals.
J. S.
Very helpful staff, fun shop with lots of sci-fi memorabilia. Managed to get a sold out Hot Toy I was after :-)
B. S.
What a cracking store. Full of all manner of nerdy needs. Plenty of books, comics, collectibles and games from pretty much every major franchise there is.
J. G.
I really liked it in here, such an authentic experience. So many comics to choose from, anime box sets, games and more! I recommend to anyone who loves a good comic book store, and to everyone really, they have a little something for everyone. You won't be disappointed!!
M. L.
Good selection of produce for collectors however anime shelves nearly empty.
T. P.
I love it here so much! Every time I go into London I pay this store a visit, so much amazing merch!
J. A.
Amazing. Everything SciFi you can imagine. Loved it
D. P.
Nice stuff, great rangerange but pretty expensive imo.
D. W.
Great store, always visit when in London, though upon my most recent visit I felt as if stock levels were running low, as shelves were not full.
Z. K.
Prefect place to buy a present for a geek. Amazing what can you find here! I was a bit sad that you can only find merchandise, I wanted to see more books and comics.
L. N.
Lots of variety. If you are into Marvels, DC, anime, etc. then this place is a treat - a dreamland for you all! I felt like a kid again and it was nice to browse and see the figures, shirts and merchandise available. Safe place to visit as they have put in safety measures which is a plus!
A. G.
If you're a nerd/ geek like me, this is a good place
M. G.
A nice place for your inner geek kid. I would have loved it more if they have more merchandise for DC comics (batman especially).
L. G.
A great range of nerdy stuff covering every taste and don't miss the book section downstairs - taken us years before we realised it was there!
S. T.
A good selection of merchandise.
Busy at peak times.
Easily accessible from the tube.
D. O.
This place is as near to heaven as it gets! 5 Michellin stars - exquisite tastes!
M. G.
The best comic shop I've ever seen. Plenty of choice between the two floors. If you don't find something here you can't find it anywhere. Comic, novels, action figures, statues, gadget, tables games: just everything. AMAZING!
A. S.
I love this store, there are many treasures for just everyone. Minus one star only because the prices make many items and collectibles unapproachable.
R. P.
Me and my son love this place, so does my bank manager apparently !!
B. V.
Great store, but go to the basement for the real treasure. Too many Funko's at the ground level.
P. A. S.
Between Soho and Covent Garden, this huge store is the same name as the New York City store. I was looking for and found Star War and Wonder Woman items.
B. B.
Really cool geek spot!
I recently discovered this store from a friend while we went down to London to celebrate his birthday. I was pleasantly surprised by the downstairs area and the selection of comics and books they had in store. They also had really cool action figures on display to please every comic fan/anime fan around. I definitely recommend checking this place out!
T. T.
Rebooting my childhood memories..…
Remembered these guys after a throwback to when my older brother used to take me to his favourite comic shop in London as a child. I remember all the amazing toys from Star Trek and Star Wars, models and figures of some of the 18 rated sci fi movies that I wasn’t able to watch yet like Alien and Preditor. It became a place I always wanted to visit when I would stay with him as it helped set my imagination wild! Now years later just as he did I now also collect comics. Forbidden Planet are the best of the best, getting my packages through the post keeps the inner child in me alive! I look forward to one day bringing my children to the London megastore like I did at their age to inspire and amaze once again!
r. y.
This place is amazing for those who love comics! They are slightly expensive but have a lot of merchandise. It’s located in wonderful street where all the bars, restaurants and groceries are. On first floor, they have figures, small merchandise and tees. On down stair, they have comics and General books. As you enter this place you will see a lot of figures displaying and you are going to love it!

Too busy and chaotic for me but grandson loved it and found the item he wanted.

Great shop. Many books had store copies you could puruse before purchasing. A must for any geek.

Love this shop, a good range of nerdy items and fantastic selection of fantasy, scifi and graphic novels downstairs. I would really like the store to offer some form of wifi as there is no signal in the shop or downstairs in order to check my online book collection or transfer money to my account for paying via Google Pay. As far as I'm aware I've never found one to connect to and it has meant I sometimes don't pick up a book for fear of buying a second copy.
T. (.
Good amount of stock available but flow of the shop is tight when trying to look around. Staff very helpful tho

Paradise for everything geek related? Comic books, manga, animé, action figures, statues, board games. What have you. Truly a mecca for the casual and avid collector and player.
N. O. C.
My go to comic store even just to browse through the massive collection they have
N. D.
Clean and tidy with friendly staff, with a lift too.
M. O.
One of the best Comic and merchandise stores in Europe. Especially because they also sell variants, signed stuff and also DO signings.
T. P.
Always love visiting this store and trying not to overspend. Fantastic collection of figurines, comics, books and games.
A. D. M.
The store itself is very good and generally has updated stock levels of comics and collectables. The store location is ideal and in the heart of central London, which makes it good for a stop over if you're shopping in Oxford Street nearby.
The downside of this store is the customer service and in store staff. The majority of the staff working there seem to have a condescending manner and impolite tone when you interact with them. They come across as "snobbish geeks" who seem to think they are above the customers and fans shopping there , and that they are doing you a favour going into the store. More importantly they can get very rude on closing time, and are eager to chuck you out. They also have poor response and delivery online.
C. O.
Just go to admire the display wall in the entrance and drool over the 12" star wars figures. Look out for the sale rack by the counter ar the back. Don't forget the cavernous basement with its never ending selection of graphic novels, games and comics. A place of pilgrimage for real comic book and sci-fi aficionados.

This is a place for every grown adult and kids toy store to be! Prices are quite high but is expected with the products they sell! I come here every chance I can get! And if you're planning a visit be sure to bring your friends and relatives. Best store for comics collectors and collectors alike. Services is brilliant and friendly. Very helpful and would go the extra mile to find the item you want is in stock in the back.
Z. B.
Nice big shop, loads of stuff, helpful staff
I. H.
Amazing store for anybody interested in Comics & Games
m. a.
Good place for fans of almost anything.
Personally i could not find a lift but the store was full so not much room to move around.
M. A.
Friendly knowledgeable staff. Nearly all manga was going for 3 for 2 deals
C. J.
Brilliant, loads of toys and comics here I would not of found online or in other stores. Got some rather amazing finds in grab bags with values far beyond what I paid. One variant cover grab bag was 10 pound but have 70 quids worth of comics in it and 2 were signed!! Don't know if that's normal or I just got lucky.
Down sides.... We travelled a long way to this store, 200 miles from the south west of the UK. Expecting to find toys which where not in other toys which we did but... And this is a big but.... The prices are way off! Two items I went there for are normally 15 - 20 pound in other stores and even in B&M but her were nearly 40. The items can be brought on line for less than twenty from their own site.
That meant we just spent our cash on comics rather than toys. Will be going back to pick up the signed Neil Gaiman Sandman Overture Absolute edition. As this a beaut!!
R. O.
Great store! They have lots of choice, the store is quite deceiving from the outside as there is also a downstairs. The staff are very helpful and friendly. The place is usually packed on the weekends, but the wait for paying for your items isn't too bad. Overall, great place to buy your comics/memorabilia/clothing etc
R. A.
Always a joy, a visit my little slice of nerd heaven is a must
A. A.
Great place for comic book fans, gamers and geeks. Bought nice Overwatch hoodie and Pikachu socks. :)
m. a. R.
love the selection for art books💖💖💖
P.
Great selection of manga, going to this shop is for the experience
M. T.
The greatest comic book store ever. Sadly, they did not have the comic I was searching for.
J. C. K.
Good store for SF, fantasy and comic fans, but slightly disappointing (for me personally) that its current incarnation is very different from its earlier ones. Initially it was a science fiction bookshop with lots of hard-to-find imports and, to be fair, it does retain this aspect; however, its main thrust now seems to be memorabilia and comics. Nothing wrong with that in principle, just less to my taste. Fortunately, there is still a ton of rare stuff here, so don't let my slightly curmudgeonly view put you off: it's still worth a visit!
L. P.
Large store across two floors with lots of collectables on display in cabinets which for those interested creates a really nice place to visit for all things comics, movies, TV and games. The comics, graphic novels, fantasy books etc are located downstairs and they have a very large selection of signed editions. I cannot fault the content or layout of the store but the staff seem to be the stereotypical young, without social skills or knowledge. This isn't necessarily the worst thing as they weren't rude but when the nature of items means you can be spending a decent amount of money there it wouldn't hurt to have the sales team know what is going on and not feel like they're only there to put sales through the till a simple question about a book being in-stock left one of them asking for help and then a manager for another equally general question. Overall great store that's worth a visit though.
H. S.
If like me you love everything geeky then this is the place for you. Everything from key rings to signed books are available, and you'll find something on every shelf that will make you stop and look, so bring your cards with you. There's a basement area but this is accessible by either stairs or lift and there's a one way system in operation due to covid. The entrance is now around the back of the building which can result be missed
P. B.
It was very cool i like the display cabinets and friendly staff five stars from me
I. F.
This store a few years ago made me the cool Aunt so it holds a special place in my heart. If you are after any books, figures, tee shirts etc relating to manga, fantasy fiction comics etc this is the place to visit. They have a lift to the lower floor so access for the less mobile. Currently employing a one way system that means entrance is via the back door.
l. G.
Amazing. Boardgames collectibles obviously comics. If its on TV and has a fan base you'll find it hear....only thing id love to see hear is a second hand section/bord where they aloud individuals to advertise and sell or a coffee area. This would be great to get more people talking to each other and to learn more about comics than may not know of yet.
P. M.
I hadn't been to Forbidden Planet for a long while and found it interesting that the layout had changed from comics on the main floor and other items on the lower ground floor to the other way around, also it seemed like there were less comics, still plenty but less than my last visit. There were no queues to get in, we went on a week day and shortly after it opened, there was hand sanitiser at the entrance, there were a few people inside, it has a one way system and every one was following this, the general layout was good and they've got a lot of stock and there were staff in various points throughout the store.
A. M.
Best place to find all the characters I love
R. T.
My eldest love the visit to this famous store. Staff in the basement where very helpful and answered all his questions. We left very happy
J. M.
This shop a nice change of pace from the typical small, independent game / comic book / toy stores I'm used to. It had everything vaguely nerd-related I could think of and felt more accessible somehow than other stores. Obviously had a huge stock, but well organized and open space, as well as very knowledgeable and helpful staff. I could have spent hours here.
N. F.
Awesome place to find almost every sort of collectibles and items from your favourite games, shows etc.
T.
Love this place, have been visiting for years. A must for film and comic enthusiasts. There's a lot of memorabilia to collect for those with deep pockets.
Items are reasonably priced and have good sales selection too.
The store is always well stocked and easy to navigate through.
Staff are friendly and approachable. They certainly know their stuff. Definitely worth stopping by.
It is in a great location too!
s. c.
Lovely place for art books, comic books, anime, shirts, figurines and other collectables.
M. F.
I can’t believe I’ve never been here before. Such a great place.
R. M.
A must go to for all comic book, science fiction and fantasy fans. A vast range of books, merchandise and epherema. Geek heaven!
S. W.
Why do they close at 6PM on a weekday? Do they not want money from people working the day?
G. P.
Probably the best selection of manga in the UK! We visit here time and time again to stock up, and it still never gets boring. There's so much to see, and always go away thinking of all the glorious toys and comics that might be on the next visit!
J. H.
Great place, full of figurines, blush toys, board games, comic books and gadgets of several world famous IPs such as Star Wars, Marvel and DC. Much, much more in the store.
Note that the store is quite big and there's usually a lot of people there. So reserve a good one hour for the visit.
F. F.
Always like a visit to see what they have picked up a few bits in the sale.
D. D.
Fantastic customer services. I originally purchased my Marvel comics from Forbidden Planet back in 1978, and it's now my sons favourite shop. Kudos to all the Fobibben Planet staff for their friendly and informative advice...🙂
K. K.
The big brand store for geekery. Always fun and nostalgic but does make my wallet weep.
R. L.
I been visiting Forbidden Planet since the 90s. It has move a couple a times, but this is the largest venue they have occupied. You fine all your geeky stuff here, from movie memorabilia, books, figures and comics. It's get very busy with many people from all the world.
C. L.
I went in with my 8 year old son so he could pick out a reward for being a generally super kid.
The people who work here were not just helpful, but really great with my son. They didn't just do their jobs, they added a lot extra.
R. K.
Great place to look for comic related merch ,
N. C.
It's very messy on the top floor, not dirty I mean products are all over the place. No obviously set sections for each movie or comic merchandise. It's like a jumble sale & apart from the see through cabinet with all the models in along the left wall as you walk in & none of the displays draw you in & look cohesive. We ended up walking past a lot without looking well as it just looked messy. Downstairs with books & graphic novels etc is laid out much better. Spent most of the time down there.
J. R.
It's a must visit if you are into comics! Lot of cool stuff, took me more than an hour to browse. If you are looking at buying some quirky collectibles other than usual London souvenirs, this is a great place!
P. D. G.
Best mangas and comics shop in London. Huge variety and very friendly customer service.
A. N.
Overall have a wide selection of manga and comics to read in thr lower section with quite a few collectibles but they oose a star from me for not having new Gundam stock as its been the same for quite a bit of time now. On the plus side they offer a 10% student discount for anyone interested in buying from them
V. M.
A must visit every time I go for a walk around London town.
A. S.
The best place in London to get all our geeky goods!
L.
The store was good. I had an amazing time exploring it. With a book signing going on at the time, it was also an amazing opportunity to get a signed book from your favourite artists. I do find that the store has leaned aggressively towards more pop culture items though. There was more super hero merch than there was anything else. I'm sure that that's because it's just the stuff that sells well, but if you're not a massive fan of super heroes, you might struggle to find an item that caters to your taste. This wouldn't stop me from recommending people to visit this store though.
S. C.
It is very good for buying comics and graphic novels. But apart from that there is not much to look at. It is not as it used to be like in late 80s & 90s. There used to be lots of Anime and other model kits you could buy and figures. Now it's full of Harry Potter and pop figures.
But the downstairs is cool.
S. H.
How can no-one not love this place I love my comic and film memorabilia and can't better than Forbidden Planet, I normally go to the Birmingham branch but every trip to London brings me here.
m. a.
Great selection of manga and comic based items checkout line is very fast even when it's long and product prices are easily identifiable.
M. O.
Very busy flagship store. I like the range of merchandise and goods they sell. They have an appropriate amount of tills and staff I thought. Crowd control can be nonexistent at times but with the limitations of the space I can understand that.
Generally very clean and stocked up well. You can find variants of anything here. They have a very impressive downstairs area featuring comics, manga and books of interest. Upstairs is more general stock. There are a lot of London Forbidden Planet exclusives here which is nice as it gives a purpose to collect.
E. V. I.
Good store but prices are pretty high.
J. C.
Cool store for collectibles and books. Easy location to get to and not over priced.
K. R.
Good if you like all that stuff and more!
D. C.
So much fun looking at all the amazing books and figures
C. P.
Well stocked book and comic shop.
S. B.
You can spend hours looking for your comics, find new piece of art for a decent price
A. Z.
A very large store with lots of.comics. My oldest son loved it
F. H.
Unbelievable range of products in this store. It took every ounce of my self control not to fill my bags for the flight back.
D. N.
Being going here since the first store, still the best 😎👍🏻
I. W.
Great stock of comics, collectibles, clothes and books
R. L.
The Forbidden Planet Megastore in London is a fantastic place to find all the best film, series, comic book heroes/heroines merchandise from actual comics and books to figures and accessories to Trading cards and stationery to purses/wallets and rucksacks/handbags.
All of the staff are knowledgeable about their given sections and are always happy to help you find what you are looking for.
If they don't have what you want in store then they will take the time to help you find if/when they are going to receive more stock.
You can lost in the book section as they have such a variety of different genres by so many different authors, which to me is always a bonus and a surprise in a merchandise shop.
They also change their window displays regularly so that you will most likely see something that you have to get, that you did not know existed before you saw it in the window.
p.
Great manga collection figures very high quality for a reasonable price
P. T.
Superb store with lots of interesting items
M. M.
Great manga store great collection good 3 for 2 deals
L. H.
Incredible range of products in this huuuge place!
B. S.
Truly a Geek's true paradise! So much there I wanted to buy it was hard to limit myself. If you are a collector of anything geeky related then I highly recommend checking this place out. You will love it!
J. M.
Great place for merchandise and collectors items, especially if you need to buy gifts for someone who is really into the genre. The store is quite compact considering the location. The variety is quite good, although I would think they have a lot more game of thrones stuff considering all the hype.
P. J.
An absolute must for pop culture fans, it has an impressive selection of...everything! (especially books/comics/graphic novels)
E. S.
Great shop and great selection of comics and memorabilia. Be prepared-models vary in price from reasonable to very expensive.
