Wow, what an amazing shop! It is so big and with such a massive variety (over 4 aisles just for different brushes!), So many brands and sizes of paints to choose from... A total treasure trove!

The best art store in London! The amount and variety of art materials in a healthy wide price range makes it a joy to shop for anyone from hobbyists to professionals, but my favourite factor is how welcoming GreatArt are to their customers. Just their doodle corner with a free coffee machine is such a lovely spot to sit and try out art materials, but most of all I love it that they host regular free workshops and artist residencies multiple times a week! Brilliant art stores shop full of every art material you can think of. Good selection of spray paints too, much to my delight. Very well stocked for paints and other medium such as resins, guilding, sculpture material and tools and much besides. It also has framing services in the basement and wide selection of frames and canvases. No public toilet unfortunately, closed during Pandemic. This shop is an alladins cave for artists and creatives......you can't walk out without buying something.

There was a strange dynamic when I entered this building. An assistant started following me around, assumedly desperate to serve, but he just made me feel like he was watching me suspiciously as he never once actually attempted to speak to me. I found what I was looking for myself (a sketch pad and a pencil set) among their abundance of options. Now to decide what to sketch!

“Great Art” is my favourite. The best art shop in London where you can find all types of art tools and equipment with a wide variety of brands and prices. Communication hasn't been great, called about an item, was meant to arrive weeks ago but still nothing, I have a commission I was meant to start ages ago, thankfully the client is patient but I don't like to keep people waiting. Was told they would get back to me regarding my item as their system was down but didn't hear anything back from them. Would be nice to get some form of tracking information. Thinking of getting a refund, In the future I might look elsewhere for specific items.

A fair, fair-priced outfit who seem to be keen to accommodate. Good range of materials. UK-based. However, lost two stars as the order took five weeks to arrive. The painting products are excellent to use, whenever they do arrive eventually. Prices are affordable and reasonable. However, I would not recommend ordering any equipment online , as I think it is better to actually go to the Great Art store in person than anything. There are so many delays in regards to your order , even though they claim that they will send you across a tracking number for the DHL delivery. But in actuality they never do. So please avoid as much as you can. The customer service is mainly an average experience to say the least , they are late to reply to your inquiry and sometimes avoid certain questions. That you ask about , which is not helpful or constructive enough. To say they have reassure you and been supportive about you. Payment is another issue , where there are so many errors in when the funds have been transferred from your account but then in reality have been pending for longer than the time ordered your art equipment set. This is very disappointing to say the least and emotional exhausting. I would say it again, do not order from this store online. Only if you have the patience and a lot of spare time to make up for your college art or university deadlines. Due to how the pandemic and Brexit as impacted them , and everyone else. I think it is the safest option to try and see other places , like Hobby-craft

New update 11/02/2021 I have finally managed to speak to someone so have changed my rating from 1 star to 4. Having spoken to a very helpful customer services agent, I now know that the stock is coming from abroad. Which is why there is no click and collect from the shop. This also gives better insight into what is happening with shipment and even got a breakdown of my parcel's journey. It goes without saying, however, that more communication from GreatArt would be appreciated and indeed would likely calm us all down a little. ............................................................................... I would have given zero if I could too. I've been waiting for two weeks for my parcel, despite paying for postage (I live maybe a mile from the shop, but no click and collect). No answer on the phones, 'please leave a message' well, you can't because the answering machine is full. Clearly they don't listen to the messages... And now people are saying they get no reply to emails either. Update 11/02/2021 Having still had no response, I have doubled checked my account. You took my money on the 28th of January 2021 and as of today still no stationery. The tracking link on my account doesn't work, it just refreshes the page. I bought from you because I didn't want to use Amazon. As it goes, no other company I have used has had these issues you are purporting. (Items arrived from Glasgow in less than a week).

Love the Vernissage oil colours, and the other amazing variety of material , great prices no doubt. However Terrible online customer service and shocking delivery system. I have been waiting for my order for 10 working days now and nothing is delivered l, called and emailed for an update and nothing happened not even a reply of receipt. I have only ever ordered online so cannot speak about in-store. I have ordered from here for a few years now and I have never been unhappy with them. Delivery is made in good time. Always send correct products. Reasonably priced considering they are in London. The only thing that I can fault them for is ordering stones etc, it looks online like you get 5 - 15kg for a certain amount of money. You don't. It means it costs that amount for each kg up 15kg. All in all I'm really happy with them.

I don't do many reviews, but wanted to for this place. I needed a frame for a print of a friend's drawing I got from opposite this shop (theprintspace - highly recommend). The guy downstairs, Darek, was just excellent. Helped with choosing the mount (discounted!) and frame, and also put it together for me, and it looked ace. Frame and mount were £24. Boom. Cheers Darek! Great shop, will go back for paper and linocut paints.

I love perusing the Great Art catalogue. I am disabled and find it great fun looking at all the various products. This time it was palette knives and the unusual shaped ones. Very slow to send materials ordered and do not respond to their answer machine messages. Since posting this review, I have now received my order and a reply to my email from the customer service department. I have spoken to Luke who responded to my phone messages and he was very apologetic. He explained that due to COVID and Brexit they were struggling with logistics and increased demand for products. The apology and finally being able to speak to a real person has made me review my review and have given them 3 stars as opposed to 1 in the beginning. If you need supplies urgently, I would check how long it will be before ordering.

The equivalent of a child in a toy store, for artists. Great Art is a shop stocked with everything any artist could need. Two floors of heavenly artist materials, of every kind. The staff are helpful (Luke thank you), and our Art Club visit was welcomed warmly. Free refreshments and welfare facilities to boot made this even better. I wholeheartedly recommend visiting this treasure of a shop.

Not impressed. I was particularly interested in the Copic range. It turned out some copic markers are actually more expensive in-store than when ordered from their online site. Also, the topic link refills are apparently just available online which us another inconvenience as they take ages to send you your package (8 days on average) even when you live in London and they charge for delivery which is a bummer as I live 20min walk from the shop and instead of spending 45min walking to the shop to buy them in store (where they're NOT available), I'd have order them online, pay for delivery and wait for them for 8 days. Pretty lousy!

They have everything you need from top end to more reasonable prices. You can get great canvases for great prices and the framing section is good too! Can't rave about it enough. Love them.

We were really impressed by Darek who was exceptionally helpful and one of the reasons we keep coming back.The only thing I would say is that the framing table should be kept completely clear when framing is taking place. Another member of staff kept coming along to cut signs on the table once when we were there which was a bit annoying.

I live miles from any artists' suppliers of any sort, even W.H. Smith's.... With GreatArt I can have the best of all worlds. It's lovely to have such a huge range of materials available to me, living here in Mid-Wales where there are scenes that cry out to be painted: but not much to paint on or with!

Great Art is a huge art supplies store. You can find all kinds of things there. If needed, it is worthwhile to check there first and see other places later. They also have a sweet doodling corner with hot drinks and view over the street outside.

First time was great and they were all so welcoming and helpful and I was really looking forward to returning today to properly look around. Still a great shop but I think I'll use their click and collect system in future as today's visit I spent being trailed by their new security guard who clearly thought I looked suspicious as well as several members of staff who didn't ask if I needed help but several times trailed me around the shop. It was a hot day today and I walked from home to the shop so maybe looking hot and sweaty is suspicious or something.

First time ordering. Took about over a week to come - granted the situation so I didnt mind waiting. I was a little disappointed with the colour mixing however. 3/5 were good but the other two were not the colours i expected. I ordered Raw umber and Fluorescent green. Raw umber,instead of it having a khaki tint ....is just brown. The Fluorescent green is just neon green - and it should of had a tint of Olive colour to balance it out. Good paint pigmentation !

What brings me to review, is that tonight, I attended the Collage Club workshop, we got to sample MT masking tape, and get creative. I’ve been buying my art materials online from GreatArt for about eight years and so of course, when I was visiting a friend in London last week, I had to go and see the new store in Shoreditch. I was like a kid in a candy store! The space is absolutely huge and the variety of materials is vast. The staff were very friendly and helpful and it was nice to be able to chat with them about the different materials that I don’t normally buy as I tend to stick to what I know. There is even a cool customer seating area to sit down at and have a complimentary coffee or tea while you flip through the catalogue. I only wish GreatArt would open up something similar in Edinburgh. A definite must visit for any art enthusiast from beginner to professional.

A massive store with two floors and such a huge range of items and seems often to be the cheapest too. I don’t know any other place that does such a big variety of art products, from the usual painting and canvases to etching plates, stone carving, and other model making things. The GreatArt range is a great option for students too.

I attended an event at Great Art this evening hosted by AaronJacobJones which was incredible. We were taught how to use watercolor paint in a fluid contemporary fashion, mostly for the purpose of life drawing. What I learnt will help me to transform my work. Aaron gave us tips on kit and techniques and we had a life model who posed for us so we could practice our new skills. The staff at the shop were all knowledgeable and helpful. Materials and the course were free. I had never been to Great Art before but I’ll definitely use them for my art materials in the future. They stocked all my favourite brands and were really well priced. I’ll be sure to keep an eye out for future live events.

A huge shop with a great variety of art materials and accessories across different disciplines that are well laid out so that it is easy to locate your usual requirements but also to discover something new to be tempted by too. I went into this store today to buy a portfolio folder for my exhibition. I went downstairs where I met a member of staff Derek. I asked Derek for some card to cover my prints. He was interested in my prints and asked to see them. He made suggestions on how I can mount the prints and brought over the possible options. Derek kindly helped me mount my prints in the store. I was amazed at the level of helpfulness from him. He paid attention to every detail of my work. He delivered the best customer service I have ever experienced in my whole life. I took an art journalling workshop here with M.E. The class was really informative, hands-on, lots of fun and very accessible to someone like me — I'm not an artist but wanted to give it a go. M.E. showed us lots of different painting, stencilling, collage and transfer techniques and was helpful and attentive throughout the whole afternoon. They also have a seating area with refreshments for if you need a break (or to play around with your new purchases). I used to spend a lot of money in this place, in fact I had been buying my supplies from here regularly since it had opened. Choosing to spend here rather than Cass Art. A major draw had been the discount offered to me when I started shopping there, it can be an expensive endeavour to create art and the discount was a welcome bonus. I however went recently to purchase some supplies and gave my surname as I usually do when I get to the till and was told matter of factly that I no longer had a discount with them and they had wiped a number of customers off. I'd like to live in here. Such big and full of choice. This is the better fine art shop i've found so far in London. Prices are super affordable. Youcan even find some expencive and delicate stuff. I'd like to see little more smiles from some of the staff but hey that place must be hard to manage! What's important is the great range of materials they have (also think someone of the guys know very well all of the stock so ask ask ask)!!! Go check !!! Having worked with GreatArt online for ages, it was great to be able to visit their first UK store yesterday....it is huge, and so exciting to see such a fantastic range of art materials and products! A whole aisle of paints, fantastic choice of brushes, markers, pastels, sketchbooks and much more- even really hard to find things like large format papers in rolls, canvases in pretty much every size you can think of, stone for carving and pure pigments for blending your own colours. Hip Hoxton just got Hipper. Went to the new GreatArt shop in Shoreditch today. Would have been scarily easy to spend hundreds of pounds in a well-laid out Aladdin's Cave of materials, both familiar and undiscovered. I've been using GreatArt Online for years now, so I know their prices are extremely competitive and their range comparable with the best online art suppliers, but sometimes it feels risky to try a new technique/brush/material/support from just a virtual image and description, so I really appreciated being able to test the spring of the Da Vinci Forte brush, compare the different nibs on Graphix pens, choose the perfect piece of soapstone and get some advice on the right lacquer for gilding. The staff are friendly and available, and happy to do research to help make the right choices. All in all, a great place to be inspired...
