This is a really good shop. Lots of interesting things and plenty of clothes to choose from. They have far more antiques, pictures and vintage objects than any other store I've visited. I pop in at least once a week. I've always found the staff to be polite and friendly. The manager clearly has a 'good eye' for design and display. The shop window is usually really well done and it adds to the attractiveness of the area. Lots of locals support the shop with donations and I think that is partly because they are keen to support the children in the hospice but also because they know that their donations will be properly appreciated and valued. In the past I gave a nice pair of watercolours to another shop (worth about £80 to £100 at auction) only to find them priced at £1.50 each! I bought them back and gave them to this shop where they were sold for about £70. You are highly unlikely to find a silver teapot for a pound here but you will find a good range of very buyable items all priced to sell quickly - which they usually do! Especially the gorgeous painted furniture which the manager occasionally produces himself. I have never arrived at the shop to find it closed but even charity shop staff must be allowed lunch/coffee or loo breaks, mustn't they? The staff sometimes have to deal with really difficult 'custmers' - including shoplifters, drunks, people with complex needs and even plainly obnoxious snobs etc etc but they seem to treat them well. I couldn't do it. I think that the staff deserve praise for supporting the children so well - they clearly aren't doing it for the money!

The shop manager is and has always been accommodating to all who visit the shop, and he will always go that extra mile. He takes great pride in displaying the goods, and carefully selects items for sale, and of course how the shop is presented. For the discerning shopper there is always a gem to find on the rails. The items are carefully selected, by the manager and his team, -- from designer pieces, to vintage, from a fabulous display of pictures and quirky brica. I've found many a gem and enjoy wearing my pre-loved and now re-loved pieces. I always get a great thrill when asked where I got it from, it gives me great pride to say Haven House at Crouch End. The manager and his team, please keep up the fantastic service in the shop that you all provide for the crouch end community ..

If you miss the shop sign you wouldn't think it is a charity shop, and you are in for a treat. It is definitely one to keep an eye on, not to miss out on quirky and carefully picked items. Having lost our antique shop this is a good substitute with quality artworks and antiques along with everything else. Bought a couple of paintings with confidence after having a knowledgeable brief. Hats off for a charming and smart manager.

I do not feel that the review by Alex gives a fair and true picture. I shop in most of the charity shops in Crouch End and was a regular at the Haven House shop. I must say that I was so impressed by the shop and the managers that I volunteered to work there. In my time there I have only ever seen the hard work and dedication that goes on and certainly no displays of arrogance. If taking pride in the way the shop is run and taking ‘ownership’ to make sure it does well for the charity is an arrogance then I suspect there are a lot more managers out there that would be guilty of that crime!

I love going to this charity shop and it's my favourite in the area. It always displays the items beautifully and the staff are always friendly and courteous. You can find some real treasures.

Charity shoppers are spoiled for choice, but this is one of the nicest. Always really lovely stock, good prices and definitely worth a visit even if you don't normally do charity shops.
