Great place to studying. Free access to all UoL students. Very warm in winter.

It is a beautiful library with many places to study, there's an open reading hall or you can get lost in the maze of bookshelves and hide I'm many other desks around the 4 - 7 floor.

A brilliant and classical library hidden in the Senate house building University of London. Good place to go and good environment to study. University of London students can get a free library card to access.

Great place to study.

My most favourite library in London.
Beautiful exteriors and interiors, including original period brass fixtures and fittings, marble cladding and oak-strip flooring in the main reading rooms.

Fantastic history and great library's.

Great atmosphere for getting some work done. Plugs can sometimes be hard to find and so can a desk, but if you're there early it shouldn't be a problem.

If you're a University of London student, make the most of your free membership to Senate House and get down here as often as you can!
In all honesty, this place got me through my undergraduate degree. My university's library was over an hour away from my house, was always packed and had so many silly, impractical rules. So I would make the shorter journey to Senate House to use its library instead.
The library is huge but it still has a quaint, old-fashioned and very English aesthetic, and an atmosphere that is very welcoming and cosy. Students are really nice and know how to behave, and the library workers are SO kind. I lost my card on the premises in a very ridiculous and almost unbelievable way but they immediately gave me a replacement for free.
There is also a variety of seating styles to accommodate all kinds of students. If you're in a group, you can go to the big rooms with sofas to relax as you revise. Also on the first floor of the library, there are large study halls with big tables. However as I'm extremely antisocial, I preferred going up the thin little staircases (the lift doesn't go up there) all the way to the top floor, where all the books are, to sit alone on one of those little single-person desks. I wrote most of my dissertation like that, nestled comfortably between the dusty old bookshelves. It soon became a second home to me.
The resources were invaluable, the book-locating system is very clear and I frequently borrowed a wide range of texts over the year (I'm pretty sure this is why I did so well in my dissertation!)
You can't eat in the library and hot drinks aren't allowed (well, it really depends on if the security guard is there or not and how sneaky you are) but it's cool to have a break and get some fresh air anyway. The only downside I would say is that there aren't enough bathrooms around, so if I want to go to the loo and I was alone, I would have to trust a stranger with my possessions and rush all the way there and back again. But other than that, this place is amazing.
I'm very glad I'm doing a Masters now and I plan on making the most of this amazing place for another year!
