Reviews of Northamptonshire Central Library

I love the central library and the staff always friendly& patient; but sometimes it is hard to find specific books in the children section; for example poetry today... was a mission. With not much success.

Incredibly helpful. They have no end of different functions and undertake every thing in the most pleasant and helpful manner. I'd like to thank them for their help.

Really good. Unfortunately still not allowed to enter. The staff member looked after me collected the books I was returning and gave me more to take away. I am entirely satisfied with the service provided

I do like the library it's a nice place to go and do some quite studying. Though they lack a lot of descent study books, most of them are 10 to 20 years out of date. If you need to study something your better off buying an indate second hand book off eBay and keeping it. Just be aware though that a lot of homeless people come in to get out of the rain. I can stand the smell but other members of the public can not. They do ask them to leave though if they course a nonses.

The library is situated in the upper part of town. A very spacious area it offers a lot of seating and is very quiet l.
Although at times there is a nursey at the back of the library on the main floor which can be extremely noisy.

Visited the library from the UON. Excellent place to visit specially the basement archive. Wealth of social history documents all secondary and primay sources. John Clare and Charles Bradlaughs collections were mind bogling to say the least. The newspaper dating back to 1720s and the early date voter list from the very first census of 1801 was an eye opener. How the people were allowed to vote and knowledge of electuion bribery and corruption in those days were amazing to know. Very Hospitalble staff and the briefing by the librarian was fascinating. Thank you all. You do an excellent work.

The ravages of under-funding are really starting to show. What used to be a packed out library is getting more sparse by the week. Save our libraries!
