Reviews of Aldens Fishmarket & Restaurant

One of the best place in oxford for fresh fish. Really clean , and friendly staff , where you can find also vegetables, fruits and bread. The quality of the products is amazing, it's almost impossible to find it in Oxford. Prices are higher than other places, but it's normal to be like this, because here you're buying quality not quantity.

A great place in Oxford to buy some really good and fresh fish. Not many stores in Oxford have so many fish under one roof - salmon, tuna, trout, bass, halibut, bream, mackerel, etc.
They also sell squids, mussels, prawns (many types of them) and crabs. You can also find sea weed, smoked fish, canned items, frozen and processed fish in the store.
On the first floor, there is a bistro that serves really good fish & chips. Right now, the bistro is open only 2 days a week (Friday and Saturday) from 11:30 to 2:30 pm, but is worth visiting for anyone looking for a good fish & chips (in addition to fresh fish sold in the shop).

I get my lunch here sometimes at Work and the fish is absolutely amazing!

Always have a good selection but getting there early in the morning is best to avoid disappointment. Staff are helpful and prepared octopus for us free of charge as well as offering advice on how to prepare. Prices are good, and everything looks fresh and clean.

Excellent range of fresh fish here, filleted or whole, as well as a large range of smoked, pickled or frozen seafood. This is the best fish market in Oxford! What’s more, there is a small eatery upstairs, very simple, but so delicious. Daily menus and fish and chips on Fridays. Must visit for seafood lovers!

Incredible fish shop offer with well over 100 varieties of fresh water fish, seafood and crustaceans. Great offering of smoked fish. Some amazing wines and condiments. Even a chance to try the fish in a ‘concept’ kitchen where the fishmongers prepare fish showing how easy it is the prepare wonderful fish.

The store is divided into two floors with a seafood shop on the ground floor, and a dining room upstairs.
My rating is based on the cooked food available upstairs which I thought was exceptional for the price. The menu is just a few choices, which I prefer as it usually means it's based on seasonality and the availability of produce that day. Pay downstairs in the shop and hand your ticket to the chef upstairs who will prepare it for you in short order.
The seabass was cooked perfectly with accompanying items that complimented it nicely. The setting is more functional than anything but perfectly fine for a quick spot of lunch.
As an aside, the shop downstairs looked well stocked with a good range of fresh and frozen items which were keenly priced.
One of Oxford's better kept food secrets!

It's a treasure in Oxford city Centre. There is a wide variety of frozen molluscs🍤 available. Free-range fish is also available although sometimes in restricted quantities/variety. Their restaurant with fish and chips 🍟to take away is a great asset.

Great choice of produce and seems constantly expanding. We've been buying here for years and always had fresh fish. However, on one occasion smoked salmon I bought was off ,but it would not be a reason for me to avoid, as some suggested (although it was annoying at the time.)

We haven't been to the restaurant for ages but the fish shop is superb. Very fresh fish and seafood and much of it gutted and filleted for you on the spot. Very professional staff and interesting sauces and some very fresh veg too.
