This place was like a treasure chest! So many books crammed into a three story building! Ou have to leave your bags down stairs but to be honest there’s not that much space in between the book shelves so was fine. The owner was very chatty and happy to provide names of other authors he thought I would be interested in.

Oh my, you will love this place. Massive stock snd enthusiastic and knowledgeable proprietor. We were made most welcome. We were told where to look for what we wanted. "There is a lot more in our warehouse" was a call often said. People like this need to be cherished and supported. Please do. We will. Delightfull. Thank you.

3 floors of rare or unusual books! Personally, this was the highlight of Plymouth for me. City is a bit underwhelming so this saved it for me. All 3 of us left with a book (or 3!)

It's run by a mad old Scot who is forever happy to exchange friendly abuse with regulars even after years between visits and it's got a fantastic selection of all sorts of wonderful books, many of which you can actually see on the shelves when they're not living in stacked boxes.
Edit: In two years of Covid, nothing has changed except that the abuse has gotten friendlier. Seriously, what the hell is wrong with some people who can't handle a bit of banter

We never leave empty handed, it's always a great adventure discovering books here

I live abroad but am a Plymouth native. Every time I return I come here. It's a great old-fashioned bookstore with a really friendly and knowledgeable owner.

Dangerous place! This is a true 'L' space, Terry Pratchett says all libraries, bookshops are connected by time and space...L space.... This is one of 'those' bookshops. It's just possible to you would be advised to take a ball of string and a sandwich lunch. I found 'everything' I had ever wondered about. Over 3 floors this old customs house, has a spiral staircase all the way up. Fact, fiction, fantasy, your childhood books, and your great grandfather's too. Harry Potter is here, 1st floor, straightforward from the stairs to the children's corner. Wow!

A treasure chest! 2-3 floors jam packed with books of all kinds. A nice mix of newer books and very cool old titles/editions. The kind of place you can get lost in! Run by a friendly gentlemen who is a retired Royal Marine. Definitely recommend stopping in!

Lovely book shop!

This was a pleasant surprise. Didn't think these second hand bookshops still existed. Excellent stock of books and was even more surprised to learn that the shop has 15x more books out of shop. And great service. Highly recommended.

This is a great secondhand book shop with a big selection and really helpful staff. I went in looking for a book which I couldn't remember the name of, and they were able to track it down for me incredibly quickly!
Naturally can't guarantee that they'll have what you're looking for, but you'll probably find some treasures whilst browsing.

Was very impressed with the selection of books here. A real aladdins cave of a place. The gentleman who served me was very helpful and down to earth, and was happy to answer the questions I had to ask the also have a form you can fill out and they'll get in touch with you if they get something your looking for. Would happily spend my money there over some of the other places in Plymouth

"A," the ex marine, and the elderly lady who also sits there are both extremely decent folk, but beware those who are not serious bookers. Always found them to be most helpful and knowledgable. Love going in to browse.

It's a treasure trove. A nostalgic delight for bibliophiles of a certain age, particularly. Everything you remember from the 50s and 60s, and before and everyone you've neb
