I have been blown away by the customer service provided by Barkley since taking over the shop. I have made my own gun with his advice and help. He sourced components that suited my needs and nothing was too much trouble. I have also upgraded most of my gear this year. Changing from plastic fins to the Start Point carbon fins has made a world of difference to my diving. They are fantastic. My last purchase was a 7mm Start Point top. I am happy to say I can now dive mid November in complete comfort. The fit is excellent and the build quality is superb. Thank you for all your help and enthusiasm. I thoroughly recommend anyone who loves spearfishing to give the shop a visit. Laurence

The guys at Star Point are very helpful, knowledgeable and well experienced with anything spearfishing. Definitely a place to contact or visit if you are just getting started or have years of experience. Barcley very politely made me aware how my old, heavy plastic / rubber fin's had seen better day's. He showed me more current options and I was very pleased to find that he had my size made-up in stock of their own custom made carbon fibre fin's ready to go (normally assembled / bonded to order by Joe in a couple of days). I have found these carbon fin's to be a real game changer, so comfortable to wear and powerful in the water, and considerably cheaper than the branded carbon's, definitely would recommend them 🤿

Having snorkelled and dived when younger, I recently became interested in spearfishing and coastal foraging. I went to Startpoint with a “I need pretty much everything to get me going” approach. Barcley, Joe and team spent a great deal of time taking me through everything with solid practical advice at every point and never treated me like the spearo-kook that I felt like. In particular, at no stage did they upsell or try to get me to spend more than I’d budgeted for. If anything, they would temper my new-found enthusiasm with “you probably don’t need that at this stage” and also offered a discounted package for what I did buy. I enjoyed an amazing guided day with Joe, and am now passionate, if still pretty novice, about the sport. The inclusive approach has made me feel like I’ve joined a friendly club rather than become a new customer. There is nowhere else I’ll be going when I do need to replace or upgrade my kit. Top recommendation.

Visited this store in late November 2021 to collect an order of Beuchat carbon fins (upgrade from £10 Cressi Pluma!) and a filleting knife. Also walked out with a mask and almost a Beuchat bag, new speargun, wetsuit, and a ton of other equipment! Super friendly staff! Talked with Joe on the phone about the order and spoke with Mark on day of collection. Both very knowledgeable about the sport ( not surprised :D ). Many thanks! I'll be back for the Beuchat bag one day... Would be cool if you guys would offer some spearfishing trips/tasters or something along those lines! Would recommend to anyone! Friendly, efficient and personal. I was given a kit bag as a gift which was purchased from the store before Christmas. A few months later I noticed the product had a manufacturing fault with the stitching and needed to be returned. Unfortunately, my receipt had been lost, however the team were very responsive and were able to track down the order and replace the bag promptly. Along with the replacement bag, I received a handwritten note and a gift as an apology for the inconvenience. Really nice touch!
