Beautiful store with food, drinks, books and much more!!

This is probably one of the best Waterstones in the South West. Each section has a large collection of books, along with board games and other various stationary items. The staff are nice and you don't usually have to wait long to queue. The store is nice and central so perfect to stop in if you're heading to the train station. Has a cafe too!

Went in to try and find 3 books for my daughter for Xmas. A female member of staff came up to me and asked if I needed any help. I showed her a list of the books I was after, and she promptly went and found them all for me. Very nice, helpful, friendly lady. Will definitely recommend going here.

Great for browsing books. The shop layout is nice and well thought out. I always go to the latest release section, on the left as you enter, and nearly always find a book I later buy on Audible: sorry Waterstones printed books are too cumbersome to carry around!

Very helpful staff. I couldn't find a book I wanted. It was a only a few days before Christmas and the shop was packed. But I also couldn't remember the author's name or the precise title. After a brief description to a member of staff 4 mins later the book was in my hand.

Who doesn't love about a great bookshop? Waterstones do it well here. Lots of things to explore, books laid out really well with recommendations from staff. There are places to sit down and look at what you're thinking about buying. Very child friendly with lots of kids engaging with the childrens book section in a very positive way. We always stop in with our 7 year old when we're in Plymouth shopping and she has developed a real love of books from it.

They didn't have the book I wanted but did offer to order it and I didn't have to purchase it, I could just look at it first. I declined as it would mean having to come back in and that wasn't possible! We did though have a coffee and it was lovely. The young lady who served us was so friendly and full of life. The whole place was kept so clean and the service was excellent. It's a nice airy store and I like that in the cafe you had space and big windows to watch the world go buy. We will use again as a cafe and we are always tempted by books.

Plymouth used to have two Waterstones, but now we are down to this one. In days past, every outlet used to seek the same books at the same time. They struggled. Then, they added a coffee shop, and gave mangers significant latitude in the books they ordered. The stores stocked different things now, and it was with going into a Waterstones in another place because it would not be the same as all the others. As of now, they are surviving lower online prices because you can browse, have a coffee and a snack, and consult friendly staff who know books. Get one of their discount cards and remember to use it, and you get a free book now and again. Almost all the independent bookshops are gone, but this chain manager to transform itself into the very next best thing. That was clever Go there, sit in a comfortable chair and browse. That's what a bookshop is for :-)

This place is situated in the Mall so perfectly located. It is a good place to browse and buy. Apart from books there are additional items for sale such as stationery items and pocket money toys and gadgets. Have ordered twice from here and both times have been served by friendly helpful staff. The books I ordered were delivered within 2 days.

The quality of service. The young woman who was busy stocking shelves took me over to the section I needed and looked for the required book. It wasn't there or on the smaller display units. She offered to order it for me, I declined initially ,thinking I would order it online, however she had been so helpful I changed my mind and went back ovet to her. She checked the stock and it transpired a copy had just come in which she fetched for me. She went out of her way to help me, would it were the same everywhere!

A bookshop with a Costa inside ...ideal ! Friendly staff who know the store like the back of their hand. Can't find what you are looking for? Talk to the staff they will even order it in for you . A few comfortable chairs to sit and read if desired . not only do they sell books but stationary, a handful of games, notebooks . some might say its pricey, but the quality is superb. Big children's section and clear signs throughout showing genres . The layout of the store is good although some areas can get a tad crowded at times especially when the latest book from a great author is out. Waterstones also have book signings on certain dates which always go down well and is advertised via the shop window. Overall a great shop I'd recommend to all.

The store itself is filled with a bookworms atmosphere and replete for everything for someone, the staff were decisive and friendly however you will have to keep in mind some people will bring in their families which can ruin an atmosphere no matter how cozy. But that is something beyond the stores control and the variety of books are worth popping in

Pleasant bookstore with friendly staff and a wide range of genres to choose from. The Costa Café inside is small with a few tables for seating - not ideal for large groups but good for 2 or 3 people. Primarily suited for coffee and cakes. You have to que up for your drinks, no table service provided, so inquire if you need assistance or have a disability/mobility issue. Bathroom facilities available. Quite busy normally, not recommend for a quiet read.

The selection of books is expansive enough to provide almost all the most popular new titles, as well as notable releases from recent decades. The in-store café is quite expensive, but it's a Costa, technically not part of Waterstones itself. Either way, it's nice to have in there in you're the sort who enjoys reading and/or writing at a café, and there's all the joy of being in a bookshop while you're at it. It sounds strange to say of a chain of highstreet shops, but I genuinely enjoy spending time in Waterstones.

As an avid reader, Waterstones is often somewhere I look. While you may perhaps find cheaper prices online, nothing quite beats wondering around an actual book store. Friendly staff that are always happy to help.

Having vibrant bookshops is a measure of our civilization. As Joni Mitchell once sang: "You don't know what you've got, til it's gone." Docked 1 star because the café has Costa coffee. I don't like to knock a British company, but Costa coffee is just not good, even Tesco stopped serving it in their cafés.

Reason for only 3 stars is parking is a pain/expensive. There is a coffee shop in the book shop. Please let's just have a book shop selling books as having a coffee place means less book stock. The worse part are the queues for buy anything. They are long at the best of time. Christmas time is a nightmare. You would be better off ordering the book on Amazon. Though I hate saying that as I love books shops. But this particular Waterstones I would advise against unless you happen to be in Drakes shopping area.

They've got a massive selection of books on all topics and plenty of little knickknacks and maybe some paddywacks. Regular sort of chain bookstore and it's maybe weird you need a review of it. They have a great selection of the "gift" copies of classic literature (Moby Dick, Etc) really nicely bound. Large selection of maps from around the world. If you like books, I'm sure you'll like it here.

Great place to buy any book you want. One of the favourites this time of year is A Christmas Carol, about Mr Scrooge and Marley, but Mr Scrooge is Bah Humbug until he gets visited by the Ghosts of Christmas past, present, and future. It's a cracking Christmas read.

A great bookstore for all types of reading material, from informative, fact-based, educational, tourism, culture and traditions and of course manga which I prefer this section the most though I would like to see a greater selection of titles available. Staff are welcoming and helpful. The store offers a relaxing and contemporary modern feel with seating available for those who would like to examine multiple books to find the right one to purchase. Waterstone's just don't offer reading books, they offer other items from artist materials such as canvas to drawing pens, pencils and the odd collectors models or figurines. Not only this, they have events that authors can visit to store for books signing, this way you can get a personalised signed edition but meet the authors too. In short, this is a store that strikes an accord with readers all alike.
