My favourite place on Earth! SUCH a variety, always stocked up!! Staff are always very kind, fun and smiling!! Probably think I am crazy because always when I walk in I come out with around 20 books. :D I have a channel where I review books I have read and also do so on GoodReads and thanks to this place I can actually afford to buy and read so many different brilliant works!! :) Will always be back!! <3

A great place to buy some more Christmas presents if you are after books, games, arts and craft items and much more at very reduced prices. All the tills were being manned so the queue went thru pretty quickly too. Friendly And helpful staff. This shop is one that you'll visit time and time again.

This is a lovely shop, full of great books and other gift ideas. From fidget spinners to art and craft sets, this shop is a must visit for those things you are looking for to entertain and educate your children. Lots of things for grown ups too. The staff are friendly and helpful, you can order in what you need and collect in store. And the prices are very good too. Right in the middle of the city precinct, there's no reason not to pay this place a visit :)

Love this shop! Very conveniently placed in the city centre. It's a reasonable sized shop with a good mix of craft stuff, books, kids books and crafty items. Don't forget the kids toys, stationery, gifts oh and they now do birthday cards! There isn't a lot you can't get, no clothes or shoes! Good for click and collect too.

Hand sanitiser on the door. 20 birthday cards for £1- bargain! This shop is a bit cramped and hard to move round the craft area AND social distance but that's why I went Christmas shopping at the beginning of October before the crowds start

I like shopping in the Works, but I do always find it a little overwhelming on the senses. I can't browse here because there is too much going on. That said, I went in with a purpose in mind and came out with what I wanted. My mission was to get a book or books for my daughter's school friend's birthday. I came away with 4 books, priced at £1.50 each. Each one has a traditional tale but with a focus on phonics (yep, I'm that mum 🤣) Always find The Works to be well priced. Their craft selection is usually good and I'm looking forward to purchasing some Christmas crafts in the near future.

This is a brilliant little shop for discounted books, they have a good variety of novels by many different authors and encompassing several genres along with some [auto]biographies plus historic and fact based books. They stock a wide range of stationery and art supplies, both with basic and more luxury or professional lines. There's a selection of children's toys, some DVD's, plus plenty of "knick-knacks" such as humorous door and window signs, seasonal, family, horoscope and animal themed mugs and badges, novelty keyrings, telescopic back scratchers, fly swatters and selfie sticks, hand held squeezie stress relievers and others too numerous to mention here. They have their own loyalty card scheme whereby you earn points each time you shop there and can save them up to be redeemed against future purchases which is amazing considering how low the prices are to begin with. I'm an avid reader/book collector and I absolutely love The Works for their fantastic 3 for £5 mix and match book deal which has enabled me to expand the collections I have by several popular authors (including Ian Rankin, Michael Connelly, Kathy Reichs and Alex Gray) for a fraction of what it should have cost. I always enjoy browsing their selection of sports related books as I'm a massive fan of Formula One and I've found some really great F1 bargains amongst the sports titles. I also like to check out their special offers on book series/author collections having previously got a great deal on a collection of Jo Nesbo novels plus books 1 - 4 of the Dexter series by Jeff Lindsey. All in all The Works is the ideal place to go for anyone who is interested in the type of products they sell as you will always find something you like for a genuine bargain price. Five stars! *****

They have cheap art supplies which is ideal for me, they also have a wide variety of toys, books, gifts, crafting supplies, notebooks and pencils. Very colourful store and they often have stuff on sale as well!

A lovely jumble of things you may find in WHSMITH, Smiggle, or Waterstones, but at a fraction of the price. Father Xmas would be lost without this place
