Reviews of Watford Library

Good small library, nice space to be in. Sometimes tricky to find books in general fiction due to layout of shelves. Also would be nice if there were spaces to sit and read - currently these are only in the Children's & YA areas.

Great library. Helpful, friendly staff. BUT please note they are having some problems with bikes being stolen out the front. Mine was stolen just now on 28th August 2022. Make sure you keep an eye on your bikes outside if you are riding there

Great place to gain knowledge:)

Really helpful staff, and super place! Really is a shame people don't use libraries as much, glad to have renewed membership

Fantastic amenity for Watford residents. Staff are helpful and the atmosphere in the high-ceilinged room is pleasant.

A wide range of books and public pcs available here. The pc area can get busy sometimes and I have known days when some pcs are out of action due to technical problems. A large study area upstairs in the reference section is useful for students and those studying, however it isn't always as quiet as you'd expect. There is also a nice quiet, cosy coffee shop where you can sit down in between browsing. Staff are helpful and will point you in the right direction if you are stuck. Self service machines are available for issuing and returning books as well as for paying for printing. Payment is currently by card only.

All the staff members are extremely supportive and help us out at every step.

Fine library, very helpful if you need advice on finding a book or an author

I find the children's section at this library very hit and miss. Today there were no more than fifteen board books on offer, and appeared to be greatly reduced picture book offerings. I'm not sure whether lots of people have borrowed and not returned yet, or whether books have been returned to other locations or are being sorted, but it was a little underwhelming.
That said, there is a good selection of non-fiction books, and some nice picture books for older readers. There are large print and braille books clearly positioned close to the entrance of the children's area, and the space is generally accessible.
The self-service machines are easy to use and reserved books are well-organised by borrower surname opposite the information desk, making them easy to collect.
I always like to look at the withdrawn books for sale, and whilst some are unfortunately very badly battered, I've purchased a few beyond repair to use for other projects.
All in all, this children's library is fine, but if you visit regularly and borrow larger numbers of books, I think you could exhaust it quite quickly.

I effectively lived in this place for 7 years while I completed my open university degree. I’ve seen it change from something that looked like a school classroom in the 1970’s to a world class library. Books, computers, coffee and 3D printers - great!

Beautiful place to settle down and get some work done. Plus the resources are more than helpful! If you ever feel hungry you can visit the cafe where they do some delicious cakes along with lovely customer service!

The Watford library is a nice place to go and pick up a book to read and there is a very nice cafe in there to get something to eat and drink in there.

Downstairs looks great after the refurb. Upstairs needs air con! Wide variety of books available and places to sit and read. Several computers available. Colour printing quite expensive at 50p per sheet.

A huge library with lots of books, computer, free internet. It has a cafe inside which serves tea, coffee, breakfast and lunch. Creative space is another division on the first floor that provides group training for 3D printing, etc. If you are living around Watford, should check this place out.

This is a nice library with a cafe, unfortunately with all the pandemic it is more difficult to use if you have a disability. The staff are very helpful.

Such a good environment to study in and staff are super friendly and helpful. Only downside is it can get very busy and tables get taken very quickly so I recommend getting there early!

Staff can be selective with who they want to be nice to, certain people never respond to my pleasantries or even extend their own whenever I visit.
