Had a lovely afternoon tea here. Detail in the presentation of the food was just as great as it was to eat. Warm surroundings and attentive staff. Lovely. Prices good too.

A cute teddy bear shop but a little too crammed. Was difficult getting the pram inside which put us off from trying out the tea room upstairs. Staff seemed a little overwhelmed with the amount of people in the shop. Cute store but didn’t get a chance to view upstairs. Hope to do so next time. Good collection of stuffed animals but a bit on the pricy side so be prepared to pay a little extra.

Beautiful shop...just looking in the window is a delight. On going inside the shelves are packed with all sorts of beautiful bears...and other wonderful creatures. Something for every budget too... No pressure to buy...take time to look at all the wonderful displays. Stunning bears that really speak to you. But I AM a bear lover. I have a Charlie bear in every room in my house...even the porch and bathroom. I have Merrythought and Steiff too. Some real beauties in here. I purchased a Steiff penguin for my son as a gift from York and it was gift bagged...the lady was very polite and helpful. Thank you so much and my son loves his gift.

Fantastic array of bears both for kids and adult collectors alike. Steiff, Charlie Bears, and handmade one-of-a-kind bears from local artists can be found here. Will definitely visit again!

The quality of the food here is exceptional. A traditional English tea room with locally sourced home baked cakes and lose leaf tea. Best meringue I have ever had in my life! The building is old and quirky, a well kept example of the architecture of the time which makes for an interesting experience. The teddy shop downstairs is beautiful too. You can't leave without treating yourself to an adorable furry friend.

I Visited this Lovely little Shop in York On Thursday the 28th of October after visiting Mary shortle what has been a shop which I have wanted to go to for a few years now but I was disappointed especially with the lady in charge as she wasn't very welcoming and only interested in the customers who brought something so my advice is if you want a charlie bear or stief e.c.g visit Stonegate teddy bears, It felt alot more welcoming and the lady who served me was lovely, I also brought a lovely bear which I had been looking for. If I'm ever in York again I will definitely visit Stonegate teddies 🧸

The shop itself is unique and original with a huge range of bears. The café is phenomenal- the milkshakes and scones were amazing, and the rest of the food looked fantastic. The service could've been faster but everything is homemade so this is no surprise. Will definitely return.

Can not Fault the welcome and the immediate service we received. Chef had accident in Kitchen and was taken to hospital. The wait we received for our order was unacceptable. The Food when it came was gorgeous Homemade ginger and Apricot Chutney. Kids boxes were lovely touch for kids. We received 10% discount for out wait for food.

York is full of tea rooms but this has to be the most charming. Located above an adorable teddy bear shop is a small but cosy Tea Room. The girls who worked here were friendly which added to the nice atmosphere. As it is small I would advise to go during the late afternoon.

Popped in for afternoon tea at about 1615 midweek. A very cramped tea room. The service was very poor. We sat for close to 15 minutes without even the sight of the waitress, only a fleeting glimpse as she shot in and out of the kitchen. The only reason it went up to three stars was when we finally got served the afternoon tea was good. Won't visit again, there are simply better places on offer.

Visited twice little cafe upstairs in the teddy bear shop! A real diamond, excellent attentive service, cakes are delicious and the scones with the cream tea are served warm and lovely!

My kids love this teddy shop and I bought them another teddy each today. I have to say my little girl took a shine to one if the ugliest looking cat teddies I have ever seen (I guess at no fault of the shop) called "grumpy cat" but I couldn't talk her out of it, she had made her choice so both my kids left very happy with their purchases.

Very very busy today with long waiting for food. That doesn't matter though, if like us you popped in for a relaxing coffee or hot chocolate and scones. Run off their feet and still smiling... Love them all.

This shop does exactly what it says on the front of it. It sells collectable teddy bears and soft toys of all descriptions. It also has a lovely tearoom upstairs. I've bought several Charlie Bears for my wife from here, and even had one delivered because I spotted my wife walking toward the shop and didn't want her to see it. As expected, delivered as promised by the lovely lady behind the counter. The shop can get crowded sometimes because it's very popular! AND....it's an 'olde-world' shop built in the middle of Medieval York so don't expect loads of space. Just call back later if you find it too busy. I do. If it's something for a loved one, for a birthday, anniversary, etc..., you'd be hard pressed not to find something in here that wouldn't do. Just be realistic... It sells soft toys. Don't look for 'old', 'pre-loved' bears in here. It's not an antique shop. All in all Stonegate Bears is a lovely 'Olde-World' shop in the centre of Ye Olde City of York. Wheelchair and pushchair access wasn't thought about when it was built all those hundreds of years ago. But,don't blame the owners for it. Its not their fault. It's a great shop. I will be going back there soon just to 'top-up' my wife's collection of Charlie Bears. A great shop and tea-rooms run by lovely people. Go visit... And just enjoy.......x

Probably one of the best, if not the best, collectable Teddy Bear Shop in the UK. I could say it's full of soft toys, but, in all honesty these 'toys' are a work of art. Stonegate Bears is run by one of the nicest ladies you could meet. Set in an 'Olde Worlde' shop that probably dates back to the Middle Ages, it's full of Teddy Bears of various brands, shapes, and sizes. You have to remember that most of these are 'Collectable' Bears and are not deemed as toys. So don't expect a Collectable bear for £10 when it's r.r.p is £70. It also has a lovely little café upstairs among the bears. Well worth a visit.
