As my expanding waistline can attest, I am a fan of pies and am happy to report that these savoury treats do not disappoint. Amazing quality, great taste and very reasonably priced given just how tasty their offerings are! Their variation of the scotch egg in particular is a real treat, exchanging bland breadcrumbs (which generally go everywhere) for slices of bacon (which hold the York Egg together well). Definitely worth a visit.

One word. Boar. The Boar 🐗 pie is where it was at! One of tastiest first byte ever! Bought at one of the quaintest streets in medieval England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿. Eaten at King’s Square in lovely York 🇬🇧 to seal the deal. Transporting one to another time!

After seeing a YouTube for this place we made a bee-line for the pie shop. There was a bit of a queue but the service was quick and the short wait allowed us to decide on the pies. We ordered a ploughman's with cheese on the top, a Mac & cheese and BBQ pulled pork. They were all really tasty and not too expensive. My son said it was the best pie he'd ever had - praise indeed 👍

The best and tastiest pasties I've ever had. Great flavour, high meat content but with enough veg to add texture and keep moisture. Ruined all other parties for me! At £2 a pastie it's a brilliant warm lunch.

Visited yesterday, 3/8/22, had two of the traditional pork pies. They were absolutely fantastic, so tasty and perfectly moist. Best I've ever had. Staff were friendly and accommodating too. Word of advice get there early to avoid dissapointment.

We left York yesterday but before we left we purchased a large pork pie from yourselves. I am distraught; as a lover of pork pies, and I have sampled many; yours in my humble opinion is the best and most tasty pork pie I can recall eating. They say a decent pastie should be made with little chunks of beef and not mince beef but these pasties are excellent easily among best ive ever tasted. Short crust pastry just right and and absolutely cramped with filling . And very good value to! Toulose sausage rolls also very good.

I never post reviews but honestly this place has my heart (and my wallet lol). Its not lightly I say that they have the best sausage rolls, pasties and pies that I've ever tasted, and the prices are unbeatable! Every single member of staff I've seen has been amazingly friendly and happy (and with the amount of times I've visited I must've seen them all by now lol), and even when theres a small queue they work through it quickly and efficiently. Would 100% recommend, a must visit for any tourist or local!

OMG The best pork pies ever! I am a pork pie connoisseur, been everywhere tasting pork pies, most are average to poor but these are the very best and definitely 5star. Highly recommended. Buy more than one you will not regret it.

This shop has the best pork pies I have ever tried!! You cannot get any meat pie nearly as good in London unless going to a boutique markets or specialty butchers where you would pay much much more. Even the "special Christmas" pies from the upscale supermarkets such as Waitrose, m&s or Selfridge's simply don't compare. The meat is succulent and flavour sublime especially when the pie is still slightly warm from the oven. I highly recommend buying one and eating it fresh with a pint of ale from the local market. It is a match made in heaven! My personal favourites are the huntsman and the black pudding pie. The classic is great as well. The steak pie is very moorish with very generous chunks of steak that are tender and flavorful without any dry toughness or gristle. They definitely know how to select the right cuts of meat. I would eat these pies all day long if it wasn't conscious of my diet or lived closer. The gentleman working there is also very friendly and patient and provides service with a smile. There were locals who were collecting orders in the queue so it doesn't appear to be a tourist trap. I didn't have a chance to purchase any of the uncooked meats or sausages but would love to do so in the future.

Absolutely beautiful pork pies. Warm when I bought them and the taste and texture was heaven. The chilli pork pie certainly packs some punch but it still has the taste to go with it... yum yum. Well worth a visit and spending a few pounds. 10 out of 10 in my opinion

Vegan friendly, extrenely good value for money pie shop. They made a vegan pie for me when i popped over. And it only cost £1.80 (almost everywhere else charges £3.50 for pies) It was delicious (cauliflower, potatoes and garlic).

Bought two pork pies today, one for me and the other as a gift for my dad who is a bit of a Pork Pie connoisseur. The pie meat is course and at first sight you'd probably not be fancying them but... wow they tasted great and very tender too, the taste is strong and more'ish and the pastry thin and crispy. Surprised at some reviews stating rood staff as we were served with a smile and felt our custom was welcomed. Will be back again when we visit York again 😁.

We’ve been buying sausages from the shop for over 10 years now, had our card stamped each time and thoroughly enjoyed them each time. We’ve tried the lot, but particularly enjoy the French Toulouse ones, laced with garlic. Whenever we are in York we always buy a few sausages, but why not, it’s top grub, and......properly made without the rubbish, no fat comes out like supermarkets sell. Rang a few days before visiting York. Made an order to make a pie with hubby's name on for his birthday as he is obsessed with the pies in here. Hubby was chuffed to bits and scoffed it down within 5 minutes of leaving the shop. Not sure it actually touched the sides. Got to be said they're the best pies we've ever had, and trust me we've had a fair few in our time. Wish we had bought more of them as my spare pie I was saving for me, was scoffed in bed by the hubby lol

We arrived back in Liverpool from York after an horrendous journey due to the weather and traffic. Fortunately we had a Shambles Pork Pie room temperature after purchasing it warm. I can honestly say it was the best pie of its type I've ever had and trust me I've tried many. We've even diverted off the motor way to Milnthorpe to pick up their award winning pies. Ten out of ten. Peppery moist and lush.
