-Friendly staff …

Good library with a decent variety of books and a nice layout. The LGBT section is lacking, however; a few gay books and trans books but absolutely no books on lesbian history or culture. There is no feminism section either, which is a real shame for a city with a rich history of both.

A lovely library which me and my wife love coming to. The staff are helpful, the facilities are great and there are a wide range of books available for borrowing whcih is heaven for bookworms. The food served in the cafe are delicious and resonably priced. But recently, there has been a girl wearing a green jacket and pyjamas who kept staring at us when we were on the ground floor whilst eating cornflakes one by one from the packet which made us uncomfortable.

A very nice building with friendly staff who go the extra mile to help customers who are visiting. The only issue I had was that there was a girl in pyjamas carrying a Sainsbury’s bag who kept following me and my husband around which made us uncomfortable. I think she might be engaging in prostituion

Lovely building, sweet staff and a massive range of books for all ages and genres.

My favourite library. It's open seven days a week (impressive as I grew up around libraries that were only open three or four!), has a wide and eclectic selection, is in a beautiful and spacious 19th century building with a simply gorgeous archive upstairs, and it even has a café! York is blessed to have it.

Great place in York centre. Can stop and browse, look at range if books. Small cafe and toilets.

The best library ever! Great selection of books, and you can have books from other libraries in the system delivered to your local branch (for a small reservation fee of 25p). Friendly, helpful, knowledgeable staff, who always make you feel welcome.
