Reviews of Geek Retreat Bedford
Z.
Great food, which staff are happy to adapt on request. Both meat and veggie/vegan options available.
Delicious milkshakes-highly recommend Thunderbolt and Melted Witch (they also have vegan ice cream and non dairy milk so can switch out if needed)
Super helpful and knowledgeable staff who are always happy to help you find what you need or to teach you how to play! That includes board games as well as Pokemon, Yu-gi-oh, magic or 40k to name but a few.

Great place to visit alone or with kids and family.
Really polite and helpful staff.
You will always feel welcome here.
My son and I now make this our weekly ritual, no matter your level of nerd, you will find something to do or enjoy here.
From pokemon to funko pops warhammer to boardgames... this place has it all.
And the curly fries are great.
Not to be missed

I was pleasantly surprised by Geek Retreat. They not only sell everything for fans of Pokemon and Yugio but also a wide variety of other gaming products. Add to this daily events, including a mother and baby soft play morning every Thursday, along with food and drink and I'd say this place is well worth a visit.

I wish we had places like this when I was a kid.
If you or your kids are fans of tabletop games, boardgames, card games and fantasy/scifi models then this is right up your strassê.
The staff are very friendly, enthusiastic and knowledgeable and there is a cafe serving so-so priced but very generously portioned, kid friendly food and drink.
Recommended for a quiet afternoon.

Great offers on food, the drinks are awesome and the merch it sells is good too. Great place to do your D&D campaign and even paint mini figures!

I don't care if this sounds sappy or melodramatic, but the arrival of Geek Retreat in Bedford has changed bedford for the better.
It isn't just a store with friendly and helpful staff, spacious areas to play and a diverse range of products, it's a community centre.

Could not recommended this place high enough, great for kids and adults! The milkshakes are so good and the burgers and sweet potato fries are so tasty! My nephew loves coming because there’s so many board games to play that we’ve never seen or played before and I always enjoy beating him on the game cube. I also love coming myself because they run different nights where I can come and meet lovely and kind people to play games with. It’s one of my new favourite hang out places in Bedford. The staff are also so wonderful, they are so welcoming and helpful when you come in. I feel the events are so good because they really help you and make you feel we at ease as they introduce you to other people who are also there to have fun. So pleased this board games cafe opened in Bedford, you need to go and experience yourself. You won’t regret it!

Geek Retreat (GR) Bedford is such a welcoming environment with something going on all the time. There is a good range of games to try out on the shelves and the staff are very helpful. I love the atmosphere here as well as the diverse range of people who turn up, probably because GR are famously inclusive no matter who you see or what you look like. It's worth joining their Facebook pages to get a handle on what is happening on any given day.
All that said, GR took their time with getting the food offering right but things have definitely improved of late. I suspect that local planning rules are making it harder for them than it needs to be, if so then Bedford Borough Council needs to sort itself out and empower this kind of innovative business because they are bringing a lot of custom into the town centre which can only be a good thing.
There is still some room for improvement here. A direct line of communication, preferably a phone line, would make it easier for customers to connect and the lack of any wi-fi is annoying, especially given the poor signal in the Harpur Centre but these minor niggles are not enough to prevent me from giving them a solid 5/5. Great place!

If you like board games, this is the place to go. There's a wide selection for fans of Pokemon, Yu Gi Oh, Warhammer, and Dungeons and Dragons. Other games are also represented. There are other collectibles like hats and Funko Pops for the discerning geek to buy.
There is a wide range of snacks and drinks for your play time, or meals if you're hungry. I recommend the curly fries.
There are lots of events throughout the week like pokemon games and miniature painting. These are advertised on their social media and in store if you're interested.
Of course, if you want to go in for a quiet cup of tea or coffee you can do that too.

They made my son feel very welcome
