Reviews of The Square Shopping Centre
M. M. V.
Good place to visit. Different people come around. Huge variety for shopping and eating. Banks, mobile shops and many more for day out.
J. A. S.
More bins would be great, but shelter from the elements and warm food are always appreciated. The park area and seating are still locked from public use
W. M.
If, like mine, your daughter is a bit of a hippy, this is the place! She loves it!
c. s.
A good shop for the ones who loves art . Prices are good.
A. P.
Can't be easy running a business here especially with the tram works here and the pending redevelopment. However there are a good mix of businesses, even with vacant units. It's nice that there are some independent sites as Birmingham does lack these especially in the city centre
A. A.
This place is ok not great you have other better ships around if you wanted to really look overall not bad I would suggest looking around first.
I. H.
It has a couple of very good hardware shops for all needs around the house.
C. P.
Love coming here. Loads of different stores together and so much varieties of different items. Love the gothic shop too.
A. B.
Some good alternative shops here along with some scruffy looking bargain shops.
They sometimes have entertainment in the centre square like making it into a beach for the kids.
Today they had deck chairs out and a big screen tv showing Wimbledon.
There is a very large B and M store here which is a place I usual visit when I venture over to Birmingham.
There's a lovely chippy on the street just below the square too.
S. T.
A few shops that abit different plus b&m as well as some where to grab food. I liked the green area in the middle. Was nice to be able to take a break and have a drink and eat in the seating area away from the busy town.
M. G.
Clean tidy bit quiet when I visited bit that's to be expected in current covid situation nobody was wearing masks other than myself.
b. i.
A 5 star definitely!
Pablo's is a destination point tourists should stop at. Met Pablo himself and was really helpful with getting us coins, detergent and conditiiner. The hall of fame round the store with pictures of famous international stars who had visited the store kept us entertained.
J. F.
An OK shopping area. Not much to say as it is quite rundown. The glass architecture is probably its best point.
M. “. G.
Diversions up due to the eternal roadworks and pointless tram rail lines that are everywhere. Bit of a forgotten area of town due to the bright shiny attractions of the Bull Ring & The Mailbox
M. L.
Only went for a pint at the Peaky Blinders Bar. Good fun. Loads of PB memorabilia on the walls etc. Not the most salubrious part of the city centre but very welcoming.
S. Y.
Not much of a shopping centre. Not many stores to visit that cater to everyone's needs. I don't think I will be visiting here again.
A. E.
Went for piercing staff very welcoming. Explained everything they'd be doing and put us at ease. Would definitely recommend and would go again.
A. K.
Ok but a bit chavvy. Good eateries and spiritual shop. Just watch yourself though.
V. J.
It's lovely stop inside to have lunch lots of exciting to visit
V. W.
Lots off shops and a place to just sit and relax .lovely part of town.
S. R.
I like the look of the place but the shops within are not shops I would use very often.
G. B.
Nice location, nice shops. Just a little old
M. M.
Not much in here but cafe there is nice
W. D.
Brilliant little square with individual shops most of all oasis an eclectic mix of styles of clothing and excellent piercing centre
S. Z.
There is a lot of construction work going on around the area, but that didn't stop me from spotting a few good bargains.
H. K.
if you love classically Quirky and Urbane at the same time then you won't be disappointed. love the quiet and cheerful vibe throughout The Square.
T. c. t.
Most things is there what you need, just have money for shopping
U. A. J. Y.

S. I.

S. P.
Good shopping centre, a bit out dated but still enjoyable.
F. S.
Great gym in West Bromwich love it
O. M. B.
Very helpful staff. I recommend this place.
L. H.
Fantastic place to shop, the record stall & the rock band shop downstairs were brilliant! My daughter & I went yesterday & came out with some real bargains. The lads in the rock shop downstairs were all lovely & chatted away to us for a while about the band my daughter was buying a jacket for, there was so much to see, fantastic!!
G. M.
Dated post war era shopping centre but has many independent shops and big names. Outside picnic area, café and clock. Needs a lick of paint on the outside, but secure and safe.
G. U.
Busy place, plenty of shops
F. S.
Great shopping mall . Its beautiful for tourists who have not seen Birmingham , things can be pricey but it gives you an overview of the city as a whole. And it shows off our brands and so on ... out of the you'll see also many other shops such as 'JD, and Zara' . It's great to go window shopping through when you have time
C. H.
We visited oasis while here. This an iconic store for alternative clothing and accessories. My mum used to shop here in the seventies. I used to shop here in the late eighties and early nineties. I am now taking my teenage son here shop. I was very sad to learn that this place might be closing down. I really hope that this doesn't happen or if it does the council manage to find a place for this store to move to. As I said its an iconic store there is nowhere else like it and I travel from Coventry just to shop here. There arent as many stands open as there used be but hopefully if they are allowed to stay open or find somewhere for the storeholders to go then maybe it will fill up again. Love this shop as I'm sure many more people do to. Everyone that works in store is very friendly. And they always manage to put my autistic son at ease. So he feels comfortable enough to browse and shop here. 10 out 10 guys
S. E.
Good shops go and see 4yourselves
J. F.
Great for alternative shops that you don't find in high streets
B. K.
Good place for a bit of everything and then something, B@H store good staff.
A. K. (.
Nice place with plenty of independent shops and stalls and so on.
A. A.
It's okay, a lot of stores are in there
G. R.
Very primitive place with great customer service, I would recommend in visiting it as there is a lot to do around here. Lots of shopping to do with great offers and deals and very safe to walk around.
There are still some Dodgy people walking around but must be aware of that.
C. C. (.
I was just revisiting my childhood playground 😁
J. W.
Really nice independent shops full of varied items. Favourite place in Birmingham.
D. W.
It was a lovely afternoon so I visited the creperie. It's a great place to go. Always friendly and welcoming
C. L.
Clean great environment 👌 variety of shops, friendly staff and security
N. M.
Handy shopping area surrounded with shops and cafes. Large spacious area in center designed for shoppers to rest and eat. Close to High St and access to Bullring.
j. V.
Nice an open love the seating area for kids aswell
s.
Very nice selection of shops, can buy basically anything here. Good coffee shop in the center of the square with a well covered seating area; my only complaint is the bench positioning around the square, as when it rains even though they seem under cover they will still get wet as they are just on the edge of the cover so any side wind and they'll get wet.
T. C.
Shame some of the shops have closed
e. w.
Its a pub youre never go wrong there !!
s. m.
It's good for shopping and that
k. a.
Selling of beautiful gemstones here #gemstones i can tell you where is the store.
K. “. K.
It's like end of the road for this place. It's dull with hardly any regular shops in the vicinity.
H. P.
Nice little walk way.
N. J.
Interesting place to shop if you are fed up of all the mainstream stuff. Good for Rock, hippy, retro, gothic, gaming, vinyl, pearcings. Been going there for over 25 years
S. P. C.
Spend a lot of time in there lately. i miss the oudoor market but the cafe in its place is one of the best. The Oasis market is still great for shopping. I usually walk through there on the way to bus stops. I hope we don't lose this as well.
D. C.
Some interesting shops with cool stuff for preppers.
O. S.
Not a bad shopping area for westbrom plenty to choose from
D. H.
Lovely place
K. S.
The shopping centre had a wide range of products and a large selection of services. The staff was helpful and were willing to help with anything. They also always makes sure I was alright. Over all no Compaints.
S. J.
Everything you need, can be find here. I was looking for some bubles and couldn't find in anywhere. Suddenly walk in there and found plenty. Such a great surprise. But unfortunately some shops do not accept card payment and only cash. It was a bit far to find a cash point(the nearest is by Bullring).
h. s.
This place is a little gem there's loads of stores, that specialise in affordable clothing and accessories. Lovely places to eat! There's a huge bnm not too far from here. A whole variety of stores to explore.
K. G.
Found this by accident as I was trying to avoid the Bullring without walking too far from the bus station. This place is the exact opposite. You'll love it or hate it. There's a stand there selling cups of sweetcorn..!
M. C.
All sorts of small and big shops there, some of them still closed after lockdown, hopefully they'll open soon
K. O.
A nice place, a bit underused to be honest. The selection of shops is good, Oasis markets, B&M and some smaller local shops are there. There is a coffee shop in the centre of the square too if you fancy a quiet sit down and hot drink.
M. G.
There was nice clothing and all but I bought a dress for my daughter but I could return it and the shoes there are really bad quality but overall really nice
S. w.
It's not as popular now as it was say about 20yrs ago. But it is tidy with a big green turf area which kids can run around. A nice coffee shop in middle and a big John's fish and chips also a fairly big B&Ms store. They little fancy gift shops still there and of cause Oasis luved shopping here but nowadays looks really dismal needs a bit of love and bringing upto date but overall if you don't like hussell and busell of the city centre try here I don't think you will be disappointed........
K. B.
Ok place to look around with some half decent shops
M. S. c.
Everything you need one roof
Nice place 👌👌👌
S. _. S.
Easy place to look round for nicely priced items. All staff are pleasant and polite
s. r.
Daughter had a lovely day on the grass area
A. J.
I loved it, and my child also likes to walk there
H. R.
I don't shop at the stores within the Square as they're not my type but the picnic area is a nice touch. Artificial grass and benches provide a comfortable seating area to enjoy a quick meal.
t. e.
OMG - There were so many bargains yo be had & looked at; I literally could have spent an ABS fortune in B & M!! X
M. H.
A few stores coffee outlet and the Oasis store.
R. M.
It has so many stores that sells so many different things, if you cant find it in one you will be sure to find it in the other, there are also cafes etc all around so you dont ever have to leave to come back.
K. C.
This place used to be amazing when I was younger now its turned into some hipster "vintage" place that I cannot enter without getting annoyed. Alot of the things are over priced too!
S. A.
It has transformed dramatically over the years. There are empty shops which closed down and this had effected the shopping perception for some people. It's not totally bad as you can get pretty much anything you want and there are other big shopping malls just around the corner.
N. K.
Have a great conversation with a young lady how they're trying to help people that have impaired hearing with a new technical device and are trying to make the public aware and give people the chance to hear for the first time which is awesome it's a good job to those doing a fine job in letting the people know.
J. B.
Ok shopping centre like the B&M and there is seating place ok to walk thew to the bus stops
M. T.
A small shopping precinct with an array of restaurants to suit all tastes. After dinning , you could take a short walk to Birmingham New Street Station and Grand Central shopping mall. there you will find an enormous amount shops, with a vibrant atmosphere to match. Well worth a visit if your in that part of Birmingham city center. I am pretty sure you will not be disappointed.
F. P.
It's is a very old fashioned retail square nothing special but nothing wrong. It does feature a beautiful, quite odd, grassy centre piece with table and bench combo to enjoy lunch on a sunny day.
M. G. C. S.
Home to the amazing oasis market been visiting this part of Birmingham for over ten years and all i can say is things just keep getting better with the infusion of a green discs outdoors you are now able to grab a bite to eat and enjoy your lunch with the center the wife veraity of chain and independent shops asked for a almost complete shipping experience the only thing which is missing is Costa monga reopening is doors but i doubt that will ever happen again
L. K.
First time really up here. Pre arranged appointment at the Birmingham Chinese Medical Clinic. Was awkward to find via Google maps . I ended up following the path to the back of the building. If it wasn't for asking a worker on the street who was very kind I wouldn't have found it. I didn't realise the clinic was in the Peg building it self. Otherwise the route given here was quite simple. Doesn't seem as busy as I would have expected.
M. P.
Not enough sign posts around
O. S.
Nice place, you çan find most of your shopping and other services here.
C.
Has some interesting and quirky shops, as well as a pleasant outdoor seating area, but somewhat rundown, could do with maybe 1 or 2 more cafés or food outlets as well, though loads of fastfood restaurants are close enough.
M. I. M.
It is nice to visit
You can enjoy different types of good here
Good green area to sit and spend some time
lot of hassle Basel all around
You can see many visitors over there
A big bm store is there
E. P.
Nice range of shops but it's very intimidating walking past so many drug overdoses. Well aware of homelessness, but the drug epidemic makes it off putting venturing away from the bullring back to the car
M.
I usually come here to shop at the Oasis Market, ive been shopping here for about 8-10 years. I like their unique clothing/shoes and accessories. I've had some of my piercings done here along with jewellery and have no compliants
S. H.
This shopping centre has hand sanitizer at the main entrances and always seems really clean and tidy.
N. J.
Lots of great shops that sell eveything i need from designer clothes to smoking products to food for unbeatable prices even the designer shops are cheap
m. s.
Only visited convieneice store
A. K.
Beautiful shopping mail
Q. k.
It's not the best
D. C.
The Square Shopping Centre has been around for as long as I known Birmingham City Centre. It is a reminder of the days when Brutalistic forms were at the fore of architects minds. It is beautiful, but you have to live it in The Square, to feel it.
Shop around to find the sound as a pound cheap bits for the home. Oasis, the largest store to sprawl The Square, has everything a bohemian could wish for. I like what they've done with the outdoor space. Coffee Time coffee shop is at its centre. When the sun is out, it's a hive of deck chairs.
I love The Square. It just needs a good demolition team to see to the beginning of it's rebirth. When that fateful day does come (and it's been a long time coming), I will be saddened.
J. W.
Nice play to work around and have a look at the different shop.
S. G.
Excellent record store inside with a vast selection of new vinyl
T. A.
B&M store sells a selection of job lots of cookies, sweets, every day canned food at lower prices as well as electrical items and multi purpose tools, home decor stuff etc. Surprisingly spacious. There are a selection of coffee shops and sandwich eating establishments around the Central open air square catering for those taking a rest from shopping/ walking. It's an under utilised corner of B'ham in my view. Maybe why Ikea moved away from the area in 2017 ?
A. F.
Not many stores at all
K. M.
♥💞💗
N. B.
There were sooo many shops definatly something for everyone and also the size of the place was amazing I've never seen anything like that before
D. B.
It was great people are still self distancing that makes it great and shops are open, God is good to us all all the time,,..
M. M.
Not much to say to be honest. Just a lovely courtyard space
k. k.
Not bad
M. A.
Good place so many things to get, come and check it out and it is so reasonable, good bargains.
J. T.
Wallways looking a little tired and need replacement. Artificial turf area to sit in and plenty of seating. Some nice architectural sights to see. Area is part of the renovation project and may torn down. Some cheap shops around for food.
S. M.
It's a crowded place but, it's has trains station under the shopping centre.
A. P.
Lots of homeless walking around
Crowds without masks
C. U.

Situated in the middle of Birmingham, The Square Shopping Centre hosts a variety of budget shops including B&M Bargains. Also home to the famous Oasis Market which is renowned for its extensive collection of alternative clothing. A cafe which sells both food and drink sits in the middle of the centre and is surrounded by a few benches and green grass.
D. B.
Great place to shop, lots of different shops, food shops, bag shops, mobile phone shops, jewellery shops, oasis market with loads of other shops and stalls in there, a cafe with outside seating and a big beautiful outside seating area that has little activities in summer time.
S. S.
Not bad

Okay, a bit soulless these days, some dodgy folk hang around occasionally, so not one to dawdle in
A. A.
The place isn’t a maze it’s literally a square so stop walking around in circles people
B. W.
Good place to go now Birmingham its on the map thanks to good designers and planners and superb people who love and live local well done and the tram is the cherry on the cake but please keep the bull ring area and market been a true brummie area for centuries
N. C.
A square of odd shops and bits and bobs. Very popular for alternative styles of clothing and accessories. Wouldn't say its very cheap or clean. Also a brilliant quick passage
K. I. P.

C. C.
Interesting shopping experience for any age and gender
J. O.
Been shopping hear for years. Back in the 80s and 90s with the market stolls. But with these all gone now these only a few shops left. Ideal if you want to shop in the original Oasis or B&M
A. C.
Lovely place
J. P.
Tired shopping complex in need of a revamp. It does however come to life during the summer, with many people have picnics in the square and lounging on deck chairs.
M. M.
Beautiful place , good quality stores with good prices
A. K.
There's a lot it could do better, but it is one of the few places you can go to if your not entirely mainstream.
P. W.
