Reviews of The Rhiw Shopping Centre | Canolfan Siopa Y Rhiw
The Rhiw has a lot to offer everyone. Although there are larger shopping centres or stores in the area, it is still lovely to give to the smaller local shops.
Great little shopping centre in the centre of town a few empty shops that need filling but all in all you have food and a marketplace along with shops from game to WHSmiths here. Can recommend the sausage rolls from the bakery
Looking very sad now compared to 10 years ago. Few good shops remaining like the barbers, sewing shop and butchers but you can tell the place is struggling...
Stalls that were there were good but missing loads though
Not been in there for a while but so many empty shops in the market
It's starting to get boring and really expensive. Also, it's like a ghost town in there. You hardly see anybody anymore and nobody really helps or talks to you. Could be better. I recommend a primark:)
Not the biggest and not the best but has a good butchers and a really good photo gallery from a local photographer, some great local scenes of popular places. There's a bunch of other stalls and eateries too. Worth a visit if you're in the area.
Love the market. Food is fresh. Friendly shop owners.
Home of the best takeaway coffee shop in town - Wheelys!! ☕️😋
Good indoor Market and can't help going to jenkins bakers every time I go in
Just using the free three hours car park. Brilliant for shopping in town centre
Lovely shops and hardworking but Bridgend as a whole is slowly going down the pan, PAST and present goverment/local council not looking after the small lovely businesses, reduce the rates and remove paying car parks, NOT enough is being done......
Good little place a market inside also🙂
The Rhiw Shopping Centre is open with various shops even The Market is in this Centre. Lovely cooked and uncooked produce and Fruit and Vegetables with a Great Vinyl Record stand, Haberdashery as well and so much more. Worth a look if you are in the Centre.
I've lived in bridgend all my life, and this is the heart of it. Everything you need is here or is a 2 min walk away from here. It does the job and the indoor market is great little place to shop around in and help local businesses. I would personally recommend visiting the The Rhiw Teapot Café, it has a variety of all day breakfasts and british foods/ an amazing variety of Thai foods that's just as good as any restaurant.
Love this little market the stalls always have something odd and interesting the cheese Deli is excellent and the butchers are great fantastic little cafe takeaway with great food
Everything you need is all here under one roof. No need to get wet like most shopping trips in Wales lol. Great food lots n lots of choices. Very good help desk always happy to help. Very clean n tidy I have never seen any litter. Parking is very easy loads of spaces plenty of disabled parking and toilets. Best of all are the prices extremely pleased and u still get the best quality. All n all 10/10 must visit.
A small shopping arcade. Paid car park near. Always clean. Nicely decorated at Christmas. Indoor market there too though sadly a lot of stalls are empty now due to high rental prices of lots. Has some stalls that have been there many years still. Good selection of shops there too.
Nothing particularly exciting about here for me but it's got a variety of shops in one place under cover. About 20 shops. At the moment, Boots, Gift Shops, 3 or 4 clothes shops, WH Smith's, Game, Gregg's, Vape Shop, etc. One of the best things there is the indoor market with hairdresser, cafes (great for Thai especially, crafts, butchers, cakes, clothes amongst others). Right in centre of town. Links directly to car park via a covered footbridge.
Its the part of the hart of Bridgend shopping..
But
Unfortunately needs updating like a lot of Bridgend town centre...yes seen plans to update the town centre...but like a lot of plans form the local council going to be a big waste of money...and then will put the council tax up to pay for it ... like they have done so mean times ......
Pretty happy with the shops in the rhiw. I always end up in game or greggs. Ended up in whsmith because I was after cards against humanity.. as I needed the game for the weekend just gone. Pretty happy I was able to get it.. called ahead to an the staff helped alot
Its almost presentable but desperately requires modernisation. I wouldn't waist my time looking for mens clothing either, like Bridgend town Its self we aren't catered for.
It was fine.
Popped to boots to collect online order and grabbed a lovely pasty from Jenkins on way back.
It's ok. Not the greatest shopping experience. It could do with being improved. Lots of units have closed too.
Only a few places open in the old style market on the Wednesday we went. Really good Welsh butchers counter with proper salted butter and great cheeses. A good few small eating places serving everything from all day breakfast to Thai meals in a box. Not huge, but worth spending a while wandering about out of the rain.
The Rhiw is only a small shopping centre but it has some decent shops really. The market is quite good too, but they stalls are closing down quite a lot so there are a few empty units which is a shame. Some of them tend to overcharge but that might be because of high rent costs. I successfully bought some Christmas presents there today, quite good if you're looking for something that you might not find in the supermarket.
Town centre shopping - As with most towns, foot flow has died which is reflected in the shops available but still a decent place to visit if you know what you want. I've not been into the attached market for a long time but I believe the number of stalls has reduced.
It's awful, run down litter everywhere, I feel sorry for the people who live there
Easy access 3 ways for wheelchair users as well as prams etc.
Clean. Few shops in the Rhiw. Could do with more though. Able to go to cafes if you want a cuppa or something to eat. Although the cafes dont have great access for wheelchair uses.
My wife found all that she was looking for happy shopping.
A useful place especially for greetings cards and if you like gaming and sausage rolls, but in dire need of a refresh as it is looking very tired and dated. I understand Bridgend is a small town but that's no excuse for not spending a bit of money to keep local trade - the local council offices have been under refurbishment since last winter!!
Very handy place to purchase various items, and it always kept clean and tidy, there are a few empty stalls that is due to the amount that they have to pay. It's a shame really that they are unable to afford the rent increases all the time.
Beautiful deli on the corner I get my Welsh salted butter from the man who is always friendly and across the way a really good quality butchers beautifully steak and further up to the right a really lovely wool shop I picked up some bright mixed unusual wool important from USA 🇺🇸 well done wool shop I will be back to these new stalls soon
The Rhiw Shopping Centre does not have the hustle and bustle of 80s & 90s, quite a few empty stalls available if you are thinking of starting your own business why visit yourself and then decide
But is still a market where you can purchase items you require without going out of town.
Bridgend Council have Started Work on the interior of the Market to Make an open space I The centre for special occasions.
A nice once bustling market. Now a lot of the stalls are empty, but some very good food stalls are thriving along with the odd creative stall such as Masfina who source diverse and inventive crafts and jewellery.
Town centres are in flux at the moment as traders try to find a way to not lose out to internet shopping. Some are meeting the challenge. Some, as evidenced by the empty stalls, are not. (BTW claims the empty stalls are anything to do with pedestrianisation are frankly ridiculous. The centre has ALWAYS obviously been pedestrianised and ALWAYS next to paid parking)
Nice place for shopping, however parking near is quite busy on times
Not very much here. It’s a little “Rundown” since it’s hay day? There is an indoor market where you can purchase watches, material for making clothes. Plus all of the paraphernalia that goes with dressmaking. For those naughty people like me, that smoke. There is a selection of cigarettes in the little corner shop on the left at the main entrance. There’s an IT shop, clothes shop, and a W.H.Smiths etc. Outside the market, nonetheless, they are undercover and the weather poses no problem.
Used the watch repair stall got 3 batteries replaced and a new watch strap , good value
It was OK not a lot of shops in there.
Very dated now. Only half the market stalls currently doing business & most of those are food outlets. Not many shops apart from WH Smith, Game, Officers Club & a few others. McArthur Glen on J36 M4 a much safer choice.
Great variety of shops here and an indoor market too. Free Parking close by helps alot
Nice couple of shops and clean.
Remember passing by on the bus last week haven't been there for quite some time the Town has changed hopefully for the better.
Shame to see so many empty stalls but just love this place
Love the this, clean and well maintained are, contains plenty of shop's plus the local market with a selection of fresh fruit and veg, meats and cafés, nail salon, cake shops and the local Game store. Filled with very friendly helpful staff.
Shopped at W H Smith every week and staff are great.
Busy sometimes, alot of empty shops and stalls,in the market place there are alot of great people doing a fantastic job keeping bridgend moving!!
Bridgend is so quiet these days and like many shopping centres in small towns this one has little to offer. The once thriving indoor market is barely clinging on and charity shops are everywhere.
I do like shopping or window shopping in the rhiw, sadly things are beginning to get a bit dated, could do with a bit of modernisation,, the shop keepers are struggling, while more of us use the internet, myself included , we should shop locally more often, or as the saying goes, use it or lose it, there are lots of people who have difficulties getting to the out of town larger shops , and for many reasons, some may not be clear to us today ,will become clear once we lose them , then it will be too late, so i urge everyone myself included , to use our local shops more often
Not very big, stall holders struggling to find rates. Council need to to do much more to help, to many closing down.
I live in Brackla so this shopping centre is very convenient. It is nearly always busy and the car park full, although you'll always find somewhere to park if you're patient.
Close rather early but lots of good stalls and it's important to support local businesses.
Only a few stalls and shops these days, hopefully it will get better throughout this year and beyond.
The indoor market seems to have lost a lot of vendors lately which is a big shame. Generally, the Rhiw (and Bridgend) could do with some bigger high street shops to up the quality of shops on offer.
Not what it used to be. Some nice little shops in there but not much selection anymore. The council should be trying to sort something out. Not just in the rhiw centre, the town on a whole.
The Rhiw has changed a lot over the years but is still home to some of the bigger names in shopping in Bridgend with Boots, WHSmith and Game all situated here. It's easily accessibly from the new multistorey carpark and provides a good thoroughfare from the top end of town to the bottom. The Rhiw is also home to Bridgend Indoor Market which is sadly under-occupied but still worth a look. The arcade always looks lovely at Christmas but it's a shame to see several empty shops. An extra star for having a Welsh name without the need for a translation.
Great place to visit lots of different shops, easy access and good parking
We go here quite often, nice little market, although this has lost a lot of shops over the last couple of years. Decent little town centre.
Gives access to the indoor market and Boots. Not many shops of interest to me, but handy for accessing other shops in the dry.
Needs more shops
Nice place to shop with lots of different shops to browse and buy from and vary clean
Sadly in decline but lots of potential there, come on people and get back to shopping in town and help our community out
Bridgend had a bad press it situated in the shopping centre is the Indoor market. A great collection of established and start up businesses that has something for everyone.
Clean, tidy, plenty too look at.Market having regeneration. Looking good in there all social distancing measures in place 😀
Always visit the cafe there its clean welcoming and the food it lovely ,the stalls are brilliant nice little market x
There are some very nice stalls here. A great cafe "The Teapot" where the food is brilliant.
Poor and low quality,, more empty shops than full,, and those that are there need a massive overhaul. only stars really other than it gets you into the market. Massively overvigilent security bloke.
Shame to see this place being run down by BCBC used to be a buzzy market up until a few years ago. Only a few stalls still eeking out a trade....pull your finger out BCBC give this place a break and make it what it was...
Clean and open airy plenty of room lots of empty shops
Most of the shops are closed
Great to see the shops in the Rhiw again shops well organised
Very Present Shopping Experience," The Stall holders Are Very welcoming Indeed, Many Individual Business, Striving to Give the Best possible customer Experience, I will Be Returning
Great barbers. Only recently started coming here. Will be returning
Great shopping centre. Marketplace very disappointing as small and very little choice. Cafe food not very good as tends to be rather greasy and bland.
Nice shopping stores. Staff friendly and helpful.
Fone excellence
Very helpful and friendly.
unlocked my phone Xperia X no problems
Tried place now, needs a makeover however popular selection of shops
Some good shops. Market is great. Needs to be used and appreciated more
We had a great Thai meal here, a real unexpected gem. It was delicious.
The floors could be kept a little cleaner, and perhaps introduce a recycling bin scheme? Other than that it's good
Always buy my fresh cooked meats. Lovely food friendly staff
Had dinner in the little cafe was the best IV tasted in years and service was very friendly and quick , highly recommend it
This Market used to be amazing, it's such a shame to see it so derelict now. Desperately needs funding or something to bring the business and the people back in
Support your local businesses
It is great place to do your shopping you can walk around the market hall
The bright light in a very dreary retail town centre
There are a lot of empty shops sadly, and the market is struggling despite efforts by the council to improve it. There are some nice shops though.
How much would it cost for deaf blind uk to rent an empty shop for a drop in center it would attract more people to shop in the rhiw shopping centre
The Rhiw is busy but the indoor market has a lot of empty stalls the council need to attrack more small business.
Not that many great named shops but does have a few local business and it does always look lovely at Christmas.
Not many shops still operating, not only due to covid but due to shutting down branches.
Keep shopping local people. Some good food to be had at Jenkins the bakers.
Always enjoyed the market but sadly there are more empty stalls than full ones these days.
I work here and it's a great little shopping centre with a traditional indoor market too 👌
Some nice cafes inside the indoor market area along with a large wh smiths, a game and an independent bakers.
Good place to look around, the only issue is the temptation of spending money
Bit of a dive , since mcarther glen opened in sarn this place has gone downhill , very few shoppers , some good shops I guess
The only place in Bridgend Town Centre with a decent variety of stores, but still not the best with many empty store units and often an unfriendly crowd of people.
Head to the market some brilliant butchers stalls and great food
Still lots of closed shops, but interesting new ones too! Worthy of a quick visit 😀
Lovely shops on approach tunnel and very quaint inside with some gorgeous hand crafted stalls
Very quiet, felt like a Sunday. Hope it's due to the covid regulations.
Ok
Sadly seems to be getting run down used to like visiting here but not so much now needs a face lift and encourage more business here
Sad that the Bridgend town centre is a bit run down and empty which is why so many units are empty with closed down shops. The market is great though.
A few good stores in easy walking distance
Good fresh food on sale butchers cakes home made
Has many shops in a area and a market
It OK Coul d have more better shops for men but if you are a lady you love the Rhiw shopping cent
For what it is then it's not bad. I think the town is on a decline and needs investment.
Rhiw ain't bad, but it ain't amazing either.
Great atmosphere good followings to ppe and great handlers of this crises
Small, a little empty now, but great food from the Thai restaurant
Past its prime. Too many empty shops currently
Loved the indoor market, some great stalls.
Great little shopping arcade some query shops ideal for gifts and the best Thai food available!
Even though there are new builds the town is dying. The Rhiw and the indoor market are suffering due to the retail parks that surround it.
For a shopping mall, it looks pretty but has no public toilets and a lot of empty stores. Shame really
Still ok even though parking is rubbish and should be free to encourage people into town more
Perhaps the wrong day of the week to visit but a lot of shops were closed and quite a few empty a real shame.
Good shopping venue. Free parking. Excellent cafes.... good market in the week.
I just walked through the grow today all but a few shops were either shut or just didn't bother too open because of the weather
Great little shopping centre! Lot's to see and by, or just have a cooked breakfast!
Lovely shop. Beautiful stuff in there
Nice little place different variety of shops under one roof
Great place to shop and people are adhering to social distancing
Didn't go to the Rhiw but went to Dewi Griffiths one of the few places you can get jewellery repaired cleaned or appraised for insurance.
Nice shopping centre always clean.
Few handy shops. Serve food but don't allow eating inside.
Needed jewellery repairs and know exactly where to go - very reliable and efficient stall in the market.
Barron wasteland of former shops mostly closed or closing it's like Mordor
Kept clean and tidy. Shops getting priced out of town. Lots closing
Love it but so little is left now but very well worth a vist
Great old fashioned market place. I enjoyed my visit.
Very close parking and all your shopping needs under One Roof .. also indoor market adjacent.
Love wandering around the Rhiw, even better now that the first 2 hours of parking is free.
Home of the bigger shops and the local market, could do with a modern revamp as the market isn't highly visible
Lovely centre with plenty of retailer's and a good old indoor market!
Only go for the homemade Welsh cakes which are absolutely blinding
The stairs in the car park were smelly I think they are used for a toilets.
Market smaller each time I visit.
You can get fresh meat, fruit and veg and cakes here
Plenty of shops, conveniently located
It's an old building with new shops and the market is a amazing touch to it!
It's undercover so you can shop and not worry about the weather.
Go to the butcher they do the best salad in bridgend and the best coleslaw in South Wales!
It is a bit small and not a lot of shops. But I like the market and most of the shops there.
Lovely arcade it's a shame there aren't more shops.
Good place to shop but there are a lot of empty shops which spoil it.
Nice little market could do with more shops x
Nice to see clean public areas
Couple of shops here I like select clothes store
Crap compared to its former glory, still has WHSmith and an indoor market but no where near how it was
Nice place to go shopping all indoors and lovely cafes
Had a nice breakfast and there is more shops opening
Very handy little shop centre especially for iceland farm foods poundshop and a few others cracking little centre
Good shopping centre and very good cafes with excellent food and hygeine
Not the place it was half empty of shops
Went to the market and had a lovely meal in one of the cafés.
Used to love the market as a child. The council should invest in this structure
This retail park is the best in U.K. High quality throughout and superbly maintained
Good shops but everyone is leaving the market
Lots of different stalls though some were empty when I was there
Shopping complex with a variety of different shop
Few empty shops
The market gets smaller all the time with empty stalls
It's the home of the Rhiw Tea Room and the lovely Thai ladies who work there.
Love walking around the Rhiw. Even though Bridgend is getting like a ghost town now.
Great little shopping centre! Has everything that you could ever need
Got everything I need and all under cover
Always pleasant and polite staff in stores. Also easy access.
A wide range of shops and an indoor marked
Interesting area to see different shops
It's always clean and tidy.
Worth visiting just to get some delicious baked things from Jenkins bakery
Poor shopping selection... 25% of the Rhiw is the wall of Boots rather than more retail premises!!
A little dilapidated and parking in the area, I hope to see the government support this area for some renovations.
10 out of 10 for last chap, who stayed open,l like the butter and cheese on his counter.
Good short cut through to town. Market chips the best
Good one way system but no capacity control
Could be better if there weren't so many empty units
i have always liked the Rhiw, plus Bridgend,I was always around there as a child growing up with my mam and dad
Great local shops needs more local people to support local l businesses
I noticed the refurbishment has begun I hope the market goes from strength to strength.
Not been here for years Was a joy to walk around
Got what I needed very quite but staff very helpfull
Plenty of shops to cater for your needs but there is more in Swansea or Cardiff which is to be expected
Only small but has all of your needs It has game, phone repairs, food and whsmiths.
Great place, particularly the market.
Terribly sad that again a local authority doesn't get it that places like this need a break to survive and not let the town die.
I only go there as GAME is there and I maybe use WHSmiths now and again.
Good selection of shops to browse
Many shops are closed and the indoor market is like a ghost town now with lots of stalls closed.
Very busy, good selection of stores and easy parking
Its OK no good for a day out very small not a lot of shops
Few shops
Nice little shops . Great cafe
Lots of shops undercover, great with the bad weather we get
Ramsdens for foreign currency, good rates if booked and paid for online
A few empty shops but good market
Just a shame that occupancy is not greater.
OK place and lovely bakery plus indoor market
Only a few shops only one half of the arcade covered from the weather.
Good place to visit and shop..
Also a indoor market......
Not very good as only mans shop has closed and we only have Burtons for men
Quite a lot of shop ranging from clothes and game to food you can get it all there.
Clean but like the town dying off
Went to the indoor market could be live how many stalls had closed.
In need of an update, lose the concrete and make it more welcoming.
Some good shops still left here
Nice to see some units open.
Good few shops plus the indoor market
Indoor shops and market lovely little place
Good Ole Rhiw. Needs more advertising
The indoor market here is great lovely place to shop
The shops are ok but about half the stalls in the market are vacant.
More shops needed in Rhiw centre
It's clean and tidy, it's bright inside. Nothing bad to say.
A very friendly place to visit really enjoyable
Market quite empty, not enough shops
Great range of shops, worth a visit.
Good products at excellent prices
What I need to purchase is always here so happy for that xl
It's OK. There's shops here typical of a shopping center in town.
Nice place, funny little security guard tho
Sadly this area is becoming run down with most of the indoor market area now unoccupied.
Not many shops but the market is good especially the butcher.
Sadly a number of closed units and an overall rather depressing experience
Good but it's in need of some TLC.
Still enough retailers to be worth a visit
Support small shops and town centre take time off the Internet before you loose it
It has quite a few big names and the market is also there.
Okay ish, but need less charity shops please!
A few nice shops in the rhiw
Only good thing about bridgend town centre now
Bridgend was very good day out
Lovely shopping centre plenty of shops choices
Ample room to move for wheel chairs.
Keeps you our the rain
Looking a bit empty and unkept.

The shopping centre is OK and the indoor market
Great place to do a variety of shopping 😀
