Nicest man and best customer service I've ever experienced. I've been to Brighton many times but had never spotted Gustamps before, although it's been there for 40 years! Inside is an absolute treasure trove of stamps of every imaginable kind - I bought a beautiful set of aviation themed stamps. Gus the owner was an absolute pleasure to meet, showing me all sorts of different things with an enthusiasm and friendliness that left me wanting to go back there again. Whether you're a stamp collector or not, next time you're in the area I'd highly recommend visiting.

Brilliant Shop - 5 (no make that) 10 stars - Gus is a top man

Loveliest store owner ever. He was very knowledgeable with quite the collection, and he was also very helpful. Gave us a couple of stamps for memories' sake once he found out we were from Singapore simply because he wanted us to have a good experience at his shop.

We stumbled upon Gustamps in our day trip to Brighton. Gus was super helpful and explained everything about the old stamps we were looking at. He made an effort to find stamps in the style we were looking for and asked questions to figure out what we were looking for.
It was a great experience and we'll make sure to visit again next time we're in Brighton! It's lovely to see someone so passionate about something.

We wondered in on a Saturday afternoon curious about The Beatles stamps in the window, and were delighted with what we stumbled upon! The owner was so kind, helpful, and generous. He had an incredible selection of stamps: Rolling Stones, Queen, etc. It was my favorite part of Brighton, and I will treasure the stamps and experience at Gustamps always.

Great place. Friendly staff. Cheap 1st Class stamps that are sold 25% cheaper than the post office!! Worth a visit if your a collector or if your just after stamps

What a treasure trove of stamps!. I was greeted by a wonderful gentleman called Gus. He asked if there were any particular stamps I was after which I there were. He produced everything that I asked for! His knowledge of stamps etc is amazing. He also offers coins too at a good rate. He also gives you good deals and discounts!
Notably aswell, you can get a book of stamps a lot cheaper than the post office! If you live in Brighton or are every close by, do go and visit. I left very happy.
Thanks again Gus.

It was a shocking news today I heard through someone, Mr Michael who use to run the Gus Stamps shop is no more. His family lost him during the first lockdown. Sad to hear today even though it was years passed now to know this news. May his soul R.I.P!

Bought some very fun Disney stamps from Gustamps. The shop owner was unbelievably helpful, knowledgeable and and all round nice guy!
Top tip: Buy your first class stamps here instead of at the post office and save some money!!

Gus is an incredibly pleasant gentleman who is very knowledgable about stamps. He was able to give us a mini history lesson on some older stamps. Also, the stamps are less expensive than at the post office, which is pretty nice (as we were mailing a card to the states). If you are in Brighton, make a stop in and get some stamps!

Went in to buy a stamp and an envelope the man was so nice. The price of stamps are 20% cheaper than the post office. I ended up buying a penny black and a penny red at an unbelievable price wow

Stopping by Gustamps was one of the highlights of my trip here in the UK. I can't recommend it highly enough. Whether you're an avid stamp collector or not (yet), Gus is an extremely welcoming and knowledgeable shop owner. Looking forward to building my collection over the years.

Should have left a review one month ago. We visited this shop on Aug. 25th by chance. This is a fantastic shop with a lot of mesteries waiting for your discovery. The shopkeeper is very kind. He nicely introduced stamps throughout a long history to us, starting from Qing Dynasty to PRC (we are Chinese). He also gave us a bunch of stamps as free gifts. Highly recommended!

Definitely a hidden gem in the Brighton Lanes! Went in to buy some stamps and I was pleasantly surprised when how warm and welcoming the shop owner was. He is very knowledgeable and is very willing to help you find want you need. Recommend this to anyone visiting Brighton, I will be coming back here again.
R. A.
Amazing shop, really friendly man, as a resident of Brighton I was pleasantly surprised when i popped inside how cheap all the stamps were.. I'll never go to the post office again! why would you if you can get pretty stamps so much cheaper?!
J. K.
Came across Gustamps whilst wandering around Brighton. Gus was charming, helpful and knowledgeable and gave his time to answer any questions I had. Lovely 'Good Old-fashioned' service.

Me and my fiancé went to buy stamps for our wedding invitations as we had heard they were cheaper. Not only were they cheaper but we got to pick from a huge range of stamps and to top it off, we left with a wedding gift (very old stamp, I believe it was the 3rd stamp produced in the UK) which was such a lovely touch. We will be back!

Sauntered past Gustamps today and spotted some Pokémon stamps in the window. Popped in and Gus found them amongst billions of stamps in seconds. He very kindly gave me 3 sought after stamps for free!
I also stocked up on first class stamps, far cheaper than the post office and with great designs!
I can't recommend stopping by enough! Pop your head in just to see this unique little spot.

My dad needed some help with a collection of coins and visited GU Stamps. Whilst the gentleman there was only able to purchase a few of the coins from my dad he gave him lots of help on how to list the rest of them on eBay. Really nice gentleman and extremely helpful and knowledgable.

Pure gem within busy town of Brighton. Must stop place when you visit - wonderful collection of stamps, alternative choices for souvenir items

Brilliant shop to buy stamps and postcards from and excellent advice and service from Gus. Would recommend.

Gus is always super helpful when i come down to his store and is most certainly a stamp expert! Not only does he collect and sell rare stamps, he always educates me on the stamp i want/buying. Everytime I go his store i always come out with more than just a stamp. would 100 percent reccommend to anyone looking for rare/different stamps.

Great place, our favorite shop in Brighton. We visit Brighton every couple of weeks or so and now make a point of visiting Gustamps every time. Its just a fantastic shop with plenty of choice and amazing service.
U. M.
Excellent place Gus is very friendly and very knowledgeable.
Best place for 1st class stamps at only 50p each.
T. M.
Gus was very generous with his time, sharing his wealth of experience about stamps from every corner of the globe in his vast collection. Well worth a visit and I’ll definitely come back!

This was the nicest shop to stumble upon. The shop owner is such a nice gent and so kind and knowledgeable. I went in to buy a few international stamps to send some post cards home to friends and family and we got on to chatting about stamp collecting and he so kindly gave me some old stamps to add to my collection. Highly recommend!!
V. B.
We really enjoyed being welcomed as such, the owner is one of a kind ! Also there're stamps cheaper than at the post office ;)
J. A.
Fantastic little find, this place. Super friendly customer service. DEFINITELY going back for my stamps!
T. M.
A very knowledgeable and friendly service. We took my daughters stamps here to sell. The gentleman went through my daughters small Chinese stamp collection and gave a great price. Would recommend to anyone. The shop also had a great variety for the starter collector at very good prices. Five stars all day long.
C. M.
Amazing customer service from Gus. Cheap prices and helped me plan what stamps and how much to send for two parcels. Highly recommend!
S. Y.
The owner is nice and generous. Selling stamps with amazing prices too!
D. C.
Lovely shop, really friendly and enthusiastic owner. Any stamp that you can imagine, he have it.
My first stamps came from this shop.
G. T.
I’ve used this amazing little stamp shop many times in person and have now just made my first phone order. Hopefully my stamps will arrive in a couple of days with all stamps relating to music in some way.
The stamps are amazing value, always costing less than current first class stamps, but also add a quirky touch to any letters that I send.
Brilliant service and can’t recommend highly enough.
S. V. E.
Very kind and helpful person working there who listened to what we wanted and came up with all sorts of great products that we loved! He even gave us some things on the house which was really appreciated. Also he sells stamps at a price cheaper than the Post Office which will definitely be useful in the future. Great prices on the things we did buy too (stamps and vintage postcards) and nice bundles and stamp collector starter packs on display too which were very tempting! Definitely worth a visit!
N. G.
Gus was absolutely lovely and polite. Made us feel welcome the minute we stepped into his store. His knowledge and passion for stamps really shines through and made it that much more better of an experience. Gus sells stamps roughly 20% cheaper than the post office if you’re looking to purchase any!
The range of stamps Gus has are extremely interesting and the range is very broad, from different countries to different subjects and topics!
He also holds the first ever stamps made which are incredibly awesome to see.
If you go to Brighton you MUST give this lovely store a visit, you will not be disappointed and might learn something new :)

What a delightful little shop in the Lanes area of Brighton!! Went in to get a stamp collector something a little different and was met by Gus! Gus knows his stuff, been in the business for many years and is super passionate! I got some fab stamps for the collector and even left with some fabulous Japanese stamps for myself and a few rare stamps that may make me a pretty penny in the future!
Also another handy bit of info is Gus sells normal postage stamps way cheaper than the post office!! 5****
A. ..
Excellent place for a variety of stamps, postcards and envelopes for a brilliant rate. Gus is a wonderful man to talk with about the history and value of the stamps you’re purchasing and he has time for you, which is important to me, because it’s the second time I’ve walked into Gustamps and spent some time just looking through a fraction of the stamps/postcards. I’m going to make a habit of visiting every time I come down to Brighton. I’d rate higher than 5 stars if I could! Wonderful little place.
C. K.
Lovely little shop with a friendly and helpful owner. Fantastic selection of stamps - he has all sorts of gorgeous stamps that I've never seen before in my life. It's worth buying the 1st class stamps - they are much cheaper than the Post Office.
S. H.
Having no knowledge of stamps what so ever I phoned up Gustamps as i wanted to sell my late fathers stamp collection. I phoned up for some advise and was given so much help, he gave me an honest appraisal of the collection not only giving me a fair price for some of the stamps but also free advise as to the best way forward in selling the remained. in total he must have spent at least and hours on the phone going thorough the stamps with me and their value, with no benefit to him. Many thanks Gustamps!
C. S.
I visited Gustamps for a free valuation of a collection of stamps I'd inherited and I couldn't fault the service. Although the gentleman did not want to buy my stamps he was incredibly helpful and gave me a lot of his time to talk through the most valuable stamps and even gave me pointers on how to go about selling them. He was very knowledgeable and very friendly.
Regular 1st and 2nd class stamps are also sold here for cheaper than in the post offices / supermarkets so I will definitely buy stamps from here in future.
I would highly recommend Gustamps to anyone who needs pointing in the right direction !!!
J. B.
A wonderfully quirky place with every stamp you could ever imagine! I recommend visiting this place if your ever in Brighton. Gus is a really lovely man with a vast knowledge of all stamps, offering free valuations on any of your collections! You never know what hidden gem you might find! Also has an array of gift packs full of themed stamps, a perfect gift for any loved ones.
B. W.
I popped into Gustamps this morning with a friend, and had a wonderful experience. Gus was extremely knowledgeable and welcoming. He also sells Royal Mail Post Office stamps at a discount, which is amazing considering the price of stamps these days. I can’t wait to visit again when I’m next in Brighton.
T. 2.
Stumbled upon this shop today and we were not disappointed. The gentleman in the shop was knowledgeable, helpful, polite and very kind. He even gave me some stamps for my 6 year old to start her own collection and keep her interest with the idea of putting the stamps on a world map to see where the countries are (the stamps have the countries written on them). I bought some stamps and a coin for my collection and we left the shop very happy. Excellent customer service, if you're ever in the area then definitely make sure you pop in. Also you can get 1st class stamps cheaper than the post office so that's a bonus. 100% will visit again.
K. N.
A really nice shop! Me an my friend just wanted to buy some stamps and it became a really nice experience :) The stamps are cheaper than elswhere and we even got postcards for free. The shop owner was super friendly and showed us some of his collections. A good place for tourists who want to send some postcards to their family and collectors! Go visit it :D
T. Y.
My girlfriend and I visited the place this January. Her brother collects stamps and we have a tradition to buy stamps for him from every country we visit. We have travelled to quite some countries but we have never seen such variety, quality and effort put in one small shop such as this one. The owner was so kind and helpful that he made us want to collect stamps ourselves. Last but not least the price is really low for the quality and unique-ness of the stamps. I recommend it with both hands!
G. S.
As always I go here to buy discounted 1st class stamps (a real bargain). That shouldn't take long, but last time I spotted a couple of first day covers that would make simple gifts for friends (a real bargain at 50p each). I then got into discussion with the owner, who possesses a wealth of knowledge about stamps in general as well as what he has in stock. I left with four first day covers (a couple a bit more special than the 50p ones) and a mini-sheet of commemorative stamps. There are no rip-off prices, no flannel, just knowledge and experience that benefit the customer. This is the place to visit if you are interested in a bargain (save 15p on a 1st class stamp) or in getting your hands on some particular stamps at fair prices.
T. N.
This shop is brilliant. I went back there a few days ago to get first class postage stamps. I saved a fortune. Never , never buy stamps at the post office. As for the staff, always welcoming and helpful. I keep telling friends about this place.
J. B.
Lovely shop with amazing selection of quirky stamps - great for a thoughtful gift. Friendly and helpful staff. Very cheap stamps, discounted first and second class. I'm no collector but will definitely pop in next time I'm in town.
H. F.
Look, this is the coolest shop in Brighton by a mile. I could have been there all day choosing stamps!! 1st class stamps in vintage styles, all valid postage, for 55p. I won't be queueing at the Post Office to spend a fortune on standard ones anymore! I got a heap for my Christmas cards and am pleased as punch. Gus also gave me a collector's album for my toddler so she can have fun licking and sticking them too. Amazing!!
B. c.
A few days ago we hit Brighton for a much needed break from London,
a HUGE highlight was our visit to Gustamps shop. as a keen philatelist
i received a wonderful and informative service, I purchased great stamps at a truly wonderful price .. in a word : Awesome... I will be ( and already have) recommending this lovely shop to all my very keen Philatelist mates as I am positive they will enjoy the experience as much as I have..
Big Thank you Gus & looking forward to my next visit :)

We found this little shop and popped in for a browse as I have a collection and wanted some advice. Gustamps is an amazing little place and the lovely man draws you in with his enthusiasm. He is extremely knowledgeable and explains history to some of the stamps very clearly. We bought some stamps there cheaper than the post office and they are great fun with many lovely themes to them. I will definitely be going back to ask him to review my collection. Infact I plan on taking a special trip just for that. Highly recommended.
J. O.
What a find. My friend recommended this place as first class stamps are 55p instead of 70p, so very handy for Christmas cards. What I didn’t realise is they are cheaper because they are most all limited edition stamps. I didn’t have long to sift through the choices but I got some great Harry Potter ones. I asked after train stamps whilst I was there as my partner is a train enthusiast, however because the shop didn’t have the specific train I wanted the shop owner gave me a free envelope with a train stamp on it that commemorated 50 years of the Victoria line which I thought was lovely of him.

The shop is a real gem in the lanes. The owner is erudite about whatever you want to know about stamps, and the service is superb, professional and personal at the same time! Being served there was a delight, a learning opportunity and a privilege.
The review above was written 4 years ago and since then, I have been to Gustamps twice more. I can't recommend it highly enoughyou will definiately come back again whatever your purpose: for collecting, for evaluation, for investment, for gift ideas, or simply for some nice and different but cheaper stamps to use.

Me and my two siblings went into Gustamps last week on our trip to Brighton from London. Highly recommended as its a lovely place and full of so many different interesting stamps... Especially from the 1966, World Cup. I would just like to say a huge thank you for being some welcoming and educating us on the importance of keeping hold of stamps. If you are ever in Brighton this little shop is definitely a must! Thank you Gus, wish you all the best. Will definitely be visiting you again when we come back to Brighton. Georgia, Josh and Ruby from London.

Found this delightful stamp shop in the Lanes, Brighton today. What a treasure trove! The owner was so helpful and had a huge amount of different subjects of stamps at his fingertips.
He was the friendliest shopkeeper I have ever come across and was happily giving out free advice to a lady who was wanting to sell her stamp album.
I would definitely visit this shop again as it was the highlight of our day. There were lots of happy customers in there at the same time as us, who were also appreciating this lovely shopkeeper and his enthusiasm for his passion of stamps.
G. A. G.
Good, central location. First visit. Gus was very helpful and advised me on the various options of stamp storage. There were new and used versions of the type of stamp book I opted for. I chose a used stamp book, which was in very good condition and very reasonably priced. Gus gave me good advice on stamps and coins. Looking forward to visiting again.
K. V.
It was a real pleasure to visit this amazing shop and to chat to the owner about my grandfather's stamps collection. Everything was clearly explained to me and I was offered a fair price too. We took the opportunity to buy some discounted 1st class stamps, which was a real bonus.
Thank you so much.
M. H.
This is a great local shop selling all sorts of stamps. Added bonus is that Gus sells postage stamps at considerably less than the Post office price. I made a big saving for my Christmas cards mail out! Do support Gus, he is a most pleasant and helpful man and deserves your custom.
J. C.
Great prices for genuine postage stamps you can use and save a fortune plus stacks to choose from if you are a collector, friendly efficient service too, thoroughly recommend.
Still going, a great little shop whether you are a serious collector or just want stamps to use as real postage (yes it is legit and much cheaper than buying them at the post office!). Save so much money for Christmas cards and all general post!
R. L.
Gus is a very nice and helpful guy tans willing to give us advise and some souvenir stamps from HK. Definitely recommmended!
G.
Amazing shop, I was shocked to see so many different kind of stamps. The owner was very kind and helpful, he has a huge knowledge about stamps. Great customer service. I would suggest anyone to visit this shop and take a souvenir from best shop in Brighton!
A. M.
Gustamps has a wide array of National and international stamps for stamp collectors. They also sell UK Post Office genuine first and second class stamps at a large discount. You get the chance to choose from a large range of different (and often beautiful, entertaining and commemorative) designs. Great customer service too. Highly recommended.
J. S. E.
Delightful shop! We were drawn in by the window display and added some really beautiful antique stamps to our collection along with some new 1st class stamps (cheaper than the Post Office!) and a few vintage postcards. Gus was very helpful and incredibly kind to my children. We look forward to returning here on our next trip to Brighton!
A. V.
Fabulous experience visiting Gustamps yesterday. My Dad's and my collections were examined at length and Gus gave me a lot of advice, pointing out issues, and explaining a lot about stamp collecting. He offered a couple of options and I decided to sell the whole collection at a very good price. If you have stamps to sell, or want to buy stamps for your collection, or even for postage, you have to go to Gustamps. First class service, knowledge and value.
A. s.
Me and some friends randomly stumbled into this shop while walking around. It has been one of the major highlights of my time in Brighton. The owner was such a nice man and had an insane amount of beautiful and unique stamps. He was really interesting and nice to talk to. He even gave us some stamps free to take back as souvenirs! Also, it's a great place to buy stamps if you want to send postcards home because he's able to sell them cheaper than the post office.
A. H.
Charming shop selling new and used postage stamps. They offer discounted 1st class stamps that are valid for postage yet save you about 30% vs buying them at the Post Office.
Owner is a lovely chap and a pleasure to deal with. As well as saving money it's usually quite a quiet shop compared to the mammoth queues of tourists looking to post their postcards at the nearby post office. Win-win.
j.
I love going to Gustamps to buy my 1st class stamps. I send a lot of mail so it saves me quite a bit of money, PLUS the stamps are beautiful and so much more interesting than the normal post office ones. AND the gentleman who runs the shop is adorable, generous and genuinely helpful.
Couldn't recommend more.
j. h.
Gus is such a kind and helpful man! He gave us great, cheap prices on stamps and added in free post cards as well as giving us some amazing stamps for all around the world! Would highly recommend this shop to anyone interested in stamps, or anyone simply looking for postcards or stamps to send!!
Y. S.
Great selection of stamps, I visit Brighton especially so that I can pop by to buy stamps and have a chat with Gus or his daughter.
Lovely family run business, keeps writing and posting letters alive.
A shop to visit whether you're a local or tourist. Everyone likes receiving post especially in this day and age! I say as I write a Google review!!!
On a serious note, there's nothing like receiving post that is not a bill or speeding ticket!!! Enjoy choosing stamps.
R. B.
Wow! This amazing and interesting shop is run by the sweetest and friendliest man. Current 1st class stamps at incredibly cheap prices.
J. L.
Steeping into Gustamps is like stepping into a stamp wonderland! Perfect for anyone with an interest in stamps/art/history/travel - Gus will guide you through his epic collection and you will find beautiful and rare stamps with a story behind each one. Don’t forget to purchase first class stamps whilst you’re there and you will cleverly save yourself some pennies and enjoy the original designs!
s.
the sweetest server! my grandma bought lots of stamps and must have saved so much money! the man was so generous and even let me and my two siblings have some collectable disney stamps for free! so generous, definitely will come again!! shame his shop is so hidden, definitely worth the visit for good value stamps!
J. H.
Popped in to browse the selection and came out with a wonderfully-priced pack of travel stamps. Didn’t need any at the time but also sells Royal Mail stamps cheaper than in the shops. Gus is such a knowledgeable and lovely man. Will be back!
E. E.
I had a delightful visit to this extremely knowledgeable gentleman (gentleman in its true meaning) whose expertise reminded me of my father identifying butterflies at a distance and my doctor husband identifying a rashes. Gus both bought stamps and advised me about the others. He was extremely helpful and charming with it and it was certainly worth a trip to Brighton. If you have stamps or coins Gus is a must!
a. l.
The shop own is just so kind and sweet , go me into the whole new world of stamps! Got lovely gift as well!
P. R.
Fantastic selection of worldwide stamps and bargain prices for both the serious and casual collector.
Not to mention the bargain priced 1st Class stamps at 45p each - significantly less than the Post Office!
Definitely worth a hunt through the bargain box of First Day Covers at an incredible 50p price! If you are looking for very original birthday or anniversary gifts for very little money, this is highly recommended as the place for you.
A. H.
I found this little shop quite by accident and I am so glad I did. The owner (a very knowledgeable and helpful gentleman) immediately showed an interest in my stamp collection interests and set about finding many rare additions to my collections, all at very reasonable prices. All in all it was a very pleasurable experience and he even stayed open beyond his stated closing time and very patiently too. Highly recommended for a visit when you are in Brighton
J. M.
Went here with my partner so she could purchase some stamps for her grandad who is a keen collector. We found an absolute hidden gem in this place. This gentleman knew his stuff and his enthusiasm was infectious. The service we recieved was second to none and I would highly recommend this shop to anyone even for just a quick browse. We spent less than £5.00 and he even threw in some very nice stamps as a freebie.
J. W.
Great find for both stamp collectors and those wanting postage stamps. Gus is the friendliest person and his knowledge re stamps is great. Although small service area there are boxes of stamps behind the counter and Gus seems to know where everything is and will show you items to match your requests. I buy my 1st & 2nd class stamps there as they are sold at cheaper price and great choice re different designs. Just used mine to send Christmas cards and made me laugh to see the fruit & veg design stamps on them. Do use for your stamps, great service offered.
A. S.
Such a unique little shop in the heart of Brighton, and great value for money too! I popped in to buy stamps for my wedding thank you cards - the chap behind the counter was super friendly and really helpful. The stamps are beautiful and make a beautiful addition to an otherwise boring envelope! I would recommend this friendly little shop to anyone looking for something a bit different - and great value for money!
R. K.
We found the srote by accident and when we entered in we got lost in the enormous amount of stamps and miscellaneous collections. We have never seen such variety and diversity of stamps sorted in such logical way (by vehicles, flags, music, transport, countries, animals etc.)The onwer of the shop was extremely kind and nice person. Besides the low price (for such high quality stamps) he made us a gift - he asked us where we are from and he gave us very rare and unique old stamps from our country Bulgaria. We deeply recommend the shop not only to stamps collectors but to everyone else.
J. C.
Gustamps is a little gem of a shop in Brighton's South Laines where you can buy cheap(er) and very cheerful stamps! I always get a great bundle for christmas time and they are 20% cheaper than post office stamps. It's really nice to mix and match - as you can see I got a nice bunch. The man who runs the shop is really nice and helpful too!
S. S.
what a treasure trove of gorgeous stamps from all over the world. Gus is so knowledgeable and helpful and seems to love sharing the experience of finding wonderful things and at very reasonable prices. Its always a pleasure to go there to find interesting and unusual gifts.
K. D.
Brought a massive inherited collection in for a free valuation and whilst the stamps themselves weren’t of much value, I received fantastic advice from the friendly proprietor on how to sell them. He spent a lot of time with me and made sure I understood how to do what I needed to. There is also a large collection of stamps in the shop and would be a great visit for any collector. They also sell stamps for current use for less than you get in the shops or post office!
S. S.
Gustamps was the absolute highlight of my trip. My friends and I chanced upon this stamp shop and went in with curiosity (none of us being stamp collectors). Little did we know that that time spent in there would be so special.
The owner of Gustamps is a wonderful man. Despite us being such ignoramuses about stamps he personally took the time out to explain what and how it is done. His passion for stamps was seen not only in the wide variety of stamps he had but also in the extent of knowledge he carried with it. He asked us about our interests and found stamps that aligned to the same.
I could go on and on about my experience here. But in short this is it : Gustamps is a must go. It's the experience of just being there and the shear hospitality of the owner that makes it so special and unique.
Also : Gustamps sells first class postage stamps at 45p (as compared to the 63p by the post office).
C. F.
I was looking for a gift for my father, an amateur stamp collector, and the owner helped me to find the perfect stamps for him within my budget. He was very kind and generous, after this visit to Gustamps I wanted to start collecting stamps myself, and thanks to him maybe I'll do it!! I'll come back for sure.
H. B.
Every time I go to Brighton I make this one of my got to go to shops. The chaps in the shop are so friendly and knowledgeable. You can get 1st class stamps for 55p and they're not just normal 1st class stamps they are a massive variety. I got some fruit stamps, Dennis the Menace, Harry Potter the list goes on. Dont take my word for it...Make time to go there yourself, you wont be disappointed.
A. L.
Great little Brighton shop selling all sorts of international and historical stamps. I always buy my day to day first class stamps here now as Gus charges just 45p and you get to pick from a box full of designs.
This saves the bother of going to the post office, you save money, and you get a miniature piece of art too!
I was also given a handful of complimentary 17 1/2 p stamps and a much appreciated 5c Goofy stamp from St Lucia for my kid.
Great little place to pop in.
J. L.
I would give the shop owner double or treble the maximum star rating if I could.
He is an INCREDIBLY nice man, genuinely interested in helping others and in spending time with them. He looked at my childhood collection of stamps and whilst he couldn't offer to buy on this occasion, he took time to explain how I could make it saleable elsewhere and the wording to use. I cannot praise him enough and his shop is well worth visiting - whether you want to buy stamps or sell them!
L. M.
Really great shop - if you're looking for cheap stamps, this is the place to go. It's cheaper than the Royal post office plus you get the postcards free with your stamps. The shop has a great selection of extraordinary stamps, which will make any postcard or letter you send even more special. Thanks for the great service, I'll most certainly will be back!
D. B.
Can't but agree with the other reviewers that Gus is one of the most helpful guys going. We were in Brighton with friends and walking through the Lanes when we came across his shop. What caught my attention was the offer of postage stamps at a price substantially below that of the Post Office.
That was intriguing and potentially rewarding. It was. I bought a whole load of stamps and now know what to do.
K.
Lovely shop filled with all kinds of stamps, interesting to look around but also very practical. I bought some regular stamps which were much cheaper than the post office or my local supermarket where I would usually get them. There are lots of designed stamps too, relating to all kinds of interests; will add an extra special touch to Christmas cards to friends and family. Gus clearly knows his stuff and was extremely helpful. My husband also had a query about stamps we came into possesion of, we asked out of the blue thinking it was a long shot because we popped in on a whim yet Gus went above and beyond to offer insights and tips. We were very lucky to come across it and pop in and the experience will definitely stay with us. What a gem Brighton has, thank you Gustamps!

Totally recommend. I now regularly use as frugal place to pick up 1st class stamps for all my mailing needs. The fact that they are all slightly different is a massive bonus. Also boxes of stamps of all kinds to check out too. Worth poking ur nose in even if you’re not in the market for stamps (but you’ll probably not be able to resist at least one). Always great friendly attentive service too.

Feeling a little blue one sunny August day in Brighton, I noticed the window display in Gustamps and decided to go inside... Very glad I did. This is a wonderful shop with a very friendly, personable and knowledgeable proprietor. I don't know anything about stamps and had never thought to collect them before, but having sampled this shop and gone home with a selection of 100 beautiful bird stamps from around the world for just £4, I think I may well start. Would definitely recommend visiting this shop, who knows where it might take you?

I just loved it there! You feel very welcome from a minute you step into thia little and causy stamp shop. The man who is selling stamps is very kind and loves his customers. I told him that I need international stamps to post cards to my family and he showed me a nice option to choose from and also he gave bunch of beautiful old stamps to my niece as they had these cartoon and dog pictures on them. Loved it!:)
R. M.
Nicest man in Brighton! The owner very kindly spoke with me about the history of the stamps I was buying back in May. I bought some Olympic stamps and was generously given some free ones too! Such a lovely shop, I highly recommend!
W. R.
The owner was very knowledgeable and kind and extremely helpful - we bought a large number of stamps for cheaper than the post office sells them. I would thoroughly recommend their expertise and their customer service - definitely worth a visit!
A. J.
Lovely little stamp shop in the Lanes in Brighton.
Run by a very pleasant and knowledgeable man.
Even if stamps not really worth popping in just to see the great selection of unusual stamps he has from all over the world.
No pressure to buy anything just some good old fashioned customer service from someone who knows his business
K. T.
Gus was amazing! I’m visiting from America and ran across this shop while out in Brighton. My friend collects stamps so I thought this would be a great shop to stop in. I had the best time learning and asking questions about the stamps. Gus took the time to explain the stamps to me and was so excited to help me find the best gift! Thanks Gus!
R. G.
I popped in with my two small daughters simply as we walked past and saw stamps in the window. We were beckoned in by the owner and had a great time. Fantastic service and owner kindly allowed my two little girls to choose some Disney stamps for free, plus some others he said might be worth some money in a few years time. All in all, a really nice experience and lovely to meet such a passionate and friendly owner who cares deeply about his stamps and shop.
M. D.
Visited for the first time today after my family all having been in previously. Got some incredible Disney stamps, really cute mickey and Minnie ones, Cinderella, and Beauty and the Beast. Gus was really helpful and very patient with my excitement. Also bought some stamps that can be used for posting, cheaper than the post office and a lot more interesting. Will definitely be visiting again when I next make my way to Brighton.
A. C.
I recently inherited a stamp collection and came down today to get it valued. The shop owner was very patient and even closed his shop and explained the history behind the collection and where the original stamps came from. The shop owner was extremely friendly, patient and transparent. I made the decision to sell the stamp collection for £1400 which was an extremely good price. The whole experience was pleasant and I could not recommend Gustamps enough! Thank you once again for your fantastic service!
Z. P.
A brilliant place to buy cheaper stamps and with tons of designs to choose from. Also if you are looking for old-coin information Gustamps is the place to go. A stamp collector's haven, a proper Aladdin's cave! The owner also amazingly seems to never forget a face, as I was welcomed back on my return!
L. S.
We took four albums of an inherited stamp collection into the shop and even though the owner realised early on that he had no interest in buying any of the collection, he gave us so much fantastic advice on how to try and sell them. He was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Highly recommend his shop for all things stamps, which he also sell cheaper than the post office.
L. H.
This place is great! The stamps are so much cheaper, they're interesting designs and they work perfectly. The man who runs the shop is extremely nice and very knowledgeable. He even gave me and my friend an unopened letter which had been posted in the 80s without charge. Highly recommend popping in!
A. A.
I was thrilled to see such a huge collection of stamps in one of the quaint lanes of Brighton. The owner was very welcoming and very enthusiastic about his collection. If you're a stamp collector, i'd suggest you make your way to this shop! The service was amazing!
M. M.
Stamps at less than post office rates, and old first day covers for 50p, are reasons enough to visit. Gus is a great communicator and fun to listen to, as he talks to the various people who come in, and he always makes sure they are happy.. I am not really a collector but he convinced me I needed an 1840 two penny blue and made me an offer I couldn't refuse!
E. L.
Amazing shop, the owner has so much knowledge regarding stamps and he sells first class stamps cheaper then the post office. My husband and I visited the shop back in June 2016 on a visit from Australia, he gave us discount on a stamp album which was very much appreciated. We will definitely visit again in the future. Apologies for taking so long to leave feedback.
J. W.
A gem of a shop in the heart of Brighton. Sells first class stamps for less than the price of second class! Completely legal and a really beautiful, colourful collection to choose from. Owner will explain how - well worth a visit. Save money and time - beat the Post Office queues!
R.
Gus of Gustamps is a top bloke and extremely knowledgable. I don't know how he does it but he can find a stamp on any theme within minutes. On top of that normal stamps are a lot cheaper than the post office. I would recommend this shop to everyone looking to buy stamps or interested in visiting a one of a kind shop.
R. B.
Gustamps in Brighton was a great find, mainly because I needed a stamp and they sell first class special edition stamps at 3/4 the price of a normal first class one, and they are still valid. Brilliant, I'll have 8 please! Then the banter took us into music and he let me have a few limited edition blues related fist day covers... excellent! He (Gus) has so much to talk about and stamps about pretty well every topic. Magic to find a lovely shop like this
S. B.
I came across this shop by accident and the owner welcome me very friendly. He is an interesting guy with 60 years' stamp collection experience and very polite. He introduced me stamps from my country and give them for free!! I was so enjoying picking the stamps and finally got more interesting stamps. Very appreciated that visiting the shop in Brighton which enrich my trip in the city.
W. K.
Thank you for making our trip to Brighton really incredible and for all the complimentary (Disney & Lebanon) stamps! This really is a great store with amazing collections of stamps! The lovely gentleman who runs the store is extremely generous and gave us complimentary stamps! Definitely recommend going again!
P. K.
If you want a genuine unbiased opinion about your stamp collection, whether it’s your own or one that you have inherited, then Gus is the best man to see.
He is knowledgeable, friendly and helpful beyond belief. He will go out of his way to do his best for you and for your collection and advise you of the best course of action to take whether it be to give away, sell keep or auction. I can’t recommend highly him enough and the fact that he’s on our doorstep is even better.
And to top it all, You can buy regular postage stamps from him for a huge reduction under the current market value.
L. J.
Great little shop run by a lovely man who is always so nice to all his customers. You can buy 1st class stamps for 55p each and you also get the added pleasure of choosing them from a delightful variety of old stamps. I hope I never need to buy stamps from anywhere else again!
M. W.
A great place to visit in Brighton. I take my child there and Gus provides us with stamps that open our eyes to interesting new things to discover. One visit its trains and helicopters the next its cartoon characters and wildlife. My boy now loves sticking his new stamps into his collectors book and we all enjoy discussing the new subjects Gus has introduced to our family. Highly recommended even if you are not actually into collecting stamps.
H. B.
I contacted 'Gus Stamps' during lock down. Gus was so helpful and talked me through the albums that I had inherited. He gave me some great advice that I was very thankful for. I cant recommend Gus highly enough. Very nice gentleman.
T. F.
Such a fantastic shop run by a very friendly and knowledgeable gentleman, who greets you with a smile. I dropped into Gus's shop yesterday to get some advice on stamps I'd purchased from a boot sale and he helped me go through them to find which was the better and how to word them should I consider selling them at a later date.
A great place for the novice and more experienced philatelist to purchase or get advice on all manner of postage whether it be domestic or foreign.
E. W.
I stumbled across this little gem on my last trip to Brighton, initially I was just intrigued by the cheeper stamps offer on the door (winning!!)
But Gus also sells signature stamps that can be used on your normal post. Loads of different designs and icons. I got several rows of Mr Men stamps. Very excited to send friends birthday cards with an extra special touch!
P. K.
My eight years old daughter began to collect stamps. And so I ´m happy I discovered this little shop. I received a warm welcome and highly skilled and professional service. The shop owner is really nice and pleasant gentleman with enormous knowledge in his field. He will give you many advices and tips on collecting of stamps.
In the shop, you will find lots of collections with different themes (birds, ships, mushrooms, etc..) as well as collections from different countries.. I regularly visit Brighton, so I will definitely come back to the shop soon. And also he sells 1st class stamps for 45p, that is much cheaper than the Post Office full price of 63p.
J. P.
I stumbled across this shop in the Lanes of Brighton. Very helpful and knowledgeable owner. I purchased a few items of early Postal History at very reasonable prices.
There are not many Stamp shops left and so it is well worth a visit for all you collectors!
B. B.
Excellent shop. Gus has stamps for sale cheaper than those at the post office. You can pick the ones you like from a decent selection and he is happy for you to take your time/ chat even if you aren't buying very much. He told us some fascinating stories behind some of the stamps he had. We were there longer than expected but a thoroughly enjoyable experience.
A. T.
I was recommended to visit this shop as it was possible to buy cheaper 1st class stamps (approx. 1/3 off current price). Gus is a very kind and knowledgeable person. Would highly recommend a visit if not only to purchase cheaper stamps.
J. H.
Very friendly and knowledgable man. Gave us some great advice and was a delight to talk to.
Cheaper stamp prices than the post office!
Was the highlight of my day in Brighton. We stumbled across the shop and were taken aback by welcoming Gus was.
Thanks Gus!
S. B.
Great place to buy cut price 1st and 2nd class stamps. We have used many times when visiting Brighton and even taken stamp collections there to sell. Great service from a really friendly guy who knows his stamps.
S. “. M.
Amazing place with a delightful gentleman looking to find the stamp you wish. From rare to normal posting stamps he has everything and serves with a smile and polite candour. will always by my stamps here now as so much cheaper than the post office with lots of pictures to choose from rather than just the monarch’s head.
B. Z.
Brilliant little shop tucked away in the Lanes of Brighton. Owner was very attentive and patient, and even gave me and my friend some free souvenirs at the end (mind you those are some 100-year old stamps). Haven't seen any shop quite like this. Definitely worth a visit if you're at all interested in stamps
S. H.
I live in Brighton and have seen Gustamps for many years but never visited. My grandson has just started a stamp collection and is particularly interested in stamps from Russia. The owner was so kind, helpful and knowledgeable. Whilst I was there the owner took a couple of telephone enquiries and I was very impressed with his knowledge and courteous manner. It is a fascinating shop and I will visit it again with my grandson when he comes to stay with me - he was really delighted with the stamps I sent him. Thank you Mr. Owner!
D. S.
Lovely shop run by a most charming and generous man.
Definitely worth a visit.
Update! Visited again today to receive the same courtesy, charm and excellent value for money!
Visited again in the last few days.
Got some lovely 1st class stamps, perfect for personalizing mail. Stand by my 5 star review.
M. d.
It makes sense to visit this place to buy your first class stamps as it is 20p cheaper than the usual places. The owner also talked about stamp collecting for my little daughter and even gave me some free foreign stamps to start her collection. It bought back memories as I used to collect stamps when I was little too. Thank you and I will definitely recommend to my colleagues at work.
h. L.
This is an amazing, fantastic and lovely store. The owner is very kind and friendly, if you have any question, just ask! He'll answer patiently, if you fancy stamp, you'll love here!! You also can get the cheaper stamps than post office!!
C. B.
As recommended the shop to help me with some information on a coin I had. Very welcoming and knowledgeable. He even showed me some stamps of my idol (Audrey Hepburn). Has a massive and extensive collection. I could have spent hours there, Gus (who owns it) it a lovely man and I wouldn’t hesitate to go back or to recommend this store.
M. J.
Met this amazing little man called Gus in his stamp shop who was very helpful to me and gave me free advice. I had been searching for Someone to give me a Price on my collection and wow i found this shop on a visit to Brighton.
Don't miss the opportunity to visit or call him for anything as he will always help you out. Thank you and will come and see you again soon.
K. W.
A lovely little shop in the Brighton Laines. Gus was so friendly and helpful, he listened to what I wanted and helped me find the exact thing I was after! He has a huge variety of different stamps and postcards. I would definitely reccomened visiting this shop.
H. S.
This place is a gem. Stamps from every corner of the world, novelty stamps, historic ones, nature, music, film etc. He had stamps going back over a hundred years. Pretty much everything is 50 pence or less. Gus even threw in a few stamps as a gift for my pops. And if you need regular stamps for mailing out of The UK, Gus sells them cheaper than the post office!
A. S.
My wife and I stumbled across Gustamps and we were both thrilled! It's such a wonderful shop, run by an incredibly welcoming, generous and knowledgeable gentleman. A perfect place for both seasoned philatelists, novices and anyone looking for an unusual or thoughtful gift with an interesting backstory and a good bit of trivia. Highly recommended!
J. C.
We popped in for the offer on first class stamps, and came away with a gorgeous set of pretty ones for 45p each! We chose a bunch of first class ones from a miscellaneous selection, and then the lovely shop gent brought out a set of story book stamps for us. Fantastic customer service, so please take a look in when you're in Brighton... we'll definitely be back!
S. W.
Surprising little find while shopping around Brighton. Friendly staff and very helpful in answering questions regarding specific new rumored stamps coming in the future. If you are in the area and looking to purchase stamps (any type of stamps) pop in here as the stamps are sold cheaper than anywhere else. Definitely will pop in when we are next in the area.
M. A.
Always feel like I want to keep quiet about this wonderland because I want ALL the stamps to myself! Always buy more than I plan and see more that I want on my next trip. Old school Customer Service, Gus knows his stamps and amazingly where they all are! Visiting Brighton, drop in, you won't be disappointed.
T. F.
I've had the happy situation of dealing with Gustamps for years. My specialised stamp collection has been truly enhanced with the professional advice, recommendations and reasonable prices that I've received from Gustamps. Check out their website for opening times. May I have many more great discussions and deals, thank you Gus.
S. W.
A brilliant little gem of a shop in the heart of Brighton. Gus is a lovely knowledgeable fellow and the stamps are a very good price. Well worth a visit before Christmas, for a choice of interesting first class stamps
D. F.
We were just looking to buy a couple of first class stamps for postcards and stumbled across this little gem of a place. We were almost embarrassed to ask for just two stamps when we went in and saw the huge collection in there but we were soon put at ease and given the type of service that I didn't think existed anymore. What a wonderful man, with so much knowledge, passion and kindness. We were totally blown away and have been talking about our experience in the shop every day since.
G. &. L.
A real local gem. You can buy valid first-class stamps for 50p which is much cheaper than the post office (and also even cheaper than a second class stamp!) Not only that, you can also choose from a huge array of interesting designs. There was a whole bunch of stuff that I looked through and found it quite hard to choose because they were all so fun and nice! Also the owner was really friendly and helpful and he very kindly gifted me 2 free commemorative stamps. What a true gentleman. I am embarrassed to say that this is my first time visiting Gustamps even though I've lived in Brighton for 10 years ... will definitely be making a point of supporting this great local business from now on - and would encourage others to do the same!
S. A.
Such a great little shop with a very good range of stamps at all prices - some really cheap sets which are great for kids starting up. The owner is very friendly and helpful. Best tip - they sell 1st class stamps all designs for 45p (20p cheaper than the Post Office and much nicer designs!)
l. s.
Such a nice shop! My friend an I went to get some Europe Stamps and they were cheaper than the ones they sell at the Post Office. The owner is very friendly and even gifted us some stamps and postcards !
V. O.
A great find in Brighton. Discount 1st class and other denominations Royal Mail stamps. I love being able to choose interesting and colourful designs. Great service from Gus..always cheery and welcoming
S. E.
Fantastic service! Free valuations and assistance - Gus is incredibly knowledgeable. Did you know you can buy first and second class stamps 20p cheaper than anywhere else!
P. D.
We went in to this little shop for some help on where we could get information on how to get coins valued and left with a whole lot of new helpful and interesting knowledge of coins and how to sell them even though the very friendly and knowledgably shop owner had nothing to gain as he sold old and new stamps .
If you are looking for stamps then you are in for treat because this is his real business and we watched him dive into his real passion when other customers came in looking for stamps of which there are thousands of.
This little shop is what makes Brighton so special and the owner makes the shop .
S. J.
This has been a brilliant find for us. First class stamps are sold at 55p from a huge variety of designs and collections. Gus, the proprietor is a delightful, knowledgeable gentleman who loves what he does. Do go and visit him.
M. M.
What a lovely shop. I took my son there in the summer as he was becoming interested in stamps. The guy was so kind and informative and even gave Theo some free stamps to start his collection. Shops like these are a one off!
Z. M.
This business is so great! The owner is informed, polite, friendly and generous with his knowledge and time (if you need it). He sells postable first and second class stamps at a discount - all legitimate and still usable as he buys unwanted stock from trade. Aside from that he sells from a HUGE collection of beautiful used stamps at all sorts of accessible prices. It is great for serious collectors, or for people just wandering in with a casual interest, like me! Something to look at for 5 minutes has turned into a renewed interest in collecting beautiful stamps again - thanks Gus!
T. W.
Very friendly and helpful service. I was looking for some cheap postage with more interesting designs to send some birthday cards and I found it here. Stamps never expire and many stamp collections are worth less than their face value so don't go anywhere else for postage, buy "collectors" item stamps with interesting and vintage designs on to use as 1st class postage andd get about a 10-15% discount on your postage!
A. D.
Gustamps is such a lovely little shop, and the knowledge is second to none! Over heard him on the phone also discussing coin prices, very honest and trust worthy! Stamps are also cheaper than the post office which is great!
C. R.
Save on postage costs
Gustamps sells first class stamps for 45p each, meaning you can save significantly on postage if you buy your stamps there rather than at the Post Office. These are new, fully gummed unused stamps. Service is excellent too! I like to drop by whenever I'm in Brighton.
M. S.
I buy all my 1st class stamps at Gustamps. Friendly guy brilliant price for 1st class stamps saves me money as I do a lot of posting for the charity I volunteer with. Love all the variety of stamps CHEAPER than what you would buy from other shops and post office - gives the receiver a more interesting stamp. Thanks.
K. H.
Brilliant stamp shop. Highly well informed Philatelist who knows his stamps and has a dictionary of stamps by country, theme or famous personality in his head. I'm not a big stamp collector however, a lot of them make for a wonderful gift for a friend or relative interested in something or someone.
Also, for the people who need postage stamps, he sells first class postage stamps for 45p whereas the post office itself sells them at 63p which will add up on savings over time.
And finally, he was a wonderful man who took time out for us to give us a quick masterclass on stamp collection for interest and investment and I enjoyed it a lot. Brilliant stuff.
A. H.
This is a great little hidden gem located in the Lanes of Brighton. I was lured in by the Pokemon stamps in the window and ended up learning a lot, as well as coming away with some awesome stamps! Gus is passionate and incredibly knowledgeable about seemingly every kind of stamp, and his kindness and expertise were especially welcome to a novice like me. Cannot recommend this shop enough!
I. B.
Great place!!! I could help really nice stamps , and the have a huge variety!!!
C. M.
An absolutely fabulous stamp shop. Gus is so helpful and he certainly knows his stuff. Really helped my niece out who was after stamps to reflect her British and European holiday.
Thank you Gus, you are a true gentleman!
I. L.
This place is AMAZING no exaggeration! This shop has all different and exotic stamps which is great for very passionate stamp collectors! They are at low prices ( even lower than the post office) and they will have anything combined with a stamp. The gentleman was very generous, kind, helpful and quick. Thanks it was AMAZING 😄😄
G. M.
This is a great shop and the gentleman running it is really knowledgeable and nice! We needed a few stamps, which we got at a discounted price, and we also got to learn a lot about stamps. If you're in Brighton, go and visit this lovely shop!
L. C.
Chanced upon this lovely place while walking The Lanes while I was in Brighton early this week. Very helpful owner and large selection of wonderful stamps. Few places left of this vintage. I highly recommend and will return myself when I’m next in UK.
n. l.
Great shop with a vast range of stamps. The man that works here is really helpful and informative. Will definitely shop here again. Next time I will take my son who is just getting into stamp collecting, he will be amazed!
B.
Visited Gustamps shop last saturday and what a surprised ! He will sell you stamps for cheaper price than at post office and beautiful ones, you can ask him any themes he will have them. Plus the owner is very kind and passionate, he had so many story to tell us, gave us lot of free stamps for our collection. Such a wonderfull person with a big heart, if only all shops could be like Gustamps !
H. C.
This is such an amazing find! A treasure trove of stamps and really good value too. I was offered some really good advice for free and made welcome to ask for more. It's a really interesting shop and Gus is really friendly and knowledgeable. Also, they sell current postage stamps for way way less than the post office! I'd definitely recommend calling in to see for yourself.
A. P.
We went in looking for cheap 1st class postage stamps and came out with a new-found enthusiasm for stamps! Gus is an absolutely charming, knowledgeable and generous man who provided us with a fascinating history of collecting and tips for stamp investment. We had a fab time and will definitely be back - both for the cheap postage stamps and for more tips! A great Brighton institution. THANK YOU GUS!!!
M. M.
What a wonderful place! Originally went in just to buy some postage stamps (as they are a great deal cheaper than the post office) and ended up staying for almost an hour. A real treasure trove for stamp collectors and non-collectors alike. Gus is hugely knowledgable, as you might expect, however what's wonderful is the stories he tells of the historical significance of many of the stamps he sells. He seems more than happy just to chat with you regardless whether you'd like to buy or not. Worth a visit if you have a few minutes (beware you may stay longer than you intended). Note: for stamps collectors his prices are incredibly reasonable.
j. s.
Gus is friendly and helpful and the stamps are great value. The valid 1st class stamps are a bargain and cheaper than 2nd class. We visit whenever we're in Brighton; it's too good to miss.
S. F.
Wonderful little shop - charming owner who gave us a very warm welcome and was really kind, sharing his knowledge and enthusiasm. An absolute MUST to visit if you're wandering the Lanes. We walked in with no interest in stamps and walked out with some amazing stamps - having had a great and memorable experience all thanks to Gus and his kindness! Thanks Gus!
E. C.
This place is such a great find! Not only are the stamps cheaper than the post office but they come in all sorts of fun designs. Would definitely recommend a trip before sending out your Christmas cards 😉
M. Y.
I found some lovely sets of stamps and they were very well priced. The owner was also very nice and stayed open late (as we arrived at closing time). He had an impressive collection of regular collectible stamps as well as niche ones like royal mail star wars stamps, disney stamps etc.
X. Y.
An amazing find! A hidden gem tucked away in a corner in Brighton which we unexpectedly stumbled upon when making our way to the Lane. Strongly recommend stamp collectors to drop by; Gus has a fantastic collection of stamps of all sorts and first day covers and from different countries. He even beats my grandfather's Malaysia stamp collection back home. You are also in for a treat as he sells usable first class stamps at 46pence and is generous with giving you souvenirs in the form of stamps before you leave.
K. B.
Such a brilliant little independent gem. Beautiful 1st class stamps ( as well as rare ones) at a fraction of the price you'd pay at the post office. Gus is a great chap-do pay him a visit!
C. H.
Went into this shop for a stamp to send a letter as it advertised that it was cheaper than in Royal mail places. What I got was much more...
I was greeted by Gus, who was as lovely as they come. He was so helpful, and clearly has a vast knowledge of stamps and will be able to find you ANY themed stamp you may desire: Doctor who, Russian Brutalist, border collies, turkish, North Korean classical music....the list goes on. Such a brilliant experience going in this shop and I shall surely be back again! If you're in need of stamps, GO TO GUSTAMPS!
K. P.
I stepped into this shop yesterday and it was a gem of a find. The owner and shopkeeper is the most kind and loveliest of people you will meet. He was very enthusiastic and helped me not only to find some interesting FDCs, but also awesome stamps from abroad (Harry Potter themed) and gave me great advice. It was honestly the highlight of my last visit to Brighton. I cannot suggest this shop enough and there are not enough compliments I can say about the owner.
F. S.
Really nice experience at Gustamps! He took time to explain us how to start a stamps collection. It was really interesting. He has a large collection of stamps from all over the world. As a Canadian, I was really happy to see his Canadian stamps collection. I had a real nice time there. I strongly recommend this place to any tourist!
J. C.
My friend and I visited Brighton for a day last week. We collected a bunch of postcards to post to our friends and we were on the lookout for some cute stamps to go along with our cute postcards!
We stumbled upon this gem of a shop with a pleasant owner who was friendly and very knowledgeable. We only wanted stamps to begin with but we ended up leaving with more postcards!
If your in the area we definitely recommend to check out Gus's shop!
S. K.
A unique spot in the Brighton Kaine's selling vintage stamps, grab a bargain first class stamp or browse the beautifully curated collections but together by the friendly owner. Highly recommended for any stamp enthusiast and if you're not into stamps you might just start collecting after a visit to this shop.
y. z.
Gustamps was the first stop that I visited in the lanes. I had a great time there. The owner was so nice to us and is very knowledgeable on overseas stamps. He offered us a very good deal on old Chinese stamps. We will definitely come back again.
O. P.
Have just moved to Brighton in the past few weeks and as a philatelist and first day cover collector I’ve been looking for a new stamp shop to make my ‘regular’ as it were. By chance came across gustamps when looking in The Laines, and I really had a pleasant surprise. Excellent prices and selection, and Gus is such a lovely guy, he really could not have been more helpful and polite. Will definitely come back again soon!
C. B.
This shop is an absolute gem and a must visit in Brighton. Gus is incredibly knowledgeable and although I just went in with my boyfriend out of curiousity we exited with big smiles on our faces and having gained very interesting information on world war 2 and pinnacle points in history!! He was so kind he even gave me a set of stamps for free, they are so reasonably priced and he treats every customer with incredible attention!
R.
Visited today to sell old stamp collection. Very friendly service and fair price. Make the effort to find this specialist store whether you are new to stamp collecting, a seasoned collector or just selling an old collection. You can check the opening times on google. While i was in there a customer came in to start a collection for his 12 year old. On top of the stamps he bought Gus gave him two free first days covers to help start her interest.
Highly recommended.
F.
Amazing save on 1st class stamps and they're collectable! Lovely guy, very helpful. Thoroughly recommend for those who want to save a bit on stamps generally and collectors. Wish I'd brought some old stamps with me to value. You won't find another place like this in Brighton.
D. J.
Gus was polite and helpful as he went through our large, inherited stamp collection. He offered a fair price for the stamps he purchased, which was most of them, showing us catalogue prices and explaining why some stamps had a value and others didn't. As he said, he has 60 years experience in this business!
D. B.
This is a brilliant shop. I went there with my children and the owner was so kind to them and was so keen to pass on his passion and fantastic knowledge for stamp collecting. You can also pick up 1st class stamps for 45 pence and choose from a range. This is really worth a visit.
D. D.
Came across this fantastic stamp shop by chance while browsing 'The Lanes' in Brighton. Owner had a wealth of knowledge and his customer service was excellent and personal, which is a rarity these days. Selection of stamps available is great and browsing/searching is definitely better and more informative than the web. I will certainly be returning soon.
C. P.
Going into this strange little shop made our day. There are boxes of postage stamps everywhere. Gus, the proprietor, is clearly passionate about stamps and amazingly knowledgeable about them. He recommended a certain type of stamps as an investment for our grandchildren and kindly gave some to us. Time will tell of course but what a great gesture. Gus also sells first class stamps at 45 pence instead of 63 pence.
R. F.
I took my boyfriend for the first time last week. We only went to pick up some stamps (cheaper than the post office!) But were in there for a good 20 minutes chatting to the charming shop owner. Hes so kind and clever! And his knowledge reaches far past stamps. He gave my boyfriend free football stamps and chatted for ages about them. I got a dozen first class stamps with different designs which would make a fun, quirky and practical gift or brighten up any item of post

Great experience visiting Gustamps in Brighton. Very warm and welcoming service and really happy with my purchasers of first class stamps and postcards. Ideal for all my competition entries!
E. C.
Such a lovely stamp shop. We initially went in for a browse and left with some amazing stamped envelopes from 1916. We got so much advice about selling stamps and buying stamps. The owner has such a genuine interest and happy to chat about everything.
R. F.
Gustamps is a real treasure trove!!I just bought all the stamps I need for sending Christmas cards and wedding invites and apart from the fact that they are a lot cheaper than ones from the post office, they are also brilliant designs! Vintage stamps are the way to go! Gus was also really helpful and I will be sure to go back! :-)
G. B.
Fantastic stamp shop for both keen philatelists and also people looking for excellent bargains in current U.K. Postage stamps - Gus can undercut the post office. Currently (Jan 2017) 40p for a second class stamp - real price 53p. You can make fantastic savings ! Quirky shop with a very knowledgable and friendly owner. Can't recommend it highly enough !
K. B.
Think this place may be run by the nicest, friendliest, most generous man ever! As newbies to the stamp collecting world not only did he find stamps on every interest we could think to name, but he also gave us some more 'investment' type pieces for free :) Extremely knowledgeable about the stories behind the stamps and had some great advice on collecting. We ended up with a great selection of stamps, including many freebies! And for actual current UK stamps the price was better than the post office! We'll be back :)
S. V.
Once again I wasn't disappointed on my visit to gustamps to replenish my 1st class stamps stock. Lovely choice of pretty stamps at bargain prices. The guy in the shop was a true gentleman, helpful and pleasant as always.
G. A.
Visited with Gus in his stamp (Philately) shop today and had a great experience. He’s knowledgable, helpful and friendly with a large stock or started stamps.
Go there with your wanted list and Gus will try to help you complete it at a reasonable cost

I inherited a small collection of stamps and was given an honest appraisal. Those that were of interest I was given a very fair price for and those that weren't I was advised as to how best sell them through ebay. In fact the wording for an excellent description for selling them on line was dictated word by word to me which was of great help and I was even given some stamps to boost my collection and help me sell it on line. Thank you so much!
A. A.
What a treasure in the Brighton lanes. Went in just as a curiosity and met the sweetest shop owner. Gus was so knowledgeable and helpful asking what types of stamps we may be curious about. He even gave us some stamps from around the world! Whenever I'm back in Brighton I definitely will be heading back here.
W. Y.
The owner is really really nice and he is very kind. Me and my friend had ask him thousands of question and he kept on showing us his stamps, this is not because he wants us to buy it, it's because to show how much he loves collecting stamps and to show his passion towards stamps!!!! If you go to Brighton, you must visit that shop.... If you are a stamp collecter, YOU MUST VISIT THAT SHOP!!!!!!
V. M.
What a fabulous shop with a lovely knowledgeable friendly owner, Gus. He is only too happy to give you lots of his time and expertise. I also learned something new, you can buy lovely 1st class stamps with pictures on at a discounted price from him to use on current post. His shop is only a 2 minute walk away from The Lanes Car Park.
J. P.
What a joy it was to meet Gus yesterday. I called on him to ask for advice on an old stamp album I was thinking of giving to charity or perhaps selling. Gus gave of his time and expertise freely and his knowledge of stamps was amazing. I was inspired by my visit. Anyone interested in stamps, do go there or just pop in and buy your 1st class stamps at 25% reduction! Amazing.
K. D.
Fantastic shop and friendly owner. I always go here to get first class stamps. They are only 45p each compared to the Royal Mail price of 65p, and I love the interesting designs!
J. L.
I visited Gustamps in Brighton yesterday and was blown away with how knowledgeable and helpful Gus (the owner) was. He spent a whole hour valuing my stamp collection and gave me advice on how to get the best prices if I am (which I am) looking to sell them. Gus has worked in the stamp industry for 60 years so he spots things that others don't such as the particularly valuable items, often because of unintentional imperfections.
I tried a couple of other stamp dealers and was bitterly disappointed in their lack of thoroughness, attention (lack of) to detail and very poor valuations.
Go and see Gus, particularly if you want an honest evaluation of your collection, and mention my name...
M. D.
Lovely little shop with great customer service and every day postage stamps cheaper than any high street shop or post office
W. G.
This is a very amazing shop which sell the stamp! The service was really amazing and I had a very good experience. And also I learned a lot of knowledge about stamps, if you like collect stamps or you want to buy a very good and valuable present for your friends or family, this shop will be a very good choice!
K. P.
Amazing Value!! Very friendly and helpful! Cheap stamps
D. T.
Sells old valid postal stamps cheaper than at post office. Ideal for those Christmas cards that need to be sent 🙂Fantastic range of old stamps and sells old coins as well. Service friendly and helpful.
S. F.
I contacted Gus about some advice on selling some stamps, even with the shop being shut due to Covid 19 and being on Lockdown as a high risk category, he called me back straight away and gave me some invaluable advise regarding stamp valuations. Extremely helpful and couldn't do enough to help. Would recommend to anybody.
Thanks again
C.
Cheap postage stamps - perfect for those of us who still like to send a card through the post and not via the internet. Well worth a visit - you'll regret it if you don't pop into this shop to stock up. Would definitely recommend it.
Z. Y.
This is definitely a place you don't want to miss in Brighton! We walked into the shop just out of curiosity, but it turned out to be one of the most unforgettable memories here. The owner of the shop is a gentleman who gave me and my friends ten old Chinese stamps each for free as gift after knowing that we were from China. We are so moved by his generosity and his passion for stamps. This place certainly deserves more attention!!!
S. H.
A fantastic experience. We visited the shop yesterday and were given a great service from a helpful, friendly Assistant who answered all of our questions and was able to give us a lot of information about the historical and cultural background of the stamps. He gave us some great animal and war stamps. Will definitely go back there.
G. G.
Can't tell you what a surprise I had when I walked into this little shop. The friendly owner Gus was so welcoming, it made me want to stay and browse. I am by no means collector but I did want to buy some particular stamps. Gus produced them in seconds and was very generous with the deal we made. I highly recommend this friendly, well stocked and fascinating shop.
N. C.
What a quirky find! Stores like this are rare. The gentleman helping my 5 year old son and I was so kind and welcoming and gave my son his first introduction to stamp collecting. Something my son did not know even existed! Was so fun to look through vintage space theme stamps and more. Thank you!
S.
This is such a great little shop! It is stacked floor to ceiling with boxes containing hundreds and thousands of stamps, and you are absolutely spoilt for choice. The shop owner is very enthusiastic and offers fantastic deals on the stamps. I'm so glad to have found this little gem and I will definitely be coming back very often!
T. J.
Just visit this Philatelist for expert and friendly information about stamps from around the world. Gus the owner is so knowledgeable and told us the story behind the stamps he provided us. It made our visit to Brighton very special. He also sells first class stamps much cheaper than the post office. Don't pay 67p when you can pay only 50p from here!
G. T.
I visited this shop with a view to selling some first day covers, Gus was very knowledgeable and friendly and he gave me a fair price for them. Great Little shop, they also sell stamps cheaper than the post office !
O.
Best stamp shop!
went into this little shop and spent way too long than expected. the owner is such a friendly and knowledgeable man, he was patient with us and provided truly useful advice. He seems to know where everything exactly is although the shop is full of I'd say millions of stamps. He's passionate about his business and gave us amazing prices. The shop would be the only reason I ever go to Brighton again:)
H. S.
Amazing surprise to find this shop. Gus has an amazing array of old and new stamps (cheaper than post office). But most pleasent conversation and got our young daughter interested in stamps...
N. M.
I took my daughter in to look at the huge selection of stamps. Gus was lovely and gave a few stamps to her. She spend ages going through them all and enjoying the shop. Now she is a keen stamp collecter and wants to go back. The sets of 100 stamps are beautiful to look at and she has been showing them off to everyone. Such an enjoyable experience.
J. G.
The finest little gem in all the laines.
Gus always warmly welcomes all to his wonderful shop.
My second time there, Gus remembered my beautiful worthless stamp collection I inherited and we laughed. I had to call in again and find something special to add to it.
It will not disappoint!
C. B.
Wonderful store and amazing customer service. Gus is knowledgeable, passionate about stamps and has patience of a saint as I sifted through his vast collection of vintage Indian stamps for a gift. Highly recommend.
h. w.
Chanced upon gustamps while walking along the streets of Brighton. It didn't feel like a shop, it felt like a workshop but instead of tools, there are just massive amounts of stamps. I can imagine a stamp collector spending a day in there, interacting and sharing with Gus. I myself, who had no prior knowledge or interest in stamps spent an hour in there. I'm deeply impressed with Gus's passion, knowledge and generosity. His words and knowledge shared were definitely worth more than the stamps I purchased :) Definitely a highlight of my trip to Brighton!!
D. M.
Knowing nothing about stamps and having recently lost my mother to cancer, I needed a valuation of my father's stamp collection (he passed away 10 years ago) for probate purposes. I rang Gustamps and he agreed to do a free valuation estimate the same day. The dealer quickly reviewed the two cases of stamps, and provided the estimate, while dealing with other customers calling in to the shop and offering them good advice and service. Most of the stamps in my father's collection were of low value, a few were of interest but in poor condition. Gustamps advised the price he would pay for those of value and offered to provide free advice to maximise the value of the remainder on the usual online auction site. Excellent service in a wonderful shop surrounded by stamps of all sorts.
M. P.
Absolutely brilliant little find on our trip to Brighton today! Excellent customer service, he knew loads about the Pokemon stamps I asked about. Such a huge range and unbeatable prices. Thank you very much!!
C. T.
The stock of unique stamps is astounding, the man in charge is very friendly and helpful, and the prices are cheaper than the Post Office. What more could you want? I go there for all my stamps now as it's really close to my workplace too.
T. J.
My friends and I were taking photos in front of this shop and the owner was very welcoming. He gave some stamps for us without any charges and we even got to pick. I think it would be the starting point for me to collect stamps. The animal ones are so lovely.
Y. S.
What an incredible little shop! I went in to purchase 1st class stamps which turned out to be 30% cheaper than Royal Mail AND I got to choose from a huge box of different designs - there were stamps with Harry Potter, Kew Gardens, Lord of the Rings, Jellyfish and Birds and some with jokes on, amongst others. I could spend hours in there - what a pleasant experience. Thoroughly recommended!
Q. M.
Myself and two friends stumbled upon this wonderful little place whilst exploring Brighton. We originally stopped in just to pick up some postage stamps in order to send home a few postcards to loved ones, instead we were given a very intriguing and valuable history lesson on the hobby of stamp collecting. I found the history behind the stamps to be very interesting as it was something I was completely unaware of. The man was even kind enough to give my friends and I a few valuable stamps to start our own collections! It was a very pleasant experience that I would undoubtedly recommend to anyone who travels to Brighton. Especially if you love history as much as I do!
B. R.
Just happened on this shop. Amazing. Lovely atmosphere, stamps everywhere, kind, helpful and knowledgeable proprietor. Go there!
PS get your postage stamps 25% cheaper than in the post office. How?
w.
I went in to buy a stamp to post a letter rather than for a stamp collection. The owner was friendly pleasant and helpful and gave me a choice of different stamps for my letter. He is able to sell them at a reduced rate so well worth going in even if you need a stamp for a letter. I don't know anything about stamp collecting though.
N. B.
This shop is absolutely first class, I received great advice on my Royal Mail Miniature Sheet collection. Gus is a genuine and charming man. I highly recommend a visit.
j. r.
Gus very kindly values and buys stamps from us at Cancer Research Brighton. I popped by this week and bought some more lovely First Class stamps for the price of Second Class - no need to wait for Xmas!! Thank you Gus :)
V. D.
Visited the shop today and it was amazing to see how the owner manages to keep the stamps in such a small place. Gus is very friendly and knowledgeable when it comes to stamps. Offered a great price for what i was looking for. A must visit place if you planning to visit Brighton!
K. W.
An incredibly informative and enjoyable experience from start to finish - and we saved a relative fortune on stamps for all our Christmas cards. Not only that, but 'gustamps' was very generous, providing us with topical stamps and collectibles for all the family, a great little addition to the Christmas list. Thank you, Mr Gustamps, for a customer experience which is almost unheard of these days - personal and of the highest quality.
f. c.
Great shop with a really amazing selection of stamps. Definitely worth visiting if you’re an expert collector or just starting out. Very friendly and helpful.
O. V.
Wonderful place with a sweet, welcoming person selling interesting stamps. I found truely amazing old stamps here, and got a bonus present from the owner. Very good memories!
J. B.
Amazing interesting stamps more affordable thank the post office, it's great!
K. K.
Visited Gustamps today and how pleased we are that we did. Absolutely brilliant shop, very friendly, knowledgeable and kind. Would highly recommend anyone visiting Brighton to pop in and have a look even if your not a stamp collector you will be in for a treat and you can buy 1st class stamps 20p cheaper than at the Post Office! 5* all round!
L. K.
Very friendly shop owner who clearly loves his job & is very knowledgeable about his subject. Traditional stamp shop, excellent for collectors, if you wish to speculate on what may become collectable & valuable in the future, if you are a fan of a particular show, film or actor etc or just because you need a 1st class stamp (which are sold cheaper than Post office prices)
Support the small local businesses
N. K.
This is an amazing small shop that I hope will live forever. The owner is a lovely English man that knows his stamps. He will tell you stories and show you stamps from all around the world. You really get a feeling that you are visiting a museum full of these strange boxes with history in them.
As we were only visiting Brighton I can definitely say meeting this man and experience his store was the best thing we did. I really hope that others would visit this store, so that these shops don’t die out.

I recently visited Gustamps as I was visiting Brighton from the USA. I grew up in Brighton and recently found my old stamp collection and First Day Covers. I wanted to see if they were worth anything. I was very impressed by the helpful owner. He was very informative and willing to take the time to share information and even gave me some unique US stamps that had not been issued. They were from the Winter Olympics of 1940 which never actually took place. I would recommend this shop and the owner to any stamp collector or anyone looking for information. A really positive experience and I am glad that I stopped by.
B. B.
Thank you for valuing my mums stamp collection. I had a very interesting time in this superb stamp shop. The owner was very helpful and informative, and was really happy to share his knowledge and experience. He gave me advice about how to sell the stamp collection to ensure the best price, and I certainly came away with a lot more knowledge than when I arrived. Highly recommended.
j.
I went into Gustamps today to sell my father in law's stamp albums and cigarette cards. Gus patiently went through everything, and gave me a very fair price. A lovely, gentle man and a first class service.
T. O.
Great value as I purchased a set of 50 stamps for £4. They also sell collectable first class stamps which can be used on post at a lower price than the post office! The staff were informative and friendly. I'd highly recommend this place.
s. b. g.
I can also buy my stamps over the phone with stamps and they arrive the next day. Ever so friendly and reliable gentleman. So happy to have his sweet shop in Brighton .
Thank you Gus
K. L.
Went to this lovely little shop with my husband who is an avid stamp and cover collector. Crammed full of boxes and albums full of everything philately. The owner was a lovely chap who enjoyed chatting about your hobby whether it be for fun or as an investment. You just don't see shops like this anymore. Well worth a visit if your in Brighton.
M. A. C.
A delightful shop with delightful, and most kind, generous and helpful, staff! A highly enjoyable experience and one which I anticipate to undertake again. There were hundreds of boxes of stamps stacked about, containing such a wide range, at such excellent prices! It was every philatelist's dream.
j. j.
Great collection , friendly owner , best place to buy your 1st class stamp ( cheaper than Postoffice )
W. F.
There are lots of stamps, cards and other collection. We spent long time there. The shop keeper is very nice, very friendly. He showed us lots of wonderful things with very low prices. At that time the shop keeper was busy serving a customer in wheelchair outside the store, and he felt sorry to let us waiting for him (actually we didn't wait for long time), so he gave us unbelievable low price for what we picked. It's amazing. Fabulous store.

Several times we have visited Gus Stamps - a wonderful stamp dealer tucked away in one of Brighton's little lanes. Gus is very kind and patient and always helps my son find something he likes. I'd like to thank Gus very much for his enthusiasm and generosity and recommend anyone who is even a little bit interested in stamps to go in search of Gus! If you didn't think you were interested in stamps before - after visiting Gus I'm sure you will have found a new life-time hobby to enjoy!
P. D.
A charming and quirky shop with a charming and highly knowledgeable owner who will make you feel comfortable and welcome. We popped in for cheap stamps (why pay more at the PO when you don't have to?) and ended up having a much more fun experience than you might expect from performing such a mundane task. Highly recommend.
J. P.
Lovely store with cheaper stamps and an amazing and kind owner! He gave us lots of free stamps and had quite a collection. Thank you so much! :)
C. O.
We visited Brighton for the weekend and stumbled across Gustamps. Our nephew is 11 and has recently developed an interest in collecting stamps - we went in to buy a start pack and came out with loads more (not to mention more knowledge on stamp collecting for ourselves!) The owner was so friendly and welcoming and it was a real pleasure learning some more about stamps and hearing about the interesting history some of them have! Thank you :)
J. D.
This shop is a gem for any seasoned collector and wannabe philatelist ! Anyone who would want to start or know little about collecting stamp would come out of there wanted to start their own collection. The gentleman is passionate, knowledgeable, incredibly helpful and very generous. We will definitely be back on our next trip to Brighton.
S. T.
Having become interested in collecting stamps again, I popped into Gustamps recently for a look as I was passing whilst out shopping in Brighton.
The shop was busy with customers, however despite this the owner took the time to discuss stamps and stamp collecting with me, and spent considerable time giving me a basic grounding in the hobby.
There was no pressure, no rush, and despite clearly being an expert, he was far from condecending or patronising - quite the oppoisite in fact!
Needless to say I started my collection there and then, and will be back again soon.
I do not know if all stamp shops are as good as Gustamps, however I do know that very few shops or businesses in any other field are anything like as helpful! Highly recommended!

I visited Gustamps a few weeks back to try and find some stamps for a wedding present for some good friends of mine.
The lucky pair have gone away on Honeymoon for a year, and I wanted to find a stamp for each of the countries that they were going to be visiting.
Gus spent the best part of an hour with me, going through the list of countries they were visiting, then digging through his archives to find some really fantastic stamps that were later framed as a proper present.
I couldn't have done it without his help - what a lovely and patient guy. Thanks Gus!
V. M.
This is the place to stock up on those unusual, quirky commorative stamps from years back. Still valid to use, you save around £3 on twenty compared with the current Post Office price into the bargain. I picked up some today that had photos of the doctor. Doctor Who? That's right!
J. K.
We took our 8 year old grand-daughter for an album to get started. The owner could not have been more friendly and helpful and gave her excellent advice. We bought an album, tweezers and two packs of stamps and he added even more plus some miniature sheets for free.
And then we bought a lot of UK 1st class stamps at a huge discount, so left very satisfied.
T. G.
Needed a stamp and saw Gus' sign for stamps cheaper than the Post Office.
Ended up with a far more interesting stamp than I normally would have, saved a few pence and had a little fun flicking through the options.
No better place to get stamps if you're able to pop in.
R. G.
Always friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Every visit Gus has something new and interesting for me at reasonable prices. He also sells postage stamps much cheaper than the post office. A must visit for anyone.
C. P.
What a little gem to discover in the heart of a bustling city like Brighton. A beautiful little stamp shop, run by a true gent that knows his stuff! Stamps are more affordable then the post office, and you can select your own ones, from many beautiful designs. Will be using this shop over and over again. So glad I found it!
O. B.
Still open during lock down, just call and Gus will help. Buying a present for a relative and Gus helped me chose something (very affordable) and spot one or them! Give him a call and he will be there to help! Best stamp salesman in the UK!
L. L.
The shop had a cozy atmosphere and the gentleman was really nice. I bought an envelope about British Theatre with four beautiful stamps whose theme was also related to drama. I love it :)
R. S.
Fantastic place. First class stamps for 50p!! Lovely man who runs shop. Would definitely recommend this shop. Picture of the ten first stamps I got for 50p each
P.
I've lived in Brighton all my life, so it's a delight to still be able to find new gems. This shop is a treasure trove of all things philately, and Gus is friendly and knowledgeable. I get stamps here on average once a week for my eBay shop, and I never get tired of the variety of stamps on offer.
And it's helped my business too. Apart from being cheaper than the post office, I've come to realise just how much people like getting stamps on their mail. I've even been able to tailor stamps for the purchase - if I sell an LP then I'll dig out some of Gus' David Bowie and Pink Floyd LP sleeve stamps. If it's something I'm sending abroad then I'll use some of the lovely old stamps that were issued when we first joined the EU. A couple of buyers have even mentioned the stamps in their positive feedback.
I look forward to coming here each week, it's one of Brighton's true gems.
i. g.
Absolutely brilliant experience. What a Fab Aladdin's Cave I found the shop just by walking past over the past few months. The proprietor is an absolute Gent and extremely engaging and could not do enough to assist with my questions and gave great recommendations on how best to sell my collection. I recommend all with an interest in stamps should visit this fab stamp shop in Brighton, Iain
K. H.
My brother and I visited Gustamps with our "schoolboy" stamp collection dating back to the 60's, we were given great advise and help regarding potentially selling some items included in it.
I am 100% convinced by the integrity and honesty of the advice we were given, he even gave us some stamps to make our collection more saleable. Absolutely a good experience.
Definitely worth a visit if only to buy discounted postage stamps for normal use.
J. B.
Gustamps is must shop to visit when you go to Brighton! Amazing selection of stamps, Gus takes time with his customers and explains in detail the stamps he sells. You can buy your first and second class stamps cheaper than the post office!!
D. S.
On a recent trip to the UK, my wife and I happened across this charming little shop. It was crammed full, a virtual treasure trove of history in the form of stamps and papers. It was a pleasure to meet Gus, whose warmth and encyclopedic knowledge helped me find a wonderful collection of antique Chinese stamps to add to my father's stamp collection for his birthday. This was definitely one of the most memorable experiences during our trip!
R. T.
Just popped down to get my Grandad some stamps for Christmas for the Channel Island occupation during WW2. Straight away I had a lovely wide range of mint condition stamps and letters. A friendly man and a fantastic service. He'll be sure to satisfy your stamp collecting needs somehow. :-)
J. G.
Wandered in on a whim today and thoroughly enjoyed myself. Gus helped us find the perfect gift for a stamp collecting friend and explained the history behind each stamp we bought. I'm not a stamp collector myself, but I'm glad that I stopped in. Thanks for making it a great experience!
C. B.
I never want to darken the doorway of a post office again! The stamps in here are truly fabulous and on top of that, cheaper than stamps you can buy in a post office and far more exciting anyway! The owner was very helpful and generous and adapted his search through his stamps to cater for our own interests and was very sweet- would definitely recommend!
M. G.
I have been visited lots of place in UK during my trip but the Gus stamp shop was an amazing experience for me. It was more excited than visiting a museum of course because of owner Mr. Gus . He has very nice stories to tell about each stamps you interested in. Everybody should see this lovely warm shop and meet the owner to listen great stories about the stamps and get some free stamp as a gift ;)
D. S.
A great place to buy stamps especially as they are cheaper that a normal outlet.
The fact that they depict long gone postal campaigns makes them even better value, and he's a lovely man too!
J. A.
We walked into this lovely shop out of intrigue and were pleasantly surprised at the friendliness of the shop keeper; a very knowledgeable man and also very interesting. He had a wide array of stamps for a very good price, including rare and unusual ones. We highly recommend this hidden gem in Brighton.
J. W.
Passing by and noticed this small shop selling stamps, went inside and met a lovely man who told us about his ability to sell stamps less than the post office. A 1st class stamp is only 55p very kind man who clearly is passionate about what he does.
D. L.
I had a lovely visit to Gustamps today. I was so fortunate that I stumbled across this shop. I love the owner, he was so genuine and knowledgable about all of his stamps!!! This is a great place to start or build on your stamp collection.
A. P.
Lovely store with the best customer service ever! Cheap stamps a must visit in Brighton :)
R. F.
Randomly walked past this shop and saw some Disney stamps in the window. Not a stamp collector but love these. They were so reasonably priced and the owner is one of the friendliest shop keepers I have ever met. Would recommend everyone go and visit, even if it was just to pop in for a chat!
a. y.
I will admit that I only went into this shop because of my friend's obsession with sending letters. However, she got what she wanted (stamps at a much lower price than those that can be found in the post office) and I got to meet the owner who was full of interesting information on history and how it affected the stamps. I would really recomend going even if only to see the towering piles of stamps that can be found in the store.
B. M. R.
Fantastic place to get stamps at a cheaper price than the Post Office and they do International coverage as well! Saved a fortune today in Christmas postage. Every town needs a Gustamps shop!
A. H.
Went in to buy first class stamps which were much cheaper than anywhere else and got to choose from many different designs too. The owner also took the time to tell us about various collectable stamps as well. Very interesting place!
K. D.
What an amazing shop! Absolutely brilliant, thousands of different stamps to browse and the owner is super lovely. First class stamps cheaper than anywhere else too!
F. R.
What a brilliant shop! Not only can you get first and second class stamps at a very discounted price but any stamp you have ever wanted you will find there.
The gentlemen in the stop is so helpful and knowledgable I could have listened to him for hours. Each stamp has a history and if you want to know just ask.
It really made our trip to Brighton meeting such a lovely man, but also getting wonderfully discounted stamps!!
O. R.
Went to Gustamps for some advice and I was really pleased: very friendly, professional and extremely knowledgeable! Gus was very helpful, I would happily visit his shop again and would recommend anyone passionate about stamps to go without hesitation!
C. K.
Drawn in by the promise of 1st class stamps 20p cheaper than they're sold at the post office, but discovered so much more than just that! The owner of the shop was interesting, knowledgeable, and very passionate about stamps! He was happy to give a lot of his time explaining to me the history of the stamps he then offered to me free of charge; a lovely memento of a lovely shop! Definitely would recommend popping your head into this cavern of archived surprises. Who knew there was so much to learn from a tiny piece of paper - but each one has a story waiting to be told at Gustamps!
L. E. K.
If I could put 10 out of 10 I would. I had a surprise to find a shop selling very cheap stamps and the owner a caring and considerate man found exactly what I was looking for - some stamps for a 4 year old, that were from around the world. I couldn't believe my luck stumbling over this little shop with the owner who had been there for over 40 years. If anyone goes to Brighton, this shop is a must!! For the excellent service, just to experience seeing so many stamps in one place, the stories told and the owl. In the heart of the Lanes so central to visit. Buy some stamps and walk away thinking that this has been the best part of the day.
z. l.
Lovely store and lovely staff! You will find your dreaming stamps here!
C. R.
Just bought my annual stock of 1st class stamps. Great variety and so much cheaper than the post office or other shops. Tell your family & friends and save them a mint on stamps for Christmas cards this year. They also do larger stamps for bigger envelopes..
J. L.
Had a great experience at gustamps! Gus is very knowledgeable and passionate about his work. Would recommend. Grateful to see this one-of-a-kind place
S. P.
Really lovely little shop. Lots of choice. Reasonable prices. Friendly service. And as a bonus you can buy 1st class stamps at a cheaper price than the Post Office! Don't miss it!
e.
I found the whole experience of visiting Gustamps a delight, the gent that runs the shop is knowledgeable, interesting and quite a charming person to buy stamps from. I'm more of a stamp user than a stamp collector so was interested in buying his first class stamps at a much reduced rate( although still usable as their face value is for 1st class), with the recent increase in international postage rates it’s becoming a robbery to use the post office.
he has a wonderfully vast collection of first class stamps from the last decade, some of my favourite stamps were there, in sheets! more impressive and I’m now a convert to Gustamps.
I saved myself a fortune, at least halved my postage bill per month and also have a wide and interesting collection of stamps to use on my post.
Plus the shop is a retro delight.

Went to Gustamps last week and the person at the store was very, very accommodating- he kept the store open well past their closing time to talk to me and answer my questions. I hadn't gone with the intention of making any purchases, but the store was so enticing with hoards of old presentation packs and first day covers that I ended up treating myself to a few things. I was also given freebies, which was lovely! :)
The person at the store is very knowledgable about stamps and philatelic items- he explained to me how some items are worth much more than others, and was rattling off from memory various issues that have increased in value. We compared their prices in various stamp catalogues and indeed they had accrued in value, which was interesting to me and gave a sense of how to judge what to invest in.
He was encouraging of collecting stamps solely for the personal interests but also recommended investing in certain items of value so that the hobby can be self-sustaining financially.
Highly recommend visiting the store- they are very generous with their time and with sharing knowledge!

What a great shop.
Mountains of stamps which can change overnight....so keep looking.
So helpful and knowledgeable regarding stamp collecting.
The fact you can buy currrent stamps at a reduced price giving immediate savings

Amazing little store near the lanes of Brighton! I went in looking for elvis Presley memorabilia stamps for a friend and the gentleman running the store was so friendly and helpful! Came away with some great stamps from different countries and at a great price! If you ever need 1st & 2nd class stamps too he does them cheaper than the post office ;)
K. W.
What a delightful shop with the most helpful and friendly man. Offered us assistance and enquired about interests to find the best stamps for me and for gifts. Genuinely wonderful experience. Can't wait to visit again!
R. C.
My wife and called into this shop while wondering around Brighton shops. The owner is very knowledgeable and interesting. The number of stamps in the shop is amazing. If you are interested in stamps or have query pay him a visit.
M. D.
Amazing find. My wife and I were passing and saw a notice for cheap stamps. We ventured in and found some unusual and amazing stamps all cheaper than the current prices for 1st and 2nd class and legal for use. We will definitely visit again and never buy from the post office again.
G. B.
It's not just for collectors. With Christmas fast approaching and we all want to save money, go here for cheap first class stamps. It's a no brainier...you go in, ask for a sheet of first class stamps, you choose, you pay less than the Post Office, you leave. No con, just cheap stamps, great service and you are keeping a local business going. Take cash, they will take card but you will get something cheap and they don't make as much because of the fee on the card. I made the mistake of paying by card...never again. Cash is king and helps everyone.
t. R.
Amazing shop! Cheap 1st class stamps and much more. If u have been once u will go again and again! Wonderful customer service.

Happened to walk past on our way out of town and saw an intriguing collection from the street which really sparked our curiosities. My girlfriend and I went in looking for some international stamps to send her grandparents a postcard. We came out with international stamps alongside an education on stamp collecting and the start of a collection. Can’t wait to go back and build on what we have! Thank you Gustamps!!
H. M.
My husband and I happened to come across Gus's shop during our last visit to Brighton. My husband inherited a stamp collection from his father and wished to sell it. Gus has a wealth of knowledge about stamps and thoroughly looked through and valued the collection for us. We would recommend Gus to anyone who is looking at selling or collecting stamps.
D. C.
As an American on holiday, Gus's shop was the hidden treasure from the incredibly busy Christmas shopping. Brand new to stamps, I wandered into his shop. Gus opened an incredible array of American historical stamps and gave a quick presentation on the world of stamps. His passion is captivating and his inventory is massive. Anyone new to Brighton should give his shop a visit.
F. G.
Found the store purely by chance, went in looking for a standard book of first class stamps, and walked away with not only several very pretty stamps, but helpful tips on investments. The owner couldn't have been more helpful and was incredibly knowledgable. Will certainly visit again next time I'm in Brighton!
B. M.
Lovely shop and lovely gentleman! Really knowledgable and clearly loves his job, it's really nice to be around someone who's as passionate and helpful about what they do.
I went in for a gift and he went above and beyond to help me find the perfect thing. It's great to see a small, independent company still thriving so well and I hope they continue to do so for many years to come.
K.
We went into this quaint stamp shop yesterday looking at some Star Trek stamps. The gentlemen manning the counter was the loveliest, kindest gentleman I think I may have ever met. He was very knowledgeable, took the time to answer our questions (we aren't stamp collectors, and know nothing about the hobby). He was very patient with us, and even gifted us some stamps - including some of the Stat Trek ones we were looking at! I had no idea that some stamps could be worth so much, and in the collection he started us with he gave us an investment for the future.
He sells normal stamps for posting too, at a much cheaper price than the post office (so would be worth coming here to buy your stamps if you need some and are in Brighton!) His whole shop was just fanscinating!
1. 7.
Such a pretty shop with a super nice owner. The stamps are available in so many different species, and the owner offered us some for free. Love the atmosphere here.
A. D.
The door leads into a parallel universe, and the owner is a local legend. If you send a lot of mail (or postcards) and want to save on postage, you'll get a great deal on Royal Mail stamps. If you need any stamp from any part of the world from any era, the man will have a box. If you have a family member who collects stamps, bring them here and they will thank you for it. And if you have no interest in stamps whatsoever, the owner has stories that will get you starting a stamp collection as soon as you leave the shop.
J. S.
What a fabulous little shop! Sells first class stamps cheaper than Royal Mail and they're all beautiful designs. I will only buy stamps here from now on!
J. C.
Friendly and helpful gentlemen who has been in the business for 45 years.
Only shop I know that sells Royal Mail stamps at Poundland prices.
Easy to find shop in city centre.
D. d.
Have visited Gus's a few times (and given him 5 stars!), which I do again now based on a couple of recent visits. Gus is always helpful and fair-dealing. I wouldn't buy stamps, whether collector's or current, anywhere else. Pay him a visit!

Was just exploring Brighton with a friend and came across the little sign saying "stamps" outside. It looked unique and interesting so we decided to pop in - ended up being one of the best decisions of the day! We were warmly welcomed in to the shop by the friendly owner, but not smothered, and he didn't hesitate to take time to find some stamps that were related to things we were interested in (engineering, WW2 and Pokemon). I'm not a stamp collector, but I am interested in history, so was pleasantly surprised when he told us, in detail, the stories associated with the stamps which were fascinating! He clearly has a LOT of knowledge and is passionate about stamps. Also worth noting is that he wasn't arrogant or pretentious about his knowledge, he simply wanted to share it with us, which was a nice change. Overall, this was more of an experience than just a shop. We would strongly recommend visting it even if to just buy a stamp as an inexpensive souvenir, which will also have loads of history attached to it :)
A. H.
Whether your're an avid stamp collector, or if you just have a passing interest, a visit to Gustamps will leave you wanting to visit again. Name dafter its owner, Gus, it has been in the same location for over 40 years. Gus is a knowledgeable stamp enthusiast and he is more interested in talking to you about his collections, than trying to strong arm you into a sale. Good Guy Gus - see you soon fella.
J. c.
A friend and I went to visit Brighton when we found this shop, It had a large quantity of unique stamps available in many varieties, that should also appeal to many people as well as the owner being kind and helpful, I recommend that you visit this shop if you are near this area or interested in stamps.
M. H.
A fascinating shop with thousands upon thousands of mint stamps to collect. Very helpful staff who made the experience so delightful. Very cheap stamps and was a highlight of Brighton, when we go back we will certainly go back there.
B. B.
A highlight of our recent UK Family trip. I used to collect stamps when I was a kid, particularly UK stamps as I have family there, so it was wonderful to see a great old fashioned stamp shop. Sensational selection and extremely knowledgeable and helpful guys there, Thankyou!!!
A. K.
This is a one of a kind shop offering amazing collections of stamps, huge bargains and really nice service. Excellent thing to see and experience especially for tourists, as recently there is a lack of friendly people! Great find during recent Brighton strolls.
A. G.
Amazing little shop with a very friendly and generous owner. I never knew you could save so much on postage stamps.
Another visit to this little treasure of a shop, thanks again for the great service..
E. W.
Really nice and knowledgeable guy. He helped me out a lot when I asked him if he had anything my father, who is also a stamp collector, would like. I bought a set, didn’t have money for another interesting stamp he offered me, and he ended up giving it to me for free. Great guy!
Z. L.
Chanced upon the store to buy stamps for my postcards and ended up speaking to an extremely friendly avid stamp collector. Gus is more than willing to share his stories and experiences, truly enjoyed the conversations and advice rendered. Impressive passionate philatelist with the vast amount of knowledge he has. Hope to see Gus again! :)
J. P.
Went in for a free valuation of my stamp collection. Unfortunately it wasn't worth much but the owner spent time advising me on how to sell it online and even gave me some free stamps to help sell it. Excellent customer service. Super advice. You can also buy discounted 1st and 2nd class stamps here which is handy as the post office is now closed.
A. B.
Recently called Gustamps for some advice on some stamps I had for sale. They were super helpful and even sent me some stamps free to complete my set!!! Some how these were returned to Gustamps through the post, They called me to check the address and re-sent free of charge! Would have no hesitation in recommending them. 10/10
M. J.
Each time I visit Brighton I call in at Gustamps to replenish my stock of 1st class stamps. Great service, great choice of stamps and better still, cheaper than the going rate.
R. D.
A great place to buy stamps that’s are both unique and cheaper than the post office. Gus is also very knowledgeable in his profession. Definitely worth a visit.
C. G.
I went into the shop to buy a set of stamps as a pressie for a friend . I was amazed at the amount of stamps there. Gus was really helpful and he had exactley what I wanted and more.
Great place well worth a visit
J. H.
Amazing shop selling stamps. Well worth a visit even if only for a browse. Great value and 1st class stamps at good prices. Pleasant and good service.
G. S.
Lovely little shop ran by a nice gent who sells collectable as well as your standard postage stamps. I always come here for my stamps as they have lots of lovely designs, which makes sending cards to friends and family that much more personalised. The stamps are also much cheaper than the standard prices, which is an extra bonus!
s.
Gus was extremely helpful with organising some Italian stamps for our wedding invitations, and it was also good to know English current stamps are considerably cheaper here than the post office!
K. M.
I had come in after seeing the advertisement to get a free stamp from the 19th century if you could name the ruler on the stamp. The man inside was very nice and when he found out I was new to stamp collecting he showed me a bunch of different stamps and gave me some advice for the future if I decide to get more into collecting. I would definitely recommend this store!
S.
The owner is very helpful, he helped us to find the most suitable stamps for us, very helpful and kind! This is a must go place!
S. R.
An Aladdin's cave of stamps owned by a real diamond of a Gentleman. I needed a first class stamp urgently and luckily found the shop. The owner actually did not want to charge for the stamp which was already discounted so I purchased an envelope full of stamps which he also then discounted and then gave me some various loose stamps of famous racing drivers and their cars to give to my car mad Grandson. If stamp collecting is your thing then you will LOVE this shop.
D. A.
Gus is a very helpful and knowledgeable man.
I took my late father in laws stamp collection to him and he quickly assessed its value and gave detailed advice on what we could do with it as a family.
He even gave me a gift of several Olympic Stamps to give to my grandchildren! Free!
Please and hour of his time! Free. Great man. Do visit!
D. B.
Great stamp shop with all sorts of interesting sets of stamps and coins. Shop owner is very friendly and knowledgeable. He was very helpful with my stamp collection. I will go back there.
B. B.
We are lucky to have Gustamps in Brighton. For anyone interested in stamps and coins it is the place to visit. The owners knowledge and enthusiasm for
his subject cannot be faulted.
G. K. G.
Went into this amazing little shop today, attracted by the vast variety of stamps on display in the window. I'm not a collector but have an interest in design. I decided on a pack of space race era stamps, that were very reasonably priced. I enquired about some Mexico 68 Olympics stamps, Gus went off dug through a few boxes & to my surprise had found a collection of the stamps. I purchased the space stamps & to my absolute amazement Gus let me have the Olympics stamps free of charge. I was genuinely touched. I can't recommend Gus Stamps highly enough. Incredible collection & a very kind, knowledgable store owner. Very happy with the stamps I got & think I may have found myself a new hobby.
K. N.
An unusual little shop in Brighton's lanes. This shop is obviously one man's labour of love and the gentleman that runs it is very knowledgeable and interesting to talk to. A good idea for buying a present or souvenir with a difference - give it a try! My friend was very happy with the collection of Princess Diana HRH stamps from all around the world (& commemorative coin) and is planning to make a framed display with them :)
B. C.
Its my first visit to Brighton, my fiancée and I came to the UK for pre wedding and it is so lucky that we found Gustamp by coincidence! Gus knew that we were from HK and just got engaged and he is so generous that he gave us a wedding gift for that! He shown us his collections of HK and China stamps, most of them are really vintage and some even from Qing Dynasty, its truly an eye opener for my fiancée and I, we also bought some international stamps from Gus and you know what its cheaper than buying the same thing in Royal Mail! If you are looking for stamps for sending postcards or parcels you should really go to Gustamps for buying that at a discounted price and talk to Gus, he is truly a gentleman that will surely make your day!
M. O.
Excellent shop! Great selection of Star Wars stamps! Store owner was very helpful and generous, can get 1st class stamps for a lot less than at the post office and a broad selection of interesting stamps for very cheap also.
D. S.
Gus was fantastic when my friend and I came in. We had no prior knowledge of stamps and he took the time out to show us some of his knowledge. A great store and a great bloke, I'll be revisiting next time I'm in Brighton!
N. G.
I visited the shop to buy stamps for my dad that is a collector. I received an excellent service. Since i don't know much about philately, he took the time to help me and taught me a lot of things i didn't know. I even left the shop with more than expected. I will definitely come back. Thank you!
M. W.
Since a friend of mine told me about Gus Stamps a couple of years ago, I have always used them since.
Whilst there is a massive stock of stamps of all sorts , I am not a collector, but go there to buy my FIRST CLASS STAMPS @ 55p EACH (as of 09.03.2020).
J. G.
On a brief stop at Brighton went to see Gus, my preferred stamps dealer in the UK, always a pleasure and always a nice surprise for the stamps collector. Highly recommended.
A. F.
Excellent experience - Gus is very knowledgeable and happy to help. Great place to buy Royal Mail stamps 20% cheaper than the post office.
K. R.
We werde served by a very nice gentleman who is obviously a authentic stamp lover.
We could choose our postcard stamps from a variety of many, and so it was possible to „customize“ our postcards even more. Thank you and all the best for your business!!
A. J.
Great shop near the Lanes in Brighton. Excellent for getting discounted postage stamps and also great for stamp collecting and First Day Covers - huge range available and Gus, who runs the business, is always very helpful - have bought many FDCs here.
S. F.
I’m sad to share this well kept secret because ideally I’d like to keep it to myself for more bargains like this. It’s always a great value saving shop at Gustamps, and even my mother and her other shopping savvy friends come here. And he is so affable. It can’t be faulted. None of it. Thank you.
J. P.
Top draw, a real gem in The Lanes in Brighton. An eclectic range and exceptionally knowledgeable staff.
To top it all, you can buy 1st Class Stamps that are unused and fully serviceable much cheaper than from Royal Mail. It's a no brainier, if you can't get there then call them and they will post it to you.
N. B.
Super little stamp shop in Brighton. Went there with a stamp collection we got given years ago. They gave us the best price in town and even told us to sell some online ourselves to get a little more money. Very friendly guy with lots of charm. I am so glad we found this shop. Will visit again
D. J.
A hidden gem and Gus is a legend!! Had arranged for Gus to cast his eye over 2 very old school boy stamp albums. He gave me good advice and easily picked out the good ones. I learnt a lot in a very short time, even had me looking at my own stamps with his magnifying glass. Rare these days to find someone like Gus, great customer service and gave you his time and I left with more stamps than I went in with!! I love sharks and within a few minutes a stamp appeared with a Mako on it!! Also left with some future rarereties for the next generation to get excited about in many years to come. The world needs more people like Gus!!! You must pop in when in Brighton.
J. W.
Dropped in today at recommendation of lady in Cards for Good Causes, bought interesting first class stamps much cheaper than the post office. Interesting chat and kind gentleman gave me some old 3p & 4p stamps to use to make up value of postage to USA. I can now send very colourful and interesting letters!
A. G.
Great little shop very friendly man and very knowledgable. Sells fist class stamps at a fraction of the price Excellent little place definitely recommend a visit if you are a stamp collector
J. L.
The owner has an amazing knowledge of stamps and is very helpful and friendly. He valued my stamp collection for free. This shop also sells postage stamps cheaper than the post office.
G. M.
Small local business, it sells current stamps at a discount, as well as old ones. Well worth going to as stamps are cheaper for everyday use but also if you want special ones for say a birthday, wedding, or Christmas a wide variety.
J. D.
Intrigued by the advert in the window for cheap postage stamps, we went into this remarkable little shop (no - emporium is a better word) and talked with an equally remarkable Gus. He explained how he was able to sell cheap colourful postage stamps (and we bought lots) and then went on to tell us all sorts of fascinating things about some of the stamps he had. The visit was such a pleasure. Next time we are in Brighton we will pop in just for a chat.
Thanks Gus.
L. G.
Such a nice place and such a lovely consulting. We just wanted to buy normal stamps but at the end we knew a lot more about their history. it was such a nice experience we will never forget. I recommend this place to everyone else.
a. s.
Went in looking for some Elvis Presley stamps - left with a great collection and at such a bargain! Gus was a lovely man - who obviously knows a lot about the stamp business! He was generous and extremely lovely to chat to! He made my day! Have a pop in! You will not be disappointed !!!!
A. S.
just amazing service, I took 2 chidhood albums in for evaluation. The owner is so knowledgable and friendly. Although none of my stamps were of much value, he was kind enough to dictate a description for me to put them for sale on ebay. Outstanding experience , highly recommend a visit!!!
S. A.
Lovely experience and a lovely owner, takes the time to find you stamps you want or are interested in, such a huge selection! Cheaper 1st class stamps than the post office and a lot more fun :)
N. A.
What a fabulous shop!! Can thoroughly recommend to buy all your stamps here! There's no catch! Various designs and such fun to have a look through!! Really friendly staff too!!
C. H.
Very pleased with myself for finally going inside the shop today having noticed the sign outside for cheap 1st and 2nd class stamps for months. Great selection, great value, charming service. Many thanks.
j. v. r.
Brilliant little gem of a shop. 1st class stamps for cheaper than a current 2nd class stamp from the PO. A lovely guy running the place gave some brilliant info on a stamp collection and a history lesson as well. Love independent knowledgeable shops like Gustamps and long may they stay in Brighton!
T. D.
Quite simply the best stamp shop in Brighton (possible the whole country). Gus gives a first class service, whilst selling brilliantly prices 1st class stamps (55p!!!)
T. V.
Went there today. Great customer service. Royal Mail stamps are substantially cheaper. Also - there's a fascinating array of stamps from around the world (my wife bought a some to make a collage)
K.
Called into Gustamps today to sell my collection of stamps and phone cards. Very friendly and helpful service and received a very fair price. Very easy going and great to deal with.
C. H.
Visited this shop over May bank holiday. I got First Class stamps as a cheaper price than in Post Office.
Gustamps has a huge collection of interesting stamps for my newly found hobby of letters writing and Postcrossing. I have been looking for different kinds of stamps to use on letters and postcards and I am so glad that I found ones that will be quite popular for penpals from overseas. If you are interested in sending letters and postcards these days, this is the place you must visit for your stamps!
The owner was also very friendly and knowledgable. Thank you!
g. t.
Gustamps made not only my day but my year. The owner is just about the kindest man you'll ever meet, giving lots of great (free) advice and wanting to do the absolute best by everyone who walks through the door. It's never about the money for him, he just wants to give his customers a good deal. I came away feeling better than Christmas. Thank you again!
M. O.
Gus has an incredible wealth of knowledge and is more than happy to share it with all his visitors. We had a lovely afternoon looking at rare and beautiful stamps and learning about the process of collecting stamps. Thank you!
S. M.
This is quite simply the most amazing shop in the UK both in terms of the fantastic stock of stamps and highly competitive prices and above all the most amazing, friendly, knowledgeable and interesting owner who will not only answer any questions you may have but provides excellent information and advice relating to anything you would like to know about stamps. Shops like this just do not exist anymore and whether you are starting a stamp collection or an experienced collector you will be enlightened and come out on a high after talking with the wonderful owner.
Additionally they sell First Class Royal Mail stamps for your letters at 45p instead of the current 63p so it's a win-win scenario.
A real Aladdin's Cave and this shop is a find rarer than a Penny Red Plate 77!
C. B.
Great selection of stamps! If you're looking for some unusual and decorate postage for a letter that needs posting or something to start a collection then you need to come here. I came for 1 stamp and left with loads!
M. W.
Found this wonderful shop by accident, visiting Brighton for the day, lured in by the sign promising first class stamps at less than second class prices... never pay full price for postage again!
While there, the proprietor (wonderful character) engaged my 11 year old son in the wonders of stamp collecting - I think we may have a new hobby in the house!
P. B.
A great place for stamp buffs but also somewhere to pick up discounted 1st/2nd class stamps. Not the usual bland ones but those with a bit of a story. Friendly face and will always pop in when in Brighton
C. K.
Exceptional service by owner Gus. He’s very helpful in finding what I’m looking for, and he’s also given me great advice on stamp collection. Bought a couple of Brighton FDCs and postcards, totally worth it. Five stars.
S. E.
This lovely chap has been running the shop for 40 years and don’t you know it. He has a huge variety of stock and he knows exactly where to lay his hands on it.
If you’re interested in a particular subject or topic then he has a stamp for it. If you’d like a ‘First Day Cover’ for an alternative birthday present then he has a shed load of them.
Best of all, you can buy 1st class postage stamps for 50p instead of paying 67p at the post office (all will be explained but it’s pretty obvious when you know)
V. Č.
I came in only for two stamps and I was out of any cash, the welcoming gentleman let me to choose any stamp I like and I could also pay £1 on card! Amazing price and service! The warm smile of this person made me smile even after I left :).
L. P. C.
I needed to send a letter back home to Spain and I found the perfect place to buy some stamps. Outstanding prices and really friendly workers in the shop. Best place if you need some stamps and a little bit of advice.
M. J.
Brilliant little shop! The guy inside was very helpful and friendly! Went in not knowing about stamps and after speaking to the chap me and my girlfriend started thinking about collecting. Highly recommend visiting this little treasure!
M. R.
Wonderful experience here buying stamps for our wedding - the shopkeeper was so helpful in showing us lots of different stamps so we could choose really lovely ones for our invitations!
A. S.
Nice shop to get unusual stamps--you can pick from boxes full of old designs and use them to post letters (not just to collect). Great service and useful tips
R. O.
A lovely shop, very well priced and interesting, with the most helpful and kind man behind the counter! Would fully recommend a visit, it’s like a small museum!! Even if you’re not interested in stamps, you will be by the time you’ve left :-)
w. c.
Visited on Tuesday this week, great little shop. Brilliant offers on stamps for UK and EU use....much discounted compared to Post Office prices. Very glad we found you :)
T. C.
I spent an enjoyable hour in Gustamps this afternoon, being helped by Gus himself. His advice was invaluable and I found his shop to be a treasure trove of delights. He was generous in his time and attention to all of his customers - a truly personal service. I look forward to returning.
B. G.
The owner is the first gentleman who made me smile properly today with his kindness, in my first week Brighton. Gustamps is a perfect shop which you'll forget the passage of time inside while looking to stamps and postcards.
E. W.
What a find ! Glad I found this store as it's cheaper and you could spend hours there looking at all the stamps . Gus is very friendly and welcoming and I would recommend this place to everyone . Definitely be returning myself !
S. K.
Visiting from Manchester i came accross this place in my wanders. I collect coins and when i went in i was astonished at the variety of coins they had. The gentleman was very pleasant and gave a superb service. Even started me on my first stamp collection hobby. Well worth a visit to this Aladdins cave of rare stamps and coins. You will be pleasantly suprised.
A. G.
I have been frequenting this shop for years now, and have only just gotten around to a review- I cannot endorse this shop highly enough, I introduced my partner to Gusstamps and it made her day being given such good service.
I also recently made a genuine mistake with my order ,and Gus made a generous but in the end unnecessary offer to reimburse.
H. Y.
Just want to say what an amazing place. Stamps for everything and the service was second to none the owner is a very nice gentleman and ever so helpful, my only problem was picking which Rolling Stones stamps to take and of course the Pokemon ones for my son. Thanks again for all your help Sir. Will be back (DV). All I can say is if this shop is good enough for "Mrs. Wyman" it's good enough for anyone 😁😁😁
M. D.
Now, I myself do not know much about stamps but my dad and I stumbled across Gustmaps over the weekend as he has a new acquired love for collecting stamps. The place itself, is lost in a world of colourful stamps that catch your eye at every turn and my dad was over the moon at the great offer of 3 packets of 100 stamps for £10. What struck me most however was the incredible kindness shown by the store owner who offered my dad a selection of other stamps for free and who I really felt did everything he could to make our experience in his store unforgettable. I will definitely be returning wether to add to my dads collection or to be greeted once again by such a friendly face. I honestly can't fault this place and give it my highest recommendation as it's well worth a visit
M. N.
A lovely STAMP PARADISE..hidden behind a modest shop front! Old fashioned courtesy, and Gus, has time to actually talk to you! Lovely treasure trove of super stamps worth a trip just to have a look around!!
D. B.
A real must-visit treasure trove in the The Lanes. Fascinating first day covers and unique first class stamps sold at original prices: ideal for either collecting or saving on the extortionate 63 pence price tag of today! Yes, you can actually buy them at the cheaper price and they're still perfectly valid to send. Gus himself is an affable gent too, and always happy to help.
C. G.
Best stamp shop I've ever been to. There's a great selection of beautiful stamps and they are super cheap as well! Great customer service 10/10 😁
l. C.
Very kind and helpful man, looked at my grandmother's stamp collection and picked out the stamps of value straight away. Gave us a free valuation and tips on how to sell them, will definitely be returning.
D. F.
Gustamps is a stamp shop in the South Laines. One huge benefit for any locals sending post, or visitors wanting to send postcards is that his stamps are cheaper than the Royal Mail. They also often have whimsical designs on them to make your post receiver smile!
But, it's so much more than a stamp shop! Speak to the lovely Gus inside and you'll be entertained by his vast knowledge of history and stamps. I'm not a stamp collector myself, but could have spoken to Gus for hours - his passion is totally infectious.
Gus kindly explained the history of the Olympics and WW2 stamps to me and even gave me 4 beautiful stamps to remember the story by. I'm told this stamp could be valuable in the future so thank you Gus for the kind gift and lovely memory.
I'm 22, not a stamp enthusiast and have done most of the 'Things to do in Brighton', and would 100% say Gustamps is a MUST. If you're walking through Brighton's Laines, (visitor or local), add it to your to do list.
M. P.
Stumbled across this place by chance today, but what a find! A real treasure trove of collectible items and themed stamps that can be used for real postage. Very knowledgeable and pleasant owner, we will certainly return.
P. T.
I went to Gustamps with my son who was beaming with excitement to show me this little shop.
The visit brightened up my day, I was so intrigued at how passionate Gus was. If you are ever in Brighton you would be missing out if you didn't visit this unbelievable shop. It is a must for all philatelists!!!
V. K.
I popped in today (12th April 2016) to see what was what, having only read about Gustamps in philatelic publications, via advertisements for sale items. The proprietor, who is absolutely charming, sorted me out, even educated me on a few items. And I did purchase a few items, most unusual they were too - just up my street. Prices are reasonable and the stock in these small premises is huge. I recommend anyone interested in stamps, postal history etc. to visit. Time well spent ! Vincent King. Hove. East Sussex.
w. l.
Just spoke to Gus regarding an inherited collection and he was absolutely brilliant with his free advive and knowledge. I highly recommend Gus to anybody who needs help in the stamp market. Thank you again Gus!

Gus and his stamp shop are without a doubt one of the highlights of my recent trip to Brighton. He was really kind and knowledgeable the trouble is I think I now have a new hobby. Can not recommend enough.

I'd definitely take a few minutes to visit this shop even if you only have a passing interest in stamps. Actually, I only went in for postage for a card, then stayed for 20 minutes to discuss possible ways to improve my sadly neglected 50-year old collection. Very pleased I wandered in.

Gus is so friendly and went out of his way to help me! I would definitely recommend going there if you are interested in stamps, Gus has a lot of background knowledge and provided me with lots of information. Also cheaper than other post office's.

We've just been in this fabolous shop. The shop assistant is one of the most Kind person we've ever Met in Uk. We bought three stamps for a really good price (royal familiare, 1841 victoria and an inverted Head) and he gave us an olympic Stamp of 1940 as a gift to intiate us in this new amazing World of stamps.
