Reviews of St Mary Shopping Centre
a.
Nice local shopping arcade. Handy for all the things you need day to day. Very much enjoy shopping here.
C. S.
Lots of lovely shops and eatery’s, well worth a drive out.
N. O.
Popped in to Aldi's to exploit cheaper English alcohol rules. Looks nice didn't have time to look about as on the way to the IPMS show.
C. L.
One of the main reasons to come here is a Gregg's sausage roll.
P. M.
Good free parking . Good selection of shops . Still has that village feel .
L. A.
Thornbury is a delightful town. Free parking and wonderful local shops.
J.
Pretty town but the shopping centre lacks occupied shops. It needs a dedicated manager who would organise a regular event in the open area each month. It could be funded by a donation from all the towns traders, this would increase visitors to the town which would increase footfall for the shops and restaurants. It does have some good places to eat and the shops we have are also good.
M. P.
Not a massive shopping centre, but full of hidden gems to find. Well worth a visit
E. C.
Good town shopping centre. Lots of coffee and cake shops
R. H.
Nice design and variety. Car park close but ugly. Some trees perhaps?
A. M.
Only use it as a walk through, don't remember spending a penny in any of the shops
g. s.
Bit of a non experience to be honest, not much food shops to chose from but greggs was fall back choice
C. B.
Like many towns ...if you don't use it you will loose it ..local people should take advantage. Shop local
S. S.
Lovely place. Good variety of shops
A. B.
We went for Sunday lunch at the excellent Ronnie's. Most shops were shut hence only 4 stars.
Free parking is extremely welcome given that most towns believe motorists have bottomless pockets ! Well done.
N. C.
Beautiful old town Center with nice shops and an active pub nightlife (for a small town). Very nice that the town centre is void of traffic now that it has been banned. Makes the Center even more aggreable. Two good fish and chip shops, two Indian restaurants, two Italian and an outstanding Thai restaurant make for good eating.
J. C.
Plenty of new shops. Variety is getting better. Lovely shoe shop
M. R.
Sadly looking it's age and alot if sub prime stores no anchor stores apart from Aldi
R. W.
Thornbury Town Center is so quet on a Sunday. The only places open are Coffee shops, pubs The miniature garden shop and of course the Church.
r.
Unfortunately with a closed of the high st thornbury just isn't what it was the shopping centre quieter these days shame on South Gloucestershire council for slowly distroying this once lovely little town
P. T.
Give us our High Street back!!!
Traffic 1 way up the High Street, with parking in herring bone fashion.
When the sun doesn't shine, it dies on it's arse!
J. B.
Fine considering it's lockdown. Aldi and a few other places open.
J. F.
Good selection of shops to visit. Always very clean and tidy.
Could use a bit more support from locals but hopefully that will be resolved now restrictions have been lifted.
D. D.
Nothing but charity shops and coffee shops a real let down
A. T.
Not a massive fan of this little shopping centre. In its heyday a great place to visit and shop but in recent years the higher value businesses have given way to charity shops and the whole place looks a bit shabby.
M. J.
This is only a very small shopping centre, but it is immacultely clean and well presented. The shops are laid out well, and the arcade provides access from the main car park to the main street. The town has a number of national chain outlets mixed in with more local shops. Worth a visit.
H. f.
I liked it, I enjoyed the way it was open aired and well maintained. There's a decent selection of stores but they are small and almost picture like quality to the whole feel of the place the only let for me was the large empty store front next to aldi, it was unsightly and a bit of an eyesore maybe it could be dressed up as a display until it's rented out as it would make the place that little be more tidy looking
G. J.
A quaint market town covered arcade between Thornbury's main high street and a Lidl store. Lots of adjacent parking at ground level. A good variety of shops including a Gregg's with Lloyds and HSBC banks on the adjacent high street. Good choice of restaurants too.
m. t.
A wide range of shops and cafés with easy access for wheel chair users. Quite easy to spend a couple of hours here. The farmers market is always a busy and good time to go on a Thursday as it always brings people together.
D. R.
Nice pleasant place, with a good variety of shop.
C. C.
A Nice clean and friendly quiet town to visit. Market day was good. Nice to see a good variety of stalls with lots to offer.
M. K.
A collection of different shops. Clean and friendly atmosphere. It's a pity some of them have closed - like to butcher and fruit/veg shop, but hopefully someone similar will open up these. A variety is always good.
d. s.
This is an outstanding florest who goes far and beyond to get exactly what you what. I'm a local wedding photographer and love seeing her flowers at weddings. 💐 …
M. C.
Theres always plenty of shops and cafes to choose from, great local owned businesses and easy parking. I think with the pedestrian areas now, its improved your shopping experience and less pollution feom all the vechiles that used to use the high street
M. H.
This is a great place lots of shops the area so clean good wheelchair accessible and free large car parks
P.
Nice pedestrianised shopping centre in the heart of Thornbury. Some big name stores are there as well as smaller independent shops.
There's a farmer's market on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of every month.
H. K.
It's really trying to attract new people to Thornbury to shop. It's clean, well lit and has plenty if parking near by. A few more units need to be let - could do with a shoe shop maybe.
K.
Got your basic things you need nice few shops coffee shops .
D. M.
St Mary's shopping centre needs a massive boost for small businesses as the rents are ridiculously high for what you get. Council and private owners should have to pay a charge for empty property. The town will always struggle until something happens.
M. R.
Had always been a great place to visit pre- lockdown. Closing the high street to buses has made other roads very crowded and dangerous.
M. W.
Very clean and welcoming shopping centre. A little sparse on well known shops but a good selection of local trade. Good eateries too.
M. F.
Lovely clean and tidy shopping precinct. Great selection of shops and plenty of space to distance.
M. H.
Nice place to visit but a bit pricey as you expect from central London.
B. H.
Lots of empty shops and not a lot of variety of shops. A shop showcasing or allowing pop ups of very local micro-medium size business would be very nice to see and would complement the new market
H. B.
Fantastic easy to park. It is free as well.
N. P.
Sat down and enjoyed a lovely cooked breakfast in the cafe well recommended
7.
Nice walk and atmosphere around. But many dranks and drugs users around. At 2pm!
s. c.
Too many charity shops
H. K.
Some great shops catering to a wide range of people. It's a shame so many units are empty. Shop more locally people and your choices will keep improving.
P. M.
Good morning I found St Mary's shopping centre a little bit complicated due to the way the distanceing was sorted out ireally couldn't make sense of the no Entry signs in the a Arcade by the shop doorways etc etc just maybe I'll get use to it if it isn't changed pete 👍 …
M. I.
Great place to shop Shelleys cafe great staff best food in thronbury and a good market on a Saturday for your garden and stone ware for your garden
M. B.
Love this area, all kinds of shops, some lovely little local shops and coffee shops
R. B.
Well signposted for social distancing making it easy to navigate on foot. With all your bargain shops and coffee shops still open.
j. g.
Simple precinct with good shops including Aldi, Greggs, Card Factory, mobile phone shop, WH Smith, charity shops, bank and some additional independent shops.... certainly serves a purpose for a quick visit and extremely handy precinct for locals....
T. L.
There is plenty of parking spaces and it is well lit also it is very well look after by the cleaners there are many of Cafe like Costa and coffee one and many more there is pretty big supermarket called Aldi and a play area called the Mondays playing field which is huge with a new water feature and a small River for children also they redid the play with new swings slides and much more do recommend
D. M.
Nice place as far as it goes you can get your shopping, book store, a couple of charity shops and an Aldi, chemist, cafe so good to visit. Big carpark nearby.
m. k.
Nice shopping centre with convenient free parking, but too many empty units and charity shops. The owners should review and encourage more variety of businesses to the area.
M. R.
Had a fantastic hair appointment at Giggs. Lunch across the way in the pub. Lots of lovely shops and a library too. A fun day of shopping.
G. H.
Lovely indoor market. Definitely worth a visit
G.
Poor Thornbury is clearly a struggling town. Clearly the rentis too high for most shops to turn a profit, so unless you're looking for a coffee or a pint, there isn't really a lot of reasons to go.
T. G. (.
Main banks, library, cobbler/locksmith, hairdressers, beauty shops, chemists, couple of clothes shops. Lots of charity shops and coffee shops. A couple of specialist shops ie wool, cookery/kitchen, hardware, gifts, independant food shop. Sadly, smaller independant shops struggling with high rental costs. Larger franchises moving in eg. WH Smiths, Greggs, Dominos. Nice to have but at what cost to the independant shopkeepers??? Very quaint/pretty town, well maintained and annual prizewinners of 'in bloom' competition.
A. A.
Lovely place to visit
L. B.
A lovely, built for purpose shopping area in an olde world style, this centre has a good mix of shops, from economy to high end, to suit every taste and pocket.
G. K.
For residents of Thornbury a good local shopping center with plenty of choice and plenty of places to grab a bite to eat
W. D.
Great little Town centre for cafes & bars.
T. H.
That nice friendly and helpful tea and coffee and sandwiches and shampoo and match attax and river guard and muffin and doughnut
M. C.
Don't really visit the shops here, just use it as a cut through to the high street!
R. B.
Lovely local shopping centre. Farmers market Thursday 9-1
N. A.
Not a bad place to shop. Shame the high street is closed.
J. M.
Yep southwest golden i call it " little clifton " but no students. Aldis bit small but eh musnt grumble. Yeah nice area sum gd people round there especially in the garden center
J.
Very, very, very quiet, but aren't all smaller high streets now. Good bookshop there- Lions.
A.
We have a couple of new shops recently, and about to open, the more the better, no more charity shops please. This is a handy and convenient little centre.
R. S.
Thornbury Eye Centre! Greggs! That nice florist!! A veritable cornucopia of greatness
M. S.
Nice old feel to the town.Plenty of pubs.Today had a street market.
A. C.
I like Thornbury. Market on a Thursday. Chees bread honey etc. Never too busy which is good in current climate.
B. P.
Quite a pretty shopping center, but it seems to mostly be coffee shops, restaurants or charity shops. Everything there is great, but could do with some variation
J. M.
😉 …
J. R.
Standard small town shopping centre. At least it all appeared to be occupied.
V. B.
A variety of shops always nice to while a few hours away. Free parking which is also nice
P. G.
Nice little arcade. A shame some of the units are empty. A range of shops available : stationary, charity, clothes, bakers, etc.
A. c.
Town full of charity shops . It's quiet and pleasant lots of coffee shops it's a shame Thornbury don't have more nicer shops most of it it's closed ....
V. N.
Nice complex with a free car parking . I’m sorry for whom have shop there as always empty .
C. R.
Sadly quite a few shops have closed down giving the Center a rather downbeat look but other than that there are still Aldi, opticians and W.H.Smiths
M. P. R. S.
Very well protected from your typical English weather, good atmosphere and friendly locals.
T. D.
Small but great for the size of (currently rapidly growing) village.

(Translated) Shopping center which is not really one. It is rather a gallery where we will be able to find a whole lot of stuff to offer. The idea is to enter it without the objective of finding something and letting yourself be guided by the moment. Brole or trinkets that will gather dust will be found there more quickly than useful things. A somewhat French place too. You can easily find this kind of messy place in Paris, much easier and more frequent to find. We go there especially for the originality and the street food which is nearby which is really worth the detour.
