Beautiful place and scenery. Nice place to go out on a sunny day. Lots of places to see. Plenty of places to eat. Cinemas and other activities are just 5 minutes walking distance away.
During busy hours, parking could be a challenge. But a great place for family with children to enjoy a day out.

Lovely old historical docks, that has kept some nice historical architecture features.
Do read up on the history, and at the old photos of the docks in its hay day , plus the sad times of the state of it all when everything closed, before it all got regenerated and reborn in to a new life.
At night it's truly gorgeous.
Plenty of options to eat and drink from every corner of the world.
Don't miss out on a walk all around the harbour , it definitely worth it, plus the added bonus of some good fresh sea air.
C. H.
I visited a good few years ago and wanted to see how things had progressed.... far more restaurants but not at all busy to be expected in a cold February. A lot of work being carried out on paving, etc....maybe Co e back in the summer
M. K.
One of the largest water fronts in Europe. Very spacious and well laid out.
Plenty of restaurants and shops to keep you occupied and entertained. Worth the visit and you can take a boat ride ftom Bute Park or vice versa.
R. A.
It was rainy outside but warm and friendly inside. Great for a date night or family meal. We enjoyed it all, and the cocktails were outstanding. It would be stunning sitting on their patio on a sunny day.
M. C.
Great place to spend an evening in. During the day you could also go on some boat trips. The place was clean & there were many good bars & restaurants. You also have affordable carparking on site. Great place to come out with family & friends 👍😁💥
A. H.
Nice place to spend a weekend. Lots of activities going on, many nice restaurants to choose from for food. We did a tour of the bay which was also really nice.
S. D.
Nice area to walk around. Had niece and nephews with me where they enjoyed seeing the dragon.
Enjoyed eating my first Welsh cake bought at a lovely little shop.
Nice place to visit if you haven't already...
C. M.
Great place for a walk a and a coffee 1st thing. Large funfair and plenty of places to eat if you are after some fun. Beach was lovely but needed a good litter pick.
E. M.
Enjoyed some time out with my son. Lovely walk around, if a little windy.
P. G.
Awesome place, localish for me. Sadly it's a 5 star place with 2 star people at the weekends. Also everything shuts so early, I could image how this would function in a EU city as oppose to UK slam all the food and as much drink as poss into you withing 3hrs!
There are some gems down here though, certainly worth going to explore. Be it the fayre, big wheel, Everyman Cinema, great choice of food, boat rides, cocktail bars and historical buildings, statutes and info. It's also surprisingly clean.
Fab place
M. B.
Really lovely, saw Roal Dahl's church, Ianto's shrine and had some really lovely ice cream from Cadwaladers
D. C.
Nice wide pedestrian area with space for cycling. Good views of the marina, enjoyable and safe to walk around at night. Popular spot, space to sit by the water. Places to eat and view wheel ride.
a. j.
So very busy! Who had the bright idea of going to Mermaid Quay on a bank holiday! As I take responsibility for that, I can say that I absolutely love the area. Bustling and fun. Lots of good quality eateries and gift shops. A great place to visit, there's always something going on!
A. S.
A beautifully quiet part of Cardiff to walk around but with shops, restaurants and cafes nearby. Plenty of interesting buildings and a must for fans of Torchwood with Ianto's Shrine and Torchwood Hub.
H.
I have to get around on a mobility buggy because I am disabled, so sat outside as it was a lovely evening. There wasn't much of a view from where I was sitting, but my waitress came out to serve me, and was very pleasant and helpful. The menu was good, and my garlic prawns with crusty bread really hit the spot!
I don't know about inside, but the service was very quick.
S. H.
I was very impressed with this place. They had tea for me which as a vegan was quite difficult to get in Wales as not many places seem to do milk alternatives. As ever I can only talk about my experience. They also had a vegan choice of food which was toasted tea cakes with Flora margarine. I really don't understand why there is not a vegan alternative to margarine or butter when it is so easy to do.
L. J.
Really love it here, bit noisy at the moment with work going on but apart from that so many places to eat, drink and sightsee.
S. J.
Love visiting here on a sunny day. Lots of places to eat and drink
P. Y.
Great place to visit, boat trip, exhibition, shops and restaurants, plenty to do
D. R.
Great place, lots & lots of eateries and loads to see & do and a good place to start the circular walk around the bay as you finish back here where you can resolve the hunger pains from the 2hr walk.
a. f.
Fab place lots to do and see great Restaurants too 😀
P. H.
Lovely walk around the Bay. Some ground work going on so be careful! Paving removed and fences up, but we were lucky with the weather so enjoyed it anyway. Had lunch upstairs at Bellinis (now joined up with Italian restaurant next door). We were able to sit outside on the terrace. Four of us in our group. We all thoroughly enjoyed the food and have already made plans to do this again next month (weather permitting).
B. R.
Awesome fun friendly lots to do really beautiful place to relax with the family
J. B.
Lovely atmosphere and plenty of places to eat and drink. We ate at Cote restaurant it was superb. The staff were efficient, friendly and really nice.
D. C.
Visited Mermaid Quay on a weekend break with my sisters in Cardiff.
Lots of places to eat and plenty of bars for drinks and cocktails.
Local taxi rank so no problems in getting home and reasonably priced too.
Places to eat varied from pizzas to more formal dining.
As with the bars, great places with live entertainment or you could sit and have a quiet drink.
We found everyone to be very welcoming.
G. J.
Nice place to walk around.
The restaurants were busy and the atmosphere was good.
Plenty to see and do, especially if you are a fan of Torchwood.
E. V.
Great place to stay, plenty of restaurants and bar options. Within easy walking distance of the centre. Had a walk around Cardiff bay following the snoopy trail down to the barrage.
S.
Great place to visit and spend the day Cardiff Bay and Cardiff castle
N. B.
Beautiful place to visit. Filled with bars, restaurants, coffee shops and beautiful views. Watch the boats as they sail on the waters whilst enjoying a coffee or a glass of wine. Great place for walking the dogs too.
B. H.
Out of season, but still fairly busy. The little play park is perfect for toddlers with a nautical theme. A lot of work being done presumably ready for the heavy business in the summer months to come. Its a nice spot and even in dreary weather a pleasant walk.
J. P.
It OK as a waterfront eatery. Plenty if choice. Prob better in the summer tho.
C. D.
Great location. Plenty of bars/restaurants. Great views over Cardiff Bay. Plenty of boat/rib trips available. Lots of seating. Senedd close by + Norwegian Church just a short walk away. Well worth a visit. Large car park close by too.
J. S.
So enjoyed my birthday night out, beautiful scenery and plenty of choice for drinkies 🙂
O. P.
Nice spot by the water to have some lunch, drink or a snack.
R.
Absolutely lovely in the day as well as evening, for a walk or a meal.
S. D.
Lovely place to visit has a wide range of eating places would recommend the eating looking over the bay some nice boutique hotels to stay and just ten minutes walk from bay is a lovely Thomas hotel
R. R.
I rarely get the time to visit Cardiff Bay these days with everything that's happened over the last couple of years so it was lovely to spend time this weekend especially having the Cosy club there!
M. N.
Truly wonderful place. I only view this as part of the torchwood & Dr Who series. But there is so much more to mermaid Quay and Cardiff Bay.
T. H.
Beautiful location, good walk, lots of restaurants, theatre, good for picnic and days out
K. K.
Looking very shabby unfortunately, broken tiles and paving slabs, graffiti everywhere. Very sad!
M. o. t. r.
Always lovely views and lively on the weekends. Could do with a nightclub so we don't have to trek into town afterwards, but good for a relaxed evening with friends or date night. Saw a dead duck in the water once 😂
T. C.
Lovely place to get a drink in and views are lovely outside!
H. W.
Nice selection of shops and restaurants down by the bay. Several different options for boat trips if you fancy going out on the water, you can even rent your own!
P. K.
Nice scenery with plenty of restaurants to have dinner while watching the sunset. You can also walk along the Quay and relax with Ice Cream during the day. A must visit in Cardiff
F. J.
Lovely place to visit for a stroll on a nice day!
G. T.
Nice and clean, even with major building works going on - thumbs up to the builders, for keeping their house in order! Great views from the Ferris Wheel and really enjoyable ice cream at Cadwaladers
M. G.
Great area for eating and exploring- funfair there for the summer 😃
J.
Always clean, friendly and open. Plenty of places to eat and relax. Open water to look out over and enjoy the views. Plenty of activity’s as well, open space to walk around and connections for water rides.
L.
Love this area! Filled with great places to eat, have a drink or just go for a good stroll. If you are a tourist or a local it's always a pleasant place to be. You can also find bikes to rent by use of a simple app all around the area which is a great activity to do if the weather allows it.
R. D.
Easy parking, and public transport, you can even get a water taxi back into Cardiff, great range of good and drink available, interesting history and walks. There must be something for everyone here.
J. H.
Pretty cool place to visit. I was under the impression there was going to be a beach area but didn't see one. Plenty to do here and definitely worth a visit.
C. W.
There is a holiday feel to this area of Cardiff Bay, especially when the sun shines. Plenty of places to eat and drink. Really nice venue for a day out
P. E.
It is a busy car park, but always a space as cars come and go very frequently. Spaces are a little tight, but not a disaster. Good idea to be ticketless and psychology when you leave via your reg number.
D. D.
Lovely place, I spotted a great white shark in the water but some aggressive woman and man was rudely shouting at me telling me it was a mullet, as if I was wrong? I’m not stupid a mullet is hair cut not a fish. Silly people
K. B.
An enjoyable visit to this area with interesting shops, cafes, restaurants and places to see such as the Norwegian church and government buildings. You can take various boat rides too.
j. s.
A bit of building and pavement renovation going on. It's a standard format with big chain restaurants and cinema. Get a small ferry boat from here into Cardiff Bute Park. That was a highlight. Can also walk around the Barrage to Penarth. Lots of history if you want to search it out.
S. J.
This a lovely location especially when the sun is shining. Numerous eating venues overlooking Cardiff Bay and nice to walk around the bay to the barrage.
A. M.
Very good but a lot of work going on laying new paving. Rather a poor quality rushed job. Some uneven pavers and unequal gapping. I can't see it lasting long due to the amount of footfall in the coming months.
A. R.
Jumped on the boat from the city and had a couple of hours at the bay.
Great buildings and a chilled out atmosphere. Nice weather to boot.
M. W. (.
Lovely place with some great places to grab some food and a small row of shops to pick up a few bits.
Also some great views of the local area
j. h.
Lovely day out. Extreme skateboarders, stunt bikes, scooters was fab to see. Lovely snack at cadwaleders and return to penarth on boat
.
S. M.
Nice shopping area and place to walk around
G. T.
Lovely place for a walk or bike ride, grab some food from the many restaurants. Take a boat ride, I recommend the Bay Island voyages, a trip in a speed boat great fun. Or take a leisurely walk to see the barrage calling in at the funfair on the way.
M. B.
Lovely place to wander round for an afternoon but I imagine it comes into its own on an evening - all the trendy bars and eating places right on the waterfront
T. R.
What a great place to see, took a water taxi down to the Quay from the castle, well worth it. Stunning scenery, good restaurants and so clean even though there was work going on replacing the pavements
a. p.
On a wet Wednesday evening the Quay was thronged with people & Restaurants were pretty full including Pizza Express where we dined for a pre theatre meal.
R. L.
Easy to get to by car and plenty of eating choices, but you can't help noticing it all looks a little tired.
P. R.
Lovely place especially on a sunny day. Lots of places to eat or drink and a great place to go for a walk.
B. S.
The Mermaid Quay in Cardiff Bay is a really nice place to go to. Loads of nice restaurants and bars that overlook the water gives you loads of options of places to go and visit and eat in Cardiff!
S. H.
If you go to Cardiff you simply must visit Mermaid Quay. It has a combination of shops, restaurants, bars coupled with buildings of stunning architure all in a beautiful picturesque setting. A truly lovely place
G. P.
Lovely to walk around during the day, but from 6pm, as the sun starts to turn everything yellow, it is a really beautiful place to be.
A.
Really great area, great vibe during the day and at night, nice mix of people, some really awesome places and to eat and drink, would definitely visit again!
L. H.
Very quiet when we visited on a warm but grey morning. Lovely to walk around or grab a drink and food and sit looking out across the water. Lots of different gulls, cormorants, ducks and friendly sparrows and if you look into the water you might get to see mullet feeding. Definitely worth a visit if you're in Cardiff.
A. “.
A great place to meet for a lunchtime catch up as well as brilliant choice of restaurants for pre theatre food and drinks.
D. N.
Great place to visit. Good selection of places to eat. I enjoyed the day very much.
M. L.
Great atmosphere 👌 amazing people
N. J.
Stunning vibrant place with great views of Cardiff Bay and lots to do. worth a visit.
Largely level, did not spot a lift to the upper decks.
Lots of eateries and bars (that do have loos), plus a local supermarket.
Close to the Millennium Centre and Ferries.

Marmaid quay is the finest place in Cardiff to visit with family and friends. It has really nice view of waterfront. You can enjoy a whole day walking around and going to many good restaurants. There are boats for small trips on the water. There are so many nice buildings and activities. You can only know when you visit.
T. B. C.
Amazing scenic beauty
S. Y.
Love it here, so many restaurants, cafes and lots to see including going fir a ride on either a speedboat or taxi boat xx

Lovely place to visit. Water is a beautiful view and the mountains on the other side. Shops are very outstanding with good logos and horse round a bout for children as well.
M. O.
Great place to enjoy the life. Especially in Summer. Ltd of bars and restaurants.
W. A.
Fab place, great shops, restaurants and brilliant fair for the kids at the mo 😊 lovely boat trips from the bay to the city centre, we loved it.
R. W.
Unfortunately it's starting to look really tired down the bay since its peak in the early noughties, esp mermaid quay. Really needs investment and not just by chain restaurants. It's such a great locale that is vastly under exploited.
C. H.
Was beautiful down there ! Only issue was finding the public toilets as there were no clear signs where they were !
G. B.
It will be great when it's finished (joke) but there is a lot of civil engineering work and pavement work going on. Still very cold and windy right now but very picturesque. Parking though??
That's a real issue.
G. R.
Not as good as Atlantic Quay, but nice restaurants and views. Ate at Bill's and rate that 5 stars. Stunning meal.
J. C. “. E.
A fabulous destination either during the day or evening.
Having visited the area regularly over the years I have to say it has developed superbly well into what it is now, a lovely place to relax, eat and drink.
There are many different eateries both chain and independents.
The daytime view is very pleasant but in the evening darkness it truly comes alive .
E. F.
Beautiful scenery. They also provide some information about uts aqua lives. Sadly, there were so many rubbish around the shore. People need to be more mindful about their rubbish.
G. B.
Lovely little cafe, so much choice on drinks and cakes with a great view to go with them!
R. S.
Plenty of places to grab a coffee or a vino with pretty views of the harbour. Friendly service. Shop around in prices as theirs varying establishments.

We came here mostly to get some welsh cakes and to see the Millennium Centre - the quay itself is quite nice and quiet, though a little grey.

Loads of good restaurants and entertainment with boat rides around the bay and the water taxi that goes to the centre of Cardiff all directly from the Quay. Free parking can be difficult, so either leave lots of time or look for a pay carpark that there are nearby.

The overall experience was lovely plenty of seating outside and options to get food and drinks to go. However there are no Public toilet facilities unless you trapse halfway down the barrage, which is not always convenient when desperate or have children/ disabled people with you. Wouldn't rush to go back there under current circumstances.
A. E.
Lovely location with a selection of some good restaurants
R. C.
Cardiff Bay is lovely, however, a lot of construction going on that is temporarily spoiling it.
M. B.
Wet day when here but still a great place to wonder about and chill
J.
Great place to go for a day out. Plenty to choose to eat as well. The shrine down by the water is very strange though. I think that should be removed. But other than that. Grand day out.
M. W.
A good unrestricted walk around a historic site.Harbour view and coffee shops are plentiful .
M. S.
This was a great spot in the Cardiff Bay. We sat upstairs which was very quiet. We had decent coffee and a cake, however would have liked to have seen more Gluten Free cakes (why it's only 4 stars)
O. J.
Love this place, they made it pretty for Christmas.
H. D.
Mermaid Quay is a parade of shops, restaurants, a comedy club and a cinema located in Cardiff Bay. It can be busy and lively when the weather's good; so you might want to pick when you visit. There are plenty of things to see in the area; and it's useful to have these eateries here. A numner of the restaurants are chains; but there are some good independents too. There are even a couple of small supermarkets here.
S. A.
Nice place to visit. Got off the river boat here.
E. K.
A good spot to take a stroll... And for those in love of photos
m. f.

Sadly lacking in places to sit, I was able to get a coffee in Gregg's, but due to lack of seating had to walk around with coffee. I know keeping distance is important, but seating is essential. Thankfully there was very little litter. Last year I visited, midday, every bin and seating area was overflowing with litter.
S. K.

Wonderful place. I love the sights and sounds. Wonderful. Amazing how much stuff is down there. From the cardiff at the beach to the huge amount amount other things that go around the year. We'll worth looking at the water tours and the barrage as well (minutes away). I live this place and love seeing everything about it. I love the amount of bars and restaurants too. A shrine to a fictional character is there (from torchwood/dr who). Go and see it!!! Have a little look out for the lego builds around there too. Also the place to go for the millennium centre. Everything in a small area. A great place for a day out.
A. R.
Beautiful views over the bay sometimes, ships and restaurants seem haphazardly arranged
A. B.
Ok. Nice day. Only down side it gets very busy when the weather is good. When we were there not many places where we could get food as very busy.

This whole boardwalk area took us back to visiting Monterrey in N.
America and the vibe was wonderful.
We hired nextbikes, stopped for a drop of fizz before departing on an aqua bus to Bute Park.
Loved Cardiff, we will be back.

Still a fantastic venue but COVID has taken its toll. First visit after 10 years and most local owners have given way to the big chains and many shops now vacant. They'll be back after COVID but currently only a glimmer of it's wonderful past
k. s.
Lovely place to go eat
M. A. F.
Wonderful good. Great service but very expensive
D. M.
Mermaid Quay received lots of development in the decade prior, turning it into a relatively pleasant evening out. In recent years, the Quay has received little attention, beyond the closure of some chain restaurants and the opening of others in their place.
C. F.
So much choice in restaurants at night. During the day there are boat trips and there were rides and attractions there. Well worth a visit.
