A brilliant part of town with a wide good collection of independent shops alongside plenty of retails, nightclub and bar venues. It's got a great balance of night time and daytime activities. Plus a good amount of green spaces and historical features/museums to explore.

Plenty of shops to look at . Away from Derby city centre . Sadler Gate is worth a visit.The Old Bell public has is on Sadler gate dates back to the 1600s I believe .

A lovely boxing day walk. Watch out for the parking ticket machine that takes your money but does not give a ticket. Was the first parking area. Went further down by the sea & that worked.

Came here a few days ago for lunch with family. It was easy to moor the boat & we all enjoyed the meal & drinks; we ate outside & noted provision had been made for dogs to have a drink, which our dog appreciated. Service excellent, pleasant atmosphere, we'll probably call in again as it's very handy being so close to the water.

Nice older part of Derby, feels quite different to the St Peter's Quarter. Lovely shops on Sadler Gate, and lots of lovely buildings if you look up!

This must include primark, as that's the only place near the cathedral I've been. Great shop great value, but why o why do people not have the decency to put clothes viewed back neatly...? Looks like my teenage daughters bedroom. Area for shops clean and tidy, pedestrian benches taken up by families and at times wet floor can be really sloppy, so take care when walking from shop to shop.

We were attending a wedding nearby, we had already booked somewhere else but checked out early due to hotel not being of a good standard! The staff were very helpful in letting us check in early so we could get ready for wedding. The room was basic but clean and all we needed for our night stay. The hotel is a lovely old building. Breakfast was fresh with lots of choice.

Cathedral Quarter is a must visit area of Derby, with many different shops, restaurants and boutiques to browse and take in, The cathedral itself along with the museum & gallery and the newly refurbished Silk Mill museum is sure to capture the imagination, not forgetting the many bars along the route.

When covid 19 is a thing of the past make sure you visit the cathedral quarter. Iron gate has excellent pubs which includes The dolphin which is Derbys oldest pub. The market hall is full of different sellers and is a fabulous building. Sadler gate is full of independent shops and a must to visit.

It's probably the last area that has escaped the town planners with their bulldozers. St James's street is a local historical enigma. There is a St James Street in Normanton. So why the possessive noun? Some business there are registered as ""St James" Street others St James's street. Even local historians offer no documented credible explanation. (Only assumption) the enigma remains. It's one of those things that makes the area visitable because the original street signs are still on the wall.
