Reviews of Durham City

Great place for a walk round the river. Even the town centre was bustling. Hire a boat and bob along at your leisure. Or take in the day/even life. It's an opener.

We really enjoyed a quite sunday walk in Durham, where much less busy than usual. A beautiful small city has so much more for you to explore.

Located on the River Wear, with Durham Cathedra and Durhaml Castle perched high up on its banks, the historic City of Durham is a very lively thriving centre to visit.
It's a wonderful place to visit for international cuisine, with many restaurants, street cafes and bars. There's even a cat cafe in North Road. The colourful market place has a street market on Saturdays.
Also enjoy the elightful Riverside walks with views of the Cathedral, and walk the city where you will no doubt be entertained by impromptu street performers.
It's a city to return to often as you will always find something new to do here.

Just come back from a break in county Durham, I went with an open mind ,but I must say the whole area is stunning. Beautiful scenery and countryside and really friendly people , but durham itself is really worth a visit, not much traffic and best of all only £2 pp return on the excellent park and ride.

I absolutely love Durham one of my favourite places

Tourists and students keep a pulse the town centre. Plenty of restaurant, cafés and bars. Visit the world heritage centre with the cathedral and castle. The cathedral was used for the filming of Harry Potter scenes at Hogwarts and Minerva McGonigles classroom. Look in the cloisters to find the clever secret sundial!!!

Historic Durham has all the shops you could want including many independents. Great for a couple of hours browsing.

It appears durham caters for food and drinks. Maybe stag and hen party's. Not sure bout shopping. Highly recommend if you want stag or hen night.

Durham has much of historical interest and the old town is similar to York. Good experience.
