Reviews of Cameron Toll Shopping Centre
P. K.
Exterior looks pretty amazing late 1980s !
We can get almost all stores.
s. h.
Been going here for years feel it's needs an update to compete with other shopping centres
d. u.
Was a good place however centre manager needs proper skills on how to run a shopping mall. It’s all toiletry shops now
L. B.
It is great having a small shopping centre a short distance from our house. The Sainburys supermarket offers a great selection but I also love that there is an Aldi. The fresh fruit & veg is great value.
There is a chemist, 2 banks, clothes shops, toy store, book store, gym & cafes.
There is free parking, a taxi rank, bus stops on the main road outside the centre. Also the bus that goes to the airport stops there.
There are public toilets and the centre is clean.
The two things I would ask the management to review.......ask the charity collectors & utility sellers to stop shouting to everyone as they approach them & stop people smoking at the entrance! 🤔.
**Edit** Great of the owner to reply but have you addressed the problems in the review. Where is the reply to that???
C. B.
The staff are very helpful and do their best to find exactly what you require from your holiday. We have known Paul the Manager for many years, he in the past spent over 2 hours sorting out a problem that we ourselves created. More like a friend to us than travel agent staff. Would highly recommend this travel company to anyone.
J. b.
Itz ok im sure you would find a shop there for your needs
L. 6.
A decent enough indoor shopping centre, with a good choice of shop's.
You have a bank, pound shop's, supermarket, card shop's and the like.
There are toilets.
Miss the old food hall upstairs, as the modern thing now is well known burger establishment.
Still feels like the 90's, but a decent centre and worth a visit.
G. R.
The closest shopping centre to where I live, fair amount of shops. I mainly use it for the Aldi and the pound shop.
A. S.
Banks, chemists, food, clothing and cafes tick all the shopping basics. Travel agents, book, toy and phone shops as well as video game and opticians add that bit extra. It's a descent size for its location, has ample parking and good bus and taxi links. It's clean, well maintained and staff are pleasant and helpful on the whole, across all the shops. Don't expect an out of town monster mall. It's somewhere that local people shop regularly, securely and confidently.
T.
This is an average shopping centre.
There are a few shops but not a lot to choose from and the products are not in a big variety.
There are a few supermarkets where you can buy food from.
It is accessible by bus, car or foot so that is a good thing.
There are sales once in a while but not a lot.
The Works- it is a good shop, very organised and with nice staff.
D. J.
Its an ok shopping centre, although there isn't a wide variety of shops - you have several phone shops and several opticians but the rest of the centre is a bit lacking
C. L.
Not bad - has a few good shops inside and a McDonald's and Costa outside. It lost its food court a few years ago, but it was struggling anyway so probably inevitable. The Sainsbury's is an impressive size. Only annoying thing is the sales people with stands in the middle of the centre who try to get your attention - it puts me off staying there a while.
A. S. N.
Good sized shopping centre with lots of parking. Has your usual shops (Sainsbury's, Aldi,Travel agent's Opticians and a Bank) also independent retailers. Has a useful food area to grab quick lunch. Overall a nice clean centre with facilities.
S. C.
Convenient and useful if you live near here (although its a busy area so plenty of roads to cross to get there) but not worth making the trip from elsewhere. Centered around a large branch of Sainsburys there are a selection of other shops there, but again nothing you wouldn't easily find elsewhere. A number of buses stop here and there is a decent sized car park.
S. M.
There are a pretty good variety of shops for a small shopping centre. Having two supermarkets (Sainsbury's and Aldi) is also pretty convenient. It would be better if more shops had longer opening hours in the evening and if the gym was ever going to be completed (it's been "opening soon" for over a year).
S. L.
My local shopping centre and I have no complaints. Covers most things - supermarkets, phone shops, chemist, stationery, fast food and a great wee gents barber. The Sainsburys in there is pretty big and sells most things you'd expect as well as clothes, toys and electronics.
P. R.
Mall style Sainsbury's and Aldi
L.
All shops inside are nice and varied although the building itself is horrendous to look at in 2018. With the addition of a ‘Drive Thru’ Costa and McDonald’s added to the the small car park makes it nightmare to park at the front anymore.
Aldi opened a store inside not long back, I think it balances out the prices with Sainsbury’s being the only supermarket there.
From New Look to toy shops, Barbers, Gym can’t forget the usual Greggs plus lots more it’s definitely handy for me as a local ‘all in one’ place for shopping!
K. S.
Great Shopping centre outside of town ...more for food shop as it's does not have many high street clothes shop just new look. Aldi have opened a large store there which is great along with Sainburys. Access to toilets is also availble .
C. F.
Cameron Toll is a fairly small centre but has enough shops to get most things you'd want to buy. A sufficient variety of shops but there's not many places to get any sit down food. There's a KFC in the car park....might just be a drive through? There's more than one bank, travel agents, coffee shops, Sainsbury's and a boots and semi chem. There's a New look and peacocks for clothes too.
There isn't a help desk, that I'm aware of. I'm not fully aware if there's any public toilets as I've never used them but I'd be very surprised if there weren't any.
L. B.
It's a place where dreams are made. They also have a CeX so you can sell your dreams when you no longer want them and buy some Blu Rays instead.
S. G.
Cameron Toll shopping centre is a smoked glass cladded building which as a kid always looked to me like it landed from space.
Inside though it's fairly typical of any shopping centre, outside there is ample free parking and a petrol station.
It houses two supermarkets, a large Sainsbury's for the more picky regulars and a brand new (2017) Aldi. The centre has got pretty much anything you need shop wise, Poundland, Boots, Clark's, a toy shop, a video games store, Thornton's, Greg's and a few more. Back in the day there was a food level with various restaurants and fast food outlets but flip that on its head and you get the new gym not open yet.
Anyhow it's pretty decent place all in.
G. S.
It's a shopping centre - you kind of know what to expect. Big car park, never full, you can always get a space. Mainly go there for the massive Sainsbury's - there are a few other shops too, chemist's, computer shop, toy shop, phone shop, thar sort of thing.
M. F.
Pretty good shopping center. You've got Saintsburys and Aldi, the pound shop, Costa coffee, a couple of banks, phone shops, clothes (New Look), post office and various other little things (optician) and some pop up stalls in the middle, usually selling phone cases and the like.
N. M.
Decent shops a bit caotic as the building of aldi is in the last stages and food is being placed on the shelves. Generally clean most shops are inviting and others not so much but good for what u need if cant get into town for watever reason.
I. S.
Nice shopping mall with a selection of shops from cheap to expensive, with Aldi and Sainsburys for groceries and Costa, Subway, Greggs and McDonald's (which is not directly inside). The mall has a good connection to city center by buses and taxis waiting in the stop most of the working day hours
D. M.
I worked in a shop here that's sadly no longer around from when I was 16 to like 19. I'm 28 now and after the store shut down I was moved to another one in Princess street and didnt go back to Cameron Toll again until last year. It was crazy how much it changed, it's a pretty decent mall still, I dont have much interest in much of the shops but it brings back some memories whenever I go there. I do feel it's a bit cluttered with all the wee stalls and units now though. Good to see it has improved alot and is still going strong, would be sad to ever see it close, I've got a lot of good memories of the place.
M. S.
Like a look around Cameron Toll. Not too many top end clothes stores but good for every day clothes and Sainsbury's always good for food shopping. Boots always handy and of course large Aldi store too.
V. R.
Can be very busy, but has a good range of shops, including a post office, a variety of clothing / footwear shops, grocery shopping, etc. Parking is plentiful, and the centre is well maintained. Hosts a variety of different stalls during different weekdays.
C. G.
Cameron Toll is an average shopping centre which apart from the Sainsbury's is nothing to write home about.
I. M.
Been here a few times, no matter what you are after you will find it here, electrical goods to books etc.
Nice staff in all the shops and plenty off parking places.you can also get buses to this shopping centre, which stops outside the shopping centre.
Thanks for reading my review , appreciated.
T.
Good selection of shops loads of free parking or bus very close to door. A pleasant change inside isn't too busy so less claustrophobic than a lot of places
H. G.
Good shops and free parking.
Although it's great to have a 24hr mcdonalds... its got pretty poor service. But the centre is great!
L. M.
It's like travelling back in time to the 90's. Could do better, but really convenient location.
E. &. J. A.
Nice place to shop.. shopping feels at ease here. No too much bustling..but could be at Christmas- of course it's Christmas!
A.
Really handy to buy things from and lots of shops to choose from. Has a huge Sainsbury inside and nice places to eat. Also has a big parking lot.
S. S.
Good shops I'm certain that the addition of the gym and Lidl will make it more popular. There's also a great Park (Inch park) nearby which has a lovely wee play park and picnic tables.
L. J.
A convenient local shopping mall with supermarkets, banks, travel agents and other shops. Thankfully just one main mall which doesn't exhaust you during your visit! Good for parking and buses.
R. M.
A great centre where you can find almost anything you want. Convenient parking and bus travel and with an airy and pleasant ambience.
J. R.
I just love going to this centre. It's not got a lot of units but Sainsburys is large with a cafe. It's got the right mix of retail units and you can still get what you want, in a budget.
A.
Really handy to buy things from and lots of shops to choose from. Has a huge Sainsbury inside and nice places to eat. Also has a big parking lot.
A. D.
Good selection of different shops all under one roof including a number of stalls running down the main concourse. Plenty of parking and can get busy during holidays and weekends.
I. M.
Been here a few times, no matter what you are after you will find it here, electrical goods to books etc. …
S. A.
The centre is laid out nicely for customers, a few customers don't pay attention to the walking order of the centre, ie walking on the right side either way from end to end, slightly frustrating seeing social distancing should be adhered to..
B. S.
I've been using Cameron Toll Shopping Centre for years, and whilst the shops may change, I've always enjoyed coming here. Be it for the Sainsbury's, WHSmiths, banking, travel options, it's always great. And now it has Aldi! Brilliant!
D. N.
Its got a great selection of shops and stalls from small to large all conveniently located under one roof. A new gym is opening up which offers cheap monthly fees with no tie ins.
J. G.
Ticked all the boxes I needed to and it deserves a star for quirk value... it's one strange looking building. Inside is definitely a bit tired and the selection of stores is eccentric but the new Costa and McDonald's show that it's days aren't quite done yet!
M. W. (.
It's getting better, a few empty units for a while but now got businesses in. It's got Sainsbury's, Aldi, Card factory, Boots, Warren James, Waterstones, WH Smith, Costa, Subway, Thorntons, TSB, Few Phone Shops, Cex, Entertainment Toy Shop, Claire's Opticians.
X. S.
Good shopping place containing banks, Costa, Sainsbury's, pound world, boots, clarks and some other shops. Quite convenient for the people bother to go to city centre.
J. A.
Not a great selection of unique shops, could get the same things on any high street. Parking is good though, and if you all you need some of the basic high street vendors like boots or sainsburies, it's great.
M. R.
Reasonable shopping centre with a decent range of shops. Not many empty units. Has a mix of clothes shops, toy store, chemist, coffee shops and soon to be two supermarkets. Public toilets.
L. J.
A convenient local shopping mall with supermarkets, banks, travel agents and other shops. Thankfully just one main mall which doesn't exhaust you during your visit! Good for parking and buses.
d. f.
Saintsbury, the Gym, Gregg's and Bank of Scotland, together with many other shops. I sometimes come here mainly to buy some food to go, but the Gym is likely to turn it into a most visited place in the near future
L. W.
No to bad, ok if you need a quick grocery shopping, but not if you are looking for something that little bit special to wear for an evening out as clothes shops seem to be geared towards the older generation.
T.
Good selection of shops loads of free parking or bus very close to door. A pleasant change inside isn't too busy so less claustrophobic than a lot of places
Z. A.
Relatively small mall, really. Totally dominated by the Sainsbury's. Some other nice shops too, but overall not as full featured as say the Gyle.
J. S.
Containing Aldis, Sainsburys, bank of Scotland, subway, couple clothes stores and glasses places. Kept pretty clean as well. Protip: Aldis is cheaper for just about everything, but its a smaller selection and their fruit and peanut butter are terrible.
R. M.
Has most of the shops that you would need, including a generously sized Sainsbury's which is the only reason we shopped here. Not particularly inspiring but fit for purpose.
I. P. B.
The only shop that it is worth it, it is the Sainsbury's, as it is a big one and it is not very pricey. The rest of the shops, you can find better deals at other branches, specially clarks, cheaper in the outlet (Livingstone)
K. S.
Cameron Toll shopping center is a shopping center within easy reach of most of the south side of Edinburgh with good quality shops. It could do with a bit of upgrading in regards to eating facilities and perhaps some cinemas and restaurants could be built.
R. B.
Hi, can you please increase some security inside the mall? Smoking is so rampant inside the mall. Its really disappointing. People smoke so freely inside the mall. Is that how it is supposed to be?
D. S.
It's ok. Problem is that it has been designed in the 1970's and thus did not anticipate the rise of car usage. So car parks are often full.
One large supermarket and mainly chain shop branches.
f.
Very well organized place, good variety of shops.
t. i.
Got everything you would really need in a small shopping centre , just need the long awaited gym opened up now
J. G.
Ticked all the boxes I needed to and it deserves a star for quirk value... it's one strange looking building. Inside is definitely a bit tired and the selection of stores is eccentric but the new Costa and McDonald's show that it's days aren't quite done yet!
J. W.
Not been on this place 4 a lo g time but I must say that I enjoyed my self very much and the shops r much better that what they used 2 b yes I would deco go back again
J. J.
Been shopping here for years. They have kept the same all this time the odd new shop but still a great place to shop.
J. P.
Pretty much everything you need. If you're lucky, there might be some Turkish tidbits on sale.
M. R.
Reasonable shopping centre with a decent range of shops. Not many empty units. Has a mix of clothes shops, toy store, chemist, coffee shops and soon to be two supermarkets. Public toilets.
C. K.
Great place to go to plenty of shops taxi rank outside even has times of buses at main door there is a Gregg's & a Subway and a cafe for food and drink an Aldi store and seats to sit on
D. M.
I worked in a shop here that's sadly no longer around from when I was 16 to like 19. I'm 28 now and after the store shut down I was moved to another one in Princess street and didnt go back to Cameron Toll again until last year. It was …
D. M.
Nice little shopping centre. Not alot of shops but still good .coffee shops aswell for having a break. Plenty of spaces for parking also
W. W.
Fairly small shopping precinct, but a fair variety of shops and two drive-thru's (Mcdonalds and Costa). Free wi-fi. Easy disabled access.
Z. H.
Always nice. Budget shops to costa coffee. Stalls and banks tsb and bank of scotland. Thornton lovely icecream. To outside mcdonalds plenty of parking.
D. C.
Needs a Post Office! The P.O. at Walter Scott - closed. The P.O. at Glenvarloch - closed. Now anybody with a parcel to post has to walk up a steep hill to Liberton. A Post office in Cameron Toll would increase footfall in the centre and be a boost for all.
m. r.
It was possibly my best trip yet even with it being busy as I had my daughter with me and she has learning difficulties and can't handle the noise but she was great and so we're the staff in all the shops we went into it was a great trip
L. S.
An interesting shopping centre with some of the usual suspects and a couple of oddities. It's very handy to have a Sainsbury's and an Aldi in the same place.
P.
has quite a few shops. easy to get to if your in Edinburgh. hasn’t got everything however it’s got quite a bit so you’ll probably be able to find what your looking for!
D. C.
Typical shopping centre having plenty car parking and interesting variety of shops. Quailty coffee shops and cafes featured as well as banks and building societies
D. M.
Nice little shopping centre. Not alot of shops but still good .coffee shops aswell for having a break. Plenty of spaces for parking also
R. K.
It's a shopping center. Nothing brilliant or detracting. Just a place to spend your hard earned money. Free parking. Easy walk from about 100 hotels and B&Bs. Down the street.
D. B.
In the end stage of a refit, but it has a decent choice of shops - Waterstones, Game, Sainsburys and Aldi being the main draws, but there's plenty of clothes and accessories stores
Food court upstairs is gone, being slowly replaced with a gym, but there's still decent food options - mostly takeaway now, like Gregg' s or Subway - and parking is free!
D.
Central shopping centre for the Newington area of Edinburgh dominated by a large Sainsburys usually plenty of parking but parking will be busy if you go at the weekend during the day.
L. R.
Lots of different shops so no matter what your looking for you will 90% find it plus food shopping there aswell and cafés baker's etc. It's also very close to bus stops taxi rank and outside also there's costa's McDonald's and a huge car park.
R. F.
After transforming the upper cafe level in the center into a Gym there is a little more activity in the evenings with the super markets open till 8 & 10pm currently.
J. H.
Access is good and inclusive with many retail outlets plus 2 supermarkets - Sainsbury's and Aldi.
P. D.
Good range of shops. Parking can be limited at times since new drive thrus and Aldi have opened.
J. H.
Great range of shops here. Communal areas could do with a little TLC but the stores are all really good & well maintained.
T. M.
Fairly small shopping centre with limited options. If you want lots of choice, Prince's Street would be a better option, but for small essentials this shopping centre is more than good enough.
J. D.
Decent shopping centre in Edinburgh. A little supermarket heavy for my tastes but other than that, not a bad place to go.
R. N.
Good stores, huge Sainsbury's and addition of banks is handy too.
E. H.
Everything you need for Christmas is here.
T. S. G.
Good shopping centre, What you need and free parking.
Phone shops
O2
EE
Carphone warehouse
Three
Some good clothes shops
Supermarket Aldie and Morrisons.
Coffee shops and travel agents.
B. G.
A great shopping centre good quality and quality of shops, banks , even a gym very clean and plenty free parking has a petrol station as well and coffee shops
H. Y.
Big shopping center with a large Sainsbury's, poundworld, W.H Smith, Bank of Scotland and stores for gifts and clothes. Also there are gas station and huge parking lot outside.
G. M.
Not the greatest range of shops but a good sized free car park and a large Sainsbury's as well as a new Aldi store.
J. L.
Easy access; always has parking places; combine all trips into one trip as it has grocery store, pound store, fashion stores, toy stores, book store, and bank...
m.
Sainsbury's and Aldi are all I need for quick grocery shopping. Nice, compact shopping centre with lots of smaller shops to please everyone.
D. I.
Most of the shops are good. The place has a 60s feel to it and I've noticed that it's very rare for people to smile while in there.
L. D.
Not bad shopping centre which is currently expanding, huge Saintsbury's but sadly the small food court is no longer there so only the cafe in Saintsbury's for now.
A. S.
Mostly a large Sainsbury which is open late all days off the week. Nothing fancy but clean and cheerful.
D. M.
Easy to get to and free parking. Great range of typical shops. New Aldi opening.
J. K.
Always feels like a bit of a ghost town. Has a Sainsbury's, a petrol station, and the usual shopping centre staples like WH Smiths. Looking pretty tired and dated, and not in a particularly convenient part of town.
P. H.
Great wee shopping centre pretty much all ya need in one place. Ample parking and facilities
J.
The usual shops that you find in any small shopping centre. Seemed to be areas that were under refurbishment at the time we went. Plenty of parking available.
U. N.
With a number of stores to choose from, this shopping center is an awesome place to shop. It's also clean and has nice coffee shops to take a break at.
H.
Ok basic shops, better now it has a Aldi. Can be a bit chilly walking or sitting anywhere in the centre.
L. B.
This is a nice shopping center with a good variety of shops. All the shops are chains though and nothing is independent so you won't get anything unique but it's a nice centre for the sainsberrys.
M. B.
Love this shopping centre everything u really need in one place only others thing they need is a post office there should be one here as it's always packed
R. H.
Pretty average but parking is free so that's great. The outside looks a bit dated but shops are all fine.
A. C.
Efficient small shopping centre providing basic needs. Supermarkets are open till 10 am.
J. C.
Not the greatest range of shops. Tho is improving with McDonald's and costs drive throughs. The gym opening soon.
C. C.
Useful but small shopping centre. Has Sainsbury's, and a recent addition, an Aldi. Other shops are standard fare for small mall
S.
Pretty good shopping centre. Has a variety of shops, including a big sainsbury's and an Aldi
Q.
The perfect place for quick shopping
s. b.
Nice little shopping mall, got everything you need.
D. R.
Range of shops. Something there to cater to everyone. Pleasant environment. Good location and parking
E. &. J. A.
Nice place to shop.. shopping feels at ease here. No too much bustling..but could be at Christmas- of course it's Christmas!
C. G.
OK for small shops or just a wander. There isn't a food court anymore, but you can still have a Gregg's or something from Costa
R. G.
Neat and convenient. Where ever you are in the city you're probably able to get here on one bus. Has one of the largest Sainsbury's I think I've ever seen
S. B.
Good mix of shops for the size of the building, and a choice of places to eat. Main benefit is free parking
L. W.
Plenty places to eat, easy for busses good shops, banks, you can even book your holiday here what more can you ask for
O. O.
I love this centre. It has the variety of clothes, homewear and food , travel shops and banking facilities. Very convenient.
M. B.
Handy but the stalls on the walk at get in the road and some sellers can be pests. Good for shopping.
S.
Convenient as Inch Park is right next to the car park,so I can walk my dog and do shopping at the same time. Shops are unpleasantly crowded weekends.
D. T.
Nice little selection of stores plus a quite large Sainsbury's for all your shopping needs
M.
Free parking and there are a small variety of shops, with a supermarket and places to eat like Gregg's, Costa coffee and McDonalds. Also there is a gym now!
J. K.
Good place for all kind of shopping. Food, clothing, games, body care ... etc. And after you can sit down and relax with a coffee.
S. P.
A few good shops although some going out of business security in the center are a bit of a joke they ate to busy trying to get dates than doing security avoid here make the extra journey and go to the gyle or the fort
J. C.
There is parking available, but the overall feeling is that this looks like an outdated shipping centre. It isn't particularly large but there is a somewhat diverse set of stores. Nothing great, but satisfies some basic needs.
J. N.
Smaller out of town shopping centre. Good range of shops. Clean and tidy. Free parking.
n. m.
I love this shopping centre because Costa Coffee shop and plenty of parking spaces. And as usual all shopping centre facilities are available here.
B. Z.
Great mall to do some shopping. I do find the kiosks on the way to the shops quite annoying. They always try to stop you and sell you stuff you don't need.
J. W.
Not been on this place 4 a lo g time but I must say that I enjoyed my self very much and the shops r much better that what they used 2 b yes I would deco go back again
S. M.
It's a nice place for shopping u don't need to worry when it's rains I feel peace to shop in here wish have many more shops in here
A. G.
Big Sainsbury’s and Aldi supermarkets but barely any selection of clothing or shoes
J. N. K.
It's a big inside shopping mall and there are lots of places were you can have something for a quick bite.
A. F.
Edinburgh's first shopping mall. Mainstay is a large Sainsbury's supermarket. Food hall no longer in use but coffee shops and Saintsbury's café make up for it.
A. K.
With Aldi coming soon I wonder how Sainsburys would survive that!
There used to be food court but now there will be a Gym.
S. M. (.
Good selections of shops but very outdated design. Should be heavily redesigned (after saying so for many many years).
A. B.
Feels like it's lacking in a decent choice of shops. A few worth visiting if you are looking for something specific, but in my opinion lacks inspiration.
P. J.
It's OK, wouldn't go out my way to go there specifically and the petrol station is handy for that side of town .
G. B.
Always nice to go for shopping at Cameron Tall, big Sainsbury's, bank and lots of other stores.
D. S.
Good shopping centre if your not going to O2. Went specially opens 09.30, still not open at 10.30.
S. H.
Good number and variety of shops. Not many places to eat though apart from costa and sainsbury cafe.
B. S. N.

L. R.
Parking is awful, the road layouts are dangerous, but shops are ok, just the usual that u get everywhere tho, nothing fancy.
J. C.
Always seems to be empty units and doing away with the food court was a mistake. A crappy McDonalds does not replace what you had before.
M. C.
A bit tired, but starting to modernise, Cameron Toll's main feature is still Scotland's original Sainsbury's, which HAS improved over the years.
L. S.
