Reviews of Shawlands Arcade
Lots of great second hand shops. The arcade very dated (good news about new shopping centre) shops there assorted and a good bargain can be purchased.
Lots of nice coffee shops and pubs to chose for an afternoon meal . A nice place to spend a day browsing.
Some shops that are good to shop at but needs a lot of improvement and way more variety than already is maybe my rating is quite high.
Not a bad place but i am sure the potential of Shawlands arcade is better than what it currently is.
Not much left most shops have closed hopefully when they upgrade eventually it will be nice.
Visited Sally's hair products, very helpful staff, very friendly, will be back there .
Small place to shop everything, and also you will find a 2 hour free parking.
It is a bit tired and the closed stores are noticeable as there is very little there.
But was tidy and clean.
Love the pidgeons nesting in the anti-bird nets, the amazing "almost has everything you can imagine at a price you can't believe" (take that how you will) hardware shop AND the lovely wee fruit and veg stall - the dude sets up his wares even when its freezing, there's frost and/or snow the ground and the wind howls - total respect. I like both Pounstretcher, B+M, I dig Shaw Trust and to bargain hunt in Iceland .. there is a wee Sainsburys but its an unknown land to super frugal shoppers like me 😁 I hope the council don't give the owners permission to demolish the place - the proposed "improvement" plan 'sucks and blows' big time ...
Use be nice area in 10 years ago in Shawlands. Not not now in 2020 all shopping centre are closing down in Shawlands Arcade.
Good that Car Park is free for a couple of hours if you're doing a wee bit of shopping or banking.
Normally so good , but this morning no checkouts on!! Had a fully trolley for my mum, had to try put it all through self check out!! It was nearly impossible that size of shop in small area! Machine kept stopping!! Assistant spent her whole time running to fix machines with no social distance. Had she been behind the cash desk, she would have been safe behind the screen and more customers would have been served faster and safer!! It wasn't her fault, bad management this morning!!
Meh. Old, archaic, dilapidated. A neds paradise in the MAXWELLS bar. The underclass mingle in their version of social distancing, which involves tattooed ne'erdowells remonstrating wildly, centimeters from their friend's face, in an act of modern alpha male grandstanding.
Cheap beer tho so enjoy the circus on your no frills night out.
Good shop but a bit on the smal sied for serton shops tho
Hardly any shops now very poor
There's a little furniture charity shop called Debra's and it's fantastic ☺️ prices are great and the furniture and bric a braca is also wonderful, must visit,if you're in the market for anything from a kettle to lamp to computer desk to bed and sofa, they've got it all👍👍👍👍
Empty shops, sad to see them empty.
Bm is very.good I can get what I wont
There is 2 hrs free parking in the carpark there. The car park is badly laid out with columns. It's gloomy but free! The arcade is ok with some shops & stalls. There is a selection of places to eat across from the arcade. It's a bit of a ghost town just now due to covid.
It’s got thing u need and PureGym inside makes things easy
You can get more Bank service and shopping
Great wee area to do your shopping and banking. Maybe a quick little visit to the gym? Haha amazing mun
Heard it was being pulled down to make way for flats, shame as it's a nice shopping arcade and has a lot of good shops.
That is, if it's true.
Feels pretty run down.
One of many not big shopping centers. Physically it is not big but they have a large selection of goods. Restaurants and cafes, shops on various topics. If you do not want to go to the city price during rush hours because there is a problem with parking or too many people, then this place will be an alternative for such people.
I like the arcade. Its nostalgic for me but some of the shops are pretty decent too. Great wee hardwear store at the very back which literally sells everything and anything. Full of gym buffs these days all tanked up on protein shakes, buzzing cause they can get a gym membership for like 10p a year. The framers is a great store too which has done well to survive this long. Used their services a few times.
Bigger variety of shops that I thought bought something I'd tried to buy at home bit couldn't enjoyed my short time there only dissapointing thing was lack of public toilets don't like using pubs would have been 5 stars bit for that
Jason's gym has been trying to do something different since it first opened. This is a good a gym as you will find anywhere...
Weird multi storey car park
AsShawlamds arcade isn't what it used to be there's a couple if shops left in it. A hardware store fruit stall key cutting and there's a small Farmfoods and the gym. It's handy to park at so you can go out to the main road were all the shops are.
Gym is the best thing there.
Fruit and veg seller is amazing delivers aswell.
Shops are a dump. Ran down.
I like it. Some not bad shops. Maybe a bit tired but well passes the bar as i live close plus a few places you can have a beer too
I like this shopping centre always clean and less traffic
Very good opening times and a lot of nice shops around. Quite a good place to go to PureGym fitness as well if you are into that.
Descents wee bargain shops around it rather dead in the arcade tbh but I use the Pure Gym which is 24 hrs and top notch
Beautiful place as such shopping for small and unique items are available in Shawlands ie B$M, Boots, Superdrug, Banks, Restaurant etc. Bus stop is very close to the shops and we get taxi too. I liked the place for shopping very much
It's looking very run down, it used to be full of shops in the arcade but no more. Silverburn's not too far away and has everything you need.
Got a few good shops but nothing like it was a few Years back. Parking is rubbish. half of one of the carparks closed off due to roof faults. Badly In need of a big refurbishment.
Nice place for shopping:)
Has variety of shops & even a gym inside now. Support your local area & shop here. Have Posted pics will add to review in detail and stores individually as I can. X
Great variety of shops and bars, everything you could want in an arcade
Go here for Farmfoods as it is a larger branch with a larger range. Also free parking for 2 hour. Just remember to display the ticket dispensed from the machine.
As it is on Kilmarnock Road you can access the other shops such a B & M, Iceland and a new Pound land that has just opened.
Always very friendly staff
It's a bit tired these days but two interesting shops are there for some different gifts.
Shawlands Arcade has improved slowly since the did the original redevelopment all those years ago, when it went from a groups of shops, toilets and the Shawlands Hotel. If it rains, you got wet. That was many years ago now when they pulled down most of the Arcade to create a covered mall experience.
It has taken years to get the right mix of shops. Which I think they now have. The only thing I still miss, is Woolworths. But I now enjoy the Shawlands Arcade experience.
I don't particularly like this Arcade I never have. The shops are ok. It's handy for the folk that live nearby
It's got a little bit of everything that you are looking for, some of the shops are great for household items and cheap food too.
Staff are really good, the two younger girls are always friendly and welcoming. They tell me what gluten free foods are available.
Good open space with a lot of good shops and a gym (open 24hrs) there's art shops, (not always open mind you), charity shop and a kiosk for fresh fruit and veg, a watch repair, farmfoods, Sainsburys the list goes on, defo go 👍🏻
There are some shops, it is easy accessible for the local community, but it can't compete with modern malls in term of variety and comfort.
Nothing much there a small Sainsbury's and b&m & cheap shops with some qaulity stuff but its not the same when in the 70s & 80s where you could get great stuff missing all the old shops that used to be there if only i could go back in time to see all the old shops that i miss like Woolworths
Shawlands Arcade is home to a really gnarly handrail situated at the far end from town which every single skateboarder who's passed through Shawlands has definitely dreamed about. There's another really tall rail just up the side of the street which the gnarly rails on, and loads more to skate around the back on the roof. Yet another underrated southside skate spot.
Eyesore but also the heart of the community
Every shop you need, well spaced and plenty of parking if you go round back
Been going here since I was a child. It has a good variety of shops, banks etc
BUSY AND VIBRANT EVEN WITH PRESENT SITUATION(CORONA)PLENTY OF AMENITIES CAFES,RESTAURANTS,PUBS GOOD CHOICES.
Nice friendly place all shopkeepers are helpful and friendly
Plenty of eateries and some shops,if you want to go at a slower pace. Nice atmosphere too, I think that's what counts.
The heart of Shawlands.
Lots of local shops. Perfect For small shopping.
Not many shops remain open but I go for the puregym. The gym carpark definitely needs attention.
When is this getting knocked down and rebuilt? Still an eyesore, but decent range if shops and leisure
Good shops and a lot of charity shops
And near queens park
Good we shops good selection of them n a great we pub across the road does lovely food sorted xx
Not much to see but one expensive charity shop selling a large.dirty&well used sofa for £165 which was nowhere close to costing that much.it should have been given away..shame on them
Not been in shawlands arcade for years much nicer and better shops
Iceland home delivery ..b&m homestore...train straight home.no brainer...wee cafe before train nice burger.
Good variety of cheap shops a bit too overcrowded for my liking.
Rather run down inside but good selection of shops outside.
Local gym and i really love it! Great staff and atmosphere, it is a shame Three Network don't get any service inside but no matter as there is O2 wifi
Really tired looking needs a complete face-lift. Access and parking not great either
It was ok. Was actually at curry place across the road so don't assume I was at the gym in the picture
A great wee arcade with free 2 hour parking. Great charity shops and eating places if that's your cup of tea!!!
Gym, shopping area, key cutting, convenience stores and a parking lot. All within reach. Nice place for families.
Shawsland's in Glasgow is alright but great. Convenient handy for quick products.
What other shopping arcade can you buy your messages, some furniture and have a pint whilst the kiddies can safely play in Whale of Time. Superb
Nice for a little shop around, lots of different shops to choose from.
Great for parking and plenty shops,, cafés,, pubs to keep you entertained,, there's even a gym...
Not a lot to see In here anymore.
Two hours free parking. Average shops. Ok for quick visit if you want to avoid town centre.
The old lady of Glasgow. Shawlands arcade. Been there forever and showing its age. Getting massive refurb this year. It will be the jewel in Glasgow's. Crown can't wait.
Great experience, lovely place. Got 8 packs of skins for £2. So many js!
We used the Arcade a lot when we lived in shawlands it was great when it came in use at the time
Looking a bit run down many shops are charity shops, has good sainsbury and banks and the carp parking towards rear good value
Met friends in Sir John Stirling Maxwell for food and drinks prices reasonable staff at bar fairly quick at servings food arrived in reasonable time food /drink decent prices for area
Difficulty in parking. If you know what you require, go. If you want to browse difficult
Shawlands arcade has got a superdrug . B&m homestore tsb Bank Kirkwood fashion Card factory Debra charity shop poundstretcher .
Great if you like shopping in bargain shops, Poundstretchers, B&Ms etc. Good selection of cafes, coffee shops and restaurants
It does the job. Parking options and good choices in shops
Not much to the place quite boring just couple of art shops and charity shops and pure gym which is good
I LIKED IT I ORDERED CHICKEN PASTIE IT WAS GOOD I DON'T NOT LIKE A LOT OF SUGAR THERE IS IAM A LOT OF SELECTION WHICH IS GOOD
A good selection of shops and two hours of free parking.
Excellent shopping centre, there are lot's of new renovations happening all the time. Therefore always changing.
Not to bad is the arcade. Few shops plus a gym in there. Can't complain.
Not too bad shopping centre to escape the elements ..shops outside are good...All very central...

Great variety of shops and stalls indoor.
The inside is very quiet, but the outside has lots of shops!
Nice place to shop but not that great to park your car 🚙
Great school, visited to enrol my daughter
Sad Run down shopping area.
Santander closing in July also the Clarkston Branch. Nearest will be city centre or East Kilbride.
I like Shawlands it has a good vibe and the shops at the arcade must be included in the refurbished new development
Not very nice shopping area kind of run down
Needs refurbishment
Not many shops left in shawlands, could do with more clothes shops. Not much choice, charity shops, pubs, restaurants galore
Convienient parking on top. Boutiques inside. Don't expect too much but it does feel community..

If rumours are true, it will be a sad thing if it disappears, an iconic landmark in the area, already seen the jewellers close down, Who will be next.

Could have been a really good shopping area if it been designed with easy access from Kilmarnock Rd....

Good place for shopping. Took the kids to the indoor play . Good day out for a wee change
Sadly looking it's age, still has a buzz about it though.
There's a decent range of shops but the Arcade is a little run down.
Really nothing much here compared to its early days, not a great choice of shopping options.
Just went to the bank. Bit of a climb up from the pavement if like me you have a lung problem.
Enjoyed visited there for coffee or pints or wee shopping. Been there for long time.
