Reviews of Leeds Corn Exchange
G.
Gosh what a wonderful find today. We walked from the Leeds Dock area & saw this beautiful building. Incredibly beautiful inside tastefully updated. Lovely little shops & coffee area. The architecture is stunning as indeed are all the historic buildings around this area. Well done Leeds.
E. R.
Such an incredibly beautiful building. Wide-open spaces & all it's original glory has been maintained.
Lovely independent shops selling unique clothes, plants & art.
I didn't try the coffee shop but it did smell deliciously of fresh coffee & baked bread.
If you ever visit Leeds you should take a look in this place.
W. H.
Interesting place for design stores, unique shops. Beautiful old building. Charming on the inside. Ongoing road works may prohibit people from visiting.
H. M.
beautiful building with a nice variety of shops here. there’s a souvenir shop on the ground floor where i happily got cheap fridge magnets from. also noticed there were 2 stores with adorable doggos :) it was pretty quick to get around the whole block
M. M.
A beautiful building full of quaint individual shops. A lovely coffee shop too. It was a quiet retreat from the roadworks outside.
L. S.
In my opinion, the Corn Exchange is a brilliant location and a must-visit in Leeds. The atmosphere is lively and the shops and stalls on offer are varied and interesting. I love the beautiful building (which is very photogenic) - I just wish there were more cafes.
I. G.
Lovely place with independent shops and cafes. If you appreciate architecture, are looking for new photo opportunities or want to discover different shops, this is the right place.
h. s.
Quirky little independent shops within a wonderful old building. There was a whisky festival there which created a fun atmosphere
C. K.
This is one of several hubs of life in Leeds. Erected in the 1800s, it an iconic, historic part of Leeds, past present and hopefully a long, long future. Its dome shape adds character to the city centre and the markets area with some of the country’s exciting highstreet names within walking distance. It is accessible to an extent for wheelchair users too. Fun shops, clothing, coffee, laundry. Its a slice of Leeds, trendy and quaint, very much worth a visit. Parking is fairly close and buses are assuredly regularly and frequent.
S. L.
The Corn Exchange is a must see just for the architecture and beautiful Victorian styling.
Boasting a good range of mostly independent shops, there is a wide range of things on sale. The exchange is well maintained, clean, bright and maintains the Victorian character.
It has toilets on the upper level, and one should bear in mind only the bottom floor is wheelchair accessible as far as I am aware.
J. L. G.
The vibe here is really cool. The light is amazing. The variety of independents is great and an eclectic mix of services available.
It is spacious. Somewhere to get a drink and meet friends or get a unique birthday gift.
R. Y. b.
Cool place - nice selection of small boutique shops and nice atmosphere ! Cool cafe and relaxed atmosphere away from the crowds ! Come here to get away from things - it’s cool inside !
R. H.
Very hipstery, but actually cool with it and not at all pretentious. Loads of cool shops, selling everything from clothes, trinkets, records, to plants, art and vinyl. Places to eat and drink as well. Definitely worth checking out, if not just to take a look around.
T. R.
Great looking venue packed with original, local arty shops (and café)
A. B.
The shops seem to be locally produced which is great as it keeps the money flowing within the city. Lots of clothing stores. Not much to do other than look at clothes tho. Worth a stop in. Place has history. You could probably be in and out in a hour if you take your time in and out of every shop.
J. G.
Normal place only famous for photo not that much good
M. L.
Beautiful structure but many of the shopping areas are empty. Lots of road works and general improvements are going on in the area so I am looking forward to improved surrounding and possibly better use of the Corn Exchange in the near future.
V. K.
I know several people who have lived in Leeds for a relatively long time and do not know that this is a chain of small shops.
P. I. P.
Beautiful business place attracts tourists.
C. S.
This place amazed us when we got inside. Two floors full of small shops , a must visit if you're in Leeds.
D. T.
Architecturally interesting beautiful building. Nice history but today (Tuesday) the cafe was closed? Liked the nostalgic gaming machines.
B. D.
Leeds has got so much to offer, old or new ... the corn exchange can easily be missed. It would be a great shame, as it is grand and beautiful inside, with many interesting quirky shops. The victorian glass dome is incredible !
P. M.
Superb building, no longer used for grain merchants but nice to see small independent businesses using the space, This is a gem amongst Leeds' Victorian landmarks, the dome is an absolute wonder, and its nice to see it largely intact as it was built
S. M. M. H.
Amazing place to hangout and explore Leeds souvenirs and arts crafts, very nice cosy vibes and colours. The handmade stuffs at the different shops were amazing!
N. C.
Lovely place with lots of independent stores.
P. T.
Lovely place for a visit. Nice mix of shops in a very interesting building. Cafe in the middle does nice cakes.
R. A.

T. C.
Wow! Such a beautiful building full of interesting, quirky shops. Would definitely visit again.
M. T.
Like a short visit here before shopping. Great coffee and cakes and quite a few independent retailers in small units.
M. S.
Wonderful architecture Definitely worth a look
S. P.
It's been a few years since I last visited, still a great variety of independent traders with craft goods and unique goods on sale
T.
Lovely building nice to browse in the unique little shops. A treasure that should be always protected.

Stunning building, great design really awe inspiring. Every visitor to Leeds should see this place. Great place to eat, drink and meet friends, Also has a wonderful selection of great stores. This is one of Leeds real treasures.
J. S.
Fantastic range of independent shops.
Wold benefit from more food options.
M.
Great to see it now flourishing
E. P.
We absolutely loved the look of this place, and spent a few hours wandering around the small independent shops. Definitely a great place to check out for unique gifts as a lot are hand made. Theres also a Cafe and a couple of food places. Plus a toilet.
There's two floors of shops, with the top balcony accessible by staircase or lift.
There was a steam punk style Christmas tree which we really enjoyed. There's also a free puclic piano which was being well used while we were there.
J. B.
Went for a walk round.
There was loads of stalls. Lots of handmade jewellery.
A. W.
Amazing old building full of unique shops. Been coming here for years
n. c.
Small market but great place to visit.. near to the leeds city market and opposite to the bus station 🚉 😀
R. S.
Great spot for brunch, small place and a small menu but that's because the food they do is really nice. My partner is a fussy eater and they let her adapt her meal slightly to accommodate which was nice.
Only reason it's not 5 stars is because it could do with a better choice of drinks.
S. J.
Such a beautiful building with wonderful architecture. A must for anyone keen on history . Full of little artisan units ...Great for gifts
1.
A wonderful building with fantastic independent shops. A great alternative to other shopping experiences in the area.
C. B.
Absolutely love the corn exchange. It has such an array of awesome original shops. This is the perfect place to find those seldom come across items. It’s two floors and completely circular so, accessibility wise it’s pretty good.
R. A. P.
We were shopping in the city on Sunday morning and called in here to see what it now looked like after not visiting for over 10 years. What a transformation! Lots of fantastic independent shops, there is something for everyone here, and in a beautiful setting. From Tattoos, to vintage clothes, to a wedding dress store, it’s an eclectic place and I’d highly recommend a visit.
S. C.
Some quirky little shops in a very old setting.. Extremely clean, tidy and welcoming. We always visit when we go to Leeds.
W. H.
Beautiful old building take you back a century ago where trade was so simple and basic.
R. M.
Iconic architectural design. Not a stone untouched. Inside has some quirky individual shops. Amazing building. Another Cuthbert Brodrick classic.
J. C.
Such an incredibly beautiful building. Wide-open spaces & all it's original glory has been maintained.
M. A. W.
Pleasant surprise in the centre of LEEDS. Worth a visit for sure
t. o.
Absolutely beautiful building. Would have given it 5 stars but the disabled access has a lot to be desired
M. E.
The Corn Exchange is a beautiful building, filled with unique + independent shops. If you are looking for something a little different, this place has it.
C. T.
After a few years with low occupancy and a lack of energy the stunning Corn Exchange seems to be heading back to the vibrant independent shopping venue it used to be. Really pleased to see new shops opening. Visit if you are in Leeds
M. H.
It was a perfect vintage camera shop which i liked the most!! And there are more shops and place to eat amd chill inside. It has a good trading history as well.
M. K.
Not to be missed, this listed building has to be seen not just from the outside but the inside has pleanty of caricture and quirky shops once inside take a look at the roof dome our forefathers knew how to build places years ago, the toilets are very clean.
R. Q.
Great little getaway in the centre of the city. All local shops and small businesses, a number selling high quality gifts you probably won't find anywhere else. The hot dog place primos is definitely worth a try! Highly recommend.
P. M.
Beautiful inside, with the circle upstairs and the magnificent ceiling , truly a marvel in centre of the city.
k.
Lovely range of vintage and independent shops. Visited at Christmas time and it was decorated so lovely, and had a really nice atmosphere.
Would definitely recommend if in Leeds, great place to buy unique and special gifts.

K. F.
Nice atmosphere, lovely little shops/cafe
G. T.
This building is magnificent both inside and out. Nice small independent shops inside on two floors with a cafe and sculpture exhibition in the central atrium. We'll worth a visit.
D. D.
Great place for a wander round mooching in independent shops
D. T.
A shopping mall like no other. Didn't buy anything there but loved exploring the place and learning about its history. They had an exposition when I visited.
R. M.
Used to love the Corn Exchange. Used to be an eclectic and delightful mix of shops and cafes, for a range of pockets, run by lovely people. The owners pushed up the rents and forced out businesses and, with them, most of the real personality of the place. Like so much of Leeds' centre, it's been gentrified horribly. Still an absolutely exquisite building, though. Worth a visit just to see it.
C. H.
Today it was closed, but it is a great place to visit with plenty to do and see.
T. L.
So many gorgeous shops to explore. Beautiful building from every angle. There's also an amazing coffee shop inside!
J. W.
Lots of amazing and cool little shops sell crafts. Love it!
L. H.
Loads of shops beautiful builds to look around worth a look
S. S.
A must visit while in Leeds. A fantastic Victorian building boasting amazing architecture with a wealth of independent and eclectic mix of shops around the perimeter of the building but a number of the units are empty which I hope isn't an increasing trend.
G. L.
A real treasure of Leeds. Definite must see for any visitor to the city. A fantastic building, such impressive architecture and history. And home to a great selection of independent shops, restaurants and cafes.
K. L.
Quite a few stores were closed but the ones that were open were interesting and well done. I enjoyed it and so did my family. As a drummer however i was dissapointed that the percission store was closed. A photography store took the interest of my sister.
T. B.
Lots of different and interesting shops but that was a year ago since I was in there. I was actually stood at what remains of the corn exchange bus stops.🤭.
L. C.
The interior of the Leeds Corn Exchange is truly magnificent. The colours, the decor, the stain cases all make this building stunning.
C. C.
A fabulous place to visit. A simply superb building in prime condition and not to be missed. Credit to the designer, builders and current custodians.
Don't miss the market just down the road.
L. W.

M. C.
Love it here. Architecture is beautiful and lots of little lovely shops! I always visit it for a stroll through the shops whenever in Leeds!!!!!
P. C. T.
This is a very peculiar place. Its shape and open space design with very good natural lightning make it look very good. The place was a corn exchange place in the past which make this a tourist spot as well.
j. s.
Only ever been in here once in my life.25 years ago.a beautiful building, but as far as shops go I have zero info on what's in there. Posh boutiques maybe? 😀
R. E.
Visited for vintage fair was really impressed. The building is awesome, visited camera shop and got a new lens. Also Sohos for alternative goth clothes and shoes.
s. j.
Amazing place in Leeds definitely worth a visit
B. D.
Enjoyable place to visit and wander around. Wonderful atmosphere to the place. I enjoy going to the second hand record shop. Other shops worth a visit, too. Card shop, poster shop, Yorkshire Gift shop etc. Presently it is a quiet because of Covid measures. One way system in place, toilet closed.
C. C.
Interesting architecture outside and inside. The shops inside are lovely too
b. g.
Its a lovely building with a wide range of boutique type shops. It was spotless as usual, and is a credit to the polite and well manered lady cleaner. They have managed to keep its magic and uniqueness, despite conforming to the present measures. Be seeing it again soon.
F. C.
The building is pretty. You can't tell it was corn exchange place. Its cozy and nice now. Having a cup of coffee here is a rest.
A. D.
A nice little shopping centre, thought it was going to be a concert place! Cute, individual shops.

Great selection of independent shops and a little cafe. Plenty of empty shops so hopefully more great independents to come.
A. C.
I've always loved this building with its independent shops. But what happened to the plane what was suspended on the ceiling?
J. C.
Lovely arts and craft fair at the weekend and all the shops are lovely!
The shops can be quite expensive though but all independent businesses
L. C.
I've been a fair few times and I love this place but there are less places to visit here now (most likely due to the pandemic) but it is a great place to visit if you're staying in the city.
C. T.
Great shopping experience, in this magnificent building, beautifully architectures. Truly beautiful, stylish leather shoo. Totally recommended for top quality one off items. Made to your own designs if required. items Needs a few more vintage and antique shops to allow for all tastes.
P. G.
This lovely historic grade 1 listed building has been a fixture of the landscape in the heart of Leeds since 1863. After having undergone several changes of identity (it was once a restaurant) and 2 renovations, in 1990 and 2008, it is now home to several independent retailers. There are shops and cafes located over 2 floors, including one of my favourite record stores, Released Records. Definitely worth a visit when in Leeds.
m. w.
Always a fascinating place to visit. Lovely little cafe, with great food and coffee. The building itself is just beautiful.
B.
It is very picturesque and nice but the stores are quite samey all the way around. There was also quite a lot of empty stores. We went prepared to buy things but there wasn't too much to get. I would definitely recommend a visit though because it looks incredible.
M. I. B.
Roller girl gang superb spot, bring on and petition for the roller disco at the Royal Amouries. I love this cool rollerskating shop. Please can we have some cool kryptonic roller skate 🛼 wheels.
J. B.
Amazing set of shops where you can get clothes, plants, hair cuts and the best food in Leeds at owt
P. S.
Lovely place but especially at Christmas. There was a choir singing too.
J. L.
Fab shops. Cafe. Amazing building. Different and vintage shops.
O. K.
Very nice and modern inside but also has that original traditional feel.
O. M.
Great fun lovely atmosphere beautiful design this is a old Victorian building now used by a range of small independent and unique little shops. The Covid safety steps are good & well implemented. Boyfriend had craft beer on the top floor and said was good 🍻 will go again
Think it was the local corn exchange years ago hence the name hahaha
L. M. A. S.
The most adorable vintage shops and plant shops. Nice place to visit on a day out for window shopping/shopping or just a walk.
C. D.
Some unique and interesting shops, and a lovely cafe' in the main hall area. One of the best flat whites I've had in a while, & they sell huge vegan doughnuts, but I didn't try one, but would! Will definitely be going more regularly.
D. M.
Super use of a beautiful building. 3/4 full of weird and wonderful independent shops, presumably they come and go quite frequently so if you see something you like, don't assume it'll still be there in a year. Glad we checked it out on our visit.
G. S.
The design of this building is amazing inside. Lovely small shops inside. Well worth a walk around this building just to see the design.
L. G.
Cool place with alternative, independent shops of photography, music, clothing, decoration, etc. It has more potential though to organise other things
D. M.
A lovely cute bit of the old days, independent shops and business. Definitely worth a visit.
S. C.
Gorgeous venue for a bit of retro styled shipping experience! Lovely way to hang out for coffee & cake, not overly hectic, charming shop fronts and old-fashioned buzz rather than the Mall.
p. m.
Very interesting shop in side of shops you will be surprised
K. H.
Full of independent shops with a community feel.
P. L.
Fantastic piece of architecture in the heart of the best city in England!! Have fond memories of the pick & mix jelly bellie beans shop on the ground floor but unfortunately long gone now. There are some quirky shops but the only negative is a lot of the stuff is overpriced
P.
A lovely grand old corn exchange, full of beautiful architectural details has now been converted into a range of eclectic and unique little shops. The Covid safety steps are good & well managed, ensuring a simple one-way traffic system is in place.
D. W.
Amazing place - a unique and beautiful Victorian building put to good use with a great variety of small traders occupying the small shop units. The roof and resulting light, airy feel are great. We arrived when most of them had closed for the day, but I love the look and sound of the Vanilla One cafe (great setting and amazing selection of teas on display) and 'Humpit' for hummus and pitta-based snacks. Lovely artisan jewellery and fashion retailers. Good music soundtrack even when shops are closed after 5.30 complements the experience well. Completely in love with the place.
T. C.
This was our first visit here and we were so impressed! For those visiting for the first time don't be put off by the outside of the building as it holds a fantastic interior. The building comprises a variety of independent shops on two floors and all in "the round". The range of businesses is extensive - card shops, gift shops, hairdressers, clothes shops, poster shops etc etc. In the centre of the building is a good cafe and if you're lucky someone may be playing the community piano! We will certainly visit here on our next trip to Leeds and can highly recommend it to others 😀👍
M. B.
I dont rate the selection of shops here as highly as I once did, but it's a beautiful and well managed building with shops that you won't find elsewhere. There's some good coffee and food options too and the sort of place you can have a relaxed browse. It can feel a bit hectic at peak times, so make the most of a visit during the day time on a week day. There's no parking directly associated with the corn exchange but there are large paid parks nearby and it's very close to the train and bus stations.
M. G.
Beautiful, love the indoor plant shop on the gallery called Plant Point.
Had the star on the back of my neck done in the shop next door, Red Tattoo. It hasn't washed off...
J. B.
Good earlier experiences of what the Corn Exchange has to offer. This evening was a ticket only event.
C. D.
The building itself is quite nice and looks very historic. There is a wide variety of shops within the building but are not a selection of shops that I would go to on a regular basis. There is a piano in the building which the public can play and can keep keep you entertained for a while
D. F.
Stunning building and lots of quirky and unusual shops
F. A.
If you go to visit Leeds don't miss this beautiful Victorian building"the corn exchange" it's next door to kirkgate indoor market.thats John my brother.
N. A.
Beautiful place, and you can see Victorian design, you can buy amazing things from boutiques inside it
S. K.
Great range of shops, bit of an alternative feel to it with quirky interesting places to eat. Great for gifts and cards, Humpit is brilliant for well priced filling food. Giant Kitten has gifts and clothes. There's a tattoo parlour, barbers and a lovely camera shop.
K.
Love going to the corn exchange and looking at its ceiling - beautiful architecture. Lovely local shops.
e. w.
Great selection of shops. Ate at 'Owt' lovely food although sad that they'd run out of chips. :(
L. R.
Querky shops, couple of retro themed shops and a couple of nice places to eat. Live entertainment also on at times
H. M.
Always have I found that the changing faces of shops and other outlets here make each visit different.
With so much to choose from too, it's pretty much a shopping trip all of its own before continuing into the city centre. There are, admittedly, some shops that are high priced, but other than that, it is refreshing to see the inside of the domed top that is The Leeds Corn Exchange. Stunning.
C. L.
Shops here are definitely unique and each is fantastic, but coronavirus has wiped out half the stores recently which is a shame
I. M.
Iconic building for architecture lovers and photographers. Wooden floors and curved staircases. Various shops and eateries + for relaxing. Great for a non hurried walk in the classy shops. A must if you haven't visited before!
B. C. G. B.
Visited West Yorkshire Camera Shop. Good service and knowledgeable staff.
M.
A hidden gem in Leeds. Well worth taking a detour to get away from the crowds of Briggate and Trinity to discover what the Corn Exchange has to offer.
Independents everywhere - from bakeries to cafés, music stores to plant shops. A great space.
L. M.
I always take guests here when they're visiting Leeds. Not only is the building very cool but there are also a lot of shops with opportunities to buy souvenirs or imported products and quirky gifts and clothes. There are also designer clothes, a piercing studio and more.
M. Z.
As always, it's a pleasure to visit CE. There is always something interesting going on here. The shops are varied and you can always find something that you won't find elsewhere.
K. S.
Amazing small shopping arcade. Beautiful place and many small and cute shops.
M. W.
Beautiful building with quirky little independent shops
L. K.
Lovely place, lots of lovely boutique stores.
Z. N.
We had vegan food and shopping in this beautiful place
C. L.
Good variety of independant shops and places to eat. The building had recently been decorated and disabled access installed. It's an impressive building to sit in and have a coffee or visit one of the great independent shops. It's a really iconic building in Leeds that's well worth a visit if you're in the area.

Really liked the atmosphere here. It is very well renovated with some great history. It ks not yet finished but the stores that are, are vintage like and have some really cool stuff. However it may be a bit pricy We had some coffee and tea at the little bar that is inside. I really enjoyed it. It worth visiting when you are in Leeds or the area :)
K. A.
Heritage building re purposed to house lots of funky little independent shops and some nice cafes.
O. T.
I've watched this place change incredibly over the years. It's worth popping in for a look but unfortunately there isn't much in terms of history for those boffins out there, especially considering the history surrounding the place. An eclectic mixture of shops including a barbers, guitar shop, coffee shop and a couple of small restaurants amongst others. Not entirely convinced that it's wheelchair accessible, but I vaguely remember some wooden ramps in the past. It's always security manned so it would be worth an ask.
C. M.
What a surprise, always wanted to see this city, Henry Moore Institute, next to a great art gallery next to the fantastic library. The Xmas market was a treat but not as much as the Arcades, the shopping centres,, the Corn Exchange. The train station is very central and all is easy to walk round, I'm going back before Christmas. Loved it.
L. R.
Beautiful building lots of independent shops. Gorgeous plant shop upstairs. My favourite shop is giant kitten full of great gift ideas and lovely friendly staff.
J. B.
This is a must visit place if you are visiting Leeds. It's a beautiful oval-shaped building very tastefully converted into a range of independent shops. The Victorians knew how to build in style. There are a couple of places to eat. There was a restaurant in the basement but this closed at the time of writing. Worth a look but be aware that the shops are on two levels. Look out for the lovely roof.
j. j.
Authentic, original, quirky various shops. What a fabulous place, so different to the High Street shops. I can thoroughly recommend it. I loved the record shop searching through the vinyl LP's, what a find. I will be back.
C. B.
Love the unique stores in here. Beautiful building
R. Y.
Loads of indie shops and a few places to have something to eat as well. Occasional special events held here as well.
S. K.
Nice historic building. Now inside are little craft shops but sadly most are empty shame as its lovely inside the corn exchange. Worth a visit though just to see the building theres a coffee shop if you want to sit and relax from all the shopping in leeds
S. B. (. P. P.
Went there one Tuesday. This building is awesome!! From the outside it looks like a domed roof, but once you get inside it is totally different. The roof has been designed like a Zeplin. The shops on the two floors are all unique and fascinating. There's a coffee shop on the ground floor as well. If for nothing else this beautiful building is worth a visit just to see the architecture inside and out!
L. B.
Very good and very quirky indoor shops mostly independent so I'm a huge fan
G. C.
Old building with shops. Beautiful architecture.
M. H.
A beautiful old building, lovely quaint shops.
g. g.
This is an absolutely amazing building. It has the wow factor when you walk in. Always worth a visit when in Leeds. Visited this week and was dissapointed to find quite a few shops closed at 11 am so not a 5 star rating on this basis. There is also a lot of regeneration work currently going on which is great, hopefully signage will go up about this impressive building so people can learn all about its history. The building manager needs to crack the whip and get all the shops open when potential customers (like us) have money to spend.
s. d.
Very vibrant, lovely little coffee shops
L.
Very cool
A. J.
Some lovely shops.
H. M.
Stunning building, fabulous quirky independent shops and a fabulous coffee bar.
N. H.
A beautiful building with great history now being used to house local, independent retailers. This is a must-visit when in Leeds. Lots of cool shops with something for everyone such as vintage cameras, handmade jewellery, souvenirs of Yorkshire, vintage clothing, and much more. Also the coffee cart on the ground floor serves the best flat whites!
M. D. S.
Stunning.
A. S.
What a fabulous space, in the heart of the city! Don't miss the beautiful architecture. There's a great range of independent shops too, and it's right next to Kirkgate market, be sure to pay a visit if you're only in Leeds for a short stay
J. X.
Beautiful architecture. Not much variety of the shops in it.
j.
Such a cute place, loved the plant shop the best, will definitely be a frequent visitor
E. A.
After traveling to Leeds a lot I had always seen the corn exchange and had never been in before, but I was surprised to see how lovely it was inside with loads of small vintage and alternate shops including one with loads of Japanese and cute style merchandise inside, would highly recommend going in to see inside, and is great for all ages. Also if you head right to the bottom of the corn exchange there is usually some activity going on, last time I went, there was table tennis available for people to play (I am unsure if it is free or not). The place had a good atmosphere but wasn't overly crowded in comparison to the streets of Leeds city center, not to mention how friendly the staff were inside.
L. K. (.
Vibrant market,very reasonable prices
p. f.
Great little record shop hiding away up stairs with plenty of old school vinyl
B. C.
Love this place. beautiful outside even prettier inside. lots of different boutiquey places from jewelry, plants, posters etc. Also has cafe. an excellent alternative to the designer big brand shops in Leeds.
B.
Whilst being a beautiful building on the outside, it is equally magnificent on the inside with very ornate walls, floors, ceiling, etc. Loads of shops to view and some great food places here too. Leeds Drum Centre deserves a notable mention as the shop owner has always provided an exceptional service on his own.
S. K.
Hipster location with niche shops and food if you like that sort of thing!
M. B.
As a building, it looks very nice and can't be faulted. But when I went, it was mainly empty floor space and the small shops it DID have weren't worth making a special detour for. I'm sure there's an audience out there for the kind of vintage tack stalls it has, but I doubt I'd ever go back.
M. C.
It's bereft of any shops that directly appeal to me other than for buying gifts and the food options in there don't appeal (used to love the Anthony's operations though) but it's my favourite building in Leeds. It's filling up and hosts some great events so hopefully going from strength to strength.
N. O. T.
Nice place with the history and still active until now!
They have the food court and some small shops inside.
Free entry.
Not sure abt the price range, but its a must visited place when u come to Leeds.
T. B.
I love the corn exchange . It's so beautiful and worth a visit just to marvel at its glory. Shops inside are quirky and unique And different to the average. Shame they have blocked off the lower ground area... there used to be cafes and art stores and stalls there back in the day. What a shame that's no longer there
L. H.
If you visit Leeds do not miss this. Beautiful building with loads of independent shops
T. C.
Fantastic place, all independent shops.
S. K.
I remember first time walking Leeds city centre streets (17 years ago! 😲😲😲)i came to this place trying to find not.less famous Leeds market... that was about 12:00, than i looked in my watch second time -?!18:47.
Exactly!! It not just old exclusive building with history. Mystery... another dimension? Why not.
Like the new lights roof. Glad that Leeds city council and other sponsors love that place not less than me.
Because without Corn Exchange will be no Leeds🙂
A. V.
Worth visiting for the building alone ! A fine example of Victorian architecture, until recent times it still operated as a corn market certain days each week. There are a large number of small independent shops - selling a wide range of goods. There are regular art fairs here.
C. Y.
Interesting place to visit. Shops are interesting too. Try the humpit and bring a camera
H. E.
Loss of interesting units including great gents hairdressers there - king koby chop shop
g. p.
Superb building with lots to see inside. Have a coffee and enjoy the atmosphere. Unfortunately there is a large void in the center which needs to be filled. i spoke with some of the shop tenants and they said that the management could do more to fill the space . My passion is photography and there is a really great camera shop in there . I will return , not as often as i would like as i live in Mansfield .
A. B.
Nice atmosphere. I went for the vintage clothes market and was pleasantly surprised. Used to come here a lot as a teen and it feels like it's back to its best.
K. H. d. V.
Beatifull place to take a walk
v. m.
Lovely atmospheric building with quaint shops that always have something different. If you want clothing or a gift that isn't run of the mill high street, this is the place to look.
T. W.
sensitive re-use of beautiful historic building. varied selection of retail and leisure, cefe's etc. aimed at the "hipster" demographic so ideal if you are into music, vintage, tattoos alternative/dark humour all under one beautiful roof.
P. S.
One of Leeds most iconic buildings it's always been a favourite of mine the renovation is amazing but there seems to be a lack of shops and fewer cafes now maybe the rents have become unreasonable
f. a.
Small but got character
M. E.
Very busy and beautifully restored.
W. B.
Not a huge amount there but nice, did spot an old military or convict mark on a block heading in would like to know more history on the place, no one i asked could help
S. G.
Nice quirky building with independent shops. I went on a Sunday so not all shops open
D. “.
Lovely historic centre with a lot of specialist nickity nackety shops. Worth a visit if you need to buy a friend a gift but don't know what to get!
S. L.
What a wonderful find. Classic architecture meets shopping arcade.
If your passing pop in and take in its charm. If you have time, why not try a custom tea from Vanilla One. You will be pleasantly surprised.
B. D.
Magnificent building. Nice place to grab a quick meal or drink a coffee. A range of independent shops. Due to the size of the space it can be a bit cold in winter.
D. P.
Still there, still beautiful, lots of small independent shops, pleasant and helpful security.
No public toilets at the moment due to Covid.
J. L.
Interesting building. Had been told I must see it when I visited Leeds. Not sure it required such a trumpet call. I found the shops disappointing although one great silver jewellery shop and another next door making gold hand made jewellery.
D. N.
Big, domed building of Victorian commercial pedigree. Amazing constriction provides space and light. Artisan and craft shops, some cafes, and a music/performance venue. Essential viewing if in Leeds
S. W.
Favourite Northern building with quirky shops!
K. S. P.
Nice little shops, amazing roof to look at. Good hummus place for vegans!!
C. A.
The roof is amazing in structure and beauty and life going in side as a whole but in each individual shop and cafe/ space with community piano just great the colours all around the gallery to be seen and enjoyed
L. R.
Cool venue and interesting shops. Could do with bigger toilets.
J. J.
The shops here feel deserted but the concept for independent retailers is excellent. Typically have events here and this place is an excellent events space. History is the attraction, events the reason to enjoy.
C. T.
Three stars based on wonderful building alone. It’s worth going to see this historical building but the Corn Exchange is a patch of its former self. Pre-modernisation it housed a vibrant alternative community that extended out from its doors onto the surrounding streets (similar to Afflecks in Manchester). Many shops remained empty once they refurbished and restored the interior. Since that time shops and restaurants have come and gone regularly. Whenever I visit there’s no more than a handful of people in there with the ever watchful security guard. If they could find some way to fill it with shops people want to go to it would make a fantastic alternative to the standard high street stuff a short walk away.
z. a.
The architecture is really quite stunning, the way it lets in natural light really is a marvel 'and' the way that in the dark you can see the night sky without it being overwhelmed by the amount of internal light is quite a feat too.
The building has a rather elegant internal eatery and quite a few designer shops, they're a bit on the pricey side but if you don't mind parting with a few pounds then they're definitely worth a look.
The outside of the building is rather quite nice despite the somewhat run down surroundings and the crowds of youngsters that linger around the back of the building, but they don't harm anyone, they're just there to chat and see one another in a nice open, well lit, space.
The Corn Exchange (now with 100% less corn): 8/10
ح. ح.
The place is very beautiful
D. J.
Lovely place. The roof was slate tiled by the same company that slate roofed and side slate cladded our cottage called Bryn Mair in Wales. Beautiful building with great shops. Well worth a visit.
D. W.
Lovely iconic location in the heart of Leeds, near to Kirkgate market. Full of hairdressers and small boutique shops. Feels hard to get excited by any shops here and we only stayed a few minutes.
A. A.
Always pleasant being there. The architecture is marvellous. There aren't however enough cafes or restaurants to make people want to go there. And they had a ping pong table in the middle that disappeared for good. Although that was fun.
G. N.
A good place to visit. The architecture is amazing - two circle floors with shops and cafes. Ground floor usually has table tennis. Sometimes art exhibitions are held there.
D. B.
Photographically splendid, with loads of small shops, well worth visiting, lots to see, grab a coffee and enjoy the view. I thought I had added 360° photos already, to give an idea of the place.
C.
Really lovely building and a great setting for the regular craft markets they have. These have some over-priced second hand goods, but also some interesting bits made by local crafters and artists. The shops are worth a look-in regardless of your style and the piercing studio is one of the best around.
Well known for the pitta and hotdogs too - a good place to spend time if you are out shopping.
T. S.
Will we hope be better when the road works ect are finished
J.
Love this area. Has a variety of bus services to Crown Point, Beeston, Leeds Train station, Dewsbury, York Road, etc.
Love the close proximity to shops and department stores, restaurants, banks, the market, post office, etc.
S. H.
Love all the individual shops. The Pink Wardrobe, Leather shop, Humpit for veggie food. Shay Bella for scented Candles. The building is amazing inside, you just hsve to look around at the architecture. Wooden floors and wide sweeping stair cases.
G. P.
Beautiful architecture, beautifully renovated and such lovely little shops!
P. R.
The corn exchange is an amazing building a beautiful old fashioned metal and glass dome structure ( don't forget to take your camera you won't be disappointed ! ) the shops and boutique's inside are great all individual selling 'not on the high Street' goods , we will return again as there was so much to see :)
C. S.
Good shops, good atmosphere, good people. Primos is great for lunch, and visit the Yorkshire shop too! The Plant Point is where I get my plants.
Not sure what happened to the toilets recently, however.
P. B.
We enjoyed the visit.
A. L.
A lovely high ceilinged market area with lots of independent shops. The deco matches the season and very covid safe!
M. L.
What a difference a month makes. The place is alive again and well worth a visit, magnificent period building.
G. M.
What a lovely place too visit.
Local independent businesses...Great to support them.
M. G.
A great historic building and a good shopping experience
Z. W.
Good and interesting independent shops! We love Giant Kitten one!
S. L.
A very traditional and relaxed environment
J. I.
Fantastic architecture inside and a wide range of shops
B.
It's a beautiful space with quaint little independent stores circling a performance space. Great to pop in and have a browse round while admiring the roof architecture.
S. B.
Beautiful building with a great selection of boutique shops.
R. H.
Pretty building and architecture, from the inside too - good photo ops, but bring money if you intend to buy anything, at £25 a candle, it's not the pound-land area of Leeds :P
D. K.
Always love walking around the funky shops in this place. It has a very strange atmosphere and they have a variety of ethnic foods in the basement now.
G. H.
A large and well situated space and shopping centre in the middle of Leeds, has good architecture and is certainly an interesting place to visit whilst walking around Leeds.
H. C.
A wide range of shops and places to eat in a cool, historic building
B. B.
Lots of indy shops on offer here. Must visit if you want to check out unique or usual shops. Cafes, homeware, electronics and fashion. They often have events or record fairs down stairs. Great place for weekend lunch.
M. P.
This building is very interesting. I've never seen one like this before. Some of shops here are really amazing. You can feel how is it to be there in victorian age. My favourite is Yellow sunrise.
H. M.
A lot of folk here are berating the corn exchange because it's not what they remember from harking back to their rose-tinted youth - well times change, and instead of wallowing in faded memories, why not look at what it does have to offer right now? Quirky and specialist shops like Leeds Drum Centre, Northern Acoustics, and West Yorkshire Cameras to name a few - not to mention a really nice place to get a coffee and gifts. Support the independent shops in there, and it will get even better!
L. H.
The shops were nice however a bit pricey. This is made up for by the fact that you are supporting local businesses. Lots of open space and not too busy.
P. W.
Excellent for some local crafts or something a bit different. Good food options and a cool place. Shame more is made of it .... The whole downstairs is unused ..... Which seems like a real lost opportunity.
L. K.
Very cool place to shop West Yorkshire Cameras is my favourite
P. N.
The building is of great architectural and historical interest. Now populated with boutique shops , it's definitely worth a visit if you are new to Leeds.
H. D.
Nice Building & architecture is admired.
c. h.
Always worth a visit.
A Wonderful mix of shops.
B. M.
Very pretty building. It's literally worth taking a look purely to appreciate the architecture.
Has some quite unique/specialised stores and a couple of cafes.
M. T.
Wonderful place in the heart of Leeds. Nice little unique shops and a stunning atmosphere. If you are in Leeds, you should definitely pay a visit!
S. S.
A great place to visit great shops all individual, and a nice place to eat. The history and architecture is very interesting. Check the Website as the exchange stages great events
M. B.
Very cool building, with a good selection of shops. Good place to go window shopping, but stores are fairly specialized in their respective products (cameras, leather jackets, guitars, etc).
S. G.
Fantastic indi stores.
J. S. (.
Amazing place to visit if not only for the historic domed architecture. The corn exchange is filled with speciality shops with lots of independent retailers. Well maintained and good for a browse.
D. S.
Brilliant. Fantastic range of liitle shops with cafe highly recomended
T. H.
Great open space for independent shopping and eating with so many choices, there are always events on and its just a really cool bit of Leeds architecture and history anyway.
D. T.
Full of interesting stores filled with unique products
H. S.
This is a grand venue. The building is imposing circular style with different levels and balconies. The building hosts many small independent retailers such as a camera shop and a brew ( ale) shop
B.
Last time I was here was over a decade ago. Changed so much since then, so many empty shops now. Such a shame.
C.
A beautiful, spectacular building with an array of independent shops. Nice to dawdle around if you fancy something chilled out.
A. T.
Nice building, seems to have a high turn over of retailers, and lacks the fringe feeling it had some years ago.
The coffee shop their is definitely worth a visit
P. l.
It's a lovely old building with a lot of history and always something different happening on the lower floor as well as bargains to be had. Don't miss a look in the camera shop on the top floor if your into old film cameras
P. S.
Quaint individual shop lets. There use to be shops and a bar cafe in the basement sadly no longer there. Great Northèn light roof structure
P. S.
Not been in here for about 10 years, so was good to do a bit of Xmas shopping. The gallery is a bit scary as you wander from shop to shop. Glad to be back to ground level!
M. N.
Good array of independent shops and some decent food places. Humpit and Primos are both well worth investigating for a quick bite to eat and there are a number of off beat independent stores worth visiting.
h.
Charming place with some really cool shops well worth a wonder around.
I love Red tattoo and the hippy shops but happily go just for lunch.
N. P.
An unusual perspective of an iconic building in Leeds city centre, I spent a lot of time here in my 20's did love Leeds Corn Exchange
O.
my fave place to go.
s. o.
It's a really nice place, however it's a shame some of the outlets are closed
D. S.
Lovely old building full of small traders, worth a look around
W. H.
Lots of different shops, I went into a hotdog place. They made hot dogs confusing. I don't know, just give me a hot dog, why you gotta ask me all these questions? What's the difference? Why am I here? What's the meaning of life?
Most shops have kind staff and some even have kind costumers, I went into a clothing shop and asked for the time and got an answer from 3 different people from different walks of life. Would definitely ask again.
S. R.
A fantastic old building with independent shop & cafes, has a great feeling inside & out, very accessible to most places & living Italy on the side does a fantastic pizza.
I. P.
Fantastic Victorian building with an elliptical glass roof. Galleried interior with independent small shops. Nice cafe in the basement.
T. P.
Stunning building with nice little shops
M. F. n.
Lots of little shops around the outside but the cafe in the middle is very expensive
G. K.
Unique quirky shops restaurants and barber shops
B. H. (. H.
Good variety of small independent traders. Definitely worth a visit.
P.
Really good place to get some souvenirs. Loads of little shops with hand made goods.
There is a caffe right in the middle. Too bad they do not sell ice creams :(
I. K.
Slightly empty, but very unique and cosy shopping centre. Full of local independent businesses. Could use a bit more variety, however.
c. n.
Lovely little shopping arcade. Very quaint
S. H.
It's a nice place. You'd need a reason to be here though. I can't see you coming here for a random shop. Some nice food places here. King Koby is a great male groomers.
S. p.
Cute little location, nice to visit and observe the building design and its historic aspects. Can support local designers and retailers too.
C. W.
A really nice market as far as your regular markets go
S. W.
Beautiful building with a nice selection of shops!
T. W.
Love the Corn Exchange, fantastic historic building, lovely architecture, great little independent shops. And still with room to improve downstairs.
D. G.
Used to come here many years ago for it's wide range of alternative clothing stores, but they all vanished. A shame really as it was a real puller for people like me who live quite a distance away. Haven't been nearly as much since they closed.
I. J.
O love this place, an iconic building, filled with small shops and coffee shops. A lovely, place with a real calmness
M. D.
This should be up there with the 1st things to do in Leeds, sadly it isn't.
The shops are brilliant as they are all independents with a leaning towards arts & crafts. It houses the best barbers in Leeds, King Koby's and a selection of eateries including a humous restaurant.
However this place relied upon a popular restaurant to provide its footfall and since their demise the place has got quieter and with it fewer spaces taken up that leaves it with a closing down atmosphere.
Please visit when in Leeds for this unique settingand building and hopefully it will gain its atmosphere and be easily a 5*
K. B.
The Leeds Corn Exchange is a stunning Grade I listed building, which has been a magnet for visitors for more than 150 years. It opened in 1863 as a bustling centre for the sale of corn, wheat, barley, hops, cake and flour. Today, the Corn Exchange is once again a thriving retail hub, with around 30 independent retailers trading under its spectacular domed roof.
A. K. (.
A great range of shops and cafes. Not what you would expect looking at the building from the outside. Excellent layout, lots of open space and lovely traditional decor. - The EducateFirst Team
N. B.
Cool place with plenty of shops. The building setup is pretty interesting and there are a few good café's you can visit while you're briefing around.
R. W.
Lovely independent stores but sad to see the buzz seems to have fizzled a little in the atmosphere. The building itself is amazing to look at.
G. S.
Lovely building with unique little shops ,to find that unusual gift, lovely eating cafes ,certainly a place to visit just to look at the amazing roof
p. j. s.
Old circular building used as a corn exchange in the old days now a great shopping experience with not your run of the mill items for sale . A popular meeting place for the people of Leeds.
K. B.
Great land mark of Leeds.
When I come through Leeds always look forward to seeing it and has some fantastic shops in there and also around it
D. H.
Nice inside, it has a lot of independent and locally made stores. Free ping pong / table tennis some nights during the week. Nice.
M. Y. B.
Nice shops though a lot less busy and bustling than 10yrs ago. Atmosphere has changed. Hoping it will pick up again with new traders
S. I.
Fabulous building with stunning architectural features, a great selection of independent shops and a vibrant atmosphere.
J.
Haven't been here for a while and nice to see a lot more shops and cafe's open, with good options for where to eat and nice independent shops to buy from.

M. C.
Interesting and eclectic. Great plant shop.
G. Y.
Magnificent grade 1 listed building housing lots of independent shops and cafes. Very interesting.
H. B.
A really nice break from the normal town centre vibe, nice to get a selection of good independent shops in one place in a nice setting. Feels a bit soulless compared to the glory... read more
F. R. M.
A travel time, retro shops, vinyl discs, musical instruments, gourmet coffee, Italian leather boots, a fascinating place and kind people to serve you.

Constantly providing brilliant small business and boutique products.

Great space and a few interesting shops. Food was great. It was the atmosphere that made it special
G. T.
Amazing historic building always worth a visit
C. G.
Some serious transformation/redesigning is ongoing. Can't wait to take a picture at the new corn exchange
R. C.
This is a must-visit if you're around Leeds city, the building is Grade 1 listed and historically interesting and beautiful, containing a number of independent shops that are worth a browse, eat and drink here, see some art and pick up something you won't find elsewhere, new or vintage in one of the shops or the various fairs that happen throughout the year.
d. s.
Brilliant independent shops and a nice place to visit for a coffee and a chat. Really nice old building worth the visit, it is just a bit out of the way.
D.
An interesting if very niche place, the corn exchange has always been a spot for specialist items and that remains true. The actual building itself is wonderful design
A. S.
It is a beautiful building with interesting shops and food stalls. They often have a variety of pop up markets in the lower level and free ping pong tables
L. J.
Beautiful building but a lack of shops
T. B.
Love this place , a really traditional place.
D. K. T.
Different selection of shops. Food and drinks available. Space downstairs used for musical entertainment sometimes too.
D. A.
There's a great coffee shop there, but the Exchange has lost a lot of it's charming little shops. A shame. Bring back the Hippypottermouse😊
E. P.
King koby and Primos are two good reasons to visit.
A. '. B.
Come here for King Koby mostly but always good to see if any local events are going on. Looks a little emptier than normal so hopefully more businesses will move in soon.
M. C.
Not a big fans of shopping, however, the design of the building and decorations are very very nice. The lowest floor is a little bit creepy though.
R. U.
Visited during the Vintage Fare which was nice, however there is a limited amount of eating places (If you don't like hot dogs or houmous!
D. C.
Great building in Leeds city center - full of lovely little independent shops.
Humpit and Little Leeds Beer Shop are highly recommended.

Beautiful building with a wide range of shops and cafes/places to eat. It often hosts craft/hobbie fairs too.
