Reviews of St Martins Square
Kai cafe what a great place to go for breakfast and brunch desserts were to die for food was amazing but certainly not the place for calorie conscious eaters place was extremely busy queuing outside staff were friendly and helpful a must place to visit.
Lovely area in Leicester City Centre, mostly independent businesses, there's a zero waste shop, cafes, bars, restaurants, hairdresser, etc.
In it's evening guise as crafty burger. Great burger joint and good fun. Huge portions so make sure you're hungry.
Great atmosphere, Clean & tidy with great food.
Nice little square with restaurants, ice cream shop, cocktails bars, a tea rooms and more.
Crafty burgers is brilliant - top notch
Great breakfast waffles! Would highly recommend a visit, booked ahead as it’s only a small place.
One of the best areas for independent shopping in Leicester. Lots of small shops and coffee shops. At night there are some good bars too.
Purchased samosa fro Current Affairs and ate it at the picnic tables
It's a lovely area with lots of independent shops, there is a good deli, a good place that sells Italian gelato, an art gallery, and a shop that sells vintage clothing to name a few.
Love this square. Something for everyone. Went to Mowgli....beautiful food
Had a lovely meal at Mowgli's. New experience. Decore was amazing.
Delicious food, decent selection of wines and friendly, patient service. Relaxing decor.
FABULOUS FOOD! Reccomend on any day out in Leicester.
Really pleasant and atmospheric with some great restaurants and independent businesses. One of the nicer parts of the city centre.
I love St Martins Square, especially when its sunny and you can absorb the atmosphere by the fountain. Occasionally you do get bothered by homeless people, but often they have interesting stories and its nice to talk to them.
Pleasant little walk.
This place has definitely been renovated well. Some lovely places to eat and drink.
A great selection of little bars and restaurants around here. End up eating and drinking around here every time I am in Leicester.
It is one of the most unlikely places around Leicester City Centre to chill. It is laid back and the atmosphere around is welcoming
Lovely area with great restaurants.
Some nice shops and cafés and close to the Cathedral, King Richard III visitor centre and a short walk to the city centre
Lots of great eating options, clean and well lit walkways in the evening. We will visit again.
Wonderful place to spend a Sunday. Very relaxing atmosphere and lots of beautiful cafes and shopping places.
Great open space with plenty of seating just needs street performers to brighten the place up and some street stalls to buy some local food.
Excellent service. Friendly staff. Grilled cheese sandwiches to die for. Coffee is some if the best in Leicester.
Its a lovely space with independent shops, tea rooms and coffee shops. Well worth a visit
This place was recommended to us by my friends and what a lovely place it is too, small and intimate and very entertaining the staff are very attentive and friendly and very polite.

Lovely place, delicious food and really nice staff. Highly recommended.
St Martin's Square is a gem for great independent places to eat in Leicester.
I'd particularly recommend Gelato Village which has won numerous awards and accolades for authentic gelato made using local and seasonal ingredients. Their hot chocolate in particular is devine, as is the straticella gelato.
decent coffee and food, ill be back
Plenty of independent businesses, mix of food, beauty and fashion. Well maintained side street from the main shopping area.
Nice mix of food and drink establishments. St Martin's coffee shop well worth a visit.

Great place to meet up with friend's, lots to choose from. I used to meet up with friend's as a student.
Nice place to grab a coffee but don't have my experience of the food.
Nice older part of the city... lots of shops and cafes to choose from and still pretty central to the city.
Beautiful quirky place for a good selection of coffee, tea and a quick bite.
Not much of a shopping centre, but the surrounding food places along with the Loseby Lane and Silver Street make this one of the best parts in Leicester to grab something to eat and chill.
Almost as nice as Nottingham these day still np atmosphere like in Nottingham city centre
Nice area and lots of really unique shops and restaurants
Such a great place, lovely shops, nice restaurants (kai) and great coffee shops
Nice small Shops but they did not have a lot of merchandise to choose from.
Interesting and different shops and cafes. Lively atmosphere.
There is nothing left but cafes and food places. The sweet shop was nice but on the whole there is nothing much left for an outside shopper.
We stopped at the range to buy some cookware on the way home.
I see a great future for this area. Add more bars and restaurants in and it will be that posh place Leicester really needs
Several decent and varied restaurants.
Great night out with some amazing restaurants and good people

Most gorgeous part of Leicester city; the surrounding lanes are reminiscent of the old English streets (just missing the cobbled stones); the square has gorgeous cafes and bars where you can sit outside and unique stores, I hope Leicester continues to look after this gem👌

Within the shopping centre of leicester this square is a nice break from the big shops, with outside spaces to enjoy coffee etc.
Trendy part of the city consisting of great places to eat, drink and shop.
Bar 45 is the sister of 45 West. For a more sophisticated evening definitely the place to go. Great service and soft lighting, delicate food to go with your champagne or cocktail with a variety of cheese and eadorves.
Independent shops and coffee/ice cream places. I think I would prefer it if they only had independent businesses.

All good, a sweet little shopping / eating precinct with some nice business. I can recommend the Italian deli and cafe, has great coffee and Arancinis. There looks to be quite a turnover of businesses here though but that might reflect the city and high street in general.

We went to Bodega Cantena . A nice little Mexican /Brazilian restaurant with great food and atmosphere. They do takeaway during lockdown.
Great area with a wide collection of all sorts of shops from The Ye Old Sweet Shop, to the really nice and new gelato store! There are plenty of good coffee shops and restaurants to choose from with small bits and bobs shops too.
Very interesting. If you've never been your in for a surprise. The range of stores is first class
Has some lovely little boutique/independent stores - great place for buying gifts or eco friendly wares from the fair-trade shop. Also has some nice quintessentially English cafes mixed with some bistro style offerings.
This is a great place to eat in Leicester. There are cafes and restaurants and also NADA which is a plastic free refill shop. This is good for all basic food requirements such as pasta, rice, detergents, spices etc. and you take your own containers.👍Some shops haven't reopend but it is close to the Highcross shopping centre if you need more variety.
Veeno Coffee. Absolutely beautiful.
Perfect location for different cafes catering for different kinds of foods..worth visit any cafes there..splendid
Beautifull place to walk, nice vievs, lots of cofe shops,, snack bars and restoarants. Love the atmosfere 😊👍
It is perhaps one of the most characteristic place of Leicester, which still knows how to evoke the old times of the Middle Ages and, it can be said, that it is a very beautiful place. In this place there are several luxury restaurants that create typical local dishes with a unique taste; in this historical context you can spend pleasant moments with friends. In this place you can not miss the cafes where you can sip various types of fine coffee. The area is completed by various shop that sell everything. Finally at the corner,in the end, there is a well stockes ice cream parlor.
Lovely haven from the hustle and bustle of the city centre. Close to everything you might need or want to see, but nicely tucked away. St. Martin's Coffee Shop is great for coffee and cake. Independent and with a rustic and friendly atmosphere. Friendly staff too!
We only walked through to get to our usual cafe, but it was buzzing and had a lovely atmosphere
What a lovely oasis to the typical centres or high streets. Really interesting vibe to this area with lots of interesting shops and buildings to look at. Some big brands shops but lots of independents also which is good to see. No need to worry about cars etc which is also a bonus. Great place to spend an afternoon and made better if the day is warm.
Nice place to enjoy coffee ☕
A great place lots of restaurants a great place to sit and watch the world go bye
Lots of things to see and places to eat
A great, small area full of local shops and restaurants. Feels almost separate from the rest of the city as it's a nice, contained area. Visited most recently for Crafty Burger, slightly pricey but very delicious food.
Nice places to eat 👌🏾
The square and it’s surrounding area is a beautiful side to Leicester City. Almost hidden away from the rest of another sad looking run down UK town.
Loved it and the shops around
In my opinion - this is the BEST pedestrianized (forgive my American) zone in the whole of Leicester.
However - much as it is a great zone, I found it difficult to 'love' it. I tried to love it, but was asked to move on.
Great mixture of block paving, tarmac and paving slabs - great for walking on, and free!
Definitely some shops and restaurants around in case the excitement of walking gets too much.
Visited the giggling squid, loved it
Went to the champagne bar, had cocktails from the good selection on offer, this place is a hidden gem bit of the beaten track which I like with the ability to have a nice drink and chat without music over powering making it a shouting match.
Really nice atmosphere and staff. Had vegan gluten free hummus avocado and soya latte. Dog friendly also!
Will definitely come back.
Great local shops and food outlets.
Look out for St martins/crafty for delicious food and a trip to Gelato Village after for amazing gelato
Favorite place un leicester centre. It feels so cozy, the restaurants are really aesthetic and the food delicious. Bookstores and small beautiful business you can find here.
A great place to stop for a break from shopping... food, ice cream, coffee etc or stronger. It also has a good night life. Sadly several of the attached images are not St.Martin's Square. These include Leicester railway station, New Walk Museum and the Clock Tower.
We went to Mowgli restaurant, best Indian/Asian food by far, cannot wait until we go again, worth 5 stars
I love there coffee and the cakes and there burgers and dirty chips
The area WAS starting to become a nice area with growing number of shops. Then some of them closed because rents were put up (or so they told us), and those that replaced them have not lasted long. I see several empty shops when I pass through and I have no reason to stop now as there are none that attract me.
Lovely place to sit , eat and enjoy the world go by.
Just a piece of OLD Leicester that has become a success story.
Well worth a visit.
Haircut? Household items? A nice bit of nosh? Records? And Gelato to die for.
A small area of excellent restaurants
Lovely place to shop
Nice place to shop and eat some nice unique gifts and places to look round
A quirky little area. Right in the centre of Leicester.
A great selection of places to eat and drink.
St. Martins coffee shop is well worth a visit and beats any of the chain coffee shops hands down.
Nice little square in the middle of Leicester. Some very nice restaurants. We weren't shopping.
It's a lovely place to sit outside and have a coffee and visit NKD salon
Great place to find hidden gems. Went to mowgli which was amazing and have desert place round the corner which is highly recommended. Area has eateries to cater for everyone
All that area of Leicester city centre feels vibrant and up-and-coming. Nice range of shops, cafes, bars, etc.
Also some historically relevant buildings close by.
I love St Martines Square..it has everything from bars, cafe, dessert parlours, a variety of cuisines and other quirky shops. A lively little spot
The bodega cantina is a really good place to eat great food.
Went to Veeno , great food and drinks. Lovely staff.
Small place but there's a rich collection of music. By digging through the used CD and vinyl crates you can find your favourite music at a good price
Lots of quaint boutiques and eateries. Very nice on a stroll through town. lots of places to park your bicycle. No cars to dodge.
A really good place for a night out lately, there are good places to eat, and smart places to drink. 33 can street is the best cocktail bar in leicester, but you have to book at weekends.
Old world atmosphere open shopping area in Medieval square. Actually has a great selection of upscale restaurants, indie shops, and an amazing ice cream parlor
In the Giggly Squid, Fabulous food and good ambiance. Will definitely go again.
Very traditional looking part of town with a colourful character and a variety of different stores. A joy walking through on a calm and sunny afternoon.
Crafty Burger is perfect Friday night dinner. Burgers are awesome and pimping up your fries are a must. I always go for the corny fries.
Not many places open but enjoyed a latte and sausage and tomato cob at Holly's,they brought it outside for us and good value 👍
St Martins Square what brings me to this place mainly the history. The banks which are now pubs or eating places. Leicester as changed quite a lot, however look very close for clues of Leicester's history.
It is the nicest part of Leicester City Centre with attractive bars and cafes that are not part of a chain. Check out St. Martins coffee..v lovely place to have coffee tea or lunch
Lovely little place tucked away in the centre of Leicester. Lots of delicious food and drink options both day and night.
Nice little shops, great food, great coffee around, not to mention gelato! Lovely area, so many great shops and places like Just Fair Trade, Kai, Bodega, Gelato village, Currant affairs, Nada and the list goes on!
A great multicultural eating location with with great stands, Mexican food and an ice-cream parlour to boot. Also, if you are after great home cooked food check out Mrs Bridges.
Really nice area, some slightly up market places but some great restaurants and coffee shops. It's also much nicer now there are benches for people to sit.
Love st Martin's square a must visit especially when you want a drink or bite to eat
Spontaneously just walked into this place having been past many a times. Service was 💯%. Our waiter (whose name I forget but was from Nottingham and studied Law) was very warm welcoming and genuine. We got 2mains and 3 sides with 2 cocktails and 2 soft drinks and 1 tea and 1 desert. We (I) was hungry! Would definitely recommend this place place and I for sure will be going back 😊
One of Leicester's hidden gems... delightful part of the "old town" with a couple of tasteful shops and places to eat. Worth stopping by as well as the nearby lanes
Nowhere to park because council want to make it as difficult as possible because you should be biking or walking there but the top people at council would go in car, feel sorry for all the little shops because with rent being a lot and council want a load of the money for doing nothing the shops have no chance, the council should be encouraging people to use the shops, leicester will end up with nothing left everythings closing down!
This is the heart of Leicester. Around this area there are interesting little shops.
It's best to walk around and just experience it. Public parking spaces are available and not expensive
The more I see of Leicester City Centre, the more it impresses me. St. Martin's Square is a prime example of a hidden, cosmopolitan beauty spot. If you're in Leicester at lunch time, be sure to check out St. Martins Square and its cascade of culinary establishments.
Great walk. Old and Historic. We walked through enroute to the Leicester Cathedral which is also home to King Richard III's tomb and resting place. Along the route ypu will also pass King Richard III museum and statue. Theres also some really cool and hip cafe, brunch and icecream stops at St Martins sq.
Lovely place to rest and contemplate on a nice day.
Nice in the summer. A very nice outdoor vibe with coffee shops all around
Great place to visit....
Great area. Was here for some drinks and it's got a quirky feel to it! Highly recommended.
Nice courtyard and area to have a relaxing drink
Stopped into a couple of bars and they were amazing! Great atmosphere
